Massive Microsoft layoffs are occurring as we speak with 9,000 employees affected by the mega-corporations decisions. Despite Xbox boss Phil Spencer stating that Xbox is doing better than ever, projects are being axed, including the next MMO from the developers behind The Elder Scrolls Online.
Following news that Rare’s long in-development exclusive game Everwild had been scrapped, trusted reporter Jason Schreier reported that the next game from Zenimax Online Studios has been killed as a result of the mass layoffs.
Speaking to fans on Blue Sky, Schreier revealed that the once-upcoming MMORPG, which had been in development since 2018, has been canned. Dubbed Project Blackbird, the MMO was in development long before Microsoft’s acquisition of Zenimax back in 2021.
“The new MMORPG project from Zenimax Online Studios, maker of Elder Scrolls Online, has been canceled as part of the Xbox layoffs,” the reporter told followers.
At the time of writing, other first-party Xbox projects are also reportedly on the chopping block with some suggesting that the upcoming Perfect Dark game is in hot water. Shown off last year, Perfect Dark is the debut project from new studio The Initiative in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics. The game’s cancellation would be one of the most expensive scrapped games in history.
Zenimax Online Studios has done extraordinarily well with The Elder Scrolls Online over the past decade. Since the game’s launch in 2014, the Elder Scrolls prequel has become one of the biggest MMOs around, although it’s not as big as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV.
With frequent expansions and content drops, a lot of work and love has been funnelled into ESO, and many fans were excited to find out just what Project Blackbird actually was. Unfortunately, it seems that we’ll never get to actually play what the talented MMORPG developers were working on.

Here we are yet again with another game release for the Commodore Amiga! As I’ve recently been informed, that Amiga Factory has released the action platformer of ‘HUNDRA’ for AGA systems. An 8 bit port of a game, that was originally published back in 1988 by Dinamic Software and Mastertronic for the Amstrad, ZX-Spectrum and MSX. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided the latest footage as well as further details from the developer about the game below.
And here’s the details. “This port was developed by Amiga Factory in 2025 using the REDPILL game creation engine (Zener). It uses entirely new graphics created by Amiga Factory in 64 colors. Parallax backgrounds, lighting effects, particle effects, and other features added in the latest versions of REDPILL have been added. The music is entirely taken from TMA. A high-quality splash HAM screen has been added, as well as another one as a tribute to the Amstrad CPC version. It contains an Easter egg reminiscent of another game from the Spanish golden age software. Find out what it is and how to view it!”

Escape From Tarkov Reveals Release Date & Roadmap After 8 Years In Early Access
Is this the real life?
Although we don’t have an exact date, the latest roadmap for Tarkov updates makes September seem very promising, and Battlestate Games’ head of studio Nikita Buyanov has confirmed the release date is set, and they are preparing for a public announcement.
(via x.com)
Respected and loved for its challenging nature, Escape from Tarkov is giving players the option of a hardcore wipe, which will make the best loot even harder to get.
Here’s what the Hardcore Wipe will include:
Disabled flea market
Increased item requirements for hideout zones.
Reduced spawn chance of rare loot
Hideout zones won’t require Found in Raid items.
“Just to clarify a little: it will not affect whole loot but rather how good weapon mods, ammo and other stuff was easily available. And also not to be as excessive as current marked rooms – finding Ledx should be something really worth the raid.”
—BattleState Games Lead Community Manager.
The hardcore wipe will happen in July, and the option is clearly designed to make the game more of a grind, so that players really have to work harder to earn the top-tier weaponry and loot, but feelings in the Tarkov community appear to be mixed.
“My hope was that hardcore would place greater emphasis on looting, crafting, and bartering, but it seems like they’re just going with the approach of making the game as miserable and slow as possible,” said reddit user epraider (via r/EscapefromTarkov).
Followed by the hardcore wipe patch, which includes new prestige levels and new PMC customization options, BattleState Games will follow up with another big patch in August.
Here’s what the EFT Patch 0.16.9.0 will include:
Limited-time in-game event.
Balancing fixes, QoL changes, and cumulative fixes based on player feedback.
Shoreline, Ground Zero, Interchange optimization.
Escape from Tarkov PvE and EFT: Arena synchronization.
New PMC customization options.
Fall weather season.
Escape from Tarkov will finally be fully released after entering beta in July 2017, and will be available to download on Steam shortly after the launch of 1.0. While some players may be a bit weary of how grindy the hardcore wipe seems at first glance, it’s still too early to tell how it will actually play out, and players will have the ability to opt out.

Escape From Tarkov Finally Kills Flashlight Meta

At its core, Ironheart explores how far people will go to make up for their past failings — and how those efforts can go wrong. Even a noble goal can lead someone down a dark path, the show suggests, once personal desire starts clouding their plans.
The MCU has consistently explored how the road to hell is paved with good intentions, starting with Tony Stark’s redemption in 2008’s Iron Man, and continuing through characters like Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision, Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Along. All of them are well-meaning at one point or another, but personal motives steer them into darker territory. Marvel Studios has had several chances to introduce an existing Marvel Comics character who fully embodies this arc, and while his debut has been rumored for many of these stories, it seems the company has been holding off until he could appear alongside Riri Williams, bringing the theme full circle back to Tony Stark.
Who is this mysterious character who’s been looming in the minds of Marvel theorists for years? This is a spoiler of epic proportions, so for those who don’t want to know where the final episode of Ironheart goes, you’ve been warned.
[Ed. note: Major Ironheart character introduction spoiler ahead.]

In Ironheart’s season 1 finale, Sacha Baron Cohen portrays Mephisto as the physical manifestation of making a deal with the devil, presenting Riri with an offer she can’t refuse. It’s revealed that he offered a similar deal to Peter Robinson, aka The Hood, by giving him a cape powered by dark magic. As The Hood is attempting to escape capture during a heist, the mysterious Mephisto rescues him and offers to make him richer and more influential than the father who ostracized and abandoned Peter as a child. The catch: Peter can never be without the cape, or he will suffer physical pain and hear voices in his head, enticing him to wear it again.
Like most wishes in fiction, Mephisto’s offers are monkey’s paws, with stipulations that sour the wish’s fulfillment. For Peter, wearing the cape makes him easier to manipulate, and he becomes addicted to its power.
Mephisto’s offer for Riri is similarly double-sided. At the end of the series, she loses her AI bestie, who took the shape of her murdered best friend, Natalie. Mephisto offers a way to bring her back. Riri takes the devil’s deal, but instead of Natalie returning, Riri finds herself with a new look, in what we can assume is a new multiverse setting where Natalie never died. But what does that mean for the rest of Riri’s family?
If her new Afro hairdo and ’60s retro-tech locale mean anything, she could be in the same alternate-universe setting as the new Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four: First Steps. That doesn’t bode well for her, considering that Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, is approaching. But that may become Riri’s Iron Man moment: Creating a new suit of armor and helping the Fantastic Four save the world may be the jumping-off point for her redemption arc, just like Tony Stark, years prior, joining the Avengers to save the world from an alien invasion.

Back in 2021, fans speculated for weeks that WandaVision would introduce Mephisto to the MCU, citing the show’s hexagon motif and the presence of Agatha Harkness, who’s associated with Mephisto in the comics. But he never appeared. The Mephisto theories reignited with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which drew inspiration from One More Day, a Marvel Comics arc where Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life at the cost of his future with MJ.
In Marvel Comics, Mephisto is essentially the devil, and it’s easier to list heroes he hasn’t tangled with than the ones he has. He played a role in the 1991 comics miniseries Infinity Gauntlet, which Avengers: Infinity War borrows from. He’s a frequent foe of Doctor Strange. A 1989 comic even revealed that Wanda Maximoff’s twin sons were created using fragments of his soul.
Now that Mephisto has been introduced to the MCU, it isn’t a matter of whether he’ll return — there’s just too much story potential in a supernaturally powered villain who offers people whatever they want, at unpredictable and terrible costs. He’ll be back. It’s just a question of when and how much of a role he’ll have as Marvel launches Phase Six of its cinematic project.
All six episodes of Ironheart are streaming on Disney Plus now.
While Outriders may have failed to recoup its own development budget, there was still hope among fans, myself included, that a sequel could build upon the first game’s solid foundations and fulfil its potential. Sadly, a new report has laid that hope to rest, claiming that Outriders 2 has been cancelled.
Thumb Wars broke the story, stating a source informed them that Outriders 2 was one of the recently publically cancelled projects. The information was apparently verified by a secondary source as well. According to the sources, the game was “nearly finished” and that the “development team only became aware of the gravity of the studio’s situation at the same time as everyone else.”
This information should be taken with a dose of salt. Established in 2024, Thumb Wars does not have a track record for breaking exclusive stories and their writing team doesn’t have much experience. This isn’t to say that they do not have sources or can’t have access to exclusive information, just that their claims should be treated with reasonable scepticism.
The situation Thumb Wars refers to is People Can Fly’s ongoing financial problems. While the company has seen growing revenue over the past few years, profits have not risen. In fact, they’ve reported over -$60 million in loses.
Right now, the company is being kept afloat by its ongoing work on Gears of War: E-Day, along with working on a mystery project with Sony on a PlayStation IP. They are also going to release Lost Rift – an FPS that blends base-building, cooperative PvE, and intense PvPvE gameplay – into Early Access “soon”.
Outriders was an interesting sci-fi title that managed to draw in 3.5 million players in its first month, largely due to launching onto Game Pass, and while the reviews were nothing amazing, a lot of people seemed to quite like the game. However, it did not manage to break even, as was confirmed multiple times by People Can Fly in financial documents. The publishing deal with Square Enix allowed People Can Fly to earn royalties only after Outriders recouped its development costs, including distribution and marketing. Outriders failed to earn any royalties, and therefore did not make back its costs, sadly.
A sequel was therefore already a riskier proposition. I personally thought a sequel had a lot of potential, so I’m sad that we won’t get to play the finished project.
Mecha Break is the mecha shooter game by Kingsoft subsidiary Amazing Seasun Games. While there have been Mecha Break codes available throughout the demo periods, we’ve got all you need to know on codes for the full release.
You’ll take on the role of a mech pilot dealing with the fallout of a dystopian catastrophe in the year 2082, which led to an energy crisis on earth. You’ll deal with polluted areas known as Fading Zones, where only mechs can operate. Throughout these zones, mech pilots need to clear the pollution.

Now Playing: Mecha BREAK – Release Date Announcement Trailer
Working in teams, you’ll blast through different game modes. There are several different mech roles to take on: Attacker, Defender, Supporter, Brawler, and Sniper. Of course, the inclusion of Mecha Break codes is invaluable in a free-to-play game, so we’ve got all of them listed here, as well as how to find more codes, and other free rewards including free Corite and more.
All new Mecha Break codes
There are not currently any active Mecha Break codes. As the game is only just launching to the public, we expect this to change soon and will update this guide as soon as codes become available.
During the demo in February 2025, Mecha Break players could receive rewards for a daily check-in in the official Discord server for the game. Though this has now ended, we wouldn’t be surprised if Amazing Seasun has a launch rewards campaign coming, so we’ll have all the details if that happens.
At the release of Mecha Break, there will be Twitch drops you can earn for watching your favorite creators on the streaming platform. We’ll have all of the information when those exact rewards are revealed.
How to redeem Mecha Break codes
Copy your code from the list above, and then enter the game. Open the menu by pressing Escape on your keyboard, and you’ll see a “Redeem Gift” option. Open this menu, paste your code, and confirm.
Then, in the bottom-left corner, open up the mail section. The mail will be titled “Your gift code has been redeemed.” Open this to collect the corresponding rewards for the code you’ve redeemed. You can then return to the exit menu to enter more codes, or continue playing the game with your new freebies.
With more than 300,000 concurrent players at one stage during the demo, Mecha Break has outperformed even Marvel Rivals already. We’re sure Amazing Seasun will be adding plenty of rewards and free Mecha Break codes as a thank-you for your loyalty, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back regularly.
Rumors have been swirling for a while now that Xbox’s flagship series, Halo, might be making the leap to PlayStation in the near future. There have also been rumors about a remake of the OG game. Now, Halo Studios, formerly 343 Industries, has stepped forward to explain that it will provide actual information later this year.
Long-Lost Halo Demo Comes To Life
Earlier this month, Xbox boss Phil Spencer ended the company’s Summer Showcase with a tease for what’s coming in 2026, promising a new Fable, a new Gears of War, the next Forza, and hinting at Halo by saying: “and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning.” This followed reports that Halo would leap to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. Gears of War is making that leap later this year, so it seems plausible Halo might do the same. The rumors and speculation have grown so large that Halo Studios has directly addressed them in a new blog post.
On June 30, Halo Studios Esports Lead Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic shared a blog post about the Halo World Championship happening in October and how people can buy tickets for the event. But the blog post also addressed all the speculation about Halo.
“Over the past few weeks, there’s been a fair amount of speculation about when and where more details might emerge about any of the multiple projects Halo Studios is actively working on,” said Tashi. “We don’t usually comment on such matters, but this time we want to enter the chat and share a little more perspective for Halo fans who might be on the fence about whether to attend this year’s event.”
Tashi explained that last October, during Halo WC, the studio unveiled “A New Dawn,” a short video revealing the news that 343 was becoming Halo Studios and shifting to Unreal Engine. He further explained that “A New Dawn” was “just the beginning” and that at this year’s Halo WC, the team “look(s) forward to continuing the conversation.”
“Speculation is always fun, but if you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been working on, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship,” said Tashi. “We really hope you’ll join us in Seattle this October!”
So Halo might be coming to PS5. There might be a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved happening. There might be more to share beyond that. But we have to wait until October to find out. Ironically Tashi’s post, meant to address speculation, will likely lead to even more speculation and rumors appearing online. October can’t come soon enough.

Palia offers various types of Bugs that players can catch while doing the Bug Catching Guild. Catching all rarities of bugs is the crucial step of leveling up the Bug Catching Guild to unlock advanced versions of the Belt, as well as new items and crafting recipes at the Bug Catching Guild Store. One of the common Bugs that players can catch is the Paper Lantern Bug. This guide will focus on where you can find and how you can catch the Paper Lantern Bug in Palia.
Where to Find Paper Lantern Bug in Palia
The Paper Lantern Bug is one of the common bugs in the game that spawn in the coastal areas of the Bahari Bay map region. It only spawns during the Evening and Night (6 PM to 3 AM) in-game time. Go to the eastern side of Bahari Bay to reach the coastal areas. Search in areas like Beachcomber Cove, Lighthouse Lagoon, and Coral Shores to have a high chance of finding it.
How to Catch Paper Lantern Bug in Palia
Catching the Paper Lantern Bug is easier than other bugs. It gives away its location quite easily due to the glowing light during the nighttime. Moreover, it also makes a noise when you get close to it, giving its position away. However, make sure to equip the Smoke Bombs beforehand so that you can stun it before it gets away.
Additionally, stunning the Paper Lantern Bug will require a couple of Smoke Bombs, so make sure you bring enough to stun it when you find it. If the Paper Lantern Bug gets alerted, it will try to flee by flying in a straight line. It is best to throw the Sticky Smoke Bombs on it to slow it down and then use the regular Smoke Bombs to stun it.
After stunning the Paper Lantern Bug, go near it and interact with it to pick it up. The Paper Lantern Bug has a chance of dropping a Bahari Nettle Flower or the Lantern Bug Plush.
Uses of Paper Lantern Bug in Palia
Paper Lantern Bug is one of the main requirements to complete the Mine Mystery friendship quest for Hodari. Moreover, it is also a requirement for the Brightbug Bundle of the Vault of the Flames. Other than that, you can sell it for 20 Gold (Base) or 30 Gold (Star Quality) to Zeki or at the Shipping Bin. Moreover, you can also gift it to certain villagers who like it or those who need it. If you catch any Paper Lantern Bug, store it in the storage so you can give it to villagers who need it. The needs of villagers change every week, so keep your eyes on them.
