Watch Eminem React To Being Called “That Guy From Fortnite”



In 2023, rapper and occasional actor Eminem lent his likeness to Fortnite for three different skins based on his different personas. That was just a small blip in Eminem’s two-decade-plus career as an entertainer. But the rapper was recently recognized as “the guy from Fortnite.”

The Eminem Bible shared the video on X, and the rapper himself had a great response. Eminem simply cracked up at the joke, and the fan immediately admitted that he was only kidding.

Eminem returned to Fortnite last year as Epic Games debuted the Mythic RG Minigun. This weapon could actually shoot bullets and drop Eminem’s music and lyrics in tune to the gun’s rate of fire. Eminem was also featured in the star-studded concert event that closed out Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 alongside Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, and a tribute to the late rapper Juice WRLD.

Although Eminem hasn’t made many video game appearances, his music has been used to promote titles before, including the launch trailer for Final Fantasy 15 and the soundtrack for WWE 2K19. In 2022, Kirk Ewing shared a story about a Hollywood producer approaching Rockstar Games about a Grand Theft Auto movie starring Eminem and directed by Top Gun helmer Tony Scott. According to Ewing, Rockstar’s Sam Houser turned down the pitch.

As for Fortnite, some of the game’s next collaborations include the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and potentially Friday the 13’s Jason Voorhees and Scream’s Ghostface.

The first leg of the Battlefield 6 beta is live, for those who managed to get a code. Everyone else, however, is seemingly just as happy to spend their time watching any of the thousands of Twitch streamers currently playing the game.

And, right now, that appears to be every major streamer on Twitch, together with all the longtime Battlefield streamers.

As of this writing, the Battlefield 6 beta has 750,000 viewers on Twitch. If you look at that top Twitch row, the next five games – combined – have a total number of viewers that’s just below BF6’s number of concurrent viewers. That’s League of Legends, Just Chating, Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and GTA 5.

Battlefield 6 is very hot right now, which makes it an attractive game for viewers. That ineabitably means everyone on Twitch will be streaming it. This phenomenon isn’t exclusive to Battlefiled games, or even shooters, but it is rare to see it for a Battlefield title.

Indeed, another reason for this surge in popularity is that players who do not have access to the Early Access portion of the beta are incentivised to watch for just 30 minutes to receive a code. The same Twitch Drops event also awards players with various other weapon and character skins for watching beyond the 30 minutes.

Of course, none of these incentives would be enough to convince anyone to watch something they’re simply not interested in. As we’ve seen from the Battlefield 6 beta’s staggering numbers on Steam, and the response coming out of the recent multiplayer reveal event, DICE and EA clearly have a hit on their hands.

Smoothie is a type of consumable, and it comes in many varieties, with each one offering unique buffs and healing. Smoothies Overview in Grounded 2

Smoothie is a consumable type in Grounded 2, which offers healing and unique buffs temporarily to a player. Similar to the cooked food, a smoothie is a mixture of different resources/ingredients. Moreover, the smoothie comes in three different types: Basic, Beefy, and Sticky. Each Smoothie type has a certain duration of healing and status effects. For instance, if a Basic Smoothie provides you with certain status effects for two minutes, the same Smoothie but with a Sticky Base will provide those effects for four minutes. Lastly, the Beefy Smoothie type is useful for healing, as it doubles the duration of the healing effect.

To make smoothies in Grounded 2, players will have to unlock the Smoothie Station, which unlocks at Brainpower Level 3. After crafting the Smoothie Station, players can use it to craft various smoothies. However, they will first have to unlock the Smoothie recipes by gathering a certain resource and analyzing it at a Resource Analyzer in the Ranger Station. After unlocking the recipes, players will find the recipes at the Smoothie Station. They can select and prepare the smoothies that they like and change the type of smoothie as well. Any smoothie recipe can be prepared in any type. Just make sure to change the Smoothie Base ingredient to change its type.

It’s a huge month for Helldivers 2 thanks to the upcoming release on Xbox consoles. Arrowhead are back from their annual summer vacation, and they are focusing on bug fixes and performance to get the game in as good a state as possible before Microsoft players jump onboard. They have just released update 01.003.202, and the Helldivers 2 CEO has said more fixes will be delivered “hopefully soon” as part of an apology.

On Discord, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has been responding to a lot of complaints about performance issues. One user commented that there are “significant drops in FPS when diving on a planet” for PS5, and the user added they are “not playing [and] neither are my buddies until this is resolved”.

In response, Jorjani said “sorry for the inconvenience” and stated that a fix will be delivered “hopefully soon”.

Unfortunately, it’s not only PS5 suffering from performance issues as players on PC are reporting woes, too. A user commented, “I’m using a rx 5500 xt with a ryzen 9 3950x and 16gb ram and the game struggles to get over 25 fps in high difficulties”. To this, Jorjani said “sorry” again, and stated Arrowhead will be “looking at performance more,” but there is the conundrum that the “more new stuff we [Arrowhead] add the more challenging performance becomes”.

Another issue Jorjani “noted” is “The icons in the armour menu load[ing] quite slowly on PS5″. Jorjani also said performance is “Always something we’ll work on” in response to a user remarking, “The game is running like hot garbage for a lot of people including myself, especially on the megacity maps”.

As for how Arrowhead are prioritising what to fix, Jorjani explained, “Bugs rank A, showstoppers. B major impact on gameplay and C minor impact. We [Arrowhead] prioritize accordingly. But not only in that order. So, we tackle all three categories in parallel”.

Lastly, Jorjani revealed that Arrowhead are in the process of creating a “blog post”. The idea is that this will better communicate what bugs and issues are getting prioritized and why.

With the release of Helldivers 2 on Xbox slated for August 26th, it’s likely we will receive more updates before. Patches typically come out on Tuesday, so hopefully the next patch will be released by August 12th or at least the 19th.

There’s no denying that Switch 2 has been an absolute sales sensation. At the same time, though, it’s been sorely lacking must-have early titles for those who would get limited mileage out of Mario Kart World.

Of course, a “must-have” game is a highly debatable concept. For some, the rather excellent Donkey Kong Bananza was another example (who else has achieved 100%?). For others, 3D platformers aren’t really of interest, and the premium price of the console isn’t warranted by the current line-up (a lot of which consists of third-party titles that are also available elsewhere).

What’s needed, I feel, is a title from a completely different genre. Not an enhanced original Switch game, but something entirely new and suitably silly, though with a competitive edge.

Granted, there might not be many ARMS enthusiasts clamoring for a sequel, but the original served as a perfect pick-up early in the Switch’s life (arriving about three months after the system itself), and it would hit just that spot for me now.

I always felt that ARMS was just the sort of thing that slots nicely into a console’s post-launch period. It’s a game that you show to those curious about what a system can do, an accessible yet deceptively deep experience with a uniqueness that demands attention.

It has that tech demo appeal, but also offers something more robust. Face Raiders, this is not.

Presentation-wise, ARMS is rather like Punch-Out!! in its 3D incarnation: It’s an over-the-shoulder boxing game, but one with a huge variety of different characters to use and gloves to equip.

The primary gimmick of ARMS is that each combatant has long and stretchy arms, allowing them to strike foes at great distances. Each arm is controlled separately, and can perform either a quick, weaker punch or a stronger blow that must be charged up first.

It looks marvelously strange in action, and if using motion controls, it’s difficult to resist throwing those punches out repeatedly and haphazardly with nary a thought to defense. You should always keep one in reserve for blocking, though, because, unsurprisingly, your opponent will be quite keen on punching you in your face in return.

I Embraced It With Open ARMS, And I’d Do So Again

Other than a Rush special attack and a quick sort of dash/hop, that’s about it for ARMS’ controls, but there’s considerable depth in choosing the ARMS and character that suits you. There are strikes of differing speeds and ‘priorities’, those with elemental effects to hamper the opponent in different ways, and those that fly in different kinds of arcs.

You can even swap one in mid-match to try to counter-pick your opponent.

My overall point is, I went into ARMS thinking it would be gimmicky, Wii Sports boxing-y, and deeply unserious. It is all of these things, of course, as you’d expect from a game populated by characters called things like Spring Man, Master Mummy, and Ribbon Girl.

This isn’t to disrespect Master Mummy, of course, whose enormous tankiness and highly defensive playstyle I instantly gravitated to. I had an awful lot of fun with him in ranked mode, and progressed relatively far, crafting a loadout of shock ARMS that fitted perfectly with the character’s defensive leanings and making the best use I could of his attributes.

ARMS is deeply unserious, but it’s not just that. Advanced players could perfect the unique aerial movement of the game to do some incredible things, as I found when I took some humbling beatings as I advanced up the ladder.

The time-limited events that were held while Nintendo still remembered that ARMS existed were fun too, pitting one specific character against another and offering profile icon-style badges for supporting them.

ARMS, I feel, had the blueprint for success, but it just wasn’t quite done yet. Its support ended rather abruptly, as, it seemed, did everybody else on the planet’s enthusiasm to play it online. This only really left the obligatory fighting game arcade mode.

It was all a bit unceremonious, to say the least, and because of that, I very much doubt that a full-blown sequel is at the top of Nintendo’s priority list. If it’s on any list, it’s probably one that’s screwed up and thrown in a trash bin somewhere at HQ.

Still, I have half a kernel of hope that Switch 2 could see ARMS 2. The idea had a bucketload of potential, and it was such a great fit for Nintendo’s inclusive, accessible, deceptively deep ethos. You wouldn’t think that a property like Splatoon or Pokemon (most recently seen bringing its own Z-A Switch 2 bundle to our attention) could have such a competitive core until you dove into it, and that would apply here too.

The hardware could allow for a bigger and more ambitious sequel, and that would be very important if a hypothetical follow-up were to get any traction. I can dream.

DnD and Critical Role have entered the TTRPG Cold War era and I’m thrilled


Tabletop role-playing games fans usually get their excitement from letting their imagination run free and living amazing adventures from the comfort of their homes. However, that excitement is spilling out into the real world as some noticeable momentum is rocking the status quo in the TTRPG industry.

Earlier this year, the two biggest designers responsible for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, left Wizards of the Coast to pursue new professional avenues. In June, the two were presented as the new creative director and game director for Darrington Press, the tabletop-games publishing arm of Critical Role. This came on the heels of the official release of Critical Role’s first TTRPG: Daggerheart. After the group became famous for playing D&D on their successful actual play show, which spawned a multimedia sensation, they are now ready to offer an alternative for gamers.

While I love drama just as much as anyone else, one thing must be clear: The two sides are not at odds. Critical Role and Wizards of the Coast are still working together, and Mercer & Co.’s recently announced Campaign 4 will likely be using the D&D system like the three previous ones. Perkins and Crawford continue to appear in official D&D posts on social media and at other promotional events. Both parties have made it clear that their relationship is as amicable as possible. However, just like during the Cold War, it seems that the TTRPGs world will now be gravitating around two superpowers whose choices and actions will, in large part, influence the future of the industry. And among the two sides, one seems a lot more active and bolder than the other.

After the announcement on Aug. 4 that Brennan Lee Mulligan will be the dungeon master for Critical Role’s campaign 4, it’s undeniable that, as we wrote in our coverage of that news, “When it comes to dominating the TTRPG scene, Critical Role can’t stop, won’t stop.” They have now officially assembled an all-star team that will make comparisons with the Avengers trite but inevitable. But if Critical Role has become the World’s Mightiest Heroes of TTRPG, then what about Wizards of the Coast? The company that, you know, owns the rights to the game that made Critical Role a thing?

Marvel Comics fans with a mischievous attitude may be quick to compare Wizards with the Champions or even the Great Lake Avengers, but the company is actually not sitting on its hands. On June 30, Dan Ayoub, who recently became the head of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise for Wizards, shared a post on D&D Beyond, aptly titled “D&D’s New Direction.” After acknowledging the importance that D&D had in his life and career, Ayoub wrote: “I’m here to open a dialogue with you – the players, Dungeon Masters, live stream watchers, and storytellers.” He then moved to list the four core points of this strategy: a reassurance that the D&D 2024 rules do not replace 5e but enhance them; the promise to update the System Reference Document (SRD) regularly; the reveal that the Maps virtual tabletop system will be free for all D&D Beyond users, starting Sep. 16; the announcement of a new initiative “to create a rotating advisory group made of creators, publishers, educators, and fans,” which will help the company shape future tools, policies, and products.

The point about the SRD will surely reassure the many creators who publish their own D&D products under the Creative Commons license, and making Maps free will improve many online games, but the final point looks like the most interesting. After having lost its top creative minds (as a reminder, Mike Mearls, another lead designer for 5e, left in 2024 for rival Chaosium,) Wizards’ D&D department clearly has to think about the future carefully and design a strategy that will let the product move forward without being offset by these losses. And the hits keep coming: The creator of the Eberron setting, Keith Baker, will design an original Daggerheart setting, while Crawford and Perkins are also developing their own setting for Darrington’s game. It seems that Wizards’ strategy will be to get the community and its most active members more involved. A grassroots approach may truly bring a fresh perspective to the product and push it in unexpected directions, but it will be interesting to see how it will clash with a company that has acquired a reputation for being ruthless and profit-driven in the eyes of those same fans it now wants to involve.

Again, there is no official competition between Critical Role and Wizards of the Coast. Daggerheart is still a newborn game, and even the great sales numbers from its release do not guarantee that it will ever reach the popularity and diffusion of Dungeons & Dragons. However, the latter’s recent mainstream success was built on a number of factors (hello, Stranger Things!) that include Critical Role’s popularity. What happens when Mercer, Willingham, Bailey, Riegel, etc., decide to put all their efforts into pushing their own game?

And even if we discard an hypothetical “D&D vs. Daggerheart” scenario, with the moves that Critical Role is making, at the very least Wizards should be worried, from a brand perspective, that the product it labels “The world’s greatest role-playing game” could soon be associated more easily with a third party than with the company that owns it.

Second Face Software have announced that their incredibly popular Portal: Revolution mod for Portal 2 has dropped the Native Linux build.

They’ve had a Native Linux build for a long time, but it became quite problematic and they weren’t able to solve the issues players kept encountering. So instead, they’re going to ensure it works with Proton where the issues didn’t happen.

As they mentioned in their announcement on Steam:

Portal: Revolution, from the start, has included a native Linux build. As some players have recently reported, it was broken because of recent Steam updates. To fix this we have decided to remove the native Linux binaries in favour of Proton. Don’t panic.


Our native Linux build sucked. You may have experienced frequent hangs and stutters related to gel rendering or other strange bugs. This stems from a bug in our multithreaded rendering code for gel blobs, and despite our best efforts we were not able to fix it. To make matters worse, it only happens on the native Linux build. Windows and Proton are not affected.


Because of these two reasons we’ll ditch the native build and run the game through Proton. Performance should be comparable, if not even better at times and stability is definitely improved.

Valve rated it Steam Deck Verified with the Native Linux version, so this means it will need to be reviewed again with Proton by Valve, otherwise it will cause problems on Steam Deck. For now, you may need to manually opt into using Proton for it in the properties -> Compatibility menu for the game on Steam to run properly.

In related news, earlier this year they also announced Portal: Revolution 2 is in development, so there’s more fun to come for Portal fans.
