Mafia: The Old Country Sales Prove How Popular The PS5 Is

Mafia: The Old Country Sales Prove How Popular The PS5 Is

Far and away, the PS5 has handily won this generation of consoles with the number of units sold and just the sheer market share when it comes to games. This doesn’t just apply to Sony’s first-party titles, as even third-party games sell more on the PS5 compared to its rival, the Xbox Series X|S.

One example of this is 2K Games’ recently released narrative-driven action game, Mafia: The Old Country.

While we now know how many units the title sold when it launched, what’s more surprising here is the breakdown of platforms on which the game was purchased.

Mafia: The Old Country Launch Sales Revealed And It’s Slanted For The PS5

In a report by Sensor Tower, it mentions Mafia: The Old Country has sold 800,000 units in its first five days of availability in all three platforms it’s available on.

According to the company’s data, the PS5 sales account for almost half of the total sales with 48% of units sold. Additionally, the company lists an average playtime of 8.8 hours, which is a few hours short of completing the game based on average playthroughs.

While 2K has not revealed any sales expectation numbers for the title, Sector Tower notes it as a “successful” launch that has been “embraced” by both PC and console gamers alike.

Even if it’s common knowledge nowadays that the PS5 has won this generation, I admit, seeing almost half of a game’s sales on the platform really puts things in perspective in terms of where people usually play games.

Given how Mafia: The Old Country isn’t priced as your usual AAA title at $70, and is instead, just $50, it could very well mean that developer Hangar 13 and 2K will require a smaller number of sales to make it a profitable project.

If you’re on the fence about it, check out our review, which highlights the strong cast of characters and crime drama narrative as some of its key strengths.

Have you played Mafia: The Old Country yet? If so, how do you rank it among the series entries?

Nearly 800 Looney Tunes shorts are now free to watch

Nearly 800 Looney Tunes shorts are now free to watch

After a rocky time with HBO Max, the Looney Tunes have found a home on an ad-supported free streaming service. As of Friday, 789 short films from the early days of the franchise can now be streamed on Tubi.

Tubi is starting to become something of a home for Bugs and Daffy. The newly available shorts join the 2010s The Looney Tunes Show, The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, and Tom and Jerry: Chuck Jones Collection on the streamer.

This comes after Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO Max’s parent company, removed a large chunk of its Looney Tunes library in 2023 from the platform. The film The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie was originally supposed to debut on HBO Max in 2022, but it got Batgirl’d. Ketchup Entertainment eventually released the movie in theaters in 2024. (It’s now streaming on HBO Max. Irony!) Coyote vs. Acme got the same tax-write-off treatment, but is now set for a 2026 theatrical release.

All in all, it’s looking like the 2020s might be the decade of the Tunes revival — or the decade of Tubi.

Dungeon Grid Steam Review

Dungeon Grid Steam Review

Dungeon Grid hasn’t come out yet on steam, but there’s no excuse for the shape it is in. Imagine a game with no music or sound effects, no settings, a useless tutorial, horrible controls and just all around broken. The game is similar to auto-battlers, except you have to select a particular weapon to use it, and it has a health bar. You also have a health bar, but it doesn’t seem you can die.. ok you can, but it takes a really long time. If you defeat all the enemies, you can buy new weapons at the shop in-between. You control with WASD keys, and select the individual parts with your mouse… not fun. Oh yeah, and if you destroy all your weapons in a level, you are dead because you can only buy between levels.

Dungeon Grid in explicably crashed all the time on Steam Deck, and on my PC. As I also said, there is no sound at all, and no settings in the settings menu. The tutorial is this:

English is not the developer’s first language despite being named Connor Snow

As you can see, it tells you what to do, but explains nothing. Like how do I get good? I don’t think there is such a thing with this game. Anyways, Dungeon Grid is about as good as Null Gravity Labyrinth and that’s horrifying for a game on keymailer. This is a barely functional piece of crap and I wish it hadn’t promised to review it, otherwise I wouldn’t have, because it sucks. This gets a Garbage Verdict and 1 score. I’m not even gonna bother getting 300 words for SEO purposes because I really do not care. I want to get the horror over with and move on.

Overall: Dungeon Grid is a piece of garbage that barely works and is not fun at all. Stay, far, far away from this.

Verdict: Garbage

Score: 1

WNBA players to play alongside NBA stars in NBA 2K26 MyTeam for the first time with new game mode announced

WNBA players to play alongside NBA stars in NBA 2K26 MyTeam for the first time with new game mode announced

Women’s NBA players are set to take the court alongside their male NBA counterparts in NBA 2K26’s MyTeam mode for the first time. WNBA players will appear in all MyTeam game modes, including the new Breakout: Gauntlet mode where players complete a series of matches where the difficulty gets harder and harder, but they can only use each card in the collection once.

WNBA players have been part of the dominant 2K franchise since the introduction of 12 WNBA teams in NBA 2K20. But it took another two years until NBA 2K22 for Candace Parker to become the first female cover star.

In-game, the Attributes and Badges for both NBA and WNBA players’ cards will “function identically”, which 2K hopes will give a “balanced, consistent gameplay experience no matter who is on the court”.

Watch on YouTube

This news comes after EA’s flagship sports game, EA Sports FC 26, announced four new female Icons joining its roster of legendary players in Ultimate Team. Male and female players have shared the pitch in FC Ultimate Team for the last couple of years in a move that’s been largely successful, if not without its difficulties.

Comparing the two sports franchises, it will be interesting to see how WNBA stars are balanced within the meta of 2K26 MyTeam, where EA Sports FC has struggled to keep all but very top-tier women’s players competitive – with some notable exceptions.

As well as new player cards there will also be a dedicated WNBA Domination tier, and you will be able to customize your team with every WNBA uniform and the entire league’s court floors.

NBA 2K26 will launch on September 5th, with Early Access starting on August 29th, for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles and PC.

Adventures Of Sonic: The Complete Series Blu-Ray Gets Limited-Time Price Cut

Adventures Of Sonic: The Complete Series Blu-Ray Gets Limited-Time Price Cut

Amazon has a limited-time deal on Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series. Longtime Sonic fans can pick up the classic cartoon’s 65-episode run on Blu-ray for $39 (was $60). Adventures of Sonic premiered (and ended) in 1993, just two years after the Blue Blur introduced himself to Sega Genesis players for the first time. Even though this Blu-ray collection released back in 2022, Amazon’s deals on Adventures of Sonic still tend to sell out. While you’re there, check out some of the other Sonic animated series available on Blu-ray for cheap.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is notable as one of the first high-profile adaptations of a Sega game, capitalizing on the character’s popularity in North America. The series stars Jaleel White–best known for playing Urkel in the sitcom Family Matters–as the voice of Sonic, and features a long list of familiar sidekicks and villains, including Tails (Russi Taylor) and Dr. Robotnik (Long John Baldry). While subsequent TV shows, comics, and movies have filled Sonic’s backstory even more, back in the ’90s, this show gave fans their first look into the Sonic universe beyond the video games.

Sonic Prime: The Complete Series – Steelbook Edition

Sonic has starred in a bunch of other animated series over the years, many of which are available for bargain prices on Blu-ray and/or DVD. The Netflix animated series Sonic Prime just launched on Blu-ray in June. Sonic Prime: The Complete Series comes all three seasons of the show and the collectible steelbook case shown above for $27 (was $50). Another bargain is Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series on DVD for just $7.

All three Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movies are available on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray. Sonic 3 released on 4K in April with two unique Limited Edition Steelbooks, including an Amazon-exclusive Shadow the Hedgehog edition. Unfortunately, the Knuckles miniseries Steelbook Edition has been sold out for many months, and the Paramount series was only printed on standard Blu-ray.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Accused Of Censorship In Controversial Update

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Accused Of Censorship In Controversial Update

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been called a lot of things: Souls-slop, gooner-bait, a surprisingly good game. You can now add “censored” to the list after a recent 1.5 update made controversial changes to the game, seemingly to quell a backlash from some fans in China. A few diehard fans are now relieved they bought the game on disc knowing they can always access the original version of the action game that released last month.

The newest patch arrived earlier this week and made a bunch of changes, most of which seemed innocuous enough. Some were enthusiastically welcomed, like a sped-up healing animation, the ability to cancel out of a recovery animation by dodging, and improved i-frames when recovering from getting knocked down. Other changes were more ominous than they first appeared. “Added dialogs for some NPCs to complete some plots,” read one bullet point. “We will further optimize the exhaustion animations in the future to improve the plot performance.”

What was developer Leenzee talking about? It soon became clear. As shared on social media by Souls aficionado and early advocate for Wuchang Lance McDonald, “what they mean is they made it so you can no longer kill any historically significant bosses or NPCs, and instead they just get ‘exhausted’ and relax after the fight and talk to you LMAO.” Historical figures that previously died within the fiction of the game like Liu Wenxiu, Liu Cheng’en, and Emperor Chongzhen now live on.

McDonald continued, “Like actual censorship due to pressure from Chinese players who were upset about being able to kill historically significant characters from the end of the Ming Dynasty. Crazy to see it. Players are reporting that the ‘pray’ gesture has been removed that you previously learned from the Portuguese Christian character in the game.” A series of Ming soldiers in Chapter 4 have also been changed to not fight the player, making a previously challenging section now a breeze to get through.

Combined with some more general nerfs to enemy armor and various boss fights, players have been revolting against patch 1.5 on Steam and Reddit, where some have accused the Wuchang subreddit mods of deleting complaints. “After 80 hours on Steam, I pulled the trigger for console,” one fan wrote. “Long Live Wuchang 1.0.” Some players are currently trying to roll back updates on Steam by editing files.

Not everyone’s raging against the latest update, as performance continues slowly but surely to improve on PC. Does that mean Wuchang‘s Steam review rating is finally recovering? Not quite. Complaints of framerate crashes have been replaced by review-bombing over the alleged censorship. For its part, Leenzee hasn’t said why it changed Wuchang‘s story. Update 1.5 went live on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S earlier today.

Mafia: The Old Country Sales Are Reasonable Thus Far

Mafia: The Old Country Sales Are Reasonable Thus Far

Mafia: The Old Country (review coming soon) has launched to a decent critical reception and what seems to decent sales so far.

These sales numbers are not official, so take them with a pinch of salt, but according to Sensor Tower the game’s sales are currently tracking at around 800,000 copies sold. The firm believes around 48.6% of those copies sold have been on PlayStation, with Steam contributing another 37.8%. Xbox numbers are rather small – 13.4%.

Let’s give these stats some extra context, shall we? The first Mafia clocks in 3 million copies sold. Mafia 2 sits at a cool 5 million, while Mafia 3 is the Don of the series at 7 million. Once you include the Definitive Editions, the publisher claims a total of 34 million Mafia games have been sold. There’s obviously a discrepancy there, because including Definitive Editions the grand total is about 19.1 million.

It’s hard to judge how well Mafia: The Old Country is doing at this point because we don’t know its development budget. Given the lower price-tag of just $49.99, it was likely made for a small amount, so it shouldn’t need to sell insane copies to turn a profit.

Still, 800,000 feels a little soft for the series. Hopefully, Mafia: The Old Country will have a good tail.

Further, you can take in the first six levels of the game, over on Steam right now, with it time limited until August 18th.

Stephanie Malham, Managing Director of Outright Games, added, “Chicken Run: Eggstraction is a true celebration of everything fans love about Aardman, humour, heart, and high-stakes hijinks. We’re thrilled to share this first look at the game on Steam and can’t wait for fans to experience an unforgettable heist that will truly ruffle some feathers!”

There’s a rather lovely little trailer to enjoy…

Original Article – June 24, 2025

The plot chickens once more!

Outright Games is teaming up with the legendary, multi-award-winning animation studio Aardman to release Chicken Run: Eggstraction, a brand-new action-stealth heist game.

Set to launch this autumn on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this new adventure picks up right where the 2023 film, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, left off.

This marks the first Chicken Run video game in 25 years, giving fans a whole new way to experience the charm, wit, and chaotic energy of the beloved stop-motion franchise. And yeah, we know that there’s some Chicken Run content in Park Beyond…

The Great Egg-scape Continues

The adventure is far from over for our feathered friends.

In Chicken Run: Eggstraction, the gang is working together to save chicken-kind from the clutches of the evil nugget industry. Players will take control of the iconic Chicken Run characters and embark on a series of high-stakes missions to infiltrate five heavily fortified farms and liberate the captive chickens within.

This top-down adventure is all about stealth, strategy, and a little bit of poultry-powered chaos. Your main objective is to sneak into a variety of dangerous locations. You’ll need to carefully study your surroundings and formulate a plan to get in, rescue the chickens, and get out without being caught.

You’ll also be tested on your stealth skills as you navigate a host of “eggstra” security measures. This means avoiding the gaze of watchful security cameras and hawkeyed humans.

In true Chicken Run fashion, your methods will be unconventional, from creating distractions to hiding in traffic cones to avoid detection.

Best of all, you don’t have to hatch your plans alone. The game is equipped for up to two players in local co-op, allowing you and a friend to team up, coordinate your actions, and execute the perfect heist together.

A Flock of Familiar Voices and New Faces

To ensure an authentic experience, Chicken Run: Eggstraction brings back key talent from the film. Bella Ramsey and Josie Sedgwick-Davies reprise their roles to voice Molly and Frizzle, respectively. The game’s new story has been penned by Larry Rickard, one of the contributors to Dawn of the Nugget.

Players can also expect to encounter new loopy poultry villains, along with a surprise cameo from the latest Wallace & Gromit film, Vengeance Most Fowl, to spot.

Sean Clarke, Managing Director at Aardman says, “We are delighted to be working with Outright Games to bring a new Chicken Run adventure to the gaming community. Developing a game of this scale has been an exciting endeavour and has been a fantastic opportunity to expand the Chicken Run universe and continue building the brand in new and engaging ways for fans old and new.”

Another Feather in Outright’s Cap?

It’s been a busy few weeks for Outright Games, with the family-friendly publisher announcing a slate of titles based on beloved properties. From the educational fun of Dora: Rainforest Rescue to the upcoming Chicken Run: Eggstraction, the publisher is continuing its mission to bring high-quality, accessible interactive entertainment to families on Xbox and all other major platforms.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Aardman on the release of Chicken Run: Eggstraction, and the first Chicken Run video game in 25 years,” said Stephanie Malham, Managing Director of Outright Games. “Aardman’s style is so distinct, and it’s been amazing to see how they’ve adapted it for a video game. We cannot wait for fans of all ages to explore this new chapter in the Chicken Run story, and to see how they can wing it through the chaos that awaits them.”

The chickens are counting on you to help them fly the coop. Prepare for a hilarious, high-stakes heist when Chicken Run: Eggstraction launches on Xbox and other platforms this autumn.

The Battlefield 6 beta’s second weekend adds new playlists, and a Custom Search feature that’s missing the one thing we care about

The Battlefield 6 beta’s second weekend adds new playlists, and a Custom Search feature that’s missing the one thing we care about

The second and final weekend of the Battlefield 6 beta has officially kicked off, giving everyone another chance to spend a few more days with the game’s explosive multiplayer action. We’ve known that this second portion would include new content – such as the new map and modes – but DICE also had a few other tweaks lined up

Some of the new additions are fairly standard; even predictable, but others reveal something about where the development team’s head is at.

Manage cookie settings

With the arrival of the Empire State map, and the addition of Rush, and Squad Deathmatch game modes, the list of possible options has grown. To facilitate this, the Battlefield 6 beta’s homepage will offer a rotating set of playlists that mix maps and modes.

This will change for every day of the beta, but don’t expect every playlist/combo to be available for each day. More interesting than the new playlists themselves, however, is the Custom Search feature.

This isn’t a server browser in the traditional sense – though DICE does seem to hint at one being in the works. Instead, it’s a feature that lets you pick the maps and modes you want to play on, and exclude those you don’t. You can even stick it to just one of each, such as when you want a 24/7 version of your favourite meatgrinder.

This way for Conquest, but not that Conquest.Image credit: EA, Battlefield Studios.

There are a few things worth noting about Custom Search, however. For one, it does not guarantee you’re going to end up in matches that fit your parameters. The system will only prioritise your choices, but if it takes too long to find a match, you’ll be thrown into one that may not fit them.

It’s also worth knowing that, for some reason, this feature only takes into account Open Weapon modes, meaning you can’t select Closed Weapon modes at all within it.

It is well worth having a look at the schedule of daily playlist rotations – listed below. Not only will it tell you what to expect for each day of the beta, there are some bizarre inconsistencies about which modes are considered for which banner and so on.

Battlefield 6 beta Weekend Two playlists

Day One – Thursday, August 14

Conquest.
Rush.
Attack & Defend (Breakthrough, Rush).
Close Quarters – Fast-paced playlist on smaller maps (Domination, King of the Hill).
Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough).

Day Two – Friday, August 15

Conquest.
Squad Deathmatch.
Close Quarters – Fast-paced playlist on smaller maps (Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch).
All-Out Warfare; Epic battles across expansive maps (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush).

Days Three & Four – Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17
