Samson Creative Director Apologizes For Messy Launch, Fixes Are Coming



Earlier today, open-world action game Samson arrived on Steam to mixed reviews and a lot of complaints about bugs and broken animations. In response, the game’s creative director, Christofer Sundberg, published a letter apologizing to players and promising that improvements and fixes were coming.

Launched on April 8, Samson is an ambitious but messy open-world action game focused on gritty melee encounters and heavy-feeling car combat. As I explained in my review, Samson has some neat ideas in it, but it’s a slog to play due to some bad design choices, optimization issues, and lots of bugs and glitches. And Sundberg, who is also a co-founder of the studio behind the low-rated game, agrees with this assessment, explaining in a new open letter on Steam that Samson launched in a state that is “unacceptable.”

“Early impressions are mixed, and many of you are experiencing game-breaking bugs and performance issues,” said Sundberg, who previously helped create the Just Cause franchise. “That’s unacceptable and we are listening to everyone’s feedback and are hard at work to deliver the game we spent years of our lives developing. Launching a game is a ton of work and I’m proud of the effort our team has put into seeing Samson from its initial concept, through release.”

“We are committed to the future of both Samson and Tyndalston, and this game will grow over time on all fronts: quality, gameplay, and content. Thank you all for supporting us and sticking with us this super exciting launch day. We will continue to keep our ears to the ground and improve the game with your support.”

Interestingly, Sundberg mentions that the team released the game with all its “flaws” for a “number of reasons,” but doesn’t elaborate on what those reasons might be.

The first step to fixing up Samson is a planned patch that is set to land on Friday which will hopefully improve some performance problems, fix some crashes, make sure some missions don’t break, and add fall damage to NPCs, so if they fall into an area you can’t reach but you need to kill them, they’ll die and not get stuck out of reach.

“But the work doesn’t stop there,” promised Sundberg. “Samson is here to stay, and we are not going anywhere. Here’s what we are continuing to do as we move forward: Continue to squash performance-related issues, improve gameplay-related issues, fix animation-related issues, and continue to polish.”

I’m not sure if even these fixes and tweaks will be enough to make Samson a good game, as it has bigger problems beyond bugs and clunky combat. But with enough updates, Samson could end up becoming a bit less janky to play. And that would be nice for GTA IV fans intrigued by Samson fans and its gritty crime-filled street-level action.

How to Unlock Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pocahontas unlocks at the end of the “Whispers in the Wind” quest for Moana in Disney Dreamlight Valley. It is the newly added quest for Moana that begins automatically after picking up the Glowing Algae over in Dazzle Beach. The hint for the Glowing Algae is in the letter from Moana, which you can read in the mail.

Head to the Mystery Island

After picking up the Glowing Algae, bring it to Moana. Go to Moana’s house and interact with the boating equipment to teleport to Mystery Island. Once there, follow the path to find Swirling Flower Petal Winds. Here, you will get a memory orb, giving you a hint about two digging spots. Now, go around the beach of the island and dig the spots to find jewelry pieces.

Solve the Mystery Island Puzzle

Bring the jewelry pieces to Moana, and an orb will spawn. Interact with the orb to access the Mystery Island Puzzle. To solve the puzzle, you have to connect all the pieces like a jigsaw puzzle. Drag the pieces from the left and rotate them to see where they fit. I suggest start filling out the borders first to make it easier to fill the center.

Fish out the final Jewelry Piece

After solving the puzzle, head to the boat at the Docks. Select the “East” destination to find a whirlpool with a ripple in the middle. However, before you can fish in the ripple, you must find three planks. To do so, interact with the boat and select the “North” destination. Here, you will find all three floating planks in the water. Pick up the planks and return to the whirlpool. Place down the planks and then fish out the Jewelry Piece from the ripple.

Repair the Jewelry

Now, head back to the Mystery Island. There will be a Crafting Station next to the docks. Interact with the crafting station and navigate to the “Requests” section to find the recipe for the Repaired Necklace. Craft the Repaired Necklace, and then bring it to Moana at the Flower Petal Winds.

Welcome Pocahontas

As you give the necklace to Moana, a brief cutscene will start, and Pocahontas will appear from the winds. Speak with Pocahontas and go through the dialogues to get the foundation for Pocahontas’s Yehakin. After speaking with Pocahontas, return to the Valley by interacting with the boating equipment near the docks. Once you are in the Valley, open the furniture mode to place the foundation of Pocahontas’s Yehakin anywhere in the Valley. After that, interact with Scrooge’s sign to finish building Pocahontas’s Yehakin.

Once done, Pocahontas will arrive in the Valley. You can welcome her by taking a picture with her. As you speak with her, it will complete the Whispers in the Wind quest.

From here, you can begin increasing your friendship level with Pocahontas to unlock her friendship quests.

The release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved – the remake of the very first Halo game – might have just had its release date leaked by a very reliable source.

Grunt.Api is someone on X who likes to play around in the API and backend files of all things Halo related. The account constantly leaked upcoming content for Halo Infinite and was one first people to say that 343 Studios (now Halo Studios) was going to jump over to the Unreal engine.

Anyway, Grunt.Api has now posted a slightly mysterious GIF of a comet in space and two math equations, one tagged with “EA” and the other “OR”. This is slightly aggrevating behaviour – I hate when insiders try to be cute with their information. Regardless, when you do the math it points toward July 23rd and 28th. The EA and OR tags presumably mean Early Access and the game’s regular release date.

Grunt.Api does not specifically state the tweet is about Halo: Campaign Evolved, but the assumption is that he’s referring to the game.

With the Xbox Showcase coming up, we will likely see the game appear there and maybe an official announcement confirming the release date.

As always, take this info with a pinch of salt, but Grunt does have a good track record, so it would not shock me if his claims are correct.

Call of the Elder Gods, the sequel to 2020’s Call of the Sea, is going to launch on May 12th developer Out of the Blue Games has confirmed. The platforms that Call of the Elder Gods is coming include PC, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series S|X. There is also a demo available on Steam for Call of the Elder Gods which lets you play the whole first chapter, and the save will carry over to the full release.

Call of the Elder Gods follows two characters, Professor Harry Everhart and Evangeline Drayton, as they embark on a journey to uncover haunting secrets. The description for the game says, “All is not well at Miskatonic University. Professor Harry Everhart tries to ignore the shadows flitting at the corners of his vision, while student Evangeline Drayton is haunted with impossible dreams of an artifact uncovered a decade ago. In their search for answers, the pair will uncover revelations more ancient than anyone could have imagined.”

In our Call of the Sea review, Steve said, “Call of the Sea’s original setting, narrative, and overall feel totally hooked me – even when I wasn’t playing I found myself working over the puzzles in my head. If you’re a fan of emotional stories and challenging logical puzzles then you should dive straight into this adventure.”

How to Get the Frozen Anguish Sword

Dress warm, Greymane, it’s about to get cold. The area we’ll be traveling to permeates a frigid aura that will leave you frozen solid—especially if your ice resistance is low.

There will also be flying mages casting ice spells from above, so I suggest equipping armor that will protect you from the cold, such as the frostcursed armor set, which is seen in the picture above.

How to Get Inside the Spire of Frost

There is an abyss nexus directly in front of the spire of frost (South), which is exactly where Kliff is standing in the picture above. The arrow highlights a staircase that leads to the main door, which is where you need to go.

Locate the abyss nexus and unlock it, and walk up the staircase.

Crimson Desert - How to Light Frozen Torches

The main door will be sealed when you arrive, and in order to open it, you’ll need to break the ice off the stone lantern seen in the picture above. This stone lantern is located right outside the main door, and you can break the ice with heavy attacks.

Once the ice has been removed, relight the lantern, and the door will open.

Find the Treasure Chest Under the Stairs

When you enter the spire, the first thing you’ll see is the base of the spiral staircase in the picture above. The frozen anguish sword is in a treasure chest hidden behind the spiral staircase, highlighted by the arrow in the picture above.

This sword may be tricky to retrieve amidst mage attacks and sub-zero temperatures, but it’s definitely worth it, and it has quickly become one of my favorite two-handed weapons.

The frozen anguish sword comes with increased attack speed, an attack stat of 25 that can be increased through refinement, and level one stamina siphon, which drains stamina from your targets so you can keep swinging until your heart’s content.

A cult classic from the 16-bit era returns as Greensnake releases a modernised PC remake of Torvak the Warrior, a legendary barbarian rebuilt from the ground up using the Godot engine. Independent developer Greensnake has released a faithful yet significantly enhanced remake of the 1990 Amiga hack-and-slash platformer, Torvak the Warrior. This new version serves as both a nostalgic trip for retro fans and a technical showcase for what is achievable in 2D platforming using the Godot Game Engine.

True to the source material, you control the titular hero, Torvak, a warrior armed with a signature double-headed axe. 32 years later, Amazon is rebooting an iconic, anti-capitalism sci-fi classic


Development Hell, thy name is RoboCop — no longer! After years of tentative hype, a TV series based on the original 1987 film is reportedly moving forward at Amazon’s Prime Video. Details are still vague, with everything from the intended showrunner to cast and crew as yet unknown.

Considering that the original RoboCop is a far-from-subtle indictment of a corporate-led monoculture, it could be said that the new Amazon-backed series transcends self-satire by its mere existence. Still, this might not come as a huge surprise to anyone who remembers the merchandising juggernaut of the original film, rife with gun-toting super-cop action figures, comparatively weak sequels, and not one but two animated series. Despite this, RoboCop remains a surprisingly thoughtful examination of a whole slew of societal ills. If Amazon’s reboot is going to succeed, there are a few things the new show’s creative team needs to keep in mind.

The body horror

Let’s face it, RoboCop is not for the faint of heart. Far from a thoughtless 1980s shoot-’em-up action flick, director Paul Verhoeven went out of his way to show the real and devastating personal cost for Alex Murphy (Peter Weller). As the victim of violent crime, he is pulled back from the brink of death and encased in a tomb-like control suit. As his memory flickers in and out and his bodily autonomy ebbs, Alex’s inner torment is deeply unsettling. Without that grisly body horror, the impact of his transformation into RoboCop would be muted, so here’s hoping the TV series leans all the way in.

The RoboCop armor

The practical effects of the original RoboCop are legendary, with elaborate death scenes and a heavy, clunky suit made out of polyurethane and fiberglass giving our antihero an unforgettable look. In the world of VFX, it’s now possible to almost entirely skip the endless months spent assembling the original RoboCop design, but there has to be a happy medium between making our next RoboCop wear an inflexible tank every day and casting us into total VFX unreality. The horror of RoboCop is the reality of it — if we don’t believe that there’s a broken man trapped in that trigger-happy murder suit, this whole series falls apart before it even begins.

With the well-documented rise in things like AI warfare, mass surveillance, and police brutality over the last several years, this iteration of RoboCop is going to have its job cut out for it saying something beyond simply reiterating 2026 headlines. After all, many of RoboCop’s 1987 predictions have come disturbingly true in some notable ways, with greedy corporate overlords destroying social safety nets in order to offer incentivized, privatized alternatives ringing unfortunately quite true in the modern era. The same oligarchs pushing untested, unproven tech with the goal of replacing human beings with a mechanical workforce also unfortunately does not sound much like science “fiction” these days, either.

Don’t forget, it’s funny

Maybe the most underappreciated element of the original film is that Verhoeven loves a good yuk. Much of the violence in the film is exaggerated to the point of absurdity, because the creative team simply thought it made the film funnier. Forget the political allegory; it might be more important that the showrunner commits to having as much fun as Verhoeven did while making the original.

The moral complexity

The original RoboCop actively avoids giving easy answers. By the time the credits roll, corporate overlord Dick Jones (Ronny Cox) has fallen, but the system still remains. Alex triumphs, but he’s still trapped inside a murder robot, forever alienated from his life’s purpose. The gun twirl he once amused his son with is the punctuation of the film, but even that reads more as a scathing acknowledgment of the cartoonish violence that a police state brings. Alex overcomes his programming, but the violent underbelly of the institutions he dedicated his life to protecting can’t be deterred by one man’s hero quest. That complexity is the heart of RoboCop, and that’s going to be what makes or breaks this attempt at reigniting the franchise.

Barring that, at least there’s bound to be some sick action sequences. Sign us up.

It doesn’t look like we’re going to be seeing Star Wars: Eclipse any time soon if this rumour is anything to go on. Apparently, the team has made “very little progress over months.”

The info comes via Insider Gaming’s latest podcast where the team was answering questions from viewers and readers. The topic of Quantic Dream’s Star Wars title was brought up.

According to Mike Straw, “they have a good chunk done, but for what they still need to do, it has not been going all that well.” He then pointed out that progress has been very slow lately.

“I won’t say it’s in development hell, but it’s very slow.” said Straw.

More worryingly, Straw seems to indicate that there’s a chance of the company being shut down or sold off. According to Straw, NetEase does not want to shut down Quantic Dream “but it would not surprise me based on the the conversations I’ve had if we see Quantic Dream – maybe you hear this year or next year – like, NetEase is selling it off or something because they’ve got to figure out what they’re doing and yeah, Eclipse just hasn’t been in the best of places.”

Mike Straw added more to context to his comments in a brief article on Insider Gaming. According to him, a source said back in December that the game was still likely years away, and that expanding the development team to speed things up wasn’t possible because NetEase didn’t want to invest even more into the project.

“Both NetEase and Quantic Dream, the source says, are really relying on Spellcasters Chronicles, which entered Early Access in February, to bring in revenue that can then be spent on Eclipse’s development,” write’s Straw.

Star Wars: Eclipse was announced way back in 2021, and since then we’ve barely heard anything from the game. It’s set hundreds of years before the events of the first movies, and is supposed to be an action-adventure game.

Quantic Dream popped up last year to promise us the game is still being made.
