Best-selling video games worldwide in October 2024 – WholesGame

In October 2024, Call of Duty cemented its place as the top-grossing video game across six key markets – France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the US. The franchise, including titles like Modern Warfare 2/3, Warzone, and Black Ops 6, showcased its enduring popularity and remarkable ability to capture player spending.

Close contenders on the revenue charts included Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, EA Sports FC 25, and Fortnite, which secured second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero! demonstrated exceptional performance on consoles, ascending to second place in revenue despite not featuring in the overall top 20 for monthly active users.

Meanwhile, Silent Hill 2 Remake marked a significant comeback for Konami’s iconic survival horror franchise. The game’s strong debut in ninth place highlighted the appeal of well-executed remakes, resonating deeply with both longtime fans and new audiences. This release underscored Konami’s ability to breathe new life into a dormant series with carefully crafted updates.

Another noteworthy performer was Super Mario Party Jamboree, which made an impressive debut in sixth place on the overall revenue chart. Despite its exclusivity to the Nintendo Switch, the game topped the console’s individual rankings, further reinforcing the enduring popularity of Nintendo’s family-oriented titles.

On the engagement front, Fortnite maintained its position as the world’s most-played game across all platforms. Despite Call of Duty’s record-breaking launch weekend, which achieved unprecedented franchise sales, it ranked second in terms of player engagement.

Overall, October 2024 demonstrated the diverse tastes of gamers, with high-performing titles spanning genres from sports to battle royale, survival horror, and anime-inspired adventures. The month also highlighted the success of nostalgic franchises, reinvigorated with modern technology, alongside fresh and dynamic gameplay experiences that keep players coming back for more.

Asobo states that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launch issues are now behind it | TheSixthAxis

Asobo states that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launch issues are now behind it | TheSixthAxis

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s launch server issues have been resolved, Asobo Studio has stated, with server capacity now increased to meet demand and reliability at over 99.999%. Patches are due next week on 2nd and 9th December aiming to make further client-side improvements and fixes.

Their update to the community follows on from launch woes that saw players shoved into unending queues and the servers unable to cope with demand. Hotfix 1 was released last Friday on 22nd November to address key snags that people were facing, though there is one outstanding issue with outdated marketplace content from MSFS 2020 clashing with the new install of MSFS 2024 on PC.

As noted last week, “outdated packages in your Community Folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior.” The advice was basically to remove that content.

Along these lines, most MSFS 2020 content has now been ported across to MSFS 2024, though with community reports and analytics showing that some 3rd party add-ons are still problematic, Asobo is currently blocking all MSFS 2020 non-aircraft content from use with MSFS 2024.

The patch on 9th December will add a feature for users to disable and enable content themselves, and a safe boot option that can deactivate all 3rd party content at once if you’re struggling to launch the game.

Here is an FAQ for outstanding issues.

Depending on the circles you fly in, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has maybe flown under the radar – heh – compared to its predecessor. The 2020 game was a marvel of conception and execution, able to approximate the entire world for players to fly in, and then with Asobo releasing a long-running stream of content updates to add more human-created touches of reality. MSFS 2024 sounds like it would be more iterative – and purchased content does carry forward – but has made some major changes to allow you to land and hop out of your aircraft, to bring a more meaningful career mode to the game with new mission types, and more.

LIGHT OF MOTIRAM takes Horizon Zero Dawn and turns it into a co-op survival game

LIGHT OF MOTIRAM takes Horizon Zero Dawn and turns it into a co-op survival game

Is this Palworld all over again? The copying here is pretty blatant. Tencent Games owned developer Polaris Quest revealed LIGHT OF MOTIRAM and it seems very familiar.

Picture this: you run around with a bow and arrow, or a spear, and come across various mechanical beasts that freely roam the world. You’ve heard that before right? Because that’s Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. But actually, it’s not, it’s LIGHT OF MOTIRAM.

Much like Palworld though, this adds quite a lot to the basic idea. There’s online co-op for up to 10 people, 100 different Mechanimals to tame, ride, customize and take into combat with you. A full building system that has “realistic physics” with crafting, making it more of a traditional open-world survival game. Even so, their inspiration is truly obvious. The combat looks a fair bit more like Monster Hunter though, which is interesting. It’s just the overall design work is very Horizon looking.

See their first teaser trailer below:

I must admit, I do love the look and sound of this one.
