A little later than I planned, but here’s the up to date list of games available on Amazon Prime Gaming, and what compatibility you can expect for Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck. Each week Prime Gaming, part of what you get with a subscription to Amazon Prime, add and remove various games you can claim to keep.

I’ll use the Steam Deck Rating from Valve ( Verified, steam deck playable Playable, steam deck unsupported Unsupported and steam deck not rated Not Rated), plus the ProtonDB rating to help you decide on what to play. Compatibility may be slightly different since the games are from various stores. Some of the games might also have no ratings right now.

According to reliable insider Nate the Hate, Microsoft is going full-steam ahead on its multiplatform plans and intends on being a “big supporter” of the Switch 2, or whatever Nintendo decides to call their new machine.

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, both The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator will launch on PS5 and Switch 2 this year.

“So, games I have heard will be released multplatform in 2025, beyond the obvious, include Microsoft Flight Simulator will come to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PS5 and Switch 2 as well.”

Nate did also comment that if the long-rumoured Gears of War collection was to release in 2025 he would expect that to come to PS5 as well. However, he did not say this as having any insider information, but more as a simple prediction based on everything else happening.

Nate went on to say that Microsoft “…is going to be a very big supporter of the Switch 2 when it does come out. They will be porting and patching the current Switch lineup, so games like Grounded and Pentiment. The Ori games will eventually find their way to Switch 2, will be patched with 4K support, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Sea of Thieves. Maybe Hi-Fi rush will find its way over. Just expect a lot of Microsoft games on Switch 2 and PS5 going forward.”

These would be the latest in a slow trickle of titles that began last year when Microsoft decided to put Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, Pentiment and Sea of Thieves on competitor’s platforms. Of these, Sea of Thieves wound up being the biggest success, doing very for itself on PlayStation.

Since then, more Microsoft published games have been announced for other platforms. Indiana Jones & The Great Circle will hit PS5 this year, and Doom: The Dark Ages, due to be shown off at this month’s Developer Direct, is scheduled to release on PlayStation on day one. The Outer Worlds 2 will also come to Sony’s machine.

Seeing the Halo franchise on PlayStation or Switch would be a massive moment. After all, while Halo’s reputation may not be what it once was, the name is still iconic within videogames and the franchise is inexorably linked to Xbox and vice versa. I cannot help but think the day Halo comes to another console will be the day when we finally accept that Xbox as we know it is gone.

Nate the Hate’s claims have seemingly been backed up by Windows Central’s Jez Corden, another big-name leaker with a good reputation for getting solid information. Jez’s own stance on Xbox exclusives has changed considerably over the past year, as he initially reported that Microsoft was planning on launching a few games on other platforms.

Since his initial reports though, Jez has began reporting that more and more games are being considered, indicating that plans have been changing quickly at Microsoft, perhaps buoyed by their successes and driven to radical action by declining hardware sales.

Relying to an outlet reporting on Nate the Hate’s words, Jez replied by simply saying “way more than that” is going to arrive on PlayStation and Switch.

Jez has expanded on his own words in an article on Windows Central where he states that he can corroborate Nate’s claims with his own sources. But he then goes on to say that:”…I’ve heard that in addition to the above Hellblade 2, Age of Mythology, and potentially Gears of War 1 Ultimate Edition are all also slated for PlayStation 5 this year too, although I’m unsure if that includes the Nintendo Switch 2. I would expect that it most likely does, if I had to guess that part.”

In some ways, Nate the Hate’s prediction feels like a very safe bet at this point. Microsoft continues to be vague and evasive about its plans, ut also keeps hinting and making decisions that point toward it becoming the world’s biggest third-party publisher rather than a company focused on producing its own hardware and exclusive software for it.

While it would still be a momentous occasion to see Master Chief on PlayStation, would it really be a surprise?

Looking for the best settings to maximize performance and frame rate in Marvel Rivals? The new hero shooter makes crossplay refreshingly simple, but optimizing your settings is a bit more of a complex task. Getting the best performance that you can out of the game on PC will take a little more legwork than getting into a lobby with your friends.

Sure, there’s an in-game option to optimize your graphics for PC players. But, this sort of just throws you into one of the presets: low, medium, high, or ultra. That can be a good place to start, but if you’re still having performance issues, it’s worth diving into the menu to see what you can change.

To find these settings, click on the gear, then settings. In the display menu, I settled on the following settings.

Display Mode: Fullscreen. Borderless Windowed works better with a multi-monitor setup, but Fullscreen is better for performance.Anti-Aliasing and Super Resolution Type: Nvidia DLSS (for those with Nvidia cards)Mode: QualitySharpening: 70-80 (This can be lowered further to try and improve performance, but it’s a small gain for a noticeable visual difference).Frame Generation Mode: OffLow Latency Mode: NVIDIA Reflex Low LatencyV-Sync: OffGlobal Illumination: SSGI – Low QualityReflection Quality: Screen Space ReflectionsModel Detail: MediumPost-Processing: LowShadow Detail: MediumTexture Detail: MediumEffects Detail: LowFoliage Quality: Medium

This is a good base to start from if you’re running into framerate issues. If everything runs smoothly, you can try upping the non-bolded settings above for options like Texture Detail to squeeze some prettier pixels out of your GPU. But if your frame rate still isn’t where you want it to be, there are some other worthwhile options. You can try lowering settings like foliage quality, shadow detail, and reflection quality. You may also want to try lowering your game’s resolution.

Yes, you can change your reticle already in Marvel Rivals! And, just like Overwatch, you can change these on a character-by-character basis. To find the menu, go to your preferred control method in the top menu (keyboard or controller), then go to combat. Here, in the HUD subsection, you’ll find the in-depth reticle editor. You choose from different types, like a simple dot or a set of crosshairs. You can create a custom color, and change the width and opacity.

As far as the best reticle, there is no 100% definitive answer. Get in this menu and experiment to see what works best for you! With this knowledge of the settings in your pocket, you’ll be better prepared than ever to help save the timeline!

I told myself I’d work through my hefty backlog over the Christmas break. That was a lie. While I did finish a few short video games, most of my gaming time was spent on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Diablo 4, and Marvel Rivals. All three were riddled with the traditional microtransactions, but only NetEase Games’ hero shooter didn’t feel like a chore to stay on top of.

By and large, I’m okay with battle passes. I think they’re a good alternative to gambling money on loot boxes and being tempted by overpriced premium skins, the latter of which are a thing regardless in most online games that have passes. If you’re someone who plays an online regularly and cares about cosmetics, battle passes are good value and help pay for the development of actual playable content for everyone. Their traditional implementation could be better though, and one key issue with the model is the fear of missing out (FOMO). Marvel Rivals swiftly fixed that by making passes not expire, but what about the average time to complete them?

After completely moving away from Overwatch, Marvel Rivals has felt like a winner in that same space so far. It looks gorgeous, exudes charm, is consistently fun to play, and runs well enough. Now, I’ve also begun to appreciate that it’s the rare breed of live service game that doesn’t feel like a second job if you want to complete its premium seasonal tracks and free events.

At first, I was very worried (and I’m still sorta annoyed) by the game approaching battle pass progression from a ‘daily/weekly challenges’ angle. For a game that prides itself in letting players embody their favorite heroes and villains from Marvel’s impressively rich multiverse, forcing us into certain missions and play styles a fair amount of time just to get the points needed to make progress on the passes and events isn’t ideal. It’s helped me spend more time with characters I wasn’t really paying attention to before, but I’d like to have the opportunity to progress just by playing.

I was, however, quite surprised by the rate at which I progressed through the (admittedly half-length) S0 pass. The daily amount of points I could get in short one-hour-ish sessions was quite generous even if it didn’t seem like much at the moment. A little below 15 hours later, I’d fully completed the pass. This would make the completion of Season 1’s regular pass around 30 hours in length, which honestly feels quite relaxed if the folks at NetEase stick to the planned three-month schedule.

As someone who jumps between wildly different games constantly (and not only because of work), I’ve given up on the idea of ever completing the battle pass for something that isn’t MTG Arena (an addiction I’ve currently escaped) or another card game you can play in small bursts. The time commitment just seems too high and not aimed at functional adults. Marvel Rivals’ devs and publisher, on the other hand, appear to be fully aware of this issue. Sure, this might translate in much less engagement when it comes to the total average of hours, but it might help with the recurring issue of players burning themselves out gradually. After completing the S0 pass, I just kept playing, and I can’t wait to hit S1 as soon as possible.

The Jeff-centric Christmas event was another pleasant surprise. Even without trying, only a handful of hours allowed me to gain the required ‘golden stars’ to progress through the slim track that ended with a cool winter skin for our favorite land shark. I’m well aware that such things might change in the future if NetEase and Marvel want to squeeze players harder, but right now, Marvel Rivals is feeling like early days Overwatch 1 in all the right ways.

Another byproduct of the first pass and event not steamrolling me is that I’ve been enjoying the game well enough to constantly jump into competitive matches. It turns out that letting players breathe a little bit and play ‘for fun’ more often leads to healthier, more curious habits. Shocker!

In the age of live service titles coming and going and a handful of massive whales controlling a space that’s too large in the crowded online gaming market, more player-friendly approaches such as Marvel Rivals’ are gravely needed. It’s not perfect by any means, and there’s room for both improvement and failure as the game grows bigger and gets into a groove, but as it stands, Marvel Rivals has much more going for it than brand appeal. I’m almost 33 now, and I don’t want to be pushed out of online gaming because of business-first practices.

Hell, NetEase and Marvel could keep hitting home runs with this banger and I might end up paying for a premium skin that’s sick enough. Sorry, but as great as Sue Storm’s rear looks with her Mistress of Hate skin, I’m the kind of nerd looking for legendary comic book-inspired looks instead.

Fairy Bubbles is one of the new crafting materials in Disney Dreamlight Valley that is exclusive to the Storybook Vale expansion. There are two different ways players can get Fairy Bubbles. Dig it from the ground, or use a watering can on the Bubbling Mushrooms.

To dig the Fairy Bubbles from the ground, players will have to unlock the Everafter biome, the second/third biome of Storybook Vale. The first area of this biome is The Wild Woods which players can unlock with 2,000 Story Magic. Players will reach this area during The Wolf of the Wilds quest for Merida.All of the areas of the Everafter biome have a chance to spawn Fairy Bubbles while digging.

For the second method, players have to use the Watering Can on the Bubbling Mushrooms to get the Fairy Bubbles. The Bubbling Mushrooms are only in the Everafter biome. You will find several Bubbling Mushrooms in the Everafter but you cannot remove them until you get the Watering Can upgrade by progressing in the story. Unlike digging for Fairy Bubbles, watering the Bubbling Mushrooms will guarantee a drop of Fairy Bubbles.

If you need Fairy Bubbles early in the game, go around the Everafter biome and dig the ground to get it.

Moreover, progress in the story to get the watering can upgrade and then start watering the Bubbling Mushrooms.

Avowed, a first-person fantasy role-playing game, will join the cloud when it launches on PC on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Take on the role of an Aedyr Empire envoy tasked with investigating a mysterious plague. Freely combine weapons and magic — harness dual-wield wands, pair a sword with a pistol or opt for a more traditional sword-and-shield approach. In-game companions — which join the players’ parties — have unique abilities and storylines that can be influenced by gamers’ choices.

Wreaking Havoc, One Car at a Time

I came to Sokomonster on the back of another from Afil Games, that of SokoCrab. That latter game is a straight up Sokoban styled puzzler; an easy playthrough that rarely ever provides a test of gaming skills or puzzle nous. Sokomonster on the other hand whips things up in more of a block sliding stylee as opposed to pushing. And it’s a LOT trickier as a result. It’s not as good either.

Monster that car kicking

In Sokomonster you play as a monster intent on wrecking havoc through a city. The keyart alone implies that this could well be seen as an alternative to something like Rampage from back in the day; a huge lizard pounding through town, grabbing cars, chucking them like confetti. In truth, it’s nothing of the sort and this single screen puzzler works very much like the plethora of other cheap and cheerful sliding puzzlers that the world has been overrun with. 

City Smashing Strategy: Mastering the Art of Car-Fu

The premise is simple – destroy the town that you find yourself frequenting, in this case by pushing stranded vehicles through a road system, smashing them into various sized buildings, flattening them in the process. Clear a stage of cars and buildings, and you’ll find yourself heading to a new location, tasked with repeating similar actions. As you would expect, those puzzles ramp up in difficulty too, and after just a few stages that welcome the player to the mechanics and ideas, Sokomonster fast turns into a bit of a brain melter. We have no qualms in admitting that roughly halfway through the 30 levels, a Youtube walkthrough was required to set us back on the right track. Our controllers and house walls thanked us for it. 

Walking into cars sends them shifting in a straight line, skidding along the streets until they come to a stop. From there, kicking them from another direction continues to send them north, south, east or west – at least that is until they come into contact with a building, at which point each explodes into smithereens. To complete Sokomonster, you’ll need to attempt to understand how each stage is set, moving cars from one place to another, banging into each other to open up new pathways and routes, occasionally using stuck-in-the-mud craters to aid. Only once you understand the intricacies, will you find success in your city domination plans.

Rarely deviates

Rarely does Sokomonster deviate from that idea. Yes, larger buildings need toppling, with two and three story structures requiring two and three vehicles to go crashing into them. And later down the line, as you traverse the Big City and Military Base, pockets of fire start to emerge, leaving you to forgo the need to take down buildings and instead just push cars through the flames. For us, it feels like a weird development decision to just go chucking that fire in willy-nilly, especially when Sokomonster ends on standard footings. But hey, it is what it is and we guess it breaks up the norm a little. And if things start to go a little awry as you whack those cars, whether by mistake or with best intentions, it’s nice that both full level restarts and undoing of recent moves is just a button press away. 

Short and Sweet: Conquering Sokomonster in 90 Minutes

With some fairly retro visuals allowing portrayal of your destructive monster, a few varieties of cars and different coloured buildings, it’s safe to say that we won’t be remembering Sokomonster for its visual prowess come the end of the year. In fact, we probably won’t remember Sokomonster for much after this week is out, safe in the knowledge that full completion can be ticked off in 90 minutes or so; depending on how well you get to grips with the puzzling nature of things. We’d suspect that should you be a fan of Sokoban or ice-sliding puzzlers, you’ll mostly find yourself smashing through everything Sokomonster has with ease. 

Get to the end of those 30 stages, and Afil Games have seen right to provide some additional replayability. Whether you take them up on the offer or not will be up for debate (we’d suspect you won’t), but if you do want to head back in to any of the levels again, to better your stage completion time or to shed a few moves/actions from a PB, then you can do so. A rather crude level hub area at least allows for it. We really don’t see the need to play through any of the stages in Sokomonster again once complete, though.

A Challenging but Forgettable Puzzler

We can’t walk away from Sokomonster and pretend we enjoyed our time with it, but aside from building frustrations at the solving of each puzzle, it rarely does anything wrong. We just about prefer the pushing of SokoCrab over the sliding of this little monster, but your personal decision may vary. With a low asking price and promise of easy Gamerscore, we’re sure Sokomonster will appeal to a few.

Just be prepared to fire up that Youtube walkthrough video before any controller goes flying…

Bungie’s Destiny 2 has been struggling as of late to keep players engaged. Following The Final Shape, player counts have been plummeting with no sign of improvement. 

Following the release of Revenant Act 3, the game’s latest content drop, fans have grown tired of Bungie’s storytelling as the long-running series continues to repeat the same familiar beats. 

Fans hate Destiny 2’s repetitive story 

After finishing the new Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3 content, fans took to various social medias to complain about the update’s grind, new bugs and the overall story of the new content. 

Spoilers Ahead

On the Destiny 2 subreddit, players expressed upset at Bungie’s writing for Revenant Act 3. Alongside Mithrax “having his entire multi-year character development ripped from him in a single mission”, players are tired of Bungie’s constant attempts to give characters a “redemption arc”. 

Eramis, a treacherous villain that has been a constant cause of suffering in Destiny, has now been given their own redemption arc. Despite fans despising the character, the story has crowbarred in a forced redemption that fans have not sat well with. 

“I would be okay with redemption arcs if they actually put in the work to earn it,” one fan explained after finishing the new content. “Eramis has not shown an ounce of introspection or changed behavior.”

“Not every character needs a f*****g redemption arc,” one particularly upset fan said. “Especially one so viscerally hated by almost the entire community… the story feels like it’s been ripped from a sh***y anime with 30-50 word long titles.”

Eramis’ “redemption” has been a particular sore point for long-returning fans of the game. While fans fought the beast in Beyond Light, they’ve also been waiting for a rematch to finally end them once and for all. Well, that’s not happening.
