Blazblue players who haven’t had a new fighter in nearly a decade face their biggest struggle yet: the possibility of an Adi Shankar adaptation

Blazblue hasn’t had a new fighting game since 2018 with Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, and fans have been desperate for any new update. It seems the monkey paw may be curling a finger as we speak, as Adi Shankar (director of the recently released Devil May Cry series) has posted the series’ logo on his Twitter.

This post doesn’t actually announce anything, it’s a PNG ripped from Google. But with a series so absent of news or updates as Blazblue, this has become the biggest story in months for fans. The new Devil May Cry series, as horrendous as it is, may act as an ill omen for these starving gamers.

Manage cookie settings

For those who don’t know what Blazblue is, I can’t really blame you. It’s a relatively niche game within a niche genre. Created by Arc System Works, the game attracted a community of fans due to its fast-paced gameplay, depth, and anime art style. Over the years it’s gained a loyal following of players who love the games and the story told throughout the series. However, Arc System Works has spent recent years focused on other IP like Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball, and more.

So while an adaptation isn’t inherently bad news, Shankar’s recent work on Devil May Cry has some worried. That series takes… liberties with the source material. As such, taking a narrative hammer to Blazblue and its story isn’t exactly what a lot of fans would be looking for.

The reaction to this post has been amusing though. Majin Obama, fighting game content creator and tournament organizer, encouraged Shankar to look into Guilty Gear Strive instead. This, one assumes, was not done with kind intentions at heart. Another X user cifers wrote “This is my personal 9/11”, which pretty much sums up the reception to the concept of a Blazblue adaptation under Shankar.

Sometimes death is a mercy, especially when it comes to video games. But what do you think? Would you be curious to see a Blazblue adaptation? Or are you just here for the chaos? Let us know below!

The Talos Principle: Reawakened Review | TheXboxHub

The Talos Principle: Reawakened Review | TheXboxHub

A Legacy of Thought-Provoking Puzzles

Over the last couple of decades, we’ve been lucky to have been rewarded with some great puzzle games that have an interesting narrative packed into them as well.

The forerunners that started this trend were Portal, the sequel in Portal 2, and The Witness where you were solving some hefty puzzles but with a great story playing out underneath.

In 2014 another contender appeared in the form of The Talos Principle which got some great reviews and became a fan favourite leading to some DLC and a sequel a few years ago.

And now that game has had a remastering in the form of The Talos Principle: Reawakened, as they provide that decade-old game, some DLC and a new prequel chapter.

The Talos Principle Reawakened Review 1
The Talos Principle has been Reawakened!

Androids, Gods, and Existential Questions

If you played the original game, then you won’t be surprised with what you find in Reawakened, apart from the graphical updates which we will talk about shortly.

The story deals with themes of life, god, and philosophy, putting us into the being of an android waking up in a world of Roman pillars and serene landscapes. You are tasked to complete several puzzles across a series of different areas, collecting sigils, unlocking progress and new abilities.

As you go on through The Talos Principle: Reawakened you hear more of the story told in a ‘godlike’ voice, talking about being a creator of this world. But moving through the world sees you unlock other stories from human voices and scientists who talk about humanity and everyday life. There are also chats about science experiments and AI. What has happened?

Progress and the story will gradually unravel itself to you. I liked, as I did originally, the story and atmosphere of this game. It’s a puzzler first, but the added story gives life to the game, ensuring you will want to progress to learn its secrets.

Without spoiling anything, the DLC chapter and new additions add more to the excellence of this world and are very enjoyable, narratively speaking. I really liked what they have done with the new chapter and how it builds on the world and gives some answers to the story.

The Talos Principle Reawakened Review 3The Talos Principle Reawakened Review 3
You know the drill…

First-Person Philosophy

The Talos Principle: Reawakened is played in the first person, allowing you to go and move around the space freely, with a little jump to get up to certain areas. The initial puzzles are straightforward, introducing electronically locked areas guarded by robot mines and turrets that block the path to a signal. Players begin by collecting signal jammers to disable these threats and progress.

Some puzzles require strategic thinking, using multiple jammers, demanding careful sequencing of actions. Later, new mechanics such as differently coloured light beams and connector devices are introduced, requiring players to align beams to open doorways.

As you progress more elements are added, as The Talos Principle: Reawakened starts to become a clever and addictive puzzler. It does get very challenging in the latter moments, but once you are hooked, you’ll discover that you are fully invested and can’t go back.

A Visual Upgrade

The Talos Principle: Reawakened was pretty good looking initially, with its different historical landscapes and ruins dotted around the AI world. But now it’s had an Unreal Engine 5 upgrade, which gives some rather lovely lighting effects and improved textures on everything you can see. This is a very pretty upgrade and you’ll certainly notice the visual work done in this remaster.

Audio-wise and it feels the same as before, which isn’t a bad thing because the soundtrack has an otherworldly quality to it; something that is perfect for this type of game. The voiceover is excellent and there is a great mixture of voices from the god-like narrator to the human scientists you might hear from occasionally.

A gorgeous puzzler

A Must-Play Puzzle Experience, Enhanced

If you loved the original and got on well with the sequel, then you will enjoy the visual improvements made to The Talos Principle: Reawakened. The puzzles and narrative will draw you in, whilst the DLC and new chapter works nicely to add content and story to the world.

There’s no doubt that this is a great package for fans of the series, but even if you haven’t dipped in before, The Talos Principle: Reawakened comes highly recommended.

How to Complete the Lord of the Underworld Challenge in BitLife – ISK Mogul Adventures

How to Complete the Lord of the Underworld Challenge in BitLife – ISK Mogul Adventures

It’s that time of the week again, Bitizens! The Bittersweet Symphony Challenge in BitLife is live, and you know what that means. That means you have the weekend to complete a new challenge: the Lord of the Underworld Challenge in BitLife. This one is a lot more complicated than post ones, so this guide will be pretty involved.

Don’t forget to check the Challenge Vault if you have it unlocked, you can do all the old BitLife challenges there as well. Check on some of our BitLife guides while you’re here for tips on those.

How to Complete the Lord of the Underworld Challenge in BitLife

Here are all the steps laid out. Keep reading on to find out what to do for this week’s task.

Become a KingAbdicate the throneJoin a cartelSell $50,000+ worth of productBecome a Kingpin

Becoming a king in Bitlife is one of the hardest steps of the challenge this week. You need either a ton of RNG or a paid cheat to speed through this process. The slow part here is marrying your way into Royalty. To start, you need to spawn in a country that has royalty in it. Look for the list below.

All countries with Royalty in BitLife

Here are all the countries that allow you to become royalty in BitLife:

BelgiumDenmarkJapanJordanKuwaitMalaysiaMonacoMoroccoNetherlandsNorwayQatarSaudi ArabiaSpainSwedenThailandUAEUnited Kingdom

Your path forward depends on how you want to get into the royal family. That’s going to involve whether you want to start in a country with royalty, which will make this go faster. Once you’ve made your character, either reroll until you end up spawning in as royalty, or marry your way into royalty. Once you’ve ascended the throne, it’s time to drop it. Once you have the gilded throne, go to Activities > Royalty > Abdicate to complete the second step.

Note that players that use God Mode can immediately choose whether or not they want to become a royal, so premium members have another advantage here.

How to Join a Cartel in Bitlife

Once you’ve become a former king, it’s time to start earning your criminal rep. The key to actually making it to the top of the underworld is to start from the bottom and work your way up. Go into the Activities menu and select the option to commit crimes. It’s very helpful if you have the paid rewind feature here, as getting caught is a big hassle.

Once you have gotten enough of a criminal reputation by successfully performing crime, click on the “Occupation” tab, there will be a Special Careers category in that menu. Within that menu will be various specialized crimes you can commit. You want to pick the one that says Dealer. Get more criminal experience by committing more crimes. Eventually, you will build up a big enough reputation to join the family you desire.

Here are the six criminal empires you can join:

The Irish MobThe Latin MafiaThe MafiaThe Russian MobThe TriadThe Yakuza

Once you’re in, start dealing like your life depends on it. You need to sling A LOT of product under the crimes menu to make it to 50K. Just keep grinding and you’ll get there. Along the way, be sure to put in a good bit of work making friends in the cartels as well. Be extra careful though, anyone you get too friendly with could rat you out or suspect you of being a snitch. Don’t rush right into trying to make friends with the higher-ups in the organization, it will get you whacked.

With enough luck and time, you too will have completed the Lord of the Underworld Challenge in BitLife.

Space Invaders – A C64 conversion of Taito’s Space Invaders by LC-Games

Space Invaders – A C64 conversion of Taito’s Space Invaders by LC-Games

We’ve mentioned many Space Invader variants over the years, from Havie’s Blitz Basic version of the game on the Amiga, to our personal favorite from Pink/Abyss called ‘Tiny Invaders’. Well yet again we’ve been sent another version of Space Invaders for you to download and try, and it’s LC-Games full C64 conversion of the famous arcade game created by Tomohiro Nishikado in 1978. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a gameplay video below.

Here’s the latest. “Space Invaders is a fixed shooter in which the player controls a laser cannon by moving it horizontally across the bottom of the screen and firing at descending aliens. The aim is to defeat five rows of eleven aliens that move horizontally back and forth across the screen as they advance toward the bottom of the screen. The player’s laser cannon is partially protected by several stationary defense bunkers that are gradually destroyed from the top and bottom by blasts from either the aliens or the cannon. The player defeats an alien and earns points by shooting it with the laser cannon. As more aliens are defeated, the aliens’ movement and the game’s music both speed up. Defeating all the aliens on-screen brings another wave that is more difficult, a loop which can continue endlessly”.

How To Sell Old Equipment in Schedule 1 – ISK Mogul Adventures

How To Sell Old Equipment in Schedule 1 – ISK Mogul Adventures

When you first start out in this game, there’s a lot to learn. As you grow your newly founded “business” in Schedule 1, you’re going to inevitably need to expand. The biggest question a lot of new players have is what to do with all your unused junk. You’re going to end up with all manner of old mixers, storage, and other useless items.

Here’s what to do with all that old equipment in Schedule 1. It’s pretty simple.

When the game first came out, there was only one solution. In the launch version, the only way to get rid of old equipment was to discard it completely. There’s a little discard box in the bottom-right of the UI. If you have no use for old equipment in Schedule 1, drag and drop it there to be rid of it. There’s the issue of losing the money you invested in that product, but money is very easy to come by in this game.

With a recent update, though, there’s a new solution.

There’s now a pawn shop in the game where you can sell your old junk. The Pawn Shop located in front of the Warehouse and beside the Motel.

If the Pawn Shop isn’t available to you, you need to update your game. There’s a main release branch of the game, as well as a beta branch. As of writing, the main branch on Steam has the Pawn Shop release on it. If you want to test upcoming features, you could opt into the Beta Branch.

To download the Beta Branch, head to Steam and locate Schedule 1 in your library. Once there, right-click it and select Properties. Look on the menu to the left, fand click Betas. This will open the beta dropdown. The Beta Branch you want is the third option.

How to opt into Schedule 1 Beta

Be warned, the beta branches of games on Steam always come with bugs, so don’t be surprised if you lose a save game or have other issues on the Beta branch.

Tyranny & oppression through the lens of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos | TheSixthAxis

Tyranny & oppression through the lens of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos | TheSixthAxis

Throughout history and, unfortunately, right up to the present day, the world has thousands of examples of tyranny and oppression, where powerful groups use their influences to exert force over smaller or less powerful groups. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos may not seem like the first port of call when considering this topic, but its story does touch upon the elements of tyranny, oppression, and resistance. The points this essay will touch upon include the use of military against a peaceful nation, the kidnapping of a group of people, those being the Gobbos, Baron Dante’s tyrannical actions, and Croc’s actions as a resistance fighter and liberator.

Baron Dante’s Tyranny

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos starts with the Gobbos taking in an abandoned baby Croc, raising him as one of their own. From what we see in the opening moments, the Gobbos are a peaceful society that work together to maintain a homeland where everyone is treated with respect, kindness, and supported. There seems to be no conflict with Gobbo society, nor does this society come across a warmongering. In fact, they seem almost childlike and naïve to the dangers of the wider world around them with barely any preparedness when having an aggressor as a neighbour. The most basic of plans seem to revolve around Croc saving them, but if he fails then Gobbo society goes extinct.

Completely unexpectedly, at least to the Gobbos, Baron Dante launches an invasion of the Gobbo homeland with his Dantini military at his side. Such is the ferocity of the attack, the Gobbos lose their homes as the Dantini army begin destroying everything. Moments before all the Gobbos are captured, King Gobbo manages to help Croc escape, giving a slither of hope in these dark times.

Post invasion, Baron Dante appears to order that each Gobbo is isolated away from their kin, with everyone thrown in their own cage, box, or used as a prize in mini games with only a brief shot of escape. Here, we can draw out that Baron Dante had no care for Gobbo society and what it stood for, was fine with separating families and putting his Gobbo prisoners in solitary confinement. To further exacerbate this, each Gobbo is imprisoned in areas that have no basic facilities, instead placed in some incredibly dangerous areas that could end up fatal for them. The minigames beg the question that if Croc did not win them, were these Gobbos to be prizes for those invited to take part, and trafficked away with their families never knowing what happened to them?

Baron Dante’s oppression and tyranny is not just saved for the Gobbos. Through the game we see that he does not respect the free will of most other creatures. As Croc makes progress in his liberation mission, Baron Dante uses his power to turn innocent creatures into unwilling combatants within his army, forcing them to fight Croc. These individuals do get hurt in their battles but if they fail they are left to carry on with their lives. They regain their freedom but it shows that Baron Dante has no duty of responsibility towards these drafted soldiers, leaving them to their fates.

Croc As A Leader of Resistance

Most that become symbols of resistance do not necessarily choose to become such symbols but are forced to through the events that occur around them. Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Bhagat Singh, Tiananmen Square’s Tank man, Harriet Tubman, Volodymyr Zelensky. These are just some notable figures who have stood up to either lead resistance against more powerful adversaries or become symbols or resistance themselves. Croc is an individual that is forced to act in his own world against a member of the royalty in Baron Dante and all of the resources available to him. This is another showdown between a focused yet disadvantaged person taking on a complex power structure to force a change for the better.

Croc is outnumbered with no allies except Beany, who can teleport Croc to new areas. No one else takes up the cause to free the Gobbos from their prison. This could be down to several reasons. First, there’s a clear lack of information available to anyone else who otherwise would have helped. Baron Dante would tightly control any message from the region, and the invasion of the Gobbos is something he may not have publicised. Second could be fear. It could be other groups have heard of the invasion and displacement of the Gobbos, but do not act out of fear that Baron Dante will turn his forces against them. Third, any other resistance has already been dealt with. We do not know the full history of the region, but Baron Dante may have already crushed other resistances that were rising up giving him free reign over his part of the land.

Croc - Flibby boss battle

Croc is essentially a guerrilla fighter, striking at targets quickly to free up his Gobbo family from their prisons before quickly moving to the next area. While the path that he can take is quite predictable, he is not at first seen of as much of a threat with very little of the Dantini military standing in his way at the start. However, as Croc marches onwards and dispatches foes Baron Dante increase security to protect himself. Croc shows very little mercy to those who get in his way, engaging in close quarters combat to fight against the oppressors. This showcases how little in the way of resources Croc has as he has not even armed with a weapon, and even if he was it is unlikely he would know how to use having been raised by the Gobbos.

After facing the trials of navigating hostile environments, and fighting willing and unwilling enemy soldiers, Croc eventually confronts Baron Dante having freed the Gobbos and dismantled much of Baron Dante’s power structure. Croc successfully overthrows Baron Dante and takes his people back to their homeland, with the world around them once again thriving. While this is a good ending for the Croc and Gobbos, it leaves behind another land where there is no one in charge which paves the way for a power struggle and further strife that will impact the Gobbos again. Filling that vacuum is not Croc’s responsibility, but this does show that even successful resistance movements can lead to unintended consequences.

Croc castle stage

Conclusion

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is a game that on its surface looks like a standard, colourful, and innocent platformer. What this essay has outlined is that Croc: Legend of the Gobbos actually tells a story of oppression, tyranny, forced displacement, the imbalance of power, and the need for resistance against tyranny. If there is no resistance then the majority of victims will the innocent, like the childlike and naïve Gobbos. Croc is an unexpected symbol of resistance but his actions show that even one person with the necessary drive can bring about change for the better in an unjust world.

For the most part, however, these are the base game trophies that just about anyone can unlock simply by playing the game to its fullest.

Most of these trophies are earned by defeating/capturing specific monsters, defeating them under certain conditions, or by using certain strategies to take them down.

A lot of these achievements are as straightforward as they are tough; most of them aren’t that complex, but it’ll still take you a while to complete them regardless.

To get this achievement, you’ll need to land at least 50 Focus Strikes on open wounds while battling.

Monster Ph.D.

Hunted many different large monsters.

To unlock this achievement, you’ll need to hunt all the base game’s 29 different monsters at least once. Most of these will be covered in the main story, so try not to worry too much about this one early on.

Seasoned Hunter

Hunted 50 tempered monsters.

This achievement can be unlocked by hunting 50 tempered monsters, which are unlocked after completing the “Wyvern Spark and Rose Thorns” main quest. These monsters will appear in every region once the quest has been completed.

Monster Slayer

Hunted 100 large monsters.

All you need to do is hunt down 100 large monsters, which can be done surprisingly easily through the game’s main story. If you still haven’t reached 100 after you’ve completed the game, then all you have to do is pick up the few remaining stragglers you need afterward.

Top of the Food Chain

Hunted 50 apex predators.

Among the naturally spawning monsters in the wild, there are apex predators, which are the most dangerous and aggressive monsters of each area. Currently, there are 4 known apex predators in the game: Rey Dau, Nu Udra, Uth Duna, and Jin Dahad. These can be found in the Windward Plains, the Oilwell Basin, the Scarlet Forest, and the Iceshard Cliffs.

Capture Pro

Captured 50 monsters.

After you’ve completed the Capture Tutorial in the main story, you’ll be able to go out and collect the materials necessary for capturing monsters. Do this, and then repeat until you’ve reached 50 captures.

Established Hunter

Reached Hunter Rank 100.

Before you can get this achievement, you’ll need to first complete the main story. Once the main story has been completed, the rank cap will be removed, and you’ll then be able to climb the ranks up to 100.

Most of these achievements are super grindy, and aren’t the types to be unlocked in a single afternoon. If you’re trying to unlock all the game’s trophies as fast as you can, then you’ll probably want to start working on these achievements as early as possible, in conjunction with other achievements.

This achievement’s required mission can be completed simply by going along with the story. The “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns” quest removes the HR 20 limit for players, so you’ll need to reach HR 20 prior to taking it on.

Beyond the Black Wings

Completed mission: A World Turned Upside Down.

This achievement’s mission, “A World Turned Upside Down”, will become available to players in Chapter 5 of the game’s main story. This achievement is unmissable as long as you maintain consistent story progression.

One Corner of the World

Completed mission: What Lies Ahead.

The “What Lies Ahead” mission is the final mission of the main story. Once it’s been completed, you’ll have officially “beaten” the game, along with gaining this achievement.

A True Hunter is Never Satisfied

Completed 50 quests.

This one is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is complete at least 50 quests, most of which will be taken care of during the main story.

A Step Toward Mutual Understanding

Completed your first side mission.

You can unlock this achievement by completing your first side mission. One of the easiest side missions that you can get early on is the “Fishing: Life, in Microscosm” mission given to you by Kanya.

East to West, A Hunter Never Rests

Completed 30 different side missions.

This achievement requires you to complete 30 different side missions unrelated to the main story, not including optional quests.

Hunters United

Completed a quest via multiplayer.

Connect with a friend or a fellow hunter online and complete a quest together.

Hunters United Forever

Completed 100 quests via multiplayer.

Complete at least 100 quests with friends or other online hunters through multiplayer.

Most of these achievements can easily be unlocked simply by playing through the game’s main story, so don’t stress too much about unlocking these.

Miscellaneous Achievements

Portable BBQ Grill in Monster Hunter Wilds

These are the random, miscellaneous achievements that, for the most part, aren’t related to the main story progression.

Some of these trophies are easy and can be completed relatively early on in the game. Others are obscure and, while not necessarily difficult, take a bit of effort to complete.

Requirements

How to Unlock

Angling for a Bite

Successfully fished for the first time.

This achievement will unlock after you’ve successfully fished for the first time in the game. This can be obtained at the same time as the “A Step Toward Mutual Understanding” achievement by completing the first fishing side mission given to you by Kanya.

Was it a Meal to Remember?

Cooked over the BBQ Grill for the first time.

Open your Portable BBQ Grill and select “Grill a Meal”.

Mmm, So Tasty!

Successfully cooked a well-done steak for the first time.

Open your Portable BBQ Grill and select “Grill Meat”.

I Caught a Shooting Star!

Caught a creature in the desert that shines like a shooting star.

In the Windward Plains at night, you’ll be able to find a glowing blue rodent called the Sandstar. You’ll need to capture it to unlock the achievement, but you’ll also eventually get a quest from the twins in the base camp later on to capture a form of endemic life, so you might want to wait until you’ve received that quest before capturing it. That way, you’ll be killing two birds with one stone.

A Prize Held High

Caught a creature that bears an ancient wyvern coin.

In the Flowering Rocks area in the Scarlet Forest, you’ll be able to come across a monster called the Curioshell Crab. Capture at least one to unlock this achievement.

Monster (Squid) Hunter

Caught a giant squid while fishing.

You’ll need to catch the Goliath Squid to unlock this achievement, which usually spawns at night in the Scarlet Forest.

A-fish-ionado

Reeled in 30 whoppers while fishing.

Using your fishing rod, capture at least 30 whopper-sized fish.

Glamper

Customized a pop-up camp for the first time.

After you unlock pop-up camps, talk to the relevant Palico at the forest base camp and choose the “Edit Camp” option. From here, you’ll be able to customize it to your liking.

Campmaster

Established pop-up camps in 10 places.

Set up at least 10 different pop-up camps around the map.

Newly Forged Bonds

Followed someone for the first time.

All you have to do to complete this achievement is follow one of your fellow hunters that you’ve played with before.

Ride-or-die Companion

Customized your Seikret or changed its decorations for the first time.

You’ll be able to customize your Seikret from your Tent by opening the Appearance Menu and selecting Seikret Customization.

A Legacy Restored

Obtained an Artian Weapon of Rarity 8.

Before you can unlock this achievement, you’ll need to first reach the point in the main story that teaches you about Artian weapons. After that, you’ll need to obtain at least 3 Ancient Weapon fragments before forging them into a usable weapon.

Gossip Hunter

Viewed 30 different Hunter Profiles.

View the profiles of at least 30 other Hunters.

Eastward Wings

Obtained all other achievements.

This achievement is pretty self-explanatory. All you have to do to unlock it is obtain all the other achievements in the game to ultimately be rewarded with this final trophy.

How to sign up for the Marathon alpha

The Marathon alpha gives you a chance to play Bungie’s forthcoming extraction shooter significantly ahead of its Sept. 23 release date.

Announced during Bungie’s Marathon stream on April 12, the Marathon alpha allows you to check out four characters on two maps. Like most alpha tests, though, it also doubles as a technical stress test for the game, meaning you could run into connectivity issues and other hiccups.

Below, we’ll tell you how to sign up for the Marathon alpha, including some other information about what to expect from the alpha.

How to sign up for the Marathon alpha

Image: Bungie

Currently, the only way to get into the Marathon alpha test is to join Bungie’s Marathon Discord, which you can access via the following link: https://discord.gg/marathonthegame.

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown on how to sign up for the Marathon alpha:

Sign up for the Marathon Discord and agree to the rules.Go to the #alpha_access chat and type /alpha.Watch for the Discord bot to ping you in the #new-noise chat and follow the custom link it offers.Create a Bungie account if you don’t have one, or sign into an existing account.Select your platform of choice: PlayStation, Steam, or Xbox.Thoroughly read and, if you’re comfortable, accept the Marathon alpha NDA.Fill out the Marathon survey, which asks you about your preferred platforms (including PC specs, if that’s your choice), your experience with past Bungie games, and your familiarity with PvP games like Marathon.Close out of the survey and return to the original tab to confirm that you’ve been signed up for the alpha.

In a post-script on the survey, Bungie notes completing the form enters you into “a pool” of prospective players but does not guarantee access to the alpha. Codes will be sent to players the week of April 14, and throughout the runtime of the alpha.

It’s possible Bungie could add more methods to get Marathon alpha access in the future, but the studio hasn’t announced anything like that just yet.

When does the Marathon alpha start and end?

The alpha will start on Wednesday, April 23, at 10 a.m. PDT and run through Sunday, May 4, at 10 a.m. PDT.

Bungie said in a FAQ on its website that this particular alpha is focused on North America and only available to players ages 18 or older. Codes are locked to your particular Bungie account and thus can’t be given away or sold. Access will also not come with friend codes, although players will be able to group up with others who’ve been selected.

If you are selected for the Marathon alpha, you’ll get an email with instructions on how to download the game, which is about 6 GB. Curious about the PC specs? See them here!

Bungie also confirmed that there will be additional opportunities to play Marathon ahead of its Sept. 23 release date. All account progress will be wiped between the alpha test and any the game’s launch.

What to expect from the Marathon alpha

A Runner in Marathon runs toward a lowering ship

Image: Bungie

We were able to play the Marathon alpha early as part of a media and creator preview event at Bungie HQ, though some aspects might be different than the public alpha.

During our playtime, we were able to check out two different maps: Perimeter and Dire Marsh. Perimeter is a smaller, early game map, where Dire Marsh pits six squads of three against each other in a large campus.

There were a wide variety of different weapons and items in our tests, including golden legendary items with powerful unique effects — although they were quite rare. It’s unclear if Bungie is holding back some weapon types for the full game, but the studio did confirm in a Q&A that there are unique weapon mods we weren’t able to play with.

We had access to four Runners — what Marathon calls its heroes — in the alpha:

Locus: A tank-like character with a powerful shield, a rocket salvo, and boosters on his legs.Glitch: A speed character who can quickly traverse the area with her arm cannon and double jump.Blackbird: An information character who can scan the environment to help locate potential threats.Void: A stealth character capable of going invisible at will to escape or surprise his enemies.

We were also able to test a few contracts, which are essentially quests that help improve your relationships with various factions. Advancing your faction progress will allow you to upgrade your account with more vault space, access to more advanced items in the shop, and more.

Disclosure: Parts of this article are based on a Marathon preview event held at Bungie’s headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, from April 2-4. Bungie provided Polygon’s travel and accommodations for the event. You can find additional information about Polygon’s ethics policy here.

Season 2 of Marvel Rivals brought a new map, Krakoa: Hellfire Gala. This is a Domination map that features portals and a beautiful landscape. While we are still in the first week of the new Marvel Rivals season, the latest leak reveals another map coming soon. As expected, NetEase will release a new map with Season 2.5, which is set to arrive in late May.

In this article, we will take a detailed look at the leak and reveal everything we know about the map.

The latest Marvel Rivals leak shows details about the new map

According to X0X_Leak, one of the most reputable leakers, the next map will be Arakko. The leaker shared several details about it even before Season 2 came out, revealing that it will be a map. This information was confirmed by Miller Ross on Friday, who also claims that Arakko will be a new Convoy map in Marvel Rivals.

Ross, who’s leaked big things in the past, believes that the Season 2.5 update will also bring Ultron, a new Strategist. Ultron’s abilities in Marvel Rivals have already been leaked, and it appears that he will be a flying healer. Furthermore, the leaker claims that the mid-season update will arrive on May 30.

It’s important to note that none of these details have been confirmed by NetEase. Due to this, we will have to wait a few more weeks to find out more information about the big mid-season update. We are, however, hoping that the leak is accurate, as adding a flying Marvel Rivals Strategist would be a great move by the developer..

For now, Season 2 offers plenty of new content, including seven new free skins. Emma Frost, the game’s newest Vanguard, is also out, and she’s been very fun to play.
