MapleStory N Release Date, Gameplay & NFT Features Explained | NFT News Today

MapleStory N Release Date, Gameplay & NFT Features Explained is on every player’s mind as Nexon’s latest step into blockchain-powered MMORPGs. Scheduled to launch globally on May 15, 2025, MapleStory N merges classic side-scrolling action with NFT-driven ownership.

Key Takeaways

MapleStory N arrives on PC worldwide on May 15, 2025.

It combines traditional 2D MapleStory gameplay with blockchain mechanics.

Players can earn, trade, and own in-game items as NFTs without transaction fees.

There is no cash shop; all premium currency (“neso”) is earned through gameplay.

Community contributors help shape content, securing token rewards for participation.

What Is MapleStory N?

MapleStory N is a brand-new title from Nexpace—an arm of Nexon—built on a gasless blockchain infrastructure known as AvaCloud (Avalanche). It retains the side-scrolling, monster-hunting elements long-time MapleStory fans recognize, while adding an on-chain economy that encourages item ownership and trading through NFTs.

This game stands as the first major launch within the broader MapleStory Universe, which promises a shared ecosystem across multiple games. That universe is where player-driven trading meets the nostalgia of 2D gameplay that many fans know and love. And where new gamers can find a fresh take on online interaction.

Release Date and Platform

Nexon plans to release MapleStory N globally on May 15, 2025. At launch, it will be available exclusively for PC. Future expansions or platform details have not been confirmed, but the team has hinted that the MapleStory Universe could expand in ways that benefit other apps, games, and user-generated content.

Gameplay Mechanics and Blockchain Integration

MapleStory N preserves the classic 2D side-scrolling format, featuring quests, monster battles, and party-based adventures. The key difference lies in blockchain-powered systems:

Gasless Transactions: On-chain actions happen without fees, so there’s no typical barrier associated with blockchain games.

Secure Blockchain Infrastructure: AvaCloud (part of the Avalanche ecosystem) facilitates real-time, tamper-proof records of item trades and ownership.

Item Rarity & Distribution: Unlike typical MMORPGs where bosses and mobs can endlessly drop items, MapleStory N limits and periodically distributes new gear. This approach makes each valuable find more meaningful.

NFT Features and On-Chain Economy

A defining feature is its NFT-driven economy, where players can truly own and trade items:

Item Types:

Local Items: Stay in a player’s inventory but cannot be traded.

Unchained Items: Tradable and upgradeable assets that appear on the blockchain.

NFT Items: Rare, marketable gear shared across the MapleStory Universe.

Marketplace: A dedicated marketplace allows buyers and sellers to transact NFT items. Some NFTs may also be transferable into future MapleStory Universe apps, enhancing the long-term value of each digital collectible.

True Ownership: Owning an NFT item means the asset remains in the player’s control, even outside the game. This significantly changes how in-game economies work, giving control back to the community.

Free-to-Play Model and Monetization

MapleStory N adopts a fully free-to-play approach without a cash shop:

No Direct Purchases: Real money cannot directly buy in-game assets.

Neso Currency: MapleStory N introduces “neso,” earned only through gameplay. Players may trade neso with others if they desire to accelerate their progress.

Fair Opportunities: Since in-game growth and currency acquisition depend on actual play, it balances out the advantage that paying for boosts might have once provided in other MMORPGs.

Community Involvement and User-Generated Content

Nexon has built MapleStory N to encourage collective creativity and collaboration:

Community-Driven Items: Creators, modders and developers can submit new items that fit the MapleStory N experience.

Token Rewards: Contributors who bring innovative ideas or content to the ecosystem can receive special tokens in recognition.

User Engagement: Periodic events, competitions, and development updates foster communication between the official team and the player community.

Security and Anti-Cheat Measures

Fair play is a cornerstone of MapleStory N. Nexon applies its extensive experience managing massively multiplayer games, employing:

Advanced Anti-Cheat Protocols: Automated systems detect unusual player behavior, multi-client abuse, or exploitation.

Blockchain-Based Verification: On-chain records make it easier to identify shady item trades or suspicious wallet activity, helping maintain a fair environment for all.

Can I use my MapleStory N items in other MapleStory games?

Some NFT items may transfer across the MapleStory Universe. Nexon has indicated future titles and apps might share certain items to strengthen continuity and ownership.

Final Thoughts

MapleStory N is a new take on the MapleStory franchise. Classic side-scrolling battles combined with on-chain mechanics so you can truly own your gear and shape the economy. This is Nexon’s vision for a community driven ecosystem where user generated content and advanced anti-cheat tech means long term engagement. Launching May 15th 2025, MapleStory N’s mix of nostalgia and blockchain is going to grab the attention of gamers looking for something new in online RPG.

Enso, LayerZero, And Stargate Partner To Facilitate One Of Ethereum’s Largest Liquidity Migrations To Unichain

Enso, LayerZero, And Stargate Partner To Facilitate One Of Ethereum’s Largest Liquidity Migrations To Unichain

In Brief

Enso has partnered with LayerZero and Stargate to allow liquidity providers from Uniswap v2 and v3 to transfer their positions from Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks to Uniswap v4 on Unichain.

Enso, LayerZero, And Stargate Partner To Facilitate One Of Ethereum’s Largest Liquidity Migrations To Unichain

Layer 1 blockchain built on Tendermint, Enso announced a collaboration with interoperability protocol LayerZero and liquidity platform Stargate to facilitate what is described as one of the largest asset migrations in Ethereum’s history. The initiative will enable liquidity providers from Uniswap v2 and v3 to transfer their positions from Ethereum and other Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks to Uniswap v4 on Unichain, amounting up to $3.5 billion in liquidity.

“By engineering a unified solution with the help of Stargate and LayerZero, Enso has added the missing piece to the puzzle,” said Connor Howe, Co-Founder of Enso. “With the ability to transfer their positions in one click, Uniswap LPs are about to trigger one of the largest liquidity migration events in Ethereum history,” he added.

Previously, transferring liquidity to Unichain involved a cumbersome process that could require up to nine separate steps, creating a barrier for liquidity providers (LPs) interested in adopting Uniswap v4. This complexity discouraged participation. Enso has now introduced a solution that condenses this multi-step procedure into a single click, enabling users to migrate, bridge, and redeploy their assets in one seamless action.

The simplified migration framework was developed through close coordination among Enso, Stargate, and LayerZero. Enso is responsible for executing and deploying the decentralised finance (DeFi) logic, Stargate manages the cross-chain bridging of liquidity, and LayerZero ensures that messaging between different blockchains occurs reliably and securely. This collaboration enables a smooth transfer of assets to Unichain.

Enso’s system is intentionally built to remove the friction typically associated with linking multiple blockchain protocols. Its infrastructure allows complex processes to be executed through simplified “shortcuts,” benefiting both developers integrating the tools and users executing transactions. The LP migration utility provided by Enso offers a concrete use case of decentralized finance’s modular nature, allowing for efficient movement of large volumes of liquidity across Ethereum-compatible chains and Unichain.

Enso: What Is It?

Enso positions itself as a platform designed to accelerate onchain development by offering a streamlined execution engine and simplified development process. Rather than requiring developers to manually integrate individual smart contracts, Enso maps onchain interactions to a unified execution layer. This approach aims to reduce technical barriers and allow teams to concentrate more on refining their product, engaging with their community, and scaling their initiatives, rather than navigating the intricacies of blockchain infrastructure.

Recently, Enso expanded its availability by launching on BNB Chain, a move intended to further simplify access for developers working in that ecosystem. With this integration, developers can bypass the often complex task of connecting to multiple DeFi protocols. Instead, Enso provides tools that allow them to more efficiently prototype and deploy decentralized applications.

FIFA Is Launching Its Own Blockchain for NFTs—Here’s What That Means | NFT News Today

FIFA Is Launching Its Own Blockchain for NFTs—Here’s What That Means | NFT News Today

FIFA is taking a big leap into Web3. On April 30, the world’s governing body for football announced it’s creating its own blockchain network to power the official FIFA Collect platform, where fans can snap up football-themed NFTs and limited-edition collectibles. This new “FIFA Blockchain” will replace the third-party networks FIFA has used in the past, and it’ll become the home base for all future digital assets and interactive fan experiences.

If you’re already into FIFA’s digital collectibles—or thinking about diving in—here’s what you need to know about this transition.

The Basics: What’s Changing, and When?

Starting no earlier than May 20, 2025, FIFA will begin migrating FIFA Collect onto its new blockchain. During that time, FIFA Collect will be offline for about 12 hours, so everything can move smoothly.

Good news: If you already own NFTs on FIFA Collect, they’ll transfer automatically at no extra cost. You don’t have to do anything.

One catch: If you exported any of your collectibles to an external wallet, you’ll have to move them back onto the FIFA Collect platform by May 20 to be sure they migrate. FIFA will temporarily reopen the “import” feature. If you miss the deadline, you’ll still be able to bring your items over eventually, but you may have to go through extra steps with customer support.

Wallet Upgrades (and Changes)

FIFA’s new blockchain will be EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible, opening up the door to use popular wallets like MetaMask. On the flip side, wallets running on Algorand—such as Pera or Defly—won’t be supported anymore. If you’re currently using those, you’ll need to switch over to a compatible wallet before the migration.

Source FIFA Collect

USDC Balances and Listed NFTs

If you have USDC (USD Coin) in your FIFA Collect account, you can keep spending it right up until the migration. Afterwards, any leftover balance can still be withdrawn, but you won’t be able to spend it on the platform anymore.

Already put up any of your collectibles for sale on FIFA Collect? You’re all set. Those listings will carry over to the new network automatically unless you choose to delist them before the move.

Why Is FIFA Doing This?

According to FIFA, the new blockchain is designed to “support new experiences, enable wallet compatibility, and provide stronger foundations for future innovation.”

Building its own blockchain means FIFA has more control over every aspect of its Web3 ecosystem. Rather than relying on outside networks (like Algorand or Polygon) to handle rules, updates, or new features, FIFA will be in the driver’s seat. This could open the door to things like Gamified collectibles and Blockchain-based ticketing.

Owning the entire infrastructure also gives FIFA a clear view of how fans are engaging—what they’re buying, how often they use the platform, and where they spend money. That data could be a goldmine for partnerships and new kinds of fan experiences.

However, FIFA still has some explaining to do about how it’ll address common Web3 concerns—like security and user privacy. And since the organization has tried a few blockchains in the past, this new move signals a commitment to longer-term stability.

Final Thought

For most collectors, you’ll wake up, the migration will be done, and all your NFTs will still be right where you left them (unless you need to bring them in from an external wallet).

But for FIFA, it’s a major behind-the-scenes shake-up—and a statement about its dedication to Web3.

JetBrains Open-Sources Mellum AI Model For Cloud-Based Code Completion, Now Available On Hugging Face

In Brief

JetBrains has open-sourced Mellum, an AI model designed to enable cloud-based code completion, now available on Hugging Face.

JetBrains' 4-Billion-Parameter AI Model Mellum For Code Completion Now Open-Sourced

Software development company JetBrains announced that it has open-sourced Mellum, an AI model designed from the ground up to enable cloud-based code completion. Available on Hugging Face, Mellum offers researchers, educators, and advanced teams the opportunity to explore its inner workings and understand how a purpose-built model functions in practice.

Unlike typical large language models (LLMs), Mellum is specifically optimized for coding. The company focused on creating a smaller and more efficient model that minimizes latency, providing developers with almost instant code suggestions. This makes Mellum more effective than many third-party models currently on the market.

Mellum supports code completion for a range of programming languages, including Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, PHP, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, Rust, and Ruby.

With 4 billion parameters, Mellum is a multilingual model specifically that has been benchmarked across various datasets and languages, and extensive human evaluations have been conducted within JetBrains’ integrated development environments (IDEs). The current version of Mellum available on Hugging Face is intended for use by AI/ML researchers—particularly those examining AI’s role in software development, model benchmarking, or interpretability. It also serves as a foundation for AI/ML engineers and educators who are interested in learning how to build, fine-tune, or adapt domain-specific language models, or who are looking to support educational programs centered around LLM architecture and specialization.

JetBrains’ Mellum Integration Powers AI Assistant With Enhanced Code Completion Performance

Since Mellum has been integrated into AI Assistant to power code completion, it has produced notable improvements. Completion latency has been reduced to a third of its previous time, indicating a substantial decrease in the time needed to complete tasks. The acceptance rate of completion suggestions driven by the Mellum AI model stands at around 40%, which is considered a solid benchmark in the industry. Additionally, the cancel rate has decreased by three to four times compared to the earlier version of AI Assistant. Furthermore, the total number of completion suggestions displayed has more than doubled when compared to the previous version.

JetBrains is known for its specialization in creating intelligent tools for software developers and teams. It is particularly recognized for its IDEs that support a wide range of programming languages. One of JetBrains’ major contributions to the software development field is Kotlin, a statically typed programming language designed to run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

NFT Market Shocked by 40% Drop in April 2025 | NFT News Today

NFT Market Shocked by 40% Drop in April 2025 | NFT News Today

After several months of volatile swings, the global NFT market suffered a striking setback in April 2025. Contrary to earlier optimism, trading volume plunged to around $389 million, representing a steep drop of nearly 40% compared to March. Many analysts, collectors, and creators who had anticipated a fresh wave of enthusiasm were met with sobering numbers instead.

Although Ethereum remained the leading blockchain by total NFT sales, it, too, felt the sting of this downturn. Ethereum-based collections saw trading volumes fall by 44% to about $109 million, while Polygon slipped by 43% to $72 million and Solana dropped by 33% to $36 million. Even with these figures, Ethereum still commands the lion’s share of market sentiment, but the data suggest that buyers and sellers alike are pausing to reassess their positions.

Despite the overall slump, there were a few bright spots. Courtyard, built on Polygon, emerged as the top-selling collection in April with $62–$65 million in sales—an impressive 12–18% increase over March. This success story may point to a more selective market, where collectors remain open to compelling projects even in a bearish environment. DMarket, another notable player, ranked second with about $39 million in sales, down just 4% from the previous month—a comparatively mild dip given the broader declines. Meanwhile, CryptoPunks continued to maintain its status as a historically iconic collection, though it, too, faced a moderate 4% drop to approximately $19 million in sales.

The downturn in April surprised many observers, especially those expecting AI-generated and music NFTs to set the tone for a rebound. While there has been ongoing excitement about AI-driven art platforms and the potential for new royalty-sharing frameworks in music NFTs, there was no verifiable data indicating a sector-wide surge last month. Instead, most NFT categories, from digital collectibles to metaverse assets, followed the general downward trend in trading volume. Some insiders speculate that these segments remain on track for future growth, but April clearly did not deliver on that promise.

Price points and market participation also reflected the gloomier climate. Contrary to claims of rising average NFT prices, the data do not support a surge to $3,200 or an 18% increase; instead, the majority of reporting outlets noted stagnation or price drops consistent with reduced demand.

The supposed jump in unique active wallets to 1.4 million remains unsubstantiated—most indicators actually suggest waning buyer activity as wary collectors step back, presumably waiting to see if prices will stabilize in May.

Whether this downturn marks a temporary lull or foreshadows a more prolonged contraction remains to be seen. Some market watchers remain hopeful that upcoming launches, innovative utility-driven collections, and possible improvements in cross-chain technologies will revive interest in the months ahead. But for now, the story of April 2025 is one of recalibration. Seasoned collectors and new entrants alike will be watching closely to see if May can reverse the slump and validate the enduring appeal of NFTs in a rapidly shifting digital economy.

White Hat Hacker Reveals Critical Flaw In Scroll, Co-Founder Defends Protocol Security

White Hat Hacker Reveals Critical Flaw In Scroll, Co-Founder Defends Protocol Security

In Brief

Pavel Shabarkin publicly disclosed a critical vulnerability on Scroll, claiming that the issue could have halted the blockchain, impacting over $100 million in TVL, but Scroll reportedly failed to resolve the problem effectively.

White Hat Hacker Reveals Critical Flaw In Scroll, Co-Founder Defends Protocol Security

White hat hacker Pavel Shabarkin publicly disclosed a critical vulnerability on the Ethereum Layer 2 network Scroll via social media platform X. He claimed that the issue could have halted the blockchain, impacting over $100 million in total value locked (TVL). Despite this, Scroll reportedly failed to resolve the problem effectively.

According to Pavel Shabarkin, “Anyone could force Scroll L2 into an indefinite re-org, halting the chain so that no user transactions would be included in blocks and the chain would not move forward. All funds on L2 would be frozen.”

The hacker also expressed frustration with Scroll’s response to the issue, noting that the project downplayed his report and failed to engage in meaningful communication, opting instead for silence. Additionally, he pointed out that Immunefi, the platform handling the vulnerability report, did not accurately classify the issue, even after he requested a re-evaluation. As a result, Pavel Shabarkin chose to go public with his findings to raise awareness about Scroll’s apparent lack of security expertise.

The issue reported by Pavel Shabarkin poses risks to the Scroll network, with the potential for the chain to be halted at no cost to the attacker. During the attack, withdrawals would remain blocked, potentially indefinitely, as the attacker can sustain the halt without any expense. This disruption in block production would prevent essential time-sensitive decentralized finance (DeFi) actions, such as adding funds to avoid liquidation or updating oracle prices, placing user funds at substantial risk. Additionally, the sequencer would stop collecting transaction fees because no Layer 2 user transactions could be included in blocks. The vulnerability is particularly concerning as anyone with internet access could trigger the attack, making it an easily accessible threat.

In response, Ye Zhang, co-founder of Scroll, explained that the hacker’s claims stem from a fundamental misunderstanding of how the protocol operates. Specifically, the hacker overlooked the light CCC check that the sequencer conducted prior to the Euclid upgrade.

He highlighted that, “The PoC doesn’t hold up. Logs don’t seem to show reorgs. Light CCC already tracks precompile invocations and skips such transactions without triggering any reorg.”

Ye Zhang further emphasized that Scroll is committed to ensuring protocol security, having invested over $1 million in audits, and values the contributions of whitehat hackers.

Scroll is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution that leverages Zero-Knowledge (ZK) rollups to improve transaction throughput, lower gas fees, and preserve Ethereum’s security and decentralization. By incorporating a zkEVM (Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine), Scroll ensures full compatibility with Ethereum’s existing infrastructure, enabling developers to deploy decentralized applications (dApps) without needing to modify their code.

Meta Refuses to Give Up on the Metaverse: Now Launching “Metaversities”! – Metaverseplanet.net

Meta is pushing forward with its commitment to the Metaverse, this time by collaborating with universities in the United States and United Kingdom to launch so-called “Metaversities”. These selected universities will integrate Metaverse technologies into their educational systems.

The company, which even changed its name from Facebook to Meta to reflect its Metaverse vision, is now taking a bold step in the education sector. Under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg, Meta has formed partnerships with a number of academic institutions to establish virtual universities using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools.

What is a “Metaversity”?

In simple terms, the Metaverse aims to transfer real-life experiences into a virtual world. According to Zuckerberg and his team, this is the future of technology. However, despite investing billions of dollars, Meta has struggled to generate profit from the Metaverse, largely due to widespread public skepticism.

Now, the company is turning to the education industry as a new channel to promote the Metaverse. Through this initiative, courses will be delivered in digital environments, and students will participate using AR headsets to interact with immersive content.

A New Era in Education

According to Meta, Metaversities will revolutionize education in fields such as science, medicine, history, and language arts. Instructors will be able to engage with students more effectively and deliver enriched learning experiences thanks to the immersive technologies being implemented.
