Fortnite has been through multiple changes when it comes to its overall design, UI, gameplay and even the core modes Epic caters to its player base. From the leap of graphics in Unreal Engine 5.1 using Nanites and Lumen, to the change in locker system and Battle Pass progression, players have been quite vocal about the said modifications made to the game.

Now one feature is something that players have been asking for from Epic ever since it was leaked in Creative mode and that’s a First Person View or First Person Camera in the game. Epic has finally announced that the feature is arriving but might not be exactly how players wanted.

Fortnite to launch first-person camera in UEFN this December

The official Fortnite Creators account has announced that islands that are using the experimental First Person Camera in Creative mode will finally be allowed to be published starting December 11.

With the launch of Chapter 5 Season 4, Epic released an experimental camera that allows players to play in FPV mode but was restricted from publishing islands using that.

Now since the camera is finally being made public, players are wondering if they’ll have the option to change their view mode in Battle Royale and Zero Build game modes. Keeping in mind that while using some weapons in BR lets you enter an FPV camera mode, it’s highly likely that Chapter 6 will finally bring about this change in core Fortnite gameplay.

Players who have been waiting for this update expressed their joy on socials with one user saying, “Something devious will be unleashed.” Another wrote, “It’s gonna be like a whole new game.”

However other Fortnite players expressed their concerns over the compatibility of non-moddable weapons with the first-person camera, and are hoping Epic finds a workaround for the same.

Claw machine deckbuilder Dungeon Clawler arrives November 21 and it’s going to grab you

Dungeon Clawler from Stray Fawn Studio who also made The Wandering Village is a claw machine deckbuilder that’s now planned to hit Early Access on November 21st.

I’ve had access for a while as the developer sent an early key, and it’s totally grabbed me. I’m a huge sucker for these more casual games, most recently sinking hours into Peglin and now this is going to absolutely destroy my time. Such a simple idea but really makes you itch to have just one more run. Really clever idea and game mechanics, looking forward to seeing it out to see what more players think of it.

Since the previous demo in Steam Next Fest they’ve added lots of content including:

Difficulty modes (Normal, Hard, Very Hard and Nightmare).
Unlockable lucky paws to equip your character with.
5 new playable characters Squiddy, Garbage Greg, Anne Bunny and Hare L. Quinn.
New rooms (Alchemist to change materials, various mystery rooms).
Reworked 20 floor map featuring multiple exists to choose from.
Full gamepad support.

How To Use Cloud Storage To Transfer Data From Ps5 To Ps5 Pro

Upgrading from a PS5 to a PS5 Pro means gaining enhanced graphics, improved performance, and a more immersive gaming experience. But, before you start gaming on your new console, it’s crucial to transfer your saved data, so you don’t lose your progress. One of the most efficient ways to transfer data is through the PlayStation Plus cloud storage service, which allows you to back up and restore saved games and settings between consoles without needing any additional equipment. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to use cloud storage to transfer data from your PS5 to your PS5 Pro, ensuring a smooth and effortless transition.

1. Why Choose Cloud Storage for Data Transfer?

Cloud storage is one of the most reliable ways to transfer data between consoles, especially for PlayStation Plus members. Here’s why it’s a preferred choice:

Convenience: You don’t need any physical storage devices, such as a USB drive or external hard drive, which makes the process more convenient and accessible.

Automatic Backup: PS Plus subscribers can set up automatic backups, ensuring that all saved games and game data are regularly stored in the cloud.

Quick Access Across Consoles: You can easily access your saved games on the new PS5 Pro without waiting for long transfer times or moving data manually.

Data Security: Cloud storage offers secure data backup, so even if there’s a hardware issue, your saved data remains safe.

However, you must be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to access cloud storage. If you don’t have a subscription, consider signing up before starting the transfer.

2. Preparing for Cloud Storage Transfer

Before transferring your data, you’ll need to prepare both consoles to ensure a smooth process. Here are some essential steps to follow:

Ensure Both Consoles are Updated: Make sure both your PS5 and PS5 Pro have the latest system software updates installed. This minimizes compatibility issues and speeds up the process.

Sign into the Same PSN Account: Log into your PlayStation Network (PSN) account on both the PS5 and PS5 Pro. Only data tied to the same PSN account can be accessed and downloaded.

Stable Internet Connection: A strong, stable internet connection is necessary for uploading and downloading data. If possible, connect both consoles to your router with an Ethernet cable for faster upload and download speeds.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’re ready to start using cloud storage for data transfer.

How to Upload Saved Data to Cloud Storage on PS5

3. How to Upload Saved Data to Cloud Storage on PS5

To begin the data transfer, you’ll need to upload your saved games and game data to the cloud from your PS5. Follow these steps to upload saved data:

Step 1: Enable Automatic Cloud Sync

First, ensure that your PS5 is set up to automatically back up saved data to the cloud. Here’s how:

Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5).

Choose Sync Saved Data, then enable Automatic Upload.

With this option enabled, your console will automatically upload saved data to the cloud whenever you finish playing a game. This feature is especially helpful if you regularly switch between consoles or want to ensure your progress is always saved.

Step 2: Manually Upload Specific Saved Data (Optional)

If you want to upload specific saved games rather than all data, you can manually select the games you want to back up:

Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Console Storage > Upload to Cloud Storage.

Select the games you want to upload and confirm the upload.

Manual uploads are useful if you have limited cloud storage space or only want to back up a few specific games.

4. How to Download Saved Data from Cloud Storage on PS5 Pro

Once your saved data is stored in the cloud, it’s easy to download it onto your PS5 Pro. Here’s how:

Step 1: Log into the Same PSN Account on Your PS5 Pro

Ensure that you’re logged into the same PlayStation Network account on your PS5 Pro as the one used on your PS5. Only saved data tied to this account can be accessed.

Step 2: Access Cloud Storage on Your PS5 Pro

On your PS5 Pro, follow these steps:

Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data.

Select Download from Cloud Storage.

Step 3: Choose Data to Download

You’ll see a list of all saved data available in the cloud. Select the specific games you want to download onto your PS5 Pro, then confirm.

How to Download Saved Data from Cloud Storage on PS5 Pro

Step 4: Wait for the Download to Complete

Depending on the size of the saved data and your internet connection speed, the download might take several minutes. Once the download is complete, you can verify your saved game data by launching a game and checking for your previous progress.

5. Tips for Efficient Cloud Storage Data Transfer

To make the data transfer process as smooth as possible, consider the following tips:

Back Up Data Regularly: Even after completing the initial transfer, continue to back up your data to the cloud regularly. This ensures that any new progress you make on your PS5 Pro is saved and easily accessible if you switch consoles again.

Monitor Cloud Storage Space: PS Plus subscribers have a limited amount of cloud storage space, so monitor your storage usage and delete any outdated or unnecessary saved data when needed.

Check Network Speed: For faster uploads and downloads, use a high-speed internet connection. You can also reduce download time by only downloading essential saved data rather than everything.

Verify Data After Downloading: After downloading saved data to your PS5 Pro, verify that everything transferred correctly by launching your games and confirming your progress.

6. Troubleshooting Common Cloud Storage Issues

Sometimes, issues can arise during the data transfer process. Here’s how to troubleshoot some common problems:

Issue: Data Won’t Sync to the Cloud

If your saved data isn’t syncing to the cloud, try these solutions:

Check that Automatic Upload is enabled under Sync Saved Data in Settings.

Ensure that you’re signed into the correct PSN account and have a stable internet connection.

Restart your PS5 and try uploading again.

Issue: Unable to Download Saved Data on PS5 Pro

If your saved data isn’t downloading onto your PS5 Pro, you may need to:

Double-check that you’re logged into the same PSN account on both consoles.

Restart your PS5 Pro and retry the download.

Confirm that you have sufficient cloud storage space and delete unneeded data if necessary.

Issue: Data Corruption or Incomplete Transfer

If a saved file appears corrupted or doesn’t transfer correctly, re-upload the data from your PS5 and re-download it onto your PS5 Pro. You may also want to check for software updates, as outdated system software can sometimes lead to data transfer issues.

Troubleshooting Common Cloud Storage Issues

7. Final Verification and Adjustments

Once your data transfer is complete, take the time to verify that all your saved games are accessible and functioning as expected. Open a few of your recently played games and check for saved progress, achievements, and any customized settings. If everything appears intact, your data transfer has been successful, and you can resume gaming on your PS5 Pro.

With the arrival of the PS5 Pro, Sony has taken gaming to new heights, offering gamers a console with enhanced performance, graphics, and load speeds compared to the regular PS5. Both consoles provide a fantastic experience, but the PS5 Pro’s upgraded hardware makes it better suited for certain games, especially those that are graphically demanding, benefit from high frame rates, or support 4K resolution with HDR. For those looking to experience the best of what the PS5 Pro can offer, here’s a list of some standout games where the PS5 Pro really shines compared to the regular PS5, along with what specific advantages the new console brings to each game.

The game benefits from higher frame rates on the PS5 Pro, resulting in a smoother, more responsive experience, especially during intense battles. PS5 Pro Advantage: Enhanced ray tracing, smoother frame rates, and improved texture quality.

8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

For competitive players, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is an ideal title to play on the PS5 Pro. The console’s upgraded hardware provides smoother gameplay at higher frame rates, which is essential for fast-paced multiplayer modes where split-second reactions can make all the difference. The PS5 Pro allows players to maintain high frame rates even in graphically demanding settings, and the improved resolution gives a slight visual edge that helps with spotting distant targets more clearly.

PS5 Pro Advantage: Higher and more stable frame rates, improved resolution, and enhanced visual clarity.

9. God of War: Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok is known for its cinematic experience and stunning visuals, and the PS5 Pro takes advantage of this by delivering smoother frame rates and finer graphical details. How To Transfer Saved Games From Ps5 To Ps5 Pro

Transferring saved games from a PS5 to a PS5 Pro is essential for gamers upgrading to Sony’s latest console. The process preserves your hard-earned progress, game settings, and configurations, ensuring a seamless transition. Fortunately, Sony has simplified the data transfer process to allow you to continue your gaming experience without missing a beat. This guide covers several methods for transferring your saved games and game data, with step-by-step instructions.

1. Preparing for the Transfer

Before starting the data transfer process, it’s essential to prepare your consoles. Here’s what you’ll need:

Firmware Updates: Ensure that both your PS5 and PS5 Pro are updated with the latest system software. These updates improve stability and prevent potential issues during transfer.

Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection: Both consoles need to be connected to the same network. An Ethernet cable is recommended for faster and more stable transfers.

PlayStation Network (PSN) Account: Make sure you’re signed into the same PSN account on both consoles.

Once both consoles are connected, powered on, and updated, you’re ready to begin the transfer process.

2. Choosing a Transfer Method

There are three primary ways to transfer saved game data from a PS5 to a PS5 Pro:

Wi-Fi or LAN Cable: A direct connection method that allows for full data transfers between consoles.

External Storage Device: A portable method, useful if you prefer transferring specific files or have limited internet access.

PS Plus Cloud Storage: This option is available for PS Plus subscribers, providing cloud access to saved game data.

Each method has its advantages, depending on your setup and data transfer preferences.

Method 1: Transferring Data via Wi-Fi or LAN Cable

This is the most comprehensive method, allowing you to move saved game data, user profiles, and game installations.

Step 1: Connect Both Consoles

Connect both your PS5 and PS5 Pro to the same Wi-Fi network. For faster speeds, you may choose to connect both consoles directly to the router using LAN cables.

Step 2: Access Data Transfer on PS5 Pro

On your PS5 Pro, go to Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer.

Step 3: Follow the On-Screen Prompts

The system will guide you through a series of prompts. You may be asked to press the power button on the PS5 (source console) for one second until you hear a beep, which initiates the transfer.

Method 1: Transferring Data via Wi-Fi or LAN Cable

Step 4: Select Data to Transfer

You’ll see a list of data types, including saved game files, installed games, and user profiles. Select the saved game files you want to transfer. You can also transfer additional data like screenshots, installed games, and settings if you wish.

Step 5: Begin Transfer

Once you confirm your selection, the PS5 Pro will start the transfer process. Depending on the amount of data, this can take anywhere from several minutes to a few hours. Keep both consoles powered on and avoid any network interruptions during this process.

Step 6: Restart and Verify

After the transfer is complete, your PS5 Pro will prompt you to restart. Once it reboots, verify that all saved game data has transferred correctly by launching a game to check for your saved progress.

Method 2: Using an External Storage Device

If you prefer transferring only specific saved games or lack internet access, using an external storage device (like a USB flash drive or external HDD) is a simple alternative.

Step 1: Format External Storage

Ensure your USB storage device is formatted to FAT32 or exFAT, which is required for compatibility with the PS5.

Step 2: Copy Saved Games to USB on PS5

On your PS5, navigate to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Console Storage > Copy to USB Drive. Select the saved games you want to transfer, and then copy them to the USB device.

Step 3: Insert USB into PS5 Pro

Once copying is complete, safely remove the USB drive and insert it into the PS5 Pro.

Step 4: Copy Saved Games from USB

On your PS5 Pro, go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (USB Drive) > Copy to Console Storage. Select the saved games you wish to transfer to the console.

This method is particularly effective for those with limited time or data. It also allows you to selectively transfer only the game files you need, rather than all data.

Method 2: Using an External Storage Device

Method 3: Using PS Plus Cloud Storage

For PlayStation Plus members, cloud storage offers an efficient and convenient option for data transfer. By uploading saved games to the cloud on your PS5, you can download them on your PS5 Pro without needing any physical devices.

Step 1: Enable Cloud Sync on PS5

On your PS5, go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data. Ensure automatic cloud sync is enabled so that your saved games are backed up to the PS Plus cloud.

Step 2: Upload Saved Games to Cloud

Manually upload saved games by selecting specific titles and choosing Upload to Cloud Storage. This ensures that the latest save files are available on the PS5 Pro.

Step 3: Download Saved Games on PS5 Pro

On your PS5 Pro, log into the same PSN account. Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data, and select Download to retrieve your saved games from the cloud.

Step 4: Verify Game Progress

Once downloaded, verify your saved game progress by opening each game and checking for the correct data.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

While the process is typically smooth, issues can arise. Here’s how to troubleshoot common problems:

Network Issues: If you experience slow speeds or interruptions, try using an Ethernet cable for a more stable connection.

Storage Full: Ensure your PS5 Pro has adequate storage. You may need to delete unneeded games or media to make room for the transfer.

Account Issues: Ensure you’re logged into the same PSN account on both consoles. Different accounts cannot transfer data.

File Corruption: If a file doesn’t transfer properly, try re-uploading or re-downloading it, or consider using a different transfer method.

Method 3: Using PS Plus Cloud Storage

Additional Tips for a Smooth Transfer

Plan for Transfer Time: Some transfers can take hours, especially over Wi-Fi, so plan accordingly.

Back-Up Your Data: Use multiple methods to back up important saved games, particularly if you have rare items or advanced progress.

Keep Consoles Updated: Updated firmware minimizes potential issues during transfer.

Sugamenia Switch Review

Sugamenia Switch Review

Sugamenia is a metroidvania made by one man. There is another famous Metroidvania also made by one man: Axiom Verge. This is not Axiom Verge, not even close. But for what it is, its good. You are violet, who is stuck on an alien planet for… I don’t know. It is never explained in game. She is rescued by a flying Switch she calls Suichi. Together you must escape the alien planet. The game is a simplified metroidvania. There’s no map and 3 classes of collectables in Sugamenia: health boosts in garbage bins, flying bugs inside destructible purple lights and Xs sitting on “Chozo statues.” There are power-ups, that come after bosses.

Told you was a flying Switch!

There are 10 areas in Sugamenia, all fairly different visually, though you’ll spend most of your time in them flipping switches. Bosses appear at the end of some of the areas. Now the bosses can be… underwhelming. The second boss is also a flying Switch(see below). Difficulty can spike at times, but nothing too overwhelming. Though there is a hard mode if you want to play that. Finally, at the save points, you can return to previous areas to pick up the stuff you missed in Sugamenia.

Told you it was a flying Switch!

Sugamenia gets a Recommended verdict with a seven back-end score. It would have earned an eight with a map and more explanation for things. But as it is, its a fine little game. Shouldn’t take you more than a few hours to complete. Overall, Jesus Saz did a good job here, as did the music composer. Well done!

Sugamenia

Overall: Sugamenia is a decent little Metroidvania. The plot revolves around flying Switches, I wish I was joking, but I’m not.

Verdict: Recommended

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gets a new gameplay deep dive trailer | TheSixthAxis

MachineGames has released a new deep dive gameplay trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, with the archeological adventure set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC on 3rd December, and on PS5 in spring 2025.

MachineGames Audio Director, Pete Ward, guides us on this tour through the first person action adventure. While there’s some new clips and things to see, it’s fair to say that this video covers a fair bit of familiar ground from previous trailers, including the figure of Tony Todd as a mysterious and very imposing antagonist right at the start of the game – who sadly passed away age 69 last week, making this game a posthumous appearance – and the companion character, photojournalist Gina, who teams up with Indy on the chase after Emmerich Voss who’s on a global hunt for otherworldly artefacts.

Indy has a camera of his own, using it to take photos of the world as you adventure, potentially getting clues from Indy as you do so. This fills in Indy’s journal, which will track the adventure so far and all the clips. You might also have to get your Agent 47 on with some disguises to get into restricted areas.

I got to go hands on with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last month, and had a rather good time. Playing in first person (with a few snippets of third person) might be different from what you’d expect, given that Indiana Jones inspired the likes of Tomb Raider and Uncharted, but it works. I said, “I’m rather keen to see how this full adventure comes together. MachineGames are taking a less obvious path, but that’s going to lead to a much more individual and distinctive game and journey. And if you’re going to trust anyone to make a game that’s a lot to do with beating up fascists, it’s probably them!”

If you find yourself in need of a good hearty chuckle, we’ve got just the list for you. We’ve pulled together a selection of the best video games that are actually funny. From amnesiac disaster cops to flying suitcases and more, here are 10 games (and series) with the best comedy writing the medium has to offer.

Where to play: Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

Disco Elysium is considered by many to be one of the best-written RPGs of the past decade, so it’s no surprise that it’s also considered one of the funniest. No matter how the player chooses to customize their starting stats, the protagonist of Disco Elysium is the living human embodiment of a train wreck, bumbling from one perversely embarrassing encounter to the next in his existential mission to not only uncover the culprit behind a murder, but settle on an ideological framework by which to judge that murder. More often than not, you can’t stop your character from putting his whole foot (or worse) in his mouth. All you can do is try to roll with the punches and laugh your way through it. —Toussaint Egan

Where to play: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

The Homing Briefcase alone would be enough to earn the Hitman series’ spot on this list. But that’s just one example of the many ways IO Interactive’s immersive assassination simulator allows players to toy with the game’s impressively crafted stages. Rather than attempting to make massive open-world environments, the games instead function more like the best city block simulators you’ve ever played, each with their own intricate series of patterns, pathways, and ridiculous characters. The games’ winking tone, silly weapons, and penchant for hijinks means every attempt at a level is a chance for something hilarious to happen. —Pete Volk

Starting with The Secret of Monkey Island in 1990 and running all the way to Return to Monkey Island in 2022 (which landed at No. 16 on Polygon’s list of the top 50 best games of the year), this series has been a standard-bearer for comedy in point-and-click adventure games. That’s to the credit of Ron Gilbert, a master of puns and interactive story design, who headed up each game in the series. Very few games have made me laugh out loud while playing them, but all six Monkey Island games have. You do need to like puns, though. —Maddy Myers

In Overboard!, you are not motivated by righteousness — unless you think pushing your husband off a cruise ship because he’s holding you back in life is righteous. This point-and-click murder mystery starts out with a grisly killing like any other, but in this colorful take, you’re not trying to solve it — you’re trying to get away with it. It has to be funny by nature, otherwise it’d be morally depraved, and the game succeeds there. The main character is sultry and witty, and you might find yourself commanding her to seduce the captain by complimenting his hat or smother a nasty old woman who knows too much. Whether you end up in jail or not, when each 20-minute playthrough ends, you can start over with your new information and a few new objectives in tow. —Zoë Hannah

Paper Mario: Color Splash

Nintendo’s writers like to cut loose when it comes to the humor and real-world references in the Paper Mario series. The entire franchise is varying degrees of funny, but the series may have peaked with 2016’s Paper Mario: Color Splash for Wii U — a game that’s unfortunately still stuck on that platform.

Paper Mario: Color Splash sends Mario to Prism Island, after the heroic plumber receives a letter in the mail — which actually turns out to be a paper Toad who has been drained of its color, having met that fate thanks to paint-slurping, straw-wielding Shy Guys. At Prism Island, they meet Huey, a sentient can of paint who delivers much of the game’s jokes and meta-commentary. Color Splash is also packed with wise-cracking Toads — this game has SO many Toads — and Bowser’s minions who riff on anything and everything. There are great paper-based sight gags, fourth-wall-breaking jabs at the Mario franchise, cleverly disguised gun-control jokes, and even jokes about the Watergate scandal. Some of the game’s real-world references may have even gotten a little too hot for Nintendo’s tastes.

If you don’t have a Wii U handy, hope that Nintendo sees fit to bring Color Splash forward to the Switch. But Switch owners have another great option in Paper Mario: The Origami King, which is also very funny — just not as consistently funny as Color Splash. —Michael McWhertor

The first Portal is a standout for puzzle design, an irrepressible gem that remains on almost every critic’s personal best-of-all-time video game list for good reason. But the other reason it’s a standout is its dialogue. You play as Chell, a silent protagonist stuck in a maze-like series of puzzle rooms that turn out to be a testing center run by a sentient robot named GLaDOS. For whatever reason, this robot has been programmed to be a master shit-talker, and she will be making you chuckle even as you question what the hell is going on throughout every single puzzle room. She keeps up the shtick in Portal 2, but her jokes get a lot meaner and (in my opinion) less funny; the original Portal has the perfect balance. —Maddy Myers

Do you enjoy Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, or That Mitchell and Webb Look? If yes, have I got the game for you. If no, consider this an introduction (or indoctrination) to the world of absurdist British humor. Developed by Coal Supper and published by Panic Inc. (the latter best known for Untitled Goose Game), Thank Goodness You’re Here is a comedic adventure game about a small fellow running errands for the locals of Barnsworth, a fictional small town in Northern England. You interact with everything — and I mean everything — by punching, which proves to be an exceptionally effective strategy. The writing is brisk and cheeky, supported by an exceptional cast of actors that includes What We Do in the Shadows star Matt Berry. —Chris Plante

The Yakuza/Like a Dragon series

Think of the Yakuza series (recently rebranded Like a Dragon in Western markets) as a collision of The Godfather and The Simpsons. Each entry tells a life-or-death story of an ex-Yakuza member navigating the gray space between crime, law enforcement, and civilian life. But these dramatic narrative threads get entwined with hundreds of side characters and their comedic, heartfelt ambitions. Take for example the most recent release, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The protagonist’s desire to save Hawaii from a megalomaniacal cult leader gets put on ice as he helps a struggling musician rediscover his passion for environmentalist death metal. For nearly two decades, the game’s designers have chosen joy above all else, whether that’s a parody of Pokémon in which you collect local perverts, an Animal Crossing clone set on an island of trash, or a boss battle in which the squad fends off construction vehicles with a collection of pristine office furniture. —CP

There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension

I’m remiss to say anything about how There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension plays, because watching the confounding narrative unfold with each chapter is the joy in itself. It feels distinctly inspired by the point-and-click browser games of old like World’s Hardest Game, where the game itself is plotting against the player. This version is animated and aged up for the current moment, filled with decisions and puzzles that’ll confuse you into putting the game down, but motivate you to pick it up again a few minutes later. This game is not fair, but it is supremely funny — the perfect antidote to the current moment, which also feels like the wrong dimension. —ZH

Where to play: Mac, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC

Trombone Champ could have been a one-note joke, that note being the flatulent tooting of a trombone. The rhythm parody game could have effectively mocked the genre with nothing more than its out-of-tune, fart-adjacent impersonation of the instrument. An ironic selection of public domain hits like “The Blue Danube” and “The Old Gray Mare” would have sealed the deal as an instant hit on Twitch streams. But the more you play Trombone Champ, the funnier it gets, as you uncover bizarre “Tromboner” cards and inexplicable baboon-related deep lore. The community has made hundreds of custom tracks if you want to trombone your way through the fire and flames. But if that’s all too much satire for you, it’s still ultimately a game about making fart sounds, and that will always be funny. Perfecto! —Clayton Ashley

Who is Stronger, Wukong or Erlang Shen?

The question of whether Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, is stronger than Erlang Shen, the Chinese god of war and one of the most skilled warriors in Chinese mythology, is a fascinating debate that has intrigued readers of *Journey to the West* and enthusiasts of Chinese mythology alike. Both Wukong and Erlang Shen are legendary figures known for their immense strength, magical abilities, and combat prowess. Their iconic showdown, which takes place during *Journey to the West*, stands as one of the most famous battles in Chinese literature, symbolizing not only a clash of physical and magical strength but also a contest of wits and resilience.

To understand who is stronger, we must consider each character’s origins, powers, abilities, and the broader context of their rivalry. Both Wukong and Erlang Shen bring unique strengths to the table, and comparing them requires a look at their roles in mythology, their specific abilities, and the outcome of their epic duel.

 Background and Origins

Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a central figure in *Journey to the West*, a classic Chinese novel attributed to Wu Cheng’en. Wukong is born from a magical stone on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit and gains his powers through rigorous training and defiance of heavenly and earthly authority. He is known for his rebellious spirit, his cunning, and his extraordinary powers, which include shape-shifting, superhuman strength, speed, and mastery over the mystical staff Ruyi Jingu Bang.

Erlang Shen, on the other hand, is a divine hero in Chinese folklore and a symbol of loyalty, strength, and righteousness. He is often depicted as the nephew of the Jade Emperor and a skilled warrior who uses his third eye to see through deception. Erlang Shen is known for his unwavering sense of duty, his loyalty to the celestial realm, and his role as a protector. In mythology, he is considered one of the most powerful gods, possessing incredible combat skills and wielding a magical trident known as the “Three-pointed, Double-edged Lance.

Powers and Abilities

To fairly compare Wukong and Erlang Shen, we must break down their unique strengths and analyze how these abilities complement and contrast with each other.

Sun Wukong’s Abilities

72 Transformations (Shapeshifting): Wukong is a master of transformation, capable of taking on 72 different forms. This ability gives him versatility in combat, allowing him to evade attacks, deceive opponents, and even assume the form of other creatures or objects to trick enemies.

Ruyi Jingu Bang: Wukong wields the legendary staff Ruyi Jingu Bang, a magical weapon that can change size at will. He can shrink it to the size of a needle or expand it to towering heights. It is incredibly durable and, in Wukong’s skilled hands, becomes an unstoppable weapon.

Immortality: Sun Wukong achieved immortality through various means, including stealing the peaches of immortality, drinking the elixir of life, and mastering Taoist alchemy. His numerous forms of immortality make him nearly indestructible, adding to his resilience in combat.

Speed and Agility: Wukong’s speed is unmatched—he can travel more than 54,000 kilometers in a single somersault. His agility makes him hard to pin down, giving him a significant advantage in evading attacks.

Martial Arts Mastery: Wukong is a skilled martial artist, having studied under Subhuti, an immortal who taught him various magical techniques and combat skills. His mastery over martial arts makes him a formidable opponent in close combat.

Who is Stronger, Wukong or Erlang Shen?

Erlang Shen’s Abilities

Third Eye: One of Erlang Shen’s most distinguishing features is his third eye, which grants him the ability to see through illusions and deceptions. This skill is particularly useful when dealing with an opponent like Wukong, who often relies on trickery and shapeshifting.

Three-pointed, Double-edged Lance: Erlang Shen’s weapon of choice is his magical lance, which he wields with great skill and strength. It is a versatile weapon that suits his direct and powerful combat style, allowing him to strike with precision and deadly force.

Shapeshifting Abilities: While not as adept as Wukong, Erlang Shen also has shapeshifting abilities. He can transform into various forms, though he usually relies more on his physical strength and his third eye than on transformations.

Control over Celestial Hound: Erlang Shen is often accompanied by his loyal hound, which can track down opponents and assist him in battle. The hound adds an additional layer to his combat strategy and can be used to pursue Wukong even if he tries to escape.

Divine Strength and Combat Prowess: As a god of war, Erlang Shen possesses extraordinary strength and combat skills. He is revered as one of the strongest celestial warriors, known for his valor, discipline, and mastery over a range of martial arts techniques.

The Legendary Duel: Sun Wukong vs. Erlang Shen

In Journey to the West, Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen come into direct conflict when Wukong’s rebellious actions lead him to challenge the heavens. In response, the Jade Emperor sends Erlang Shen to subdue the Monkey King, resulting in a fierce showdown that tests both characters’ powers and resilience.

The Battle of Strength and Wit

During their confrontation, Wukong and Erlang Shen are portrayed as equals in many respects. The fight showcases not only their physical abilities but also their strategic thinking. Both characters rely on their strengths: Wukong uses his shapeshifting, speed, and agility to evade attacks, while Erlang Shen counters with his third eye, strength, and precise strikes.

Wukong’s Strategy: Wukong uses his transformation abilities to try to outmaneuver Erlang Shen. For example, he transforms into various creatures to escape or deceive his opponent, attempting to exploit any opportunity to land a surprise attack.

Erlang Shen’s Counter: However, Erlang Shen’s third eye allows him to see through Wukong’s transformations, negating Wukong’s usual advantage. The third eye prevents Wukong from using his shapeshifting to escape or deceive Erlang Shen, forcing him to rely on direct combat skills.

Who is Stronger, Wukong or Erlang Shen?

Stalemate and Divine Intervention

The duel between Wukong and Erlang Shen ends in a stalemate, with neither character able to decisively defeat the other. Both demonstrate their strengths, and although Erlang Shen gains a slight advantage by using his third eye, Wukong’s resilience and resourcefulness prevent him from being subdued. Ultimately, the battle reaches a point where the Jade Emperor must intervene, and only through the Buddha’s divine intervention is Wukong finally captured and subdued.

Analysis: Who is Truly Stronger?

While Erlang Shen’s powers make him a formidable opponent, Sun Wukong’s resilience, adaptability, and varied powers arguably give him a slight edge in the long term. However, “strength” can be defined in different ways, and each character has unique traits that make them strong in their own respect.

Physical and Combat Strength: Erlang Shen likely has an edge in raw physical power and martial discipline. His experience as a god of war and his expertise in wielding the three-pointed lance make him one of the most skilled fighters in the celestial realm.

Magical Abilities: Wukong’s range of magical abilities, including his 72 transformations, immortality, and speed, give him more versatility. While Erlang Shen’s powers are formidable, Wukong’s unique abilities allow him to adapt to various situations, making him incredibly resilient.

Endurance and Resilience: Wukong’s numerous forms of immortality make him incredibly hard to defeat. In contrast, Erlang Shen, though powerful, does not have the same degree of invincibility as Wukong. This immortality gives Wukong an advantage in any drawn-out conflict, as he can survive injuries that might incapacitate Erlang Shen.

Mental Fortitude and Wit: Wukong is often depicted as more cunning and mischievous, using his intellect to outwit opponents. Erlang Shen, while strategic, is more straightforward and relies on his combat prowess. Wukong’s ability to think quickly and adapt to unexpected challenges adds to his strength.

Who is Stronger, Wukong or Erlang Shen?

Third Eye as an Equalizer: Erlang Shen’s third eye is a powerful tool that neutralizes Wukong’s trickery and shapeshifting. This ability gives Erlang Shen a key advantage, as it enables him to counter Wukong’s main strength—his transformations and illusions.

Conclusion: A Complex Balance of Strengths

In the end, the question of who is stronger—Wukong or Erlang Shen—depends largely on the context. If we define strength as purely physical and combat skill, Erlang Shen’s martial expertise, third eye, and disciplined approach make him a formidable opponent who can match and sometimes surpass Wukong in battle.

However, if we consider resilience, adaptability, and endurance, Sun Wukong’s diverse powers and immortality give him a unique advantage. Wukong’s ability to withstand defeat, adapt to challenges, and use his cunning make him incredibly powerful in his own way.
