Polish development studio 7LEVELS has announced Castle of Heart: Retold, a massively upgraded and expanded version of their original dark fantasy action platformer, which sold over 300,000 copies on Nintendo Switch.

This “Retold” edition is set to conquer new platforms this summer, launching on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is also planned.

Castle of Heart: Retold plunges players back into a challenging quest to defeat an evil sorcerer, playing as a knight cursed to turn to stone. This isn’t just a port; it’s a complete revamp featuring significant enhancements across gameplay, story, visuals, and more.

With 7LEVELS previously behind Kong: Survivor Instinct, this feels like one to watch.

A Slavic Legend Reimagined: The Story of Svaran & Mira

The game is set against a backdrop inspired by Slavic mythology. An evil Sorcerer, servant of the dark god Chernobog, has cast a terrible curse upon the brave warrior Svaran, turning his body to stone.

To save his beloved Mira, the last priestess of the goddess Mokosh, and liberate the land from the Sorcerer’s tyrannical rule, Svaran must embark on a perilous journey.

The catch? The curse is progressive. Svaran needs to keep his “killer streak” going by defeating enemies; otherwise, his stone body will begin to disintegrate, eventually costing him limbs and the ability to wield weapons! This creates a unique, high-stakes gameplay dynamic.

Developer Saber Interactive has kept the momentum going with regular updates that add new material to the game’s story, PvE, and PvP modes.

Recent updates have included new cosmetics, enemy types, and a redesigned perk system, while the March 2025 hotfix 6.2 improved gameplay balance and laid the groundwork for the huge 7.0 release. Now, all eyes are on the highly anticipated Update 8, which is set to be released on June 26, 2025, and promises to enhance the experience with new DLC and the addition of a thrilling game mode.

Throughout 2025, players have benefited from additions such as the Salamander Champion skin, new PvE objectives, and a more difficult Absolute difficulty mode, as well as additional Battle Barge features like the Datavault for lore enthusiasts. Siege Mode, set in the rainforest world of Kadaku, is a three-player co-op mode in which players defend an Imperial citadel against fiercer enemy hordes. The goal is simple yet punishing: hold your ground for as long as possible, knowing that survival is fleeting but glory is eternal.

The mode pits players against “seemingly endless” waves of Tyranids, using Saber Interactive’s swarm technology to generate chaotic, high-intensity fights. Expect to face familiar foes like Tyranid Gaunts in ranged combat, as well as harder enemies like Tyranid Warriors that require precise melee techniques, parries, and dodges.

The game incorporates Space Marine 2’s existing progression system, letting players gain points for upgrades and reinforcements, which improve their loadouts and abilities as the waves escalate. The Biovore, a new Extremis-level Tyranid with a destructive biological cannon and melee abilities, offers a new layer of difficulty.

Siege Mode, which will be available for testing on the Public Test Server (PC/Steam) beginning June 4, 2025, claims to reward teamwork and strategy, with players balancing armor regeneration through executions and health recovery via medkits.

Get some dino games like Parkasaurus, Amber Isle and Prehistoric Kingdom in this Humble Bundle


I looked over the list and for me personally, Prehistoric Kingdom is the star of the show here. It’s a superb dinosaur/prehistoric-animals park builder with modular building system, which is actually a joy to build with, unlike in Planet Zoo. The animals are extremely good looking and it’s so much fun to make realistic exhibits. And it has BABY DINOS! Need I say more.
The other ones that seem interesting are Amber Isle (which reminds me a lot of Stardew Valley) and Fossilfuel 2, and possibly Parkasaurus. The rest of the bundle seems rather weak though.

Personally, I think it’s worth it just for Prehistoric Kingdom alone. It’s weird they did not include any of the Jurassic World Evolution titles here though or ARK

Don’t be surprised that Guillermo del Toro says his version of Frankenstein for Netflix won’t be a horror movie


Guillermo del Toro recently spoke at the Cannes Film Festival, sharing some details about his upcoming film Frankenstein, set to release on Netflix later this year. As reported by Variety, he said he’s been asked whether his movie will have “really scary scenes.” That prompted the Academy Award-winning director to ponder how people would receive the movie made: “For the first time, I considered that. It’s an emotional story for me. It’s as personal as anything. I’m asking a question about being a father, being a son… I’m not doing a horror movie — ever. I’m not trying to do that.”

While it can be confusing to hear a man with story and producer credits on a film literally called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (adapted from the excellent book of the same name) say he’s “not trying to do” horror, that mindset aligns with most of his career.

Del Toro’s early movies, like Cronos and The Devil’s Backbone, can certainly be classified as horror. While his later films feature frightening elements, though, they break away from conventional horror and lean more into gothic fantasies and dark fairy tales. I was as scared as anyone by the Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth, perhaps his most famous film, but that doesn’t make it a horror movie. It’s more of a fantasy and a parable, examining the realities of war through the eyes and imaginative reinterpretations of a young girl.

Though Crimson Peak tells a ghost story, it features romance at its core. And The Shape of Water continues a focus on romance, as well as telling a story centered around embracing the Other. With an ending that sees protagonist Elisa (Sally Hawkins) becoming a mythical creature herself, it’s more of a fairy tale than a horror film.

Emphasizing with the ostracized is at the core of plenty of del Toro’s work, whether its Elisa and The Amphibian Man’s fairy-tale-esque love story or Hellboy’s pursuit of normalcy in del Toro’s adaptation of Mike Mignola’s comics. “The first time I thought I was going to avenge the creature was when Marilyn Monroe is coming out [of 1954’s The Creature from the Black Lagoon] in The Seven Year Itch with Tom Ewell, and she says the creature just needed somebody to like him,” del Toro said at Cannes. “I fell in love with Marilyn, and I fell in love with the creature in that scene at a very early age. And I thought, you know, all we have is people that look at people the wrong way. That’s what we have in this world.”

Don’t expect Frankenstein to be any different. “[F]or me, it’s an incredibly emotional movie,” del Toro said. With its focus on the parental relationship between Victor Frankenstein and his creation, Frankenstein sounds similar to del Toro’s last film, the stop-motion Pinocchio. “[Geppetto] has asked, almost like in a horror tale: ‘I want my child back.’ And the child comes back in a way that he doesn’t recognize,” del Toro told Polygon about Pinocchio in 2022. It marked his return to animation after a pooping burglar destroyed his first attempt at the medium. Now that’s what I’d consider a horror story.

Nintendo is billing Switch 2’s upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment as “the story leading into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” giving players the chance to participate in the Imprisoning War that occurred during Hyrule’s ancient past. According to developer Koei Tecmo, the game will also delve further into the lore and characters from this mysterious time period.

“This game takes place during the Imprisoning War, which is shown in fragments in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” Koei Tecmo’s Yosuke Hayashi said during Nintendo’s latest Creator’s Voice video. “In this Hyrule Warriors game, you’ll see how the people of Hyrule contended with the threat of the original Ganondorf.”

Though the war is the focal point of the story, Age of Imprisonment will also offer a deeper look at Hyrule itself. “As a story that you can only fully experience here, it doesn’t just depict the battles of the Imprisoning War via a Warriors game. It also shows life in the kingdom of Hyrule after Princess Zelda is sent back in time,” Koei Tecmo producer Ryota Matsushita explained.

Moreover, the game will shed light on some mysterious characters from this time period. As previously confirmed, King Rauru and Mineru will both be playable characters, but Matsushita teases that players will “also get to know the four masked sages from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”

Like previous Warriors games, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a large-scale action game that pits players against hundreds of enemies at a time, with more appearing on the battlefield than before thanks to Switch 2’s added horsepower. “Nintendo Switch 2 has made it possible to include lots of enemies in our Warriors games,” Matsushita explained.

“At the same time, it was also important that you could play with higher frame rates than the Nintendo Switch system. We were able to achieve that with this game,” Hayashi added.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is slated to arrive “this winter,” while the Switch 2 itself will launch on June 5 for $450. Nintendo is also offering a limited-time Mario Kart World bundle for $500, but this will only be available through Fall 2025.

Gyruss – Exciting news as JOTD is working on another Arcade to Amiga port!


JOTD has certainly earned a positive reputation in the Amiga scene, as he is one of the few developers willing to go the extra mile, to convert/port over some pretty fine Arcade to Amiga titles. Moon Patrol, Donkey Kong, Super Bagman, Galaxian500 and Super Xevious are just some of the ones as the highlight on this website. Well it doesn’t look anything is going to stop this powerhouse of a developer from creating Arcade to Amiga conversions any time soon. As he has recently announced he is now working on Konami’s brilliant shooter of ‘GYRUSS’. A game that JOTD says is hopefully going to get it working nicely on the Amiga 500 and above.

And while there’s very little to talk about just yet, here’s what JOTD says about the project, which is still in a very early stage of development ( no sound in video ). “This is pretty complex to port as the arcade machine uses 2 processors and no source is available”.

– the Z80 is used as main cpu do to most things BUT…- the m6809 is used to project/fix/recompute the coordinates, which is that is providing the circular effect in Gyruss. Without it, the sprite placement is completely off. This 6809 to 68000 conversion is also the first one done with my 6809to68000 converter. Fortunately the code is small. Don’t ask me how the coordinate conversion works. I suppose they’re using stuff like cosine/sine tables in ROM, and there’s some multiplying involved too. Not sure about the FPS on a real machine, will probably need 25 FPS only but that’s cool.
