CRSED: Cuisine Royale is a battle royale from Darkflow Software / Matter Team and Gaijin Network Ltd, and now it’s unplayable on Linux / Steam Deck. Previously the game was known as CRSED: F.O.A.D.
Earlier in May, they updated their anti-cheat to BattlEye, whereas previously it used Easy Anti-Cheat. Both of which can be enabled to work on Linux platforms including SteamOS / Steam Deck. It seems in this case with the swap and the removal of the Native Linux build, the developer has decided not to enable BattlEye.
Our anti-cheat compatibility page was updated when the change happened.
In a post on Steam they said:
Dear players!
We’d like to inform you that CRSED: Cuisine Royale is no longer supported on the Linux operating system.
We apologize for any [inconvenience] and recommend switching to play on other available platforms.
Valve rated it Steam Deck Verified, so that will need to change soon.
Compared with the likes of Apex Legends removing support and GTA Online also shutting Linux out, this is not quite the same kind of loss considering CRSED: Cuisine Royale barely hits 208 players online each day. Still, it does only further highlight the ongoing anti-cheat problem for Linux gaming. One issue I truly hope Valve can solve now that SteamOS 3 has seen a wider release.
With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch later this year, there’s no better time than the present to play one of the very best games from Nintendo’s back catalog: Metroid Prime. Specifically, Metroid Prime Remastered, the superb modernization of the revolutionary GameCube classic. Metroid Prime Remastered is available for just $30 (was $40) at Walmart.
Walmart has offered this deal several times since February, and while it has sold out of copies on multiple occasions because of it, the retailer keeps bringing the deal back. Prior to Walmart’s first deal, Metroid Prime Remastered had been one of the notable Switch games that almost never received discounts. It took close to two years for the price to budge from $40. And it has only happened at Walmart. Prime Remastered remains $40 at Best Buy, Target, and GameStop. And Amazon, since it no longer carries Nintendo’s first-party games, doesn’t even have it in stock.
$30 (was $40)
Though it has “Remastered” in its name, the Nintendo Switch version feels more like a (faithful) remake of the brilliant first-person adventure game. Metroid Prime series developer Retro Studios implemented smart modernizations that improve the moment-to-moment gameplay while also enhancing the game’s unforgettable atmosphere.
The alien ruins and wilderness of Tallon IV were rebuilt with new models and high-resolution textures that align with the original art direction while enhancing the unforgettable atmosphere. And the remastered audio makes the minimalistic, haunting score even more immersive.
Metroid Prime series developer Retro Studios implemented smart modernizations to the control scheme to give players multiple options, including a standardized dual-stick layout found in most first-person shooter games. The original control scheme as well as a gyro-based mode similar to Metroid Prime Trilogy’s motion controls.
For newcomers, there’s a casual difficulty level that makes the adventure more approachable, but series veterans can still play on normal and unlock a harder difficulty for a second playthrough. Longtime fans will also appreciate the unlockable concept art as well as character art and soundtrack galleries.
While we still don’t know exactly when Metroid Prime 4 will arrive, we do know that fans will soon be able to distract themselves by flipping through the pages of an official Metroid Prime book.
Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective will be published June 24. This hardcover book includes commentary from Retro Studios developers as well as a wealth of artwork created during the development of the three numbered games as well as Metroid Prime Remastered. The foreword is written by Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe.
The book was created by the experienced team at Piggyback, the strategy guide publisher behind the official guidebooks for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is a clothbound hardcover with a foil-etched silhouette of Samus on the cover. You can preorder the 208-page book for $46.49 at Amazon.
Amazon is also taking preorders for an official Metroid Prime 2026 wall calendar, which also includes a 2025 planner, so you can make use of it before the new year rolls around.
While 2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for Metroid Prime, the entire series has been enjoying some well-earned attention over the last few years. The latest game in the mainline side-scrolling series, Metroid Dread, launched on Switch in 2021 as the first all-new side-scrolling entry in the series since 2002’s Metroid Fusion for GBA. You can couple it with the Metroid Dread Amiibo 2-Pack, which includes figures of Samus Aran and the E.M.M.I. robot, for $18 (was $30).
And if you still have a Nintendo 3DS, we’d highly recommend the superb remake of Metroid II. You can get a new copy of Metroid: Samus Returns for $41 at Amazon.
For more Metroid figures, check out these Amazon listings for official World of Nintendo action figures: This Metroid Prime 3 Samus figure is available for less than $25, and you could pair it with a Metroid (the creature) figure for $22. Lastly on the merch front, if you want to show off your love of Metroid, Amazon has budget-friendly Metroid apparel themed around popular entries in the series, including the original NES adventure and the wildly influential Super Metroid.
MindsEye, the GTA-ish, Cyberpunk-ish action game about fighting killer AI bots that also includes UGC systems that’ll let you create your own races and levels actually pulled those systems from the weird platform thingy it was originally planned to launch as part of.
That’s according to Leslie Benzies-helmed studio Build a Rocket Boy, which has confirmed to VGC that this is the case, but hasn’t indicated what it means for the future of that weird “community-driven gaming platform where you can build, remix, and play together in a vast connected world” – Everywhere.

The level and race-building systems included in MindsEye were a big part of its gameplay trailer the other day. Christened Build.MindsEye (the bit where you build stuff) and Play.MindsEye (the bit where you share stuff you’ve built so people can give it a go), it turns out these two bits comprise a creation suite dubbed Arcadia, which Build a Rocket Boy has now confirmed is the same creation suite developed for Everywhere.
“As with all new products, things evolve,” the studio said, “Arcadia was originally envisioned as our creation platform, but as we continued developing MindsEye and building out BARB’s ecosystem, it naturally grew into something more focused — Play.MindsEye and Build.MindsEye.”
It went on to re-iterate that those two creatory bits go alongside MindsEye’s campaign to form “three seamlessly interconnected experiences”, adding: “For BARB to fully realize our vision, we had to beta test our creation system with a community of builders in real-time and started with Everywhere while we were in stealth mode developing MindsEye.”
Ok, cool. What does that mean for Everywhere, the website link of which VGC points out now redirects you to MindsEye’s website? Well, the studio hasn’t said. VG247 has reached out to Build a Rocket Boy for comment on that.
So, to recap as I understand it, prior to becoming a standalone game punlished by IO Interactive, MindsEye was originally set to be launched as a part of weird platform thingy Everywhere. Now, it turns out some bits of Everywhere are part of MindsEye, and it’s not clear whether Everywhere is going somewhere. Easy.
In other MindsEye-related news, Build A Rocket Boy’s co-ceo seemingly suggested on Discord the other day that he thinks there might be some kind of co-ordinated campaign to make people think it’s crap.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s bosses can be a real struggle, even working alongside two other teammates. Solo, however, they’re downright brutal. While the game allows fans to play offline by themselves, it’s an experience best left to only the most hardcore Soulslike sickos. Will FromSoftware address that in a day-one update? The predictably opaque patch notes don’t say.
The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History
Bandai Namco revealed a day-one patch for the multiplayer roguelite RPG— arriving May 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—and the update apparently addresses character handling, bug fixes, and game balance. But what precise changes were made? The publisher doesn’t say. Here are the full patch notes:
Improved handling of playable characters
Soundtrack addition and adjustmentsText adjustmentsBalance adjustmentsAdded character scenariosBug fixes
Neat! But what does it mean?! Early reviews, including my own impressions of Elden Ring Nightreign after 10 hours with the game, paint a picture of FromSoftware’s latest spin-off being a messy but intriguing experiment in old-school (read: hostile) game design, built on modern twists (randomized loot, a closing battle royale circle of death). Throwing yourself against that brick wall as a group can be fun, suffering the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of great FromSoftware bosses together.
But some of the pain points and uneven friction are a lot harder to negotiate when just playing by yourself. From simple things like enemy aggro, to more intricate nuisances like loot RNG and grinding a run just to discover your never got the weapon-type to exploit a Nightlord’s weakness, is even more frustrating solo with no friends to help bail you out. While there are some early players who have seemingly cleared the game in single-player, I can confidently say that’s not a viable option for most of the 30 million people who bought the original Elden Ring.
Does that matter? Maybe not! But it would be nice to know if it’s something FromSoftware is looking to tweak in the day-one patch, or whether it intends to maintain it as a cornerstone of the experience, with the extra challenge of solo play pushing more people toward multiplayer matchmaking. Director Junya Ishizaki said earlier this week he was all “nerves and excitement” approaching the game’s launch, but that the team is “continually tweaking and balancing the game.” We’ll see what that amounts to in practice when Nightreign goes live, starting at 6:00 p.m. ET May 29 for players on PC, then midnight on console.

Things are going from bad to worse for the people employed by EA. Cliffhanger Games has just been shut down and their Black Panther game cancelled, but if that wasn’t bad enough, an insider is reporting that Codemaster’s main headquarters is also going to be closed.
The source of this news is eXtas1s, an insider with a decent track record when it comes to Xbox. Outside of that, his record is spottier, so I strongly suggest grabbing a handful of salt.
— eXtas1s 🎮 Noticias & Rumores (@eXtas1stv) May 28, 2025
According to eXtas1s, he has learned that around 400 more layoffs will hit EA. This will include “the complete closure of Codemasters’ main headquarters”. Codemasters suffered a massive blow recently when EA announced that they would no longer be making rally games, opting to give up the official WRC license. With this license and their other franchises like DiRT on ice, this left Codemasters with just the annual F1 games.
eXtas1s goes on to say that Codemasters main headquarters will be shut down and that the staff there “will be merged into EA Sports (F1) and a new Need for Speed that is already in development. Whether this means Codemasters will be formally shuttered or are being moved to a much smaller location remains to be seen.
EA paid a 1.2 billion dollars for Codemasters back in 2021.
It’s time to throw the ancient rules of chess out the window as Black Pieces Move First comes to Xbox and Play Anywhere.
Running as an innovative and captivating puzzle game, Black Pieces Move First has made its rebellious move onto Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Developed by Enchant Games, helped along by Lucky Raccoon Games, this unique title challenges everything you thought you knew about the checkered board for just £5.79.
This isn’t your standard game of chess; it’s a story of defiance and a clever twist on classic mechanics, all wrapped up with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
The Pawn’s Rebellion: A New Chess Order
The premise is delightfully subversive: a humble black pawn decides it’s had enough of white pieces always getting the first turn. This audacious challenge doesn’t sit well with the white pieces, and the result? War on the chessboard!
You take control of this courageous (or perhaps foolish?) black pawn. But this is no ordinary foot soldier; it has the movement capabilities of a king and, crucially, the power to push other black pieces, commanding them to attack on your orders.
Your goal across 60 increasingly difficult levels is to use logical thinking, agility, and creativity to find solutions and achieve each stage’s objective.
Commanding the Uprising
Black Pieces Move First uses the familiar rules of movement, defense, and attack from classical chess but turns them on their head with its unique premise:
Lead the Charge: As the special black pawn, you’ll navigate various chessboards, strategically positioning yourself and your fellow black pieces.
Puzzle Solving: Each of the 60 levels presents a unique puzzle, requiring you to figure out how to utilize your pawn’s abilities and command your other pieces to overcome the white opposition or achieve specific goals.
Story Mode & Progression: Beyond the core puzzles, there’s a Story Mode featuring a world map to explore, collectibles to find, and an item shop where you can spend gathered money on upgrades to aid your rebellion.
Not Your Grandmaster’s Chess Game
While the Xbox is home to some excellent chess experiences, from the feudal Japanese take in Chess Knights: Shinobi to the varied puzzle challenges of Chessarama and the straightforward Chess Infinity, Black Pieces Move First offers something entirely different. It uses the language of chess to create a captivating puzzle adventure about rebellion and thinking outside the 64 squares.
Seamless Strategy with Xbox Play Anywhere
Adding fantastic value, Black Pieces Move First supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Purchase the game digitally once via the Xbox Store for that low launch price, and you automatically own it on both your Xbox console (One or Series X|S) and your Windows PC.
Your progress, achievements, and any unlocked upgrades will sync seamlessly between platforms.
Key Features
Innovative Chess-Based Puzzles: Control a black pawn with king-like movement and command other black pieces.
Rebellious Story Mode: Lead a pawn’s uprising against the first-move tradition, complete with a world map, collectibles, and an upgrade shop.
60 Progressively Difficult Levels: Test your logic, agility, and creativity.
Classic Chess Rules with a Twist: Utilise familiar movement and attack patterns in new puzzle scenarios
Will you Lead the Pawn Revolution?
Black Pieces Move First offers a truly unique and thought-provoking puzzle experience for fans of chess, strategy, and games that dare to be different.
If you’re ready to challenge the established order and lead a pawn to glory, it’s available right now on the Xbox Store (for Xbox and PC via Play Anywhere) starting from just £5.79.
Your move!
Black Pieces Move First Description
A humble black pawn decided to challenge the first rule of chess. The white pieces were not happy about this at all. The result? War.
Up the Hill is the new guide/discovery quest in Palia. Nai’o gives this quest after helping him locate all the stables in the Elderwood. It is time to finally set up a proper Stables network in Elderwood by placing the Stables Board in your plot area. This guide will walk you through the Up the Hill quest in Palia.
How to Complete the Up The Hill Quest in Palia
Starting the Quest
Players can initiate the Up the Hill quest by speaking with Nai’o at the Central Stables after completing the Through the Woods quest. If you haven’t completed the Through the Woods quest, make sure to complete it first, otherwise, the Up the Hill quest will not trigger. Once done, speak with Nai’o and go through the dialogues to get your instructions on placing the Stables Board.
Gather the Materials
Upon speaking with Nai’o, you will have to gather the following materials.
30x Ancient Wood Plank
7x Whitestone Slab
Both of these materials are craftable, and you must get their respective recipes in order to craft them. However, first of all, it is best to get the resources for these craftable materials.
Gather the Ancient Wood by cutting the Ancient Trees in the Elderwood map zone. Forage at least 30 Ancient Wood.
Gather the Whitestone by mining the Whitestone nodes in the Elderwood map zone. Mine at least 14 Whitestone.
Now, it is time to acquire their recipes. Go to Ashura and open his guild store to purchase the Ancient Wood Plank recipe for 500 Gold. After that, go to Hodari and open his guild store to purchase the Whitestone Slab recipe for 300 Gold.
Upon getting the recipes, go to the Housing Plot and make the Planks at the Sawmill and the Slabs at the Smelter. The Ancient Wood Plank requires 1x Ancient Wood and crafts in 30 seconds (Basic Sawmill). The Whitestone Slab requires 2x Whitestone and crafts in 4 minutes (Basic Smelter).
Make sure to add the corresponding number of resources to both stations to craft the required amount of materials. Wait for the materials to craft, and then collect them from the respective stations.
Craft a Stables Board
Now, head to the Worktable and search the Stables Sign to find the recipe for Stables Board. Select the recipe and make it once. Once done, go into the building mode and place the Stables Sign anywhere in your Housing Plot.
Talk to Nai’o on your plot
After placing the Stables Board at your Housing Plot, Nai’o will visit you. Go to the front of the plot to meet with Nai’o. Go through the dialogues, and the Up the Hill quest will conclude.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a clunky beast, and I love it for it. Despite its less accessible approach, the now 24-year-old RPG is still receiving major mods including Star Wars KOTOR total conversions and the ever-updated Tamriel Rebuilt.
A massive mod project, the Tamriel Rebuilt mod adds the mainland of the Morrowind Province to the game alongside the original island of Vvardenfell. With it’s own quests, characters, items, enemies and more, the project is intense, but what if Bethesda decides to release an official remake of the original game?
Morrowind modders aren’t concerned about a potential remake
Speaking to PC Gamer ahead of the release of the Tamriel Rebuilt Grasping Fortune expansion, the Tamriel Rebuilt team explained that there’s pretty much no sense in making an official remake of the third major Elder Scrolls game.
While Bethesda released an official remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to massive success, the team can’t see a reason for the studio to do the same with the series’ older games. Sure, it would bring in a tonne of money, but it would also ruin the charm of the older RPG.
“I’m always happy to hear when Todd [Howard] says he doesn’t want a Morrowind Remaster,” explained senior developer Cicero, “because that would just mess things up… Modernising Morrowind would just ruin the game entirely.”
Tamriel Rebuilt has been in some form of development since Morrowind’s release in 2001, and the volunteer-based team is still working hard on the massive mod. While Skyblivion—the remake of Oblivion made in Skyrim’s engine—is releasing in full later very soon, but the team behind the older mod doesn’t expect to be done for many more years with Cicero thinking they’ll “be done in 2035”.
“I really feel that we can complete all of mainland Morrowind, maybe even this decade,” explained the mod’s creature animator. “We’ve got a lot of momentum. Just depends on how much time is devoted to improving what has already been made vs implementing new regions.”
The long in-development time for Tamriel Rebuilt is a sign of the unending commitment of the series’ fans. With fans even creating an open-source engine remake of The Elder Scrolls: Arena, Bethesda’s RPG franchise will never die.
