When people think about artificial intelligence, they think about chatbots and large language models. Yet it’s easy to overlook that AI is becoming increasingly integrated with critical sectors in society.
These systems don’t just recommend what to watch or buy anymore; they also diagnose illness, approve loans, detect fraud, and target threats.
As AI becomes more embedded into our everyday lives, we need to ensure it acts in our best interest. We need to make sure its outputs are provable.
Most AI systems operate in a black box, where we often have no way of knowing how they arrive at a decision or whether they’re acting as intended.
It’s a lack of transparency that’s baked into how they work and makes it nearly impossible to audit or question AI decisions after the fact.
For certain applications, this is good enough. But in high-stakes sectors like healthcare, finance, and law enforcement, this opacity poses serious risks.
AI models may unknowingly encode bias, manipulate outcomes, or behave in ways that conflict with legal or ethical norms. Without a verifiable trail, users are left guessing whether a decision was fair, valid, or even safe.
These concerns become existential when coupled with the fact that AI capabilities continue to grow exponentially.
There is a broad consensus in the field that developing an Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) is inevitable.
Sooner or later, we will have an AI that surpasses human intelligence across all domains, from scientific reasoning to strategic planning, to creativity, and even emotional intelligence.
Questioning rapid advances
LLMs are already showing rapid gains in generalization and task autonomy.
If a superintelligent system acts in ways humans can’t predict or understand, how do we ensure it aligns with our values? What happens if it interprets a command differently or pursues a goal with unintended consequences? What happens if it goes rogue?
Scenarios where such a thing could threaten humanity are apparent even to AI advocates.
Geoffrey Hinton, a pioneer of deep learning, warns of AI systems capable of civilization-level cyberattacks or mass manipulation. Biosecurity experts fear AI-augmented labs could develop pathogens beyond human control.
And Anduril founder Palmer Luckey has claimed that its Lattice AI system can jam, hack, or spoof military targets in seconds, making autonomous warfare an imminent reality.With so many possible scenarios, how will we ensure that an ASI doesn’t wipe us all out?
The imperative for transparent AI
The short answer to all of these questions is verifiability.
Relying on promises from opaque models is no longer acceptable for their integration into critical infrastructure, much less at the scale of ASI. We need guarantees. We need proof.
There’s a growing consensus in policy and research communities that technical transparency measures are needed for AI.
Regulatory discussions often mention audit trails for AI decisions. For example, the US NIST and EU AI Act have highlighted the importance of AI systems being “traceable” and “understandable.”
Luckily, AI research and development doesn’t happen in a vacuum. There have been important breakthroughs in other fields like advanced cryptography that can be applied to AI and make sure we keep today’s systems—and eventually an ASI system—in check and aligned with human interests.
The most relevant of these right now is zero-knowledge proofs. ZKPs offer a novel way to achieve traceability that is immediately applicable to AI systems.
In fact, ZKPs can embed this traceability into AI models from the ground up. More than just logging what an AI did, which could be tampered with, they can generate an immutable proof of what happened.Using zkML libraries, specifically, we can combine zero-knowledge proofs and machine learning that verify all the computations produced on these models.
In concrete terms, we can use zkML libraries to verify that an AI model was used correctly, that it ran the expected computations, and that its output followed specified logic—all without exposing internal model weights or sensitive data.
The black box
This effectively takes AI out of a black box and lets us know exactly where it stands and how it got there. More importantly, it keeps humans in the loop.
AI development needs to be open, decentralized, and verifiable, and zkML needs to achieve this.
This needs to happen today to maintain control over AI tomorrow. We need to make sure that human interests are protected from day one by being able to guarantee that AI is operating as we expect it to before it becomes autonomous.
ZkML isn’t just about stopping malicious ASI, however.
In the short term, it’s about ensuring that we can trust AI with the automation of sensitive processes like loans, diagnoses, and policing because we have proof that it operates transparently and equitably.
ZkML libraries can give us reasons to trust AI if they’re used at scale.
As helpful as having more powerful models may be, the next step in AI development is to guarantee that they’re learning and evolving correctly.
The widespread use of effective and scalable zkML will soon be a crucial component in the AI race and the eventual creation of an ASI.
The path to Artificial Superintelligence cannot be paved with guesswork. As AI systems become more capable and integrated into critical domains, proving what they do—and how they do it—will be essential.
Verifiability must move from a research concept to a design principle. With tools like zkML, we now have a viable path to embed transparency, security, and accountability into the foundations of AI.
The question is no longer whether we can prove what AI does, but whether we choose to.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 deserves all the praise and recognition it’s been getting from the industry and players alike. Everything the game presents is a breath of fresh air, and the moment I finished it, it became one of my favorite JRPGs of all time.
A lot of that comes from the visual presentation and cinematography, with a script worthy of the most premium entertainment out there. It also features new takes on the staple turn-based combat JRPGs are known for.

I do have, however, an argument that the strongest suit of Expedition 33 doesn’t lie only in the execution of its battle system, but rather in how we can customize and build each character uniquely. A lot of that depends on the Pictos and Luminas equipped, but also on the weapons.
Each weapon has remarkable effects, directly influencing the many different builds for each character. In this list, I want to highlight the best weapons for Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and how the Ben Starr-voiced character can take full advantage of them to become a menace to all Nevrons out there.

to apply Mark on enemies. But what if you’re building AP to unleash those nasty high-cost skills? Base attack is the way to go. At level 20, every Mark applied will also apply Powerless to the enemy, which is super helpful.
Also, Tireso is a hammer. Who doesn’t love knocking your enemies to death while fixing that wooden table back at camp? No better way to increase your relationship level with party members.

If You Suck At Parrying

Abysseram
is a weapon for those who suck at parrying in Expedition 33. At first, its effect sounds counterintuitive, since it only benefits you when you’re at Rank D, the lowest with Verso.
But then, if you check the other passives, you realize this weapon is for those who want to build a Tank Verso that takes hits head-on. That’s because every time Verso gets hit, he loses Perfection and his rank drops. Well, that’s not a problem. It’s on Rank D, where you’re the strongest with Abysseram.
This weapon even scales with Vitality and Defense, again pushing you toward a bulkier build. The last effect heals you by 20% on Base Attack at Rank D, so you’ll want to avoid dodging or parrying, because that which doesn’t kill Verso makes him healthier.

On the other hand, if you’re a menace at parrying, the Lanceram
is your weapon of choice. With it, your Rank can’t go lower than C, meaning you start battles with Verso on Rank C. The second passive effect is mid, though.
The best effect is the one at level 20, where each parry gives double Perfection. If you parry a 3-or-more hit enemy combo, your Rank level will soar, and you’ll hit that A or S in no time. And even if you miss some parries, that’s okay, you can’t go lower than Rank C.

As I approached the endgame, I realized my usual strategies weren’t cutting it anymore, and enemies were dropping me fast. That is, until I discovered the power of Maelle’s Stendhal.
I started testing new builds, and one of them was a Burn-oriented setup involving the whole party. With Verso, Maelle, and Lune in the party, I used any and every skill that applied Burn to the enemies, including weapons.
Verso’s Corpeso
is perfect for that. Every Base Attack applied more Burn, increasing the tick damage of the DoT already laid by others. On top of that, the higher the Rank, the more Burn damage. Needless to say, the Nevrons’ Gommage was dragging them straight down to hell.

We get the Dualiso
after defeating the Dualliste, the first main boss we face after Verso joins the party. Don’t let this weapon’s low power fool you, because the real benefit lies in its effects.
Before you get the Cheater Picto, Dualiso is a weapon that will let you act twice every turn with Verso. Its base effect at level 4 enables you to act twofold as long as your first move is a Base Attack.
I immediately built a setup focused on Base Attacks with Verso when this weapon dropped. I equipped Pictos like Attack Lifesteal
, Augmented Attack
, Combo Attack I
, and anything else that boosted Base Attack. I didn’t even need to use skills with Verso anymore; just Base Attack alone was enough to wreak havoc.

For Those Who Prefer FPS Games

One of the things that surprised me most in Expedition 33 was seeing a player take down superbosses using a Free Aim build. I knew the potential of Free Aim and took advantage of shots to apply Mark on enemies. But taking down superbosses like it’s Call of Duty? Come on.
And that’s possible with weapons like the Nosaram
. Every shot with it deals more damage, gives you more Perfection, and even removes those pesky shields from cowardly Nevrons. Pair this weapon with Augmented Aim
, Breaking Shots
, Burning Shots
, and any Picto with “Shots” in the name, and now you’re bringing a gun to a sword fight.
Granted, it’s not the most fun you’ll ever have, but hey, it works, so there’s that. You’ve got to praise a game that knows how to bolster every one of its gameplay systems, no matter how unorthodox they seem at first.

At first, Sakaram
seems like an oddity. If Verso’s whole mechanic lies in his Perfection and Ranks, what’s the use of a weapon that avoids losing Perfection but gives no bonus damage on Ranks? Well, my dear Expeditioner, that’s because of skills like Perfect Break
and Phantom Stars
.
The higher your Rank, the lower the cost of those skills. So, even if you don’t get bonus damage, you’ll be able to fire off those high-cost skills frequently, making up for the lack of extra power.
On top of that, Sakaram scales with Agility and Luck, which means more turns and higher crit chance. You won’t need the extra Rank damage when your basic hits are already wreaking havoc on the Paintress’ canvas.

You know which skill benefits immensely at Rank S? Phantom Stars. This extreme Light damage to all enemies costs just 5 AP at Rank S. Now throw in every Energising Start I
Picto you can find, and Verso opens battles casting Phantom Stars from the get-go.
There wasn’t a single fodder enemy surviving that initial onslaught. And if, by any chance, some Nevron were still alive to tell the tale, I still had two other party members waiting to land the final blow.

was the weapon I used to face all of Expedition 33’s superbosses before getting Simoso. Unlocking its level 10 passive is super easy, but pair it with the level 20 one, and every attack from Verso will hit twice.
Since I wasn’t the best player when it came to parrying, I played it safe, using dodge and slowly breaking bosses to reach Rank S in one go. Once I hit Rank S, it was massive damage one after another.
Since my critical hits were guaranteed at 100%, I didn’t need to raise Luck with Verso, especially because the weapon doesn’t even scale with it. With a mix of Agility and Strength, no enemy could withstand his Light-aspected skills once Verso hit Rank S.

Simoso
The Best Weapon In The Game

As is tradition in many JRPGs, you get the best weapon or gear after defeating the strongest boss. It’s a statement of your prowess, even if there are no lingering challenges to put that gear to use.
In the case of Expedition 33, the strongest weapon in the game is Simoso
, earned after defeating the superboss Simon. With it, every Skill attack from Verso hits twice, mimicking the fight against Simon and his lightning-fast sword strikes.
On top of that, if you can keep Verso’s Rank at A, the man becomes immortal (gameplay-wise), thanks to Simoso’s level 20 passive. Since it already comes at level 33, the highest for any weapon, you can be sure all its effects are active. Use a Steeled Strike
with Simoso equipped, and you’ll see just why Simon was so keen on hitting us repeatedly.

Jesy Nelson has announced the birth of her twins with a sweet post on Instagram.
The singer had been in hospital since late March after being diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). This is a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk.
And on Sunday (May 18), Jesy confirmed she had welcomed her twins – three days after giving birth.

In an emotional post on Instagram, Jesy shared adorable snaps of her babies being cuddled by herself and partner Zion.
“So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days,” Jesy said in the caption.
She added: “It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love.
“Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.”
Fans thrilled as Jesy welcomes twins into the world
Jesy’s sans soon took to the comments section to send their congratulations.
One person said: “Congratulations, so happy for you both, beautiful names.”
Someone else gushed: “Congrats momma!! Wishing you & Zion the best of health for your babies.”

Jesy’s difficult pregnancy
It hasn’t been an easy pregnancy for Jesy.
Back in March, the star revealed that there had been some complications with her pregnancy. The star explained that she was at pre-stage twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
“The type of twins we are having are called mono/di twins and so normally most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of,” she said in an Instagram video at the time.
“But you have mono/di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta which can lead to lots of complications – one of them being one baby might take all the nutrients which, and it’s really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying,” she said.
A few days later, the star revealed that she was going to have undergo surgery to save her babies’ lives.
“I’ve been feeling a bit poorly the past few days, been having a few symptoms that I need to watch out for which is like my belly tightening, struggle breathing. So today we came into the hospital to have a check up basically, just in case. Unfortunately, the symptoms have got worse so they now have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen,” she then said.
Good news for Jesy
Jesy then continued at the time. “But it’s necessary because it’s going to give our babies the best chance of surviving.”
Thankfully, in an update later that month, Jesy announced that the surgery had been a success.
“I have been recovering. But we have some amazing news. The TTTS has cleared up. The operation was a success, which is just absolutely incredible. We are so lucky to have the most amazing doctors,” she gushed.

Jason and Kylie Kelce confirmed in an adorable video that their 2-year-old daughter Bennett has made up with Philadelphia Eagles mascot Swoop after a shaky first meeting.
Jason, 37, brought Bennett along to the Eagles Autism Challenge at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, May 17 — and her visit definitely went better than last year. The Eagles shared footage via X of Bennett waiting patiently for her turn to meet Swoop and then waving hello to the mascot.
“Bennett Kelce’s second meeting with Swoop went a lot better than last time,” the Eagles wrote via X, adding optimistically: “They’ll be besties in no time!”
At last year’s Eagles Autism Challenge, Bennett seemed a bit more apprehensive when she was introduced to Swoop. Jason tried to lift his daughter’s spirits by bouncing her around and even gave Swoop a high five of his own, but Bennett was still a little shy around the mascot.

The six-time All Pro athlete also broached the subject of whether he’d allow his four daughters to date NFL players once they get older.
“I’ll let ’em date whoever they want,” he said, “It’s hard to restrict dating. I’ve been asked this question before, I guess on the podcast [“New Heights”], and my thing is you try and raise them with as much critical thinking ability and try and instill the values that you think are important. Diddy’s federal trial kicked off earlier this week … and, Cassie took the stand for several days of testimony — reading dozens of text messages during proceedings.
Those texts — which appeared across 162 pages of legal documents — have now been entered as public evidence exhibits … and, we’ve compiled some of the most shocking for you to peruse.
While many of the texts appear innocuous — the two checking in on each other, saying they love or miss the other person, etc. — some are more sordid … with Cassie admitting there were “a lot of d***s, a lot of partying” at one particular gathering.
Diddy says he’s going to “eat that p***y” in one message … and also tells her he wants to talk with her about a new fantasy of his.
Cassie responded to some of Diddy’s messages with some graphic descriptions of sex acts as well.
Among those that went viral during proceedings … Cassie telling Diddy she couldn’t wait to “feel some d*** tease my p***y raw” and saying she imagined a specific way of performing fellatio.
Some of the messages aren’t sexual in nature … instead speaking to disagreements the couple had — with Cassie accusing Diddy of treating her like a “sidepiece” and Diddy saying to reach out when Cassie got “[herself] together.”

One good step to do early in life is to make friends while you’re going through school. You can do this via the School menu and picking one of your classmates. Once you strike up some positive combinations, you should have a friend for life. Be sure to hit up the Relationships tab to keep them as a friend, since you’ll need them later. Scroll all the way down and find the Spend Time With… option to spend time with all your accrued friends at once. You’ll need this for later.
