Days Before Election, Bitcoin Hovers Near All-Time High

Days Before Election, Bitcoin Hovers Near All-Time High

Bitcoin surged over 8% this week, coming within just a few dollars of its all-time high on Tuesday. The digital currency briefly pushed past $73,000 before leveling out on Wednesday. This price movement arrives as the crypto market reacts to the U.S. election climate, where many speculate a potential win for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Bitcoin’s October upward trajectory, which crypto traders call “Uptober” due to its historically excellent performance, is boosted by this price growth.

According to crypto fans, Bitcoin could reach a record high in the coming days as Election Day approaches. After initially increasing by over $2,000 in a few short hours, there were minor swings among $71,000 and $73,000. In October alone, Bitcoin has risen 12%, proving that it can endure and establishing itself as a noteworthy performer for the month.

In addition to Bitcoin’s remarkable performance, the entire crypto market is expanding at a comparable rate. As they both ride the same wave of enthusiasm, Ethereum and Solana saw increases of 4% and 5%, respectively. Notably, this week saw a stunning 23% increase in Dogecoin, a parody coin commonly linked to Elon Musk. Musk’s endorsement of Dogecoin at several Trump rallies corresponds with this surge, which raises the coin’s profile and appeal even further.

There were large inflows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) once the price of Bitcoin increased. Despite the pre-election volatility, these ETFs invested $870 million, the third-highest amount since they were approved in January. This pattern shows that investors believe Bitcoin is a valuable asset, especially in hard times. The introduction of Bitcoin ETFs in March caused a comparable surge, which contributed to Bitcoin reaching its most recent record high of about $73,000.

Trump’s Lead Boosts Polymarket Predictions

As the election draws closer, Trump is seeing a lead over Vice President Harris on Polymarket, a crypto prediction platform. Trump currently has a 67% likelihood of winning, according to polymarket users, even though standard surveys show the two candidates tied. Recent studies indicate that part of the activity on Polymarket may be inflated by fraudulent accounts, adding to the uncertainty surrounding these estimates.

Source: Polymarket

In an attempt to sway voters who are still on the fence, both candidates are increasing their efforts in the last days of the campaign. Trump in particular has positioned himself as a proponent of Bitcoin. He promised at a recent rally to turn the United States into “the crypto capital of the planet.” He has spoken at the Bitcoin conference in Nashville, announced a new crypto venture, and pledged to fire SEC chair Gary Gensler—a move that has resonated with many in the crypto industry.

Elon Musk has joined Trump at several events, promoting Dogecoin and even referencing a potential role in Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency, humorously abbreviated as D.O.G.E. This playful nod to Dogecoin has drawn positive attention from crypto enthusiasts, strengthening Musk’s ongoing influence within the crypto world and bolstering Trump’s appeal to pro-crypto voters.

In contrast to Trump, Vice President Harris has taken a more cautious approach to crypto. While her stance aligns with a tempered pro-crypto position similar to President Biden’s, her policies have not generated the same enthusiasm within the crypto community. Some analysts speculate that a Harris victory might lead to a drop in Bitcoin’s value. Despite these concerns, Michael Terpin, CEO of Transform Ventures, believes Bitcoin’s growth will persist regardless of the election outcome.

According to Terpin, Bitcoin is currently in a cycle where its value traditionally increases. He believes there is enough momentum to keep pushing Bitcoin upward. However, he added that Trump’s win could accelerate this growth, potentially driving Bitcoin to even greater heights faster than expected. As the election nears, the crypto market is watching closely, anticipating the impact of political outcomes on the sector’s future.

Megan Thee Stallion Files Suit Against Influencer Over Deepfake Harassment – Decrypt

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion sued Milagro Gramz on Tuesday, alleging the Texas-based internet personality defamed her following a separate court case with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez.

Born Megan Pete, the rapper alleges Gramz (Milagro Cooper) stalked her online, causing emotional distress and spreading AI-generated deepfake pornography featuring her likeness.

In court documents filed in the Southern District Court of Florida, Pete’s attorneys acknowledged that while it’s unknown who created the deepfake video, they argue Cooper published a video on YouTube that addressed an X post related to the explicit content.

“The lengths to which Defendant Cooper goes to harass Ms. Pete knows no bounds, attorneys for Pete wrote. “In June 2024, Defendant Cooper encouraged her 27,000 X followers to view an X post by Bimbella that shared a doctored, artificially created video of Ms. Pete purportedly engaged in sexual acts without Ms. Pete’s knowledge or consent.”

It’s the latest development in the ongoing feud between Lanez and Pete, which began in 2020 when Lanez was charged with shooting Pete in the feet during an altercation in Los Angeles.

Lanez was convicted on three felony counts, including assault with a semiautomatic handgun, according to a report by the New York Times.

The complaint further asserts that Cooper’s alleged harassment was at the behest of Lanez (born Daystar Peterson) and accused Cooper of running an “online rumor mill” that spread false claims about Pete, including questioning the rapper’s mental state and having a “severe drinking problem.”

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Cooper said she was informed of the lawsuit by Pete’s attorney, Alex Spiro. “Of course, we’ll chat about it,” she wrote. “They threw in the tape, too.” Cooper did not say if she intends to counter-sue.

Attorneys for Pete are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, legal fees, and a court order to prevent future harassment by Cooper.

Pete’s lawsuit is the most recent concerning AI-generated deepfakes of high-profile artists.

Last year, actress Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against image generator Lisa AI, which posted a deepfake of Johansson promoting the platform.

In May, Johansson, who starred as the voice of the AI Samantha in the 2013 film “Her,” took legal action against ChatGPT creator OpenAI after it released a voice-enabled version of the chatbot that sounded eerily similar to the actress.

Representatives for both Cooper and Pete did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.

5 Reasons To Stay At Andaz Prague

5 Reasons To Stay At Andaz Prague

As the first Andaz hotel (and also the first World of Hyatt property) in the Czech Republic, the laid-back luxury of Andaz Prague has quickly become a favorite of travelers. Located in the historic Sugar Palace, its historic interiors tell a lot of stories. It was once the main office of the sugar trade in town (did you know the sugar cube was invented here?). It then served as a government office for nutrition during the Communist years, and later a bank.

These days, the interiors are filled with colorful art and mythical legend allusions that give the entire building a museum-like air. Every few steps leads to questions or conversations, usually solved via a quick QR scan thanks to the hotel’s excellent focus on art and design. No matter your reason for visiting the city, these are the top five reasons to stay at the Andaz Prague.

The art and design

The entire essence of this hotel is built around the mystery and myth of so many Czech legends. White it may not seem obvious it first, pick up a book from reception (it’s a beautiful paperback of almost 50 pages that you can take home) with details on all of the historic stories that created the art here.

As soon as you enter, the exuberant light wakes you up to something fresh and new, and I loved that, even after arriving late in the evening. I immediately drew attention to the colorful art and historic pieces that lined the walls. The book details how everything throughout the hotel is based on legends and historic tales from the region’s past.

Moving through the building, you can quickly notice the ornate moldings, tall windows and door frames, which were reconstructed or upgraded to their original style.

The cuisine

The main restaurant handles three meals a day with glorious views of the neighboring architecture and constant passersby on the sidewalk. I started the day with a lovely breakfast featuring Czech and international cheeses, pastries, breads and veggies. I really loved the a la carte breakfast with Turkish eggs, which was more of a Middle Eastern offering with poached eggs, labneh with sumac and fresh veggies.

The other menu dishes varied between international and a few regional options, which the culinary team calls Czech “bistronomy.” I really loved the creativity in the presentation and delivery. During the week, local business people pop in for an executive lunch. At nearby MEZ bar, guests and locals visit from morning to night enjoying coffee or afternoon tea, evening cocktails and light bites. During the warmer months, the cafe spills out onto the terrace.

The rooms

I love how the mythical Czech theme continues from the elevator through the hallways to the guest rooms. Hardwood floors with area rugs are home to wide king or paired queen beds with very soft pillows. Bedside power outlets are a plus.

What I really liked are the fun and quirky touches that continued the legend theme of the design, like the clutched hands that hold back the drapes and the characters that dangle from atop the mirrors or underneath the lamps.

The lion’s head that prowls over your pillow refers to the two‐tailed lion that fought the nine‐headed dragon. It now protects guests as you sleep, and there’s an extra night watch if you know where to look. On either side of the night stand, the foot stools of the table have one lion’s paw on either side. You won’t notice it unless you look.

Other fun features include some of the plumpy men climbing down the mirrors over the vanity (another story from the book at reception) and the brass bar exteriors to each guest room, part of the original bank tellar windows from years ago.

The suites are elaborate with spacious living rooms, marble-walled bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and large windows, and modern furnishings. The winter garden suites have glamorous French doors that open to hexagon-shaped seating areas that double as dining or work spaces. With the history of the building, many of the rooms sport different design layouts.

The bonuses

Andaz may be a luxury brand, but it does not skimp on special perks for all members, and not just elite status members in the top tier. Everyone is invited to the Andaz hour, a brand standard evening experience where guests can immerse themselves in a fun and local moment. Here, the hotel puts its regional immersion on full display.

The hotel hired a local parfumier to design several bespoke fragrances for the hotel. These are diffused in public areas, but during the Andaz hour, guests can interact with the bartender to curate their preferred drink using one of these scents. At the end of the experience, guests leave learning a new cocktail recipe and can taste their own drink.

Another perk for guests is the complimentary minibar in all rooms, which includes local juices and lemonades plus still and sparkling water. My favorite inclusion is the chocolate pretzel mix, a local brand that also includes other flavors in the portfolio.

Be sure to share with the hotel that you are traveling with kids. The staff has a lot of special extras that they can offer from special snacks or even exciting in-room surprises.

The points

World of Hyatt is the little loyalty program that could (and does). Despite its size, it punches above its weight when it comes to benefits and perks. This allows it to compete with bigger competitors like Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors.

During your stay, you can earn points for your room rate. You also earn points for room charges including food, drinks and spa services. Of course, the well-equipped fitness center is free for all guests to use.

If you have elite status with Hyatt, you earn bonus points and late checkout privileges. Top-tier Globalist status includes complimentary breakfast for two (and quite substantial here). Andaz Prague is one of nearly 30 Andaz properties open around the world. There are about 20 more on the way. Andaz is one of Hyatt’s most design-rich and exciting brands. The historic Prague property should be one of the first you visit.

Gisele Bündchen’s Pregnancy Allegedly Unforeseen To Tom Brady

Former NFL star Tom Brady is reportedly reeling from the surprise news of his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen’s, pregnancy with her beau, Joaquim Valente.

Yesterday it was reported that the retired 47-year-old NFL star was allegedly feeling “stung” about the news of his supermodel ex’s pregnancy -her third child- with her ju-jitsu instructor boyfriend. Details of the former New England Patriot’s emotional state are beginning to be revealed to the public.

Bündchen, 44, is facing the blissful days of early pregnancy and is committed to planning the life she’ll live with her new man and their first child together. The supermodel and her man are “looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family,” per a report from People.

“The whole family” also includes the two children she shares with the former NFL titan.

The vibes in the Bündchen-Valente house are reportedly nothing but pure happiness, as the kiddos are said to be fond of their mother’s new partner.

A source told Us Weekly that the kids, Benjamin and Vivian, “really like” Valentine. The kiddos have also gotten the chance to enjoy his ju-jitsu training as well, per the outlet. Benjamin, 14, and 11-year-old Vivian presumably get to spend lots of time with Valente as he has made Bündchen’s Miami living quarters his own.

The contents of the next chapter of Bündchen’s story have been quite surprising for Brady. The couple were married in 2009 and called it quits two years ago. The model and her new boyfriend began to be linked in the public eye that same year following a Costa Rican getaway. Bündchen vehemently denied cheating rumors, and proclaimed them to be nothing but “lies.”

A source revealed to Page Six that while Brady was used to the idea of his ex’s new and serious relationship, he did not have pregnancy news “on his radar.”

“Tom knew that things were serious between Gisele and Joaquin but he never imagined they would be having a child together,” the insider told the publication, and described Brady as being “stunned” after his ex-wife shared her news.

The former couple had a conversation together regarding the news before it was revealed to the public, as previously reported by The Blast. Privacy was important for the mom-to-be, as she wanted Brady to hear the news from her “first.”

The father-of-two had to take a second to process the news of his children having a half-sibling on the way. Brady was said to be “upset” by the news and felt like it was “a hard pill to swallow,” according to an insider’s commentary to The Daily Mail.

“Finding out Gisele was pregnant stung,” the source explained. “Tom had to get out his feelings about it and he had to do so in his own time,” they continued.

Brady is doing his best to move forward with his wife’s news. The source also explained that he understands he “can’t be upset about it anymore.” The former football star knows the situation is “out of control and out of his hands.” They also confirmed he is being proactive in not allowing the news “to get to him anymore,” either.

Bündchen’s Romance With Her New Man Began As A Friendship First

Bündchen was ready to help the public embrace her new relationship when she spoke about it for the first time publicly in a conversation with the New York Times.

She told the newspaper, “This is the first time I am seeing someone who was a friend of mine first. It’s very different. It is very honest. It is very transparent,” Bündchen described, of the relationship. She did not mention Valente by name.

The supermodel also subtly referenced the state of her relationship with the father of her children concerning the aforementioned cheating rumors.

    Article continues below advertisement

“This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful… Of course, for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified,” Bündchen said, of her famous relationship status.

Tom Brady Caught Social Media’s Attention With A Cryptic Instagram Post

Brady shared a quiet moment on his Instagram stories on Monday when he snapped a photo of a sunset. He used The Chicks’ cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” to soundtrack the post. Brady also captioned the lyrics, “Can the child within my heart rise above?”

The seemingly introspective sunset snap caught the attention of social media as the news of Bündchen’s pregnancy news was publicly revealed.

As of this writing, he has not shared any details about the post with his Instagram followers.

Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages

Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages

Valve announced a change for Steam today that will make things a lot clearer for everyone, as developers will now need to clearly list the kernel-level anti-cheat used on Steam store pages.

In the Steamworks Developer post Valve said: “We’ve heard from more and more developers recently that they’re looking for the right way to share anti-cheat information about their game with players. At the same time, players have been requesting more transparency around the anti-cheat services used in games, as well as the existence of any additional software that will be installed within the game.”

Developers with games already on Steam will also need to do this, as it’s not just for new games coming up for release, and it is also part of the release process now too. So Valve will be doing checks on games to ensure the notices are there and correct.

However, it’s only being forced for kernel-level anti-cheat. If it’s only client-side or server-side, it’s optional, but Valve say “we generally think that any game that makes use of anti-cheat technology would benefit from letting players know”.

Strictly star Jamie Borthwick has spoken out about Motsi Mabuse’s claims that he could swipe the top spot in the competition.

Despite the dancing pro’s glowing praise, Jamie isn’t convinced.

Jamie Borthwick responds to claims he could win Strictly

The EastEnders favourite responded to Motsi’s comments on It Takes Two.

When probed by Janette Manrara, he insisted he isn’t going to fall for the pressure.

Janette pointed out: “On the results show, Motsi said that you are becoming the one to beat in the competition.

“How much pressure has that put on you in training?”

Jamie appears to be trying to keep his cool regarding Motsi’s high praise, insisting: “Well, I certainly don’t know about that.

“I have said from day one that I am not falling into any pressure traps. Everything can change so quickly. The competition in this show is unbelievable.

“So, I am certainly not taking anything for granted.

“We are just trying to improve and I am trying to get better every week. For myself, of course, but also for Michelle.”

Despite brushing of the praise, Jamie definitely wowed with his Adamm’s family style American Smooth over the weekend and Michelle Tsiakkas’ choreography was even dubbed as “pure genius” by Shirley Ballas.

This week, Jamie and Strictly pro Michelle will be dancing a Samba to Faith by George Micheal.

The star has commented on just how much he loves his Latin performances, so we have high hopes for his next take to the dance floor.

Evidently, viewers feel the same, as one penned to X: “His Salsa was great and his hips are back so I’m looking forward to this. Not keen on the song for a Samba though.”

Another said: “Jamie is fab in Latins, but is there enough samba in Faith?”

A third added: “Jamie and Michelle smashed it again on Saturday.”

The Controversial Seinfeld Episode That Was Banned From Airing On NBC – SlashFilm

        0
The Controversial Seinfeld Episode That Was Banned From Airing On NBC – SlashFilm

For a live-action network sitcom, “Seinfeld” was unusually controversial. The series once killed off George’s fiancée Susan via a wedding-invite fiasco, and often trafficked in racial stereotypes for comedic effect. The latter penchant was continuously explained away by the fact that the series’ four central characters — Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer — were typically the worst people in any given situation. And that’s why so many people love the series: it’s a show about jerks behaving badly or pettily (something we’re all guilty of doing and being on occasion).

Did “Seinfeld” ever go too far? During its initial run in the 1990s, there were complaints but rarely any action to back them up. One exception was “The Puerto Rican Day,” the penultimate episode of the entire series in which the gang gets stuck in Upper East Side traffic during New York City’s annual Puerto Rican Day parade. Their predicament stings all the more because they keep getting stuck behind a purple Volkswagen Golf that won’t allow them to pass on a crowded Fifth Avenue. (This is where Jerry and company are being their usual jerky selves, as switching lanes is futile.) The quartet gradually separates, with Elaine trying to escape the revelry on foot, while the other three venture out to use an apartment bathroom by posing as potential tenants.

If this all sounds pretty de rigueur for a “Seinfeld” episode, it pretty much is until the climax, which sparked actual, feet-on-the-ground protests.

Near the end of “The Puerto Rican Day,” Kramer procures a sparkler and accidentally sets a Puerto Rican flag on fire. He immediately panics and attempts to put the fire out by stomping on the flag. Obviously, this sight enrages the parade attendees, who descend on him. He’s able to escape the angry mob, but upon reaching the apartment where Jerry and George are, they all realize no one is in Jerry’s car — at which point they look out the window and see the mob attacking the automobile.

That time Seinfeld learned not to mess with Puerto Rico

“The Puerto Rican Day” provoked protests from the Puerto Rican community, the timing of which was unfortunate for “Seinfeld” given that the following week’s episode was the hotly anticipated series finale (which also cheesed people off). The situation grew even more fraught when it was revealed that the “Seinfeld” writers had refused to show the episode to the National Puerto Rican Coalition’s then president Manuel Mirabal. Writer Alec Berg further inflamed the matter by saying, “We don’t consult a rabbinical council when we do a show about Jews.”

The protests worked; NBC never aired “The Puerto Rican Day” again, and pulled it from “Seinfeld” syndication package. Was it justified in doing so? I’m not sure, but I do know the Puerto Rican community absolutely had a right to be furious (that and “The Puerto Rican Day” deserves its spot on /Film’s list of the five worst “Seinfeld” episodes). It all comes down to this simple question: would “Seinfeld” have ever been allowed to air an episode where Kramer accidentally burned the American flag and stomped on it? Not a chance. This was a weird kind of punching down humor that couldn’t help but come off as racially insensitive, even if the intent was to make fun of Kramer’s trademark obliviousness.

Given how hard the island nation has had it over the years, getting hammered by hurricanes and denied aid by the Trump administration, comedians would do well to find another target, especially if they suck out loud at stand-up.

Ruth Langsford’s ‘fears for son Jack’ following Eamonn Holmes split: “She’s still hurting”

In the wake of her split from Eamonn Holmes after a 14-year marriage, Ruth Langsford is navigating her new life as a single woman.

The news, which shocked many, claimed that Eamonn had moved out of their Surrey home prior to the announcement.

Now, Ruth is facing single life and co-parenting her 22-year-old son, Jack, with Eamonn.

          Ruth Langsford news

As the festive season approaches, the former couple will be forced to decide how they will spend Christmas as a blended family.

In a heartfelt interview with Woman & Home, Loose Women star Ruth recently expressed that she wants “happiness” for son Jack.

She said: “When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken. You can’t guarantee any of that, but that’s what I want most for Jack.”

Sources close to Ruth now reveal that Jack’s wellbeing has become her predominant focus.

A source shared with OK! Magazine: “Ruth has been keeping her head down since she and Eamonn split, and her main focus is always on Jack. She just wants to protect him and put his happiness first as they navigate this next chapter.

“Ruth admitted recently that she never wants Jack’s heart to get broken – this is her way of saying she’s still hurting and never wants her children to go through the pain she has. Happiness is all she’s ever wanted and she’s still hurting.”

ED! has contacted reps for Ruth for comment.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford split

Reportedly, Eamonn may have found love with Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old relationship counsellor, and has been seen spending time with her abroad.

Amid these changes, Ruth has to brace herself for the upcoming holiday season. This will be her first Christmas since the separation.

In a past interview, Ruth admitted that she didn’t mind spending the holidays away from Eamonn: “Being apart for Christmas has never been a problem. I wouldn’t be going to Belfast this year because I need to be with my mum. It’s about family for me.”

However, this year’s separation will be different.

Sources suggest that although Ruth is dreading the festive season, she is staying strong.

“Ruth is dreading Christmas coming up, because it will be her first one apart from Eamonn – who could be spending it with his new partner,” the source added to OK!.

Jack might also choose to spend the holiday differently, which the source claims adds another concern for Ruth.

Amidst her struggles, Ruth has been spotted with a new hairstyle and spending time with friends, including This Morning presenter Rylan Clark.

ED! has contacted reps for Ruth for comment.

Morph Activates Mainnet On Ethereum, Accelerating Consumer Blockchain Adoption

Ethereum Layer 2 consumer blockchain Morph announced the launch of its mainnet, aiming to facilitate the next generation of applications that will appeal to everyday users.

Morph’s consumer layer is designed to tackle the fundamental barriers hindering blockchain adoption. It enables participants in the ecosystem to trade real assets and conduct transactions efficiently. Projects currently in development on Morph can now migrate to the mainnet, allowing them to continue enhancing their technologies.

The Morph consumer layer represents a well-structured ecosystem that integrates various technologies, services, and features, utilizing both optimistic and zero-knowledge rollups to enhance security and performance. The newly launched mainnet provides builders with a scalable, secure, and user-friendly blockchain experience tailored for non-crypto users, opening up possibilities for consumer applications development.

The mainnet promises to deliver high performance through its implementation of optimistic and zero-knowledge rollups. It includes features such as EIP-4844 to reduce transaction costs and facilitates streamlined withdrawals via single-transaction bridging.

Furthermore, Morph aims to equip developers with essential resources to prioritize consumer needs. Its comprehensive builder ecosystem now offers direct access to leading exchanges through its Centralized Exchange Coalition, funding opportunities via its VC Alliance network, extensive incubation and acceleration support, marketing and user acquisition assistance, and technical guidance and resources.

Morph’s Mainnet Builds On Holesky Testnet’s Success With 6M Wallets And 100M Transactions

The launch of Morph’s mainnet comes on the heels of its previous Holesky Testnet, which has demonstrated strong user interest by generating over 6 million unique wallet addresses. Additionally, the testnet has facilitated more than 100 million transactions, indicating the network’s reliability.

With over 200 projects currently in development, Morph showcases the growing demand for consumer-oriented blockchain solutions, supported by a community of more than 1 million members who align with its vision.
