      After news broke that Liam Payne had died, fans and fellow artists alike shared stories and memories of the beloved One Direction star. 

      And then Zayn Malik join in.

      It’s no secret that the former band mates had a relationship fraught with disagreements and in one instance even violence.

      But that’s in the past, and in the moment, all Zayn feels for Liam is love and grief.

      Zayn Honors Liam Payne With Beautiful Tribute

      Shortly after the band released their joint statement, Zayn took to Instagram to pay tribute on his own.

      He shared a letter written directly to Liam, sharing all the feelings and thoughts he had for his friend, knowing full well they used to “butt heads”:

      “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives.

      I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved.”

      He then address the elephant in the room, the times that they didn’t always see eye to eye.

      “Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no fucks about telling people when they were wrong. Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it.”

      “I have with you in my heart forever”

      He continued:

      “When it came to the music Liam, you were the most qualified in every sense. I knew nothing in comparison, I was a novice child with no experience and you were already a professional. I was always happy to know, no matter what happened on stage we could always rely on you know which way to steer the ship next.

      I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what l’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there is no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated.”

      He ended his letter with a simple wish for Liam:

      “I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are.

      Love you bro.”

      Liam & Zayn’s Complicated Relationship

      It’s no secret amongst fans of One Direction that Liam and Zayn never had the easiest of relationships.

      After Zayn left the group in 2015, there was a lot of resentment and a lot of bitterness.

      In a podcast with Logan Paul in 2022, Liam even alluded to an incident where the pair came to blows.

      “It was well-known within the band that I don’t like taking s—-,” Liam shared. “There was one moment where there was an argument backstage and one member, in particular, threw me up a wall. So I said to him, ‘If you don’t remove those hands there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.’”

      Later on, he spoke on Zayn directly, and offered a deeper glimpse into their relationship. 

      ​​“There are many reasons I dislike Zayn and there are many reasons why I’ll always be on his side,” Liam began at the time. “If I had had to go through what he went through, through his growth and whatever else. My parents are overly supportive, to the point where it’s annoying at times, and Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense.”

      Later, when there was outrage over the interview, particularly from Zayn’s fans, Liam offered up his feelings once more. 

      “I was saying that there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side. That’s family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever,” he said.

      Liam’s Untimely Death 

      A beautiful soul like Liam’s is horrible to lose, especially at such a young age. 

      The former boy bander died outside a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. Local police confirmed on Wednesday that Liam was found dead after falling from his third floor hotel room balcony.

      In a statement, the capital police said they were called to the hotel in the capital’s leafy Palermo neighborhood where they were notified of an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”

      Liam had been honest over the years of his troubles with alcoholism. However,  in the several videos he posted to his Snapchat Story in the hours leading up to his shocking death, Liam looked at peace and happy. 

      In one of the since-deleted snaps, he even shared with his fans he was having a “lovely day” while spending time with girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Argentina.

      An incredibly eerie moment captured on film, knowing just how the day would end for him.

        One Direction stars Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have paid tribute to Liam Payne following his death.

        The 31-year-old singer, who rose to fame on The X Factor in 2008 and 2010, fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday (October 16). Liam died at the CasaSur Hotel in the neighbourhood of Palermo, in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires.

        According to preliminary autopsy findings, he died from “multiple traumas” that caused “internal and external bleeding”.

        In a statement on Thursday night, the One Direction stars paid tribute to their beloved bandmate Liam.

        It read: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam‘s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.

        “But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”

        They added: “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.

        “For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.

        “We love you Liam. Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry.”

        Meanwhile, on his own Instagram account, Louis shared a personal message and included a heartbreaking vow over Liam’s seven-year-old son Bear.

        He wrote: “I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul.

        “I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I’d longed all my life for.”

        He continued: “Liam was an incredible song writer with a great sense of melody, we often spoke of getting back in the studio together to try and recreate the writing chemistry we had built up in the band.

        “And for the record, Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam.”

        He then shared a message to Liam. Louis wrote: “A message to you Liam if you’re listening.

        “I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I’m really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye. I’m so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours, reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I’d have with you for life. I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn’t to be.”

        He concluded: “I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.

        “I wish I got chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you. Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you mate. Sleep well.”

        Meanwhile, Zayn shared a series of photos of himself and Liam on his Instagram page.

        He captioned the post: “Love You Bro.”

        Parasite and Snowpiercer director Bong Joon-ho tapped Twilight heartthrob turned serious actor Robert Pattinson to star in his upcoming sci-fi movie Mickey 17 about a guy who gets cloned and killed a bunch in outer space. And Pattinson apparently experimented with some very funky voices for two of the clones, and Bong told him no.

        “My initial idea was to do impressions of Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville [from Jackass],” Pattinson told Empire in a new interview. “I love Steve-O’s voice. We did it on the first read-through. And Bong was like, ‘That voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard.’ I was like, ‘Is that a good thing?’ He was like, ‘No.’”

        Because each copy of the titular Mickey, a down-on-his-luck blue collar worker turned colony ship test subject, is played by Pattinson, he had to find ways to differentiate each numbered version. “I just had this idea that he’s kind of like a dog with a complete lack of self-worth,” he said. “He just keeps turning up, reporting for duty. But then I hope the reveal is that it’s a combination of deep, misguided guilt, and also survival. It’s him just saying, ‘I’ll just keep lowering my expectations the whole time.’” Big mood, as the kids say.

        Pattinson eventually settled on an equally unlikely inspiration for Mickey 17 and 18’s voices. “[Mickey 17 is] a little like Stimpy,” he told Empire, referencing the absurdist 90s Nickelodeon about chihuahua and a cat. “When 18 comes in, it’s a little bit more like Ren.” Mickey 17 hits theaters on January 31, 2025, but if you want to study up on Pattinson’s inspirations the The Ren & Stimpy Show is currently streaming on Paramount+.

This flexibility is highlighted as one of the main reasons Greyhawk was chosen for the new DMG, as it provides a framework for DMs to build their own adventures.

        The 2024 DMG will present Greyhawk as a campaign hub, complete with updated maps, locations, and sample adventures, centered around the city of Greyhawk. The team mentions that while the setting will stay true to its original form, some elements have been updated to better fit modern campaigns, including a balance of NPCs and story conflicts that reflect the evolving diversity of D&D.

          On PC via the Epic Games Store, the game has already run a play-to-airdrop campaign, which saw gamers complete challenges to earn a chunk of its soon-to-launch MNRY token—and those who own the project’s NFT got an extra bonus. A similar system will be put into place with the mobile auto-battler that Moonray is set to release early next year. 

          But this will not be the case for the PS5 version of the arena combat game, at least from the outset.

          “We make sure to comply with the rules and conditions put forth by each platform we are working with. These rules differ between them, especially when it comes to Web3 elements,” a Moonray spokesperson told Decrypt. “The PS5 version of the game will not feature any Web3 elements at this stage.”

          Moonray originally launched as a metaverse role-playing game, which was being built on Bitcoin layer-2 network Stacks. The project soon rebranded to a multiplayer competitive battler built on Ethereum, while remaining set in the same “post-human” world. Players are dropped into an arena equipped with swords, weapons, and powers to defeat their opponents in a range of game modes.

          Launching on Sony’s console will offer Moonray another opportunity to reach players, but without the core crypto features that have helped define its launch thus far.

          “For Web3 to reach broad adoption. there really has to be a serious conversation about where you find your users,” a Moonray spokesperson told Decrypt. “For gaming, consoles are incredibly important platforms to reach a broad gaming audience.”

          Last week, the Avalanche-based battle royale shooter Off the Grid launched on PS5, Xbox, and PC to significant demand. Its gripping gameplay led to tons of viral moments, and the PC version became the most popular free-to-play title on the Epic Games Store.

          However, the game’s crypto integration still hasn’t been completed. Off the Grid developer Gunzilla Games is launching its own Avalanche L1 chain (aka subnet), which is currently running as a testnet, and it appears that wallets are being created on the back end and transactions are being made for certain in-game actions.

          Off the Grid’s NFT integration and GUN token are not yet live in the game, and Gunzilla has yet to clarify how that functionality will work on consoles. The studio has not responded to Decrypt’s recent attempts to seek clarification on that front, after previously declining to provide details earlier this year.

          “Currently, we are not ready to disclose all the inner workings and would like to keep the specifics of these mechanics confidential until the game officially releases,” Gunzilla Games told Decrypt in March. “This decision not only helps us protect our unique ‘secret sauce’ from competitive pressures, but also aligns with our commitment to providing traditional gamers, who are our primary audience, with an unparalleled quality of gameplay.”

          While the initial success of Off the Grid has generated excitement over the future of crypto gaming on consoles, the continued mystery around the integration has left onlookers continuing to wonder about the path forward on PlayStation and Xbox.

          No specific date has been set for Moonray’s console launch, but the team confirmed to Decrypt that it has just started porting the title from PC to PS5. With this, the team plans to “conduct testing” in the second half of 2025, although it’s unclear whether that will be public or private.
