11 Creative Ways to Boost Productivity Using Generative AI

As generative AI tools become more advanced and accessible, they’re quickly becoming invaluable assets for productivity, learning, and everyday problem-solving. If you’re only using AI for basic queries, you might be missing out on some powerful capabilities. Here are some innovative and less commonly used methods that I’ve found to be genuinely helpful for saving time and boosting efficiency.

1. Identify the Right Medicine for Symptoms

If you’re feeling unwell, AI can help identify the most suitable medication. Snap a photo of all your medicine blister packs, then describe your symptoms to AI. With this approach, ChatGPT or similar tools can quickly sift through potential options and suggest the best medication based on your symptoms.

Example: Upload an image of a few cold and flu medications you have on hand and ask, “Which one would help with fever and congestion?”

2. Reduce Hallucinations with Web Verification

Generative AI sometimes produces confident but inaccurate answers, known as “hallucinations.” A helpful trick to improve accuracy is to end your query with, “Do a web search and then reply.” This encourages the AI to verify its information with a real-time web search, resulting in more reliable responses.

Example: “What’s the latest news on the LLaMA language model? Do a web search and then reply.”

3. Use the Feynman Technique for Deeper Learning

The Feynman Technique is a proven method for solidifying your understanding of a concept by teaching it in simple terms. After asking AI to explain a concept, try summarizing it back to the AI in your own words. Finish with, “Correct?” to receive feedback. This active approach not only improves retention but also deepens comprehension.

Example: After learning about quantum computing, summarize it to the AI as, “Quantum computing uses principles of quantum mechanics to process complex computations in parallel. Correct?”

4. Convert Photos to Text Effortlessly

For on-the-go text extraction from images, ChatGPT’s image recognition and transcription capabilities are remarkably convenient. Take a photo of any text (such as notes or printed documents), and let AI handle the rest. This can be especially useful for capturing text from business cards, handouts, or receipts quickly.

Example: Snap a picture of a printed schedule and ask, “Can you convert this to text so I can add it to my calendar?”

5. Embrace the Power of TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read)

For everyday information overload, the TL;DR prompt is a lifesaver. Use this with AI to summarize code, emails, articles, news, or book pages into concise overviews. This enables you to keep up with extensive information in a short amount of time.

Example: Paste in a long email and ask, “Can you summarize this email’s key points?”

6. Learn New Concepts with the Pareto Principle

Applying the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) to learning allows you to focus on the most impactful parts of any topic. Ask the AI to “Use the Pareto Principle to create a course for me on [topic],” and it will help you grasp the essentials efficiently.

Example: “I want to learn basic graphic design. Use the Pareto Principle to teach me the most important parts.”

7. Get Tailored Movie Recommendations

If you’re a film buff, AI can act as a personalized movie concierge. Instead of wading through endless lists, ask AI to recommend films based on specific genres, actors, or languages you enjoy, and specify a spoiler-free summary to ensure you’re not given too much detail.

Example: “Suggest a good thriller with minimal spoilers, starring [favorite actor].”

8. Bypass SEO with Direct Web Searches

Sometimes, sifting through SEO-optimized articles isn’t ideal. Asking ChatGPT or another AI tool to conduct a direct search can help filter out fluff and find highly relevant information more quickly than a traditional search engine.

Example: “Search the web for unbiased reviews of the latest iPhone model and provide a summary.”

9. Receive Constructive Feedback on Your Work

For an objective assessment of your work, ask AI to “rate” it and suggest improvements. This can be applied to everything from articles to code, allowing you to pinpoint areas for refinement without needing another person’s input.

Example: After pasting in a draft, ask, “Rate this article on clarity, structure, and engagement, and suggest specific ways I can improve each area.”

10. Get Concise, Key-Packed Answers

If you find the AI’s responses are too lengthy, you can refine the prompt to include, “Give brief, clear answers that include all key details. Be concise but informative.” This ensures responses are straightforward without sacrificing substance.

Example: “Explain blockchain technology. Give brief, clear answers that include all key details.”

11. Use Incognito Mode for Sensitive Queries

When privacy is a priority, enable the “Incognito” or temporary chat feature in ChatGPT. With this setting, your conversations won’t be saved, and your data won’t be used for model training. This is particularly useful when discussing sensitive information or testing prompts you may not want to be stored.

Example: When discussing proprietary or personal matters, activate the temporary chat option.

Conclusion

There are countless ways to integrate AI tools into daily routines to make life easier and more productive. These suggestions are just a starting point—feel free to experiment with your own creative applications of AI. Have any unique ideas that others might not have tried yet? “It needs a lot more time in the oven” – Larian hopes it can distract you from whatever its next game is with a cute, puzzley Advent calendar

“It needs a lot more time in the oven” – Larian hopes it can distract you from whatever its next game is with a cute, puzzley Advent calendar

No, Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios isn’t quite ready to show off its next game just yet, but it does have a little Advent calendar for you to get through at least.

Here’s what we know about Larian’s next game so far: it exists! That literally is it at this point in time, which isn’t at all surprising considering Baldur’s Gate 3 only received its full launch last year, but fans of the studio will obviously be desperate for more (even if the RPG is massive and has yet another update coming next year). We do also know that the devs have had a summit to discuss what’s next, though none of us were privy to that conversation, so details are slimmer than a piece of paper. Still, Larian is hoping you’ll forget about all that, as that studio has prepared an Advent calendar for us all to go through as a nice little winter distraction.

Watch on YouTube

Larian shared word of the calendar with a tongue in cheek little video with the entire company thanking fans and wishing them a happy holiday season. It also featured senior communications developer Aoife Wilson picking up a present with a big ole label that reads “Larian’s Next Game,” though before we got to see what’s inside it CEO Swen Vincke rugby tackles her out the way. “Sorry about that! Uh, no. This thing? It needs a lot more time in the oven,” Vincke said in the video himself. “By the time it’s going to be finished it’s going to be so big,” Vincke exclaimed. “For the time being? You’re going to have to wait.”

Manage cookie settings

The Advent calendar itself so far has three days worth of activities to check out, though so far they’re all just very simple jigsaw puzzles. Once you put it together, you get some lovely art from across the studio’s games and some details about what the art is of. Nothing fancy, but a nice opportunity to get some new background art for your PC, and there’s something new every day until Christmas Eve! And definitely not a sign of what’s to come, so don’t even try to take a peak.

Meta Unveils “Meta Motivo” AI Model to Advance Metaverse Experiences – Cryptoflies News

      10

Meta has announced the release of a new artificial intelligence (AI) model, “Meta Motivo,” which promises to enhance the metaverse experience.

According to a blog post from the Meta Newsroom, the model is designed to control the movements of human-like digital agents, offering a more realistic experience compared to current digital avatars.

“Meta Motivo” uses an unlabeled dataset of motions to train its system through “unsupervised reinforcement learning.”

This approach enables the model to mimic human-like behaviors while maintaining zero-shot inference capabilities, meaning it can generalize to new tasks without additional training.

The model supports several advanced capabilities, including motion tracking, goal pose reaching, and reward optimization. These features could lead to more lifelike non-playable characters (NPCs), easier character animation, and the creation of new immersive experiences.

This release reflects Meta’s ongoing commitment to developing the metaverse, even as the company continues to face challenges in realizing the full potential of its investments. Despite significant spending, Meta has yet to achieve the expected outcomes from its metaverse ventures.

In December 2023, the company reported a sharp decline in VR headset sales, with a nearly 40% drop compared to the previous year. While Reality Labs, Meta’s division focused on virtual and augmented reality, reported over $1 billion in sales for Q4, it also disclosed an operating loss of $4.65 billion.

As part of the company’s efforts to cut costs and fully focus on metaverse and AI-related projects, Meta will shut down its Spark AR platform on January 14, 2025, ending support for third-party augmented reality (AR) effects.

In September, during the Meta Connect conference, the company unveiled several new products, including the AR glasses “Orion,” updates to Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and the budget-friendly Meta Quest 3S mixed reality headset.

ABC News to Pay Donald Trump $15 Million to Settle Defamation Suit

ABC News to Pay Donald Trump Million to Settle Defamation Suit

Donald Trump and ABC News have settled their defamation case … with the media company agreeing to pay millions.

According to multiple reports — including an article posted to ABC News’ own website — the two sides have agreed to settle the lawsuit for $15 million.

The money is reportedly going to the “Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for [Trump], as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past” rather than directly to the 47th POTUS.

ABC News released a statement about the settlement … writing, “We are pleased that the parties have reached an agreement to dismiss the lawsuit on the terms in the court filing.”

On top of the settlement, the company will also pay another $1 million in fees to Trump’s lawyers.

Trump filed the defamation lawsuit back in March after an interview with Nancy Mace when anchor George Stephanopoulos said Trump had been found liable for “rape.”

While DJT was found liable for sexual assault in the case brought by E. Jean Carroll, he wasn’t found liable for rape … so, he and his lawyers sued.

I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec on pulling prank on ‘volatile’ Gordon Ramsay: ‘I thought he was going to punch me’

I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec previously opened up about a prank they pulled on Gordon Ramsay – only to seriously regret it…

The TV stars – who are back on screens for I’m A Celebrity’s coming out show on Saturday (December 14) – are no strangers to rubbing shoulders with famous faces.

And thanks to their smash-hit show, Saturday Night Takeaway, they have been able to wind-up a ton of celebs.

But it seems one joke they played on Gordon Ramsay almost ended in disaster…

I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec on pranking Gordon Ramsay

On Saturday Night Takeaway, Ant and Dec pulled off plenty of pranks on famous faces. In 2014, they decided to make TV chef Gordon Ramsay their next victim – but the lads would soon regret their decision…

During the segment, Ant and Dec flew to Los Angeles and dressed up as Mexican handymen. Winding Gordon up, the pair went on to sabotage his dressing room by letting Gordon think they had used his toilet, as well as leaving food everywhere.

Dec ‘thought Gordon was going to punch him’

Speaking about the elaborate stunt in 2024, Dec revealed he thought the prank could have ended up in disaster.

He told The Independent: “Physical abuse was a real possibility. I thought he was going to punch me.”

He was effing, blinding, and definitely ready to go at them.

Diego Rincón, the show’s long-time executive producer, also spoke about the prank, revealing: “Gordon’s quite a volatile character and he did exactly what we hoped. He was effing, blinding, and definitely ready to go at them. When the boys revealed themselves, Dec almost recoiled, as if to say ‘Please don’t hit me’.”

Gordon has ‘vowed’ to get Ant and Dec back

Ant then chimed in to defend Gordon, before listing off all the things they put Gordon through during the prank. Dec then said: “He was having none of it. Every time I’ve eaten in a Ramsay restaurant since, I check the food before putting it in my mouth. He vowed to get us back. Knowing Gordon, he will.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out of Here! Coming Out airs on Saturday (December 14) at 9:35pm on ITV1.

Ant and Dec on ‘bittersweet’ decision to ‘step off the hamster wheel’ and end 20-year TV run

Ant and Dec previously opened up about their decision to end Saturday Night Takeaway.

Since shooting to fame, the Geordie duo have become TV’s go-to presenting duo.

From hosting Britain’s Got Talent to their own Saturday Night Takeaway show, Ant and Dec have kept busy over the years. The lads are bad on screens this weekend too, for the I’m A Celebrity Coming Out show on Saturday (December 14).

But back in 2023, the boys left fans gutted when they confirmed they were taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway.

Ant and Dec on taking a break from SNT

The Geordie duo hosted their final episode of Saturday Night Takeaway in April 2024 after more than two decades on air. Fans were gutted when Ant and Dec announced they would be taking a break from the show after its 20th series.

And it turns out their decision to end things was down to the pair now having families of their own.

Dec is married to Ali Astall and is a dad of two. Ant meanwhile, recently became a dad for the first time with wife Anne-Marie Corbett – who gave birth to their baby boy Wilder in May earlier this year.

Ant and Dec ‘want to step off the hamster wheel’

Speaking to The Independent in February ahead of their final SNT episode, Ant and Dec opened up on why they stopped the show.

“It was a tough decision to put Takeaway on hiatus, but they were on the same page,” Dec said, before he added: “Twenty series just feels like a natural point to pause. We don’t want to say we’ll never do it again. But we’ve both got families now. Our lives have changed dramatically. We want to step off the hamster wheel, catch our breath and decide what’s next.”

Ant then described it as “bittersweet” but admitted “it feels like the right thing”.

              SNT’s final episode

In April 2024, Ant and Dec hosted their final Saturday Night Takeaway show for a while. In an emotional end to the show, Dec tearfully said: “We have truly adored every second making this show.

“But there’s one thing we have never ever forgotten. That’s the fact it’s not our show, it’s your show. So we’d like to say a thank you to you, our audience.”
