John Woo’s 2000 film “Mission: Impossible 2” is handily the worst film in the “Mission: Impossible” film series. Its drama is turgid and unconvincing, the romance between Tom Cruise and Thandiwe Newton is only briefly convincing, and the villain, played by Dougray Scott, is generic to the point of being noncorporeal. Woo’s ordinarily vivacious and balletic gun violence is supplanted by instantly-dated, “You Wouldn’t Steal a Handbag”-style hyper-edited violence, something that feels like a remnant of a now-forgotten era of MTV. The film tried to turn Ethan Hunt from a steely company man into a flippant, sexy, American James Bond. It didn’t really work.

The most memorable part of the movie is, like in most of the “Mission: Impossible” movies, the stunts that Cruise performed himself. Woo’s film opens with super-spy Ethan Hunt (Cruise) enjoying a rare vacation by himself. He is seen rock climbing on the various rock faces found in Dead Horse Point State Park in Moab, Utah. Because Ethan Hunt — and, to an extent, Tom Cruise — is addicted to danger, he is making the climbs sans ropes, free solo. Cruise insisted on doing the climbing himself, as he was going through a rock climbing phase at the time. There was no safety net constructed for the Moab scenes, although Cruise was equipped with a safety harness.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, though, Cruise revealed that he had an injury while shooting that sequence. While making a particularly daring leap from one rock face to the next, “high to low,” as he said, he revealed that he landed on a broken foot, injured in another personal incident. This was in addition to tearing his shoulder, an injury he has talked about in the past. He also almost got stabbed in the eye during the shoot. “Mission: Impossible 2” was hell on Cruise’s body.

It’s worth recalling that John Woo hating filming the cliff stunts. He was dragged up into the mountains by one of the world’s biggest movie stars, and admitted that he was a nervous wreck the whole time. And rightly so, as he knew his career would be over if he was running a camera as Tom Cruise plunged to his death. Cruise didn’t die, as we can now infer from his currently living state, but he did get horribly banged up. The shoulder injury was bad enough, but now, thanks to the Empire interview, we know about his foot as well. As Cruise tells it:

“What people don’t know is that there’s a section where I’m jumping high to low, but my foot was broken. And I never mentioned it to anyone. Some of these injuries, what’s the point? You just keep going. So I’m jumping, and my foot wasn’t right. John Woo was like, ‘We’ve got the shot.’ I was like, ‘No, we want it in one shot, I gotta keep doing it.’ And that’s the shot that’s in the movie. But it was so much fun working with John, doing that sequence, because I knew it was our campaign.”

Cruise is referring to the film’s marketing campaign. And, indeed, the shots of Cruise climbing the Moab rocks were used prominently in the “Mission: Impossible 2” trailers. The dangerousness of the stunts would turn out to be a pattern for the “Mission: Impossible” film series which now regularly features real-life stunts that Cruise insists on performing himself. Most recently, for “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning,” Cruise drove a motorcycle off a cliff and deployed a parachute to save himself.

The next film in the series, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” is due in theaters on May 23, 2025. We know from early reports that Cruise will spend some time in that film dangling off of an airborne biplane.

Ethereum Layer 2 network, Starknet announced that Starknet v0.13.4 is now live on Testnet and is scheduled for deployment on Mainnet around March 17th.

As part of the mainnet launch, support for older RPC versions below v0.7 will be discontinued, meaning Starknet full nodes will only support RPC versions v0.7 and above. Users and developers are advised to ensure they are using an up-to-date version to maintain compatibility.

Additionally, RPC v0.8 will be introduced with Starknet v0.13.4, and full node client teams are currently implementing its specifications. Starknet recommends upgrading to RPC v0.8 to take advantage of new features such as storage proofs and the introduction of Layer 2 gas. However, it is important to note that RPC v0.8 does not support deprecated transaction versions 0, 1, and 2, so projects that rely on receipts or traces should ensure they are updated accordingly.

Furthermore, following extensive collaboration with the community, the Starknet Wallet and DApp API is undergoing an update alongside a new version of starknet-js. This update decouples wallets, decentralization applications (dApps), and starknet-js versions, allowing for more flexible and accelerated development cycles. The migration process is straightforward, as developers can now use the new WalletAccount method instead of the previous approach of initiating an Account object returned by the wallet. Starknet-js will handle the transition automatically. Given that only RPC versions 0.7 and above will be supported, it is essential to use starknet-js version 6.9.0 or later to ensure full compatibility with the latest updates.

How to Unlock Jasmine and Aladdin in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Unlocking Jasmine and Aladdin characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley will require players to unlock the Aladdin Realm and complete all of the new Realm quests. The Aladdin Realm is on the third floor of the Dream Castle and it costs 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock it.

Upon entering the Aladdin Realm, meet with Jasmine in Agrabah market. From there, you have to pursue along the quest to get the upgrade for the pickaxe. It will allow you to break the sandstones around the realm. After that, find and free Aladdin in the South Alley. From here, you will have to complete a series of Realm quests before you can bring Jasmine and Aladdin to Dreamlight Valley. There are six quests in total that you must complete to unlock both Jasmine and Aladdin.

During the end of the “Carpet Diem” quest, you will be able to invite Aladdin and Jasmine to Dreamlight Valley. You will get the foundation of Aladdin and Jasmine’s House. Go to the Valley and build their house. It will cost you 20,000 Star Coins to build their house. Once done, Jasmine will come to the Valley. Speak with her and then go back to Aladdin Realm and speak with Aladdin to bring him to the valley as well.

From here, you can freely hang out with them, give them gifts, and complete their Friendship Quests for exclusive rewards.

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company has officially revealed gameplay for Pokémon Legends Z-A, the long-awaited next game in the iconic monster catching franchise. After a year of extra development time, the Nintendo Switch game has finally been properly revealed in a brand-new trailer alongside a release date.

During the Pokemon Presents direct video, Game Freak confirmed the Pokémon Legends Z-A release date for Late 2025. Coming after the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, the game will be playable on both generations of Nintendo handhelds.

Set within Lumiose City from Pokemon X and Y, players will explore the incredibly dense city with parkour elements, wild roaming creatures and the street battling with physical movement to avoid damage. After choosing from the starter Pokemon of Totodile, Chikorita or Tepig, players will explore a city going through a major redevelopment plan.

Alongside the return of Legends Acrceus-style gameplay, Pokemon Legends Z-A will also see the return of Mega Evolution, a mechanic missing from the series since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This mechanic allows you to temporarily evolve your creature into a more powerful form with awesome effects.

For the first time in the Pokemon series, battling has been overhauled. Now, moves have their own stats regarding reach and power, meaning your Pokemon needs to be within distance of another creature to do damage. Alongside the new battling, players will have to be careful to not get in the way of monster’s attacks.

To bring wild Pokemon to the city, multiple wild zones have been set up within the sprawling urban environment. Here, you’ll engage in catching mechanics very similar to those seen in Legends: Arceus, allowing you to sneak around and catch creatures without them noticing.

Additionally, the new game appears to be focused around Zygarde, a legendary Pokemon introduced in X and Y but not seen in-game until Sun and Moon. While not confirmed, it appears that players will be able to discover Zygarde cells across Lumiose City.
