GPT-4.5 preview is available in Azure AI Foundry

Microsoft just released the information that GPT-4.5 preview model is available for deployment at Azure AI Foundry! Not everyone can yet use this, but it requires a registration before it can be used. I, of course, placed in my application for the model but at this point I am still waiting for the registration result. Unfortunately I can’t give my experiences about the model capabilities yet 🔒 – but will do that later once I get the lock removed!

Registration is required to use this model: Access will be granted according to Microsoft’s eligibility criteria; you may not be eligible for access at this time. If you have already requested access, thank you for your patience while your submission is reviewed. Request Access here: https://aka.ms/oai/gptaccess

Microsoft posted an article about the latest updates to Azure AI Foundry: Announcing new models, customization tools, and enterprise agent upgrades in Azure AI Foundry.

Azure AI Foundry description for GPT-4.5:Core capabilities of GPT-4.5Model Qualities: more natural interaction experienceAccuracy & Hallucinations: more precise and relevantStronger human alignment: understanding of nuance, and natural conversationCreative and practical applications: for coding and project managementAvailability and details

Azure AI Foundry description for GPT-4.5:

GPT-4.5 Preview is the largest and strongest general purpose model, best suited for chat for its advancement in delivering more natural chat interactions. It is designed to be highly capable in language tasks, and excels in areas such as intuition, writing style, and knowledge. GPT-4.5 Preview handles creative prompts well and responds effectively to obscure knowledge queries. It has leading scores on the Simple QA benchmark which tests factual knowledge.

GPT-4.5 Preview is a classic pretrained model like GPT-4 and gpt-4o. Compared to previous GPT models, GPT-4.5 Preview is larger and trained for longer. Consider GPT-4.5 Preview as a complementary model to reasoning-focused models such as o1 and o3-mini.

Core capabilities of GPT-4.5

Developers can leverage GPT-4.5 in numerous ways to enhance productivity and creativity. In communication, users can rely on GPT-4.5 to craft clear and effective emails, messages, and documentation. It also offers personalized learning and coaching experiences, helping users to acquire new skills or deepen knowledge in specific areas. During brainstorming sessions, GPT-4.5 can generate innovative ideas and solutions, making it a valuable tool for creative thinking.

For project planning and execution, GPT-4.5 assists users in organizing their tasks, ensuring thorough and efficient approaches. It can also handle complex task automation, simplifying intricate processes and workflows. Developers can streamline their coding workflows by getting step-by-step guidance and automating repetitive tasks, to save time and reduce errors. Overall, GPT-4.5 is a versatile model. Starting today, enterprise customers can access GPT-4.5 in Azure AI Foundry.

Introducing GPT-4.5 in preview on Azure OpenAI Service

Model Qualities: more natural interaction experience

Early testing (not yet by me personally) suggests that interacting with GPT-4.5 Preview feels more natural. It has a broader knowledge base, and should have improved ability to follow user intent, and greater “EQ” to make it useful for tasks like improving writing, programming, and solving practical problems. Microsoft and OpenAI expects it to hallucinate less than other models.

Accuracy & Hallucinations: more precise and relevant

Microsoft’s and OpenAIs testing shows that GPT-4.5 Preview achieves lower hallucination rates compared to GPT-4o (37% vs. GPT-4o at 61.2%) and higher accuracy (61.9% compared to 38.4% for GPT-4o). This means “compared to GPT-4o, developers can rely on more precise and relevant responses”

Stronger human alignment: understanding of nuance, and natural conversation

For GPT-4.5 Preview, Microsoft developed new, scalable alignment techniques that enable training larger and more powerful models with data derived from smaller models. These techniques improve GPT 4.5 Preview’s steerability, understanding of nuance, and natural conversation.

Creative and practical applications: for coding and project management

GPT-4.5 Preview should then excel in writing help, design, multi-step coding workflows, task automation, communication, learning, coaching, and brainstorming. Also shows strong performance in planning, execution, and complex task automation. “making it a more effective tool for coding and project management.“

Availability and details

GPT-4.5 is available currently at East US 2 (Global Standard) and Sweden Central (Global Standard) regions & deployments. The context window size for GPT-4.5 is 128k and it can produce up to 16k tokens on output. Training data is up to October 2023.

Satya Nadella mentioned in LinkedIn about the 4.5 preview model: “GPT-4.5 is now in preview, demonstrating a big step forward in both pre-training and post-training scale. “

What this “post-training” really will mean in the practice I am sure we know very soon. This story will continue, once I get the lock open 🔓

If you want to get your hands on GPT-4.5 then set up an Azure Subscription with Azure AI Foundry and register your scenario to Microsoft for eligibility check.

Registration is required to use this model: Access will be granted according to Microsoft’s eligibility criteria; you may not be eligible for access at this time. If you have already requested access, thank you for your patience while your submission is reviewed. Request Access here: https://aka.ms/oai/gptaccess

The Secret Behind Mellow Finance’s Explosive TVL Growth

0
The Secret Behind Mellow Finance’s Explosive TVL Growth

In Brief

Mellow Finance’s explosive TVL growth stems from its curated vault model, strong security framework, permissionless vault curation, and ambitious expansion plans, positioning it as a DeFi leader.

At the Hack Seasons Conference, Nick S, Founder of Mellow, shared insights into the success and strategies behind Mellow Finance’s impressive TVL growth. He highlighted the power of their curated vault model, robust security measures, and forward-thinking expansion plans that position Mellow as a leader in DeFi.

Mellow Finance has achieved a TVL milestone, and according to Nick S, the primary driver of this success is the curated vault model. Unlike other DeFi platforms that launch products themselves, Mellow Finance empowers curators to create and manage vaults independently. These curators assume responsibility for asset management and risk mitigation, fostering a decentralized ecosystem of specialized financial products.

Security Measures and Risk Mitigation

Security is critical in DeFi, and Mellow Finance has incorporated numerous levels of safeguards to secure customers’ assets. Nick S described several security strategies, including comprehensive audits with top-tier auditors, collaborations with security experts for external monitoring and risk assessment, and internal monitoring systems that run regular security checks to identify and address vulnerabilities proactively.

Curators have an important role in assessing risks, monitoring slashing mechanisms, and establishing suitable delegation patterns in AVS and shared security networks. Mellow Finance also intends to establish a resolution committee to supervise risk management associated with cutting, providing an additional degree of safety.

The Role of Permissionless Vault Curation

Mellow Finance’s permissionless vault curation methodology is another key driver of its success. This approach allows customers to choose vaults controlled by trusted curators, allowing for greater flexibility and customized financial solutions based on unique needs.

The concept supports user-centric risk management by allowing users to select curators and node operators depending on their risk tolerance. It also encourages deeper company growth within the DeFi ecosystem and boosts user engagement by creating a broad and competitive marketplace for DeFi investors via curators’ autonomous strategy management.

Strengthening the Platform’s Security Framework

Beyond audits and partnerships, Mellow Finance continuously refines its security framework by integrating with reputable security networks. The platform ensures a secure environment for depositors by implementing ongoing security monitoring through internal systems and third-party services, collaborating with trusted partners to fortify infrastructure and prevent potential exploits, and maintaining platform integrity through multi-layered security checks.

Future Expansion and Roadmap

Mellow Finance has ambitious growth objectives, with an emphasis on increasing its array of tools and interfaces for curators. Nick S discussed various planned advancements, including the implementation of a predeposit system with Lido v3, which will move to separate institutional vaults, giving institutions better access to on-chain income. The tech stack extension seeks to provide institutions with a comprehensive set of tools for effectively tapping into multiple income sources like staking, restaking, lending markets, and financing crates.

The addition of a multi-adapter yield layer will allow curators to mix several yield sources to build customized financial solutions for their clients. Mellow Finance is also developing cross-chain vault solutions that will allow Layer 2 users to deposit assets directly while receiving matching tokens on Layer 1 for staking and restaking.

This innovative interoperability strategy is projected to enable smooth yield production across L2s, attract new protocols to Mellow Finance’s ecosystem, and produce additional revenue streams for ecosystem foundations.

Bitcoin’s Decline: How It Stacks Up Against Past Market Corrections – Decrypt

Bitcoin’s Decline: How It Stacks Up Against Past Market Corrections – Decrypt

Bitcoin fell below $80,000 late Thursday evening, extending its decline to 27% from its all-time high of $109,000 reached in January.

The largest crypto by market value has now dropped beneath its 200-day moving average, a key technical indicator often watched by traders to assess long-term trend strength.

The decline follows accelerating outflows from Bitcoin ETFs, which had fueled much of the rally to record highs.

Over the month of February, investors have pulled more than $2 billion from spot Bitcoin ETFs, the most significant weekly outflows since their inception.

Meanwhile, gold ETFs have seen inflows rise, suggesting investors are shifting toward traditional safe-haven assets amid broader macroeconomic uncertainty.

Still, the latest drawdown is relatively mild compared to past Bitcoin cycles.

Historical data shows Bitcoin has experienced at least 16 significant corrections from all-time highs, with declines ranging from 30% to 85% before eventually recovering.

The current downturn mirrors a similar 33% drop between March and August 2024, which took 144 days to reach a new high in November.

More severe declines, such as the 78% plunge in 2021-2022 and the 84% drop in 2018, took significantly longer to recover, with multi-year timelines before fresh highs were reached.

Macro Pressures and Market Shifts

The pullback comes as traders reassess expectations for Federal Reserve interest rate cuts, with persistent inflation data reducing the likelihood of imminent easing.

Higher rates typically weigh on risk assets, including Bitcoin, which rallied in late 2024 partly on expectations of a looser monetary environment.

Market jitters have been compounded by geopolitical tensions following the Trump administration’s decision to impose tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada, which has pressured global financial markets.

A stronger U.S. dollar and declining Treasury yields have all but added further headwinds to Bitcoin’s momentum.

Building on negative sentiment, a more than $1.4 billion security breach on the Bybit exchange last week—the most significant crypto theft in history—has raised concerns about digital asset security, with some analysts linking the event to increased selling pressure.

Despite the correction, Bitcoin’s long-term holders appear to be staying put.

On-chain data indicates that most selling pressure is coming from newer investors, while wallets holding Bitcoin for extended periods remain relatively inactive.

Even still, Bitcoin’s next move remains uncertain. Historically, corrections of this size have taken anywhere from weeks to over a year to recover, depending on macro conditions and market sentiment.

Traders are now closely watching support levels around $75,000 and ETF flows for signs of renewed demand, analysts have told Decrypt.

Justin Timberlake is not bringing “SexyBack” tonight … ’cause he’s got a nasty case of the flu and can’t perform tonight.

The singer-songwriter posted an apology to his Instagram Thursday evening … telling fans he was heartbroken, but he needed to cancel the show in Columbus, Ohio because he couldn’t even get through soundcheck.

Justin Timberlake Cancels Concert in Ohio, Blames Flu

He says it kills him to disappoint his fans and all the members of his team who worked so hard to put the show together … and, he promises everyone will receive refunds for their tickets.

While many online are wishing Justin the best … we’ve heard from a fair few fans who aren’t happy about the last-minute cancellation — especially since this is the second time he hasn’t been able to go on.

Back in November, JT had to cancel a series of shows while dealing with bronchitis and laryngitis — and, one of them was in Columbus, Ohio.

Unclear when JT got the flu … but, clearly he didn’t feel like he could go out and perform tonight. We’ve reached out for clarification on the cancellation, no word back.

Justin might say that as long as he’s got his suit and tie, he’s going to leave it all on the floor … but, it sounds like not even Versace could get him up onstage.

Anthony Mackie Reveals Who He Would Kick Out Of ‘Avengers’ Group Chat

Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie, isn’t afraid to stir the pot when it comes to his MCU co-stars.

In a recent appearance on “First We Feast”’s Hot Ones, Anthony Mackie shared who he’d boot from the “Avengers”‘ group chat.

While answering a question from his “Brave New World” co-star Danny Ramirez, Mackie didn’t hesitate to name Paul Rudd as his first choice. But his reasoning wasn’t about dislike; instead, it was about Rudd’s deceptively sharp wit.

“Paul Rudd. He’s condescending in a smart way, so there’s no way to get back at him. So he’ll tell you something and you don’t realize it is an insult until you’re off the chat. And then there’s no way to come back to it. He just has dismantled you.”

Mackie also added Don Cheadle to the list, though his comments were all in good fun.

He praised Cheadle for his support, especially after attending the “Captain America: Brave New World” premiere to congratulate him.

“Actually, he and Don Cheadle I would kick out of the chat,” Mackie joked. “You know the best thing about the Marvel world, the Marvel universe. It’s like siblings… like going to camp. So everybody chimes in and makes sure that you’re supported. It meant a lot to me, Don Cheadle came to the [‘Captain America: Brave New World’] premiere to tell me congratulations.”

Ramirez, playing along with the banter, quipped, “He didn’t say sh-t to me.”

Mackie, ever the charismatic storyteller, defended his bond with Cheadle, noting, “I’ve known him twenty-two years!”

Sebastian Stanand Anthony Mackie have been fan-favorite co-stars for years, but it turns out their off-screen friendship is just as strong as their on-screen chemistry.

In a recent interview with Variety, Stan confessed that he misses working with Mackie, his co-star from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” While discussing his upcoming film “Thunderbolts,” the 2024 Golden Globe winner couldn’t help but reflect on the absence of his longtime MCU scene partner.

“Let me tell you, it was a much quieter year for me because I didn’t see Anthony Mackie,” Stan joked. “So, I’ll say that. Although I miss Anthony Mackie like daily, and it’s something I don’t like to admit.”

Stan and Mackie have shared the screen as Bucky Barnes (“The Winter Soldier”) and Sam Wilson (“The Falcon”) since “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in 2014. Their dynamic evolved in the 2021 Disney+ series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” where Mackie’s Wilson officially took up the mantle of Captain America following the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Beyond Stan, Mackie also shares strong connections with Chris Evans and Tom Holland, often poking fun at both stars in interviews while maintaining a clear respect and admiration for his colleagues.

Stan and Mackie aren’t the only Marvel duo with an enviable friendship. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, who play Thor and Loki in the MCU, have also developed a strong bond over the years.

Back in 2013, while promoting “Thor: The Dark World,” Hemsworth spoke about his connection with Hiddleston, telling Metro, “From the beginning, we were lucky, we just had a chemistry and the same kind of enthusiasm.”

Hiddleston, always the charismatic one, wrapped an arm around Hemsworth and declared, “I love you, man,” to which Hemsworth playfully responded, “I love you.”

Their camaraderie continued in another interview with On Demand Entertainment, where Hemsworth jokingly declared himself Hiddleston’s biggest fan.

“I lead his fan base. I’m the founding member of that one,” Hemsworth quipped, proving that their brotherly banter extends beyond the big screen.

Mark Ruffalo Says Robert Downey Jr. Is Like The Older Brother He Never Had

      Spread Pictures / MEGA

Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. share a strong friendship both on and off the screen, with Ruffalo recently opening up about how much their bond means to him.

During a Reddit AMA, the “Avengers” star reflected on his relationship with Downey Jr., describing him as the older brother he always wished he had. “We have a really good friendship. We’ve known each other since before Zodiac. And he’s kind of like an older brother that I wish I had,” Ruffalo shared.

Their connection extends beyond just casual friendship—Downey Jr. played a pivotal role in Ruffalo joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When Ruffalo was hesitant about taking on the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers, it was Downey Jr. who helped ease his nerves.

“I reached out to him, I was nervous about it,” Ruffalo recalled. “I said, ‘I don’t know if I can do this,’ and he said, ‘It’s alright buddy, I gotcha.’”

Ruffalo and Downey Jr. played close friends in the Avengers films, and their real-life bond mirrors their on-screen chemistry. Whether it’s supporting each other’s careers or offering words of encouragement, their friendship has stood the test of time, making them one of the most beloved duos in the Marvel franchise.

EastEnders follow-up: As Grant leaves the Square, all we know about return

EastEnders follow-up: As Grant leaves the Square, all we know about return

In tonight’s episode of EastEnders (Thursday, February 27), Grant Mitchell left the Square after a short return stint. But could we see him again?

Grant returned to the Square two weeks ago after a call for help from Nigel regarding his brother Phil.

Tonight, Grant decided it was time to head back to Portugal. Here’s all we know about another potential return.

Grant returned to EastEnders for a short stint (Credit: BBC)

EastEnders: Grant arrives back in the Square

Grant Mitchell returned to EastEnders two weeks ago as part of the show’s 40th anniversary celebrations. He was previously last seen in Albert Square in 2016.

Having received a worrying phone call from his old friend Nigel, Grant came to visit his brother Phil, who has been struggling with his mental health.

He also attended Billy and Honey’s wedding – which ended in disaster after The Vic exploded and killed Martin Fowler.

Grant rescued Sharon from the pub and yesterday’s episode saw the two of them reconnect. After apologising to Sharon for how he’d treated her years ago, Grant and Sharon kissed.

In today’s episode, it was revealed that the two of them had taken it further than just kissing. However, it wasn’t enough to keep Grant hanging around, as he emotionally said goodbye to Sharon and Nigel before heading back to Portugal.

He reunited with old friends (Credit: BBC)

Could Grant make another EastEnders return?

Following confirmation of Grant Mitchell’s return, Ross Kemp revealed on The One Show that he jumped at the chance to come back.

“And yeah, mainly because of just how proud I am of being in something that I think has taken on such really interesting issues, diverse issues and informed the nation and entertained the nation over that period of time, 40 years is a long time. So yeah, I jumped at it,” he explained.

Clearly, Ross still has a lot of love for the show, so another return is a possibility.

Following references to Mark Jr – Grant’s son with Michelle – and the revelation that Mark Jr is now aware who his father is, fans have speculated that there could be a future storyline involving Grant getting to know Mark Jr.

As always, the door has been left open for Ross. And given we know how much he cares for the show – a return is always a possibility.

        Untravelled Planet Steam Review

        0
        Untravelled Planet Steam Review

Untravelled Planet(yesm it is spelled that way) is a Nintendo 64 game in 2025 and unfortunately, not a very good one. It kind of reminds me of Jet Force Gemini without the Rare polish that the game had. You play one of two astronauts who fly to a remote planet, and get shot down by space pirates. You must repair your ship and escape. To do that, you wander around a bare planet, collecting things and shooting pirates, and even delve into the occasional dungeon(more on that in a bit). You start out slow and weak, and over time build upgrades to your suit and weapons. That is all told to you by a penguin thing:

Don’t worry, if you forget, Untravelled Planet will tell you what you are doing again in an un-skippable text cut scene:

Your main goal in Untravelled Planet is to power on ancient technology given to you by the penguin thing, and follow pipes of green energy to stuff to do, like a dungeon, where I got stuck in a room and unable to continue. I couldn’t tell if its an oversight or a bug, but I quit at that point because I got a taste for what the game was, mediocre. It’s not bad, per se. You just walk like you’re in tar. You shoot with a horrible gun with limited ammo and get killed by the pirates easily.

I quit here because there was no way out without falling on spikes.

Untravelled Planet is only six dollars, so I get the lack of budget. But a game with this size and scope just can’t be done on a small budget, otherwise you end up with this pile of mediocrity. There’s nothing here to recommend, so it gets a Not Recommended with a five back-end score. Go play Jet Force Gemini instead.

Overall: Untravelled Planet had big ambitions, but no budget left the game stuck in mediocrity, and it will never leave it.

        Verdict: Not Recommended
