Meredith Gaudreau says she is doing “okay” seven months after the untimely and shocking death of her husband Johnny Gaudreau — and the hockey community is a big part of the reason why.
“These moments help me,” Meredith told ESPN during the intermission at the Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings game on Saturday, March 1. “Everyone makes it really special, makes it enjoyable. And seeing the whole NHL, everything, a special moment for John is so nice to see. And it’s really nice to be a part of and have our whole family be a part of it.”
Meredith went on to say that her late husband’s impact “amazes me” to this day. “It catches me off guard, but I’m like … I get it though. He was so special. And even I was with some of the Detroit wives today and they all were wearing his pin.”
Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were killed by an alleged drunk driver in August 2024 while they were biking in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, just one day before their sister was scheduled to get married.
Meredith and her two children helped lead the Blue Jackets onto the ice during Saturday night’s game. Meredith — who wore a white Blue Jackets letterman-style jacket in honor of her husband — is also pregnant with the pair’s third child.
Johnny’s former teammates also offered their own tribute. The team arrived at the game wearing his “signature fit” — a blue hoodie, black pants, black Ugg boots and a black cap.

“His style was definitely more unique, more laidback,” the team’s defenseman Zach Werenski said via NHL.com on Saturday. “He wore the same stuff all the time. I think that’s what made him in a sense a special person, how laid back he was. Part of that was his style. We just thought it was a great idea to dress like him.”
Meredith was also in on the plan and helped the team source everything they needed for the big reveal. The team’s captain Boone Jenner told NHL.com Meredith “helped us a lot with pictures” and she also managed to get the required sweatshirts from the Avalon Surf Shop in Avalon, New Jersey.
“When we see these outfits we think of him and it reminds us of him,” Jenner also said. “It’s very special to us. We wanted to make sure we put the right pieces in to honor him the right way, the whole fit. I think it’s a good tribute the way it’s done. It’s not hockey equipment, just street clothes, more the person he was and the good memories we have.”

In the interview, The Substance star opened up about visiting a friend who recently had a child shortly after she and Jack started dating. She admitted that she snapped photos of herself in a wedding dress, while holding a baby.

She confessed that she was excited to have many milestones with the “Modern Girl” singer, but she wants to take her time.

The First Descendant is about to become even more charming with the arrival of new canine companions in the game’s future update, which will be released on March 13. Following the popularity of Fellow, the beloved German Shepherd-inspired companion introduced in Season 2, developer Nexon is making good on its promise to add more four-legged buddies to the sci-fi looter shooter.
The upcoming addition, a rumored Retriever companion, has fans buzzing with anticipation as they prepare to team up with a new buddy in the game’s vast worlds. The new companion has finally been revealed by Nexon and he’s called Vespers Hunting Dog who is arriving with the update.

The official First Descendant X account posted the image of the upcoming companion called Vespers Hunting Dog who has been revealed as a male Golden Retriever dog. The image featured a portrait of the dog with his tongue out and the word “Heh” written next to the “good boy” to resemble a meme.

According to leaks, the dog is described as a loyal and fierce companion, is supposed to help players scavenge loot and provide tactical support during battle, especially in the Vespers region of the game, similar to Fellow’s popular auto-dismantle and item-pickup abilities. Nexon has teased that Vespers The Hunting Dog will include unique customization choices such as fur colors and accessories, allowing players to tailor their trusty buddy.
As The First Descendant progresses, these canine friends are proving to be more than simply cosmetics as they’re changing the way players approach objectives and manage resources. With the March 13 update quickly approaching, a bunch of stuff has already been revealed to be added in the Season 2 Episode 2 patch. DTTM Operations, the company handling U.S. President Donald Trump’s intellectual property rights, has filed a trademark application related to NFTs and the metaverse.
The application, submitted on February 24, includes digital and virtual technologies. It covers software for managing cryptocurrency transactions, smart contracts, and market analysis secured by NFTs.
It also mentions software for minting, collecting, and verifying NFTs, along with tools for authenticating digital images, videos, and certificates.
Additionally, the filing includes digital representations of clothing, footwear, eyewear, and accessories for use in virtual spaces. It also details an online marketplace for NFT-authenticated assets, as well as stores offering both virtual and physical goods, including collectibles, real estate, and branded merchandise.
This move could expand Trump’s involvement in Web3. His first NFT collection, launched in 2022, featured trading cards depicting him in various roles. The series continued with three more releases in 2023 and 2024, some including real-world perks for holders, such as a dinner event at Mar-a-Lago, his private estate.

What is Abstract Chain?
Abstract is an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, developed by Igloo Inc. which launched in January 2025.
The Abstract Chain is the inaugural new project from the Igloo Inc. company. Its aim is to create “the dominant consumer crypto chain”, where “culture & community building and dedicated builder & brand support” are central to how the chain is built, developed and maintained.
Abstract utilises zero-knowledge technology from zkSync and EigenDA to make this consumer-focused approach a reality. As an Ethereum L2, Abstract also inherits Ethereum‘s well-known security, reliability and decentralisation.
The Abstract Chain will be powered in future by a native token – though details on this token, including the ticker, have yet to be revealed. The history of Abstract Chain
Abstract was officially announced when Igloo acquired Frame in June 2024. This move saw development on the Frame blockchain come to a close, with their talented team joining Cube Labs and Pudgy Penguins to build Abstract Chain.
As 2024 progressed, anticipation for Abstract grew to a fever pitch. Influencers changed their avatar backgrounds to Abstract’s signature green. Popular games – such as ChronoForge – announced that they would migrate to Abstract. Popular apps, tools and services announced that they would support Abstract on launch – such as Magic Eden.
Hype grew further after the launch of $PENGU – the official token of Pudgy Penguins – in December 2024, as many saw Abstract as the Pudgy blockchain.
Abstract held its mainnet launch on January 27, 2025 – but the debut saw mixed results.
Many users had core concerns, such as a lack of contract security scanners, failing RPCs, and unexpected Ethereum gas fees. Some even claimed that popular relayer tools did not work with Abstract, leading to lost funds – with one user stating that Abstract “was not ready to be launched.”

Singer Liam tragically died in October 2024 aged just 31 after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Over a month after his death, Liam was laid to rest in November in Amersham.

The biggest night in UK music, the BRITS, made its return to screens on Saturday night (March 2) live from the O2 Arena – with Jack Whitehall back at the helm.
Remembering Liam, Jack said: “We have so many amazing memories of Liam here at the BRITs.
“So tonight we celebrate his legacy, look back and remember the remarkable Liam Payne,” he added.

Liam’s bandmate Louis Tomlinson also reacted to the tribute at the 2025 BRIT Awards.
On X, he wrote: “Thank you @BRITS. Beautiful tribute. Miss you always brother x.”
Following Liam’s funeral, where his One Direction members —Harry Styles, Louis, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik — all attended, there was speculation whether the group would reunite for a tribute at the BRITs.
However, last month, The Sun revealed that the group rejected the idea of forming a reunion as it was decided it was “too much” for them.
