Most Celebrated Cartier Designs: Iconic Jewelry and Timepieces

For over a century, Cartier has been synonymous with luxury, elegance, and impeccable craftsmanship. The French maison has created some of the world’s most recognizable and coveted jewelry and timepieces, each bearing the unmistakable signature of Cartier’s distinctive design philosophy.

From innovative watches to revolutionary jewelry concepts, Cartier’s creations have adorned royalty, celebrities, and discerning collectors worldwide.

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is hosting a landmark Cartier exhibition until 16 November 2025, showcasing over 350 pieces from Cartier’s extraordinary legacy. The exhibition underscores Cartier’s unique position at the intersection of art, craftsmanship, and cultural history. Several of the iconic Cartier designs below are on display there.

1. Cartier Tank Watch

The Tank watch is perhaps Cartier’s most enduring and recognizable timepiece. Created by Louis Cartier in 1917, the design was inspired by the horizontal profile of military tanks used during World War I.

With its rectangular case, clean lines, and Roman numeral dial, the Tank embodies elegant simplicity and timeless modernity. Throughout its century-plus history, this celebrity watch has been worn by luminaries including Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, and countless other style icons.

Available in multiple variations including the Tank Louis Cartier, Tank Française, Tank Américaine, and Tank Solo, this iconic design continues to be reinvented while maintaining its essential character.

2. Cartier Love Bracelet

Designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969, the Love bracelet revolutionized the concept of luxury jewelry with its bold, modernist aesthetic and unique concept. The bracelet, which literally locks onto the wearer’s wrist and can only be removed with a special screwdriver, was designed as a symbol of committed love.

Its minimalist oval shape adorned with screw motifs created an entirely new jewelry language that rejected the ornate styles of previous eras. The Love bracelet has since become Cartier’s most successful collection and one of the most recognizable pieces of jewelry in the world, inspiring numerous imitations but never equaled in its cultural significance.

3. Juste Un Clou Bracelet

Another Aldo Cipullo creation, the Juste Un Clou (“Just a Nail”) bracelet transformed an ordinary object into a luxury statement piece. Designed in the 1970s during New York’s vibrant creative renaissance, this bold bracelet reimagines a simple construction nail as an elegant, continuous gold band that wraps around the wrist.

The design perfectly captured the era’s edgy creativity while maintaining Cartier’s signature elegance. After being reintroduced to the market in 2012, the Juste Un Clou collection has expanded to include rings, necklaces, and earrings, all preserving the original’s subversive luxury aesthetic.

4. Halo Tiara

Featuring in the current V&A Exhibition, the Halo Tiara represents Cartier’s mastery of royal commissions. Created in 1936 for the Duke of York (later King George VI) to give to his wife (later known as the Queen Mother), this tiara achieved global recognition when Kate Middleton wore it on her wedding day to Prince William in 2011.

The platinum tiara features 739 brilliant-cut diamonds and 149 baguette-cut diamonds arranged in a series of scrolls. Its geometric yet feminine design perfectly exemplifies the Art Deco aesthetic Cartier helped define, with its clean lines and mathematical precision creating a halo of light around the wearer’s face.

The piece demonstrates this French luxury brand’s unparalleled skill in working with platinum, a material the house pioneered in jewelry making.

5. Panthère de Cartier

The panther has been Cartier’s signature animal since 1914, when Louis Cartier commissioned a painting titled “Dame à la panthère” featuring his lover Jeanne Toussaint, who later became Cartier’s creative director and was nicknamed “La Panthère.” Under Toussaint’s direction, the panther became a recurring motif across Cartier’s collections.

The first three-dimensional Cartier panther was created in 1948 for the Duchess of Windsor. Since then, the sleek, powerful feline has appeared in countless Cartier creations, from watches to brooches, rings, and necklaces.

The Panthère watch, with its flexible gold link bracelet designed to mimic the fluid movement of the animal, became particularly iconic in the 1980s and remains a beloved design following its 2017 relaunch.

6. Tutti Frutti Collection

The vibrant Tutti Frutti collection represents Cartier’s most exuberant and colorful design expression. Created in the 1920s and 1930s, these pieces feature carved emeralds, rubies, and sapphires in the shapes of leaves, berries, and flowers, arranged in lush, colorful compositions.

Inspired by Indian Mughal jewelry following Jacques Cartier’s visits to India, the Tutti Frutti designs (originally called “fruit salad”) became symbols of exotic luxury during the Art Deco period. These intricate creations showcase Cartier’s masterful gemstone carving techniques and bold color combinations.

Though vintage Tutti Frutti pieces command extraordinary prices at auction, Cartier continues to create new interpretations of this joyful, nature-inspired design language.

7. Crash Watch

Perhaps Cartier’s most surreal creation, the Crash watch features an asymmetrical, melted case shape that defies conventional watchmaking aesthetics. Created in 1967 by Cartier London, the design was reportedly inspired by a Cartier watch that had been damaged in a car accident and warped by fire.

The distorted form evokes Salvador Dalí‘s melting clocks, though Cartier developed the design independently of the surrealist movement. Produced in extremely limited quantities, the Crash has become one of the most collectible and valuable Cartier watches.

Its unconventional design was decades ahead of its time and continues to stand out in the world of luxury timepieces for its artistic daring.

8. Santos de Cartier Watch

The Santos watch holds the distinction of being one of the world’s first purpose-designed wristwatches. It was created in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his friend, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.

This timepiece was designed to allow the pilot to check the time while flying without removing his hands from the controls. Its distinctive square case with exposed screws, sword-shaped hands, and Roman numerals established a design language that remains instantly recognizable.

The Santos collection has evolved over the decades but maintains its aviation heritage and pioneering spirit, representing Cartier’s perfect balance of function and elegant design.

9. Mystery Clocks

Another highlight from the V&A Exhibition, Cartier’s Mystery Clocks represent some of the house’s most ingenious technical achievements. First created in 1912, these remarkable timepieces feature hands that appear to float in transparent crystal with no visible connection to any movement.

This illusion was achieved through a secret mechanism where the hands are mounted on transparent crystal discs driven by gears hidden in the frame. Often incorporating carved jade, rock crystal, or other precious materials, these clocks combined horological innovation with artistic virtuosity.

The Mystery Clocks displayed at the V&A Exhibition showcased Cartier’s collaboration with master clockmaker Maurice Couët and demonstrated how the house elevated timekeeping to an art form during the early 20th century.

Final Thoughts on the Most Iconic Cartier Designs

From transforming utilitarian objects like nails and screws into luxury statements to creating timepieces that defy conventional design rules, Cartier’s creative legacy continues to influence the worlds of jewelry and watchmaking. Each iconic design reflects not just exceptional craftsmanship, but the maison’s willingness to challenge conventions while maintaining an unmistakable aesthetic identity that has captivated the world for generations.

FIFA Is Launching Its Own Blockchain for NFTs—Here’s What That Means | NFT News Today

FIFA Is Launching Its Own Blockchain for NFTs—Here’s What That Means | NFT News Today

FIFA is taking a big leap into Web3. On April 30, the world’s governing body for football announced it’s creating its own blockchain network to power the official FIFA Collect platform, where fans can snap up football-themed NFTs and limited-edition collectibles. This new “FIFA Blockchain” will replace the third-party networks FIFA has used in the past, and it’ll become the home base for all future digital assets and interactive fan experiences.

If you’re already into FIFA’s digital collectibles—or thinking about diving in—here’s what you need to know about this transition.

The Basics: What’s Changing, and When?

Starting no earlier than May 20, 2025, FIFA will begin migrating FIFA Collect onto its new blockchain. During that time, FIFA Collect will be offline for about 12 hours, so everything can move smoothly.

Good news: If you already own NFTs on FIFA Collect, they’ll transfer automatically at no extra cost. You don’t have to do anything.

One catch: If you exported any of your collectibles to an external wallet, you’ll have to move them back onto the FIFA Collect platform by May 20 to be sure they migrate. FIFA will temporarily reopen the “import” feature. If you miss the deadline, you’ll still be able to bring your items over eventually, but you may have to go through extra steps with customer support.

Wallet Upgrades (and Changes)

FIFA’s new blockchain will be EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible, opening up the door to use popular wallets like MetaMask. On the flip side, wallets running on Algorand—such as Pera or Defly—won’t be supported anymore. If you’re currently using those, you’ll need to switch over to a compatible wallet before the migration.

Source FIFA Collect

USDC Balances and Listed NFTs

If you have USDC (USD Coin) in your FIFA Collect account, you can keep spending it right up until the migration. Afterwards, any leftover balance can still be withdrawn, but you won’t be able to spend it on the platform anymore.

Already put up any of your collectibles for sale on FIFA Collect? You’re all set. Those listings will carry over to the new network automatically unless you choose to delist them before the move.

Why Is FIFA Doing This?

According to FIFA, the new blockchain is designed to “support new experiences, enable wallet compatibility, and provide stronger foundations for future innovation.”

Building its own blockchain means FIFA has more control over every aspect of its Web3 ecosystem. Rather than relying on outside networks (like Algorand or Polygon) to handle rules, updates, or new features, FIFA will be in the driver’s seat. This could open the door to things like Gamified collectibles and Blockchain-based ticketing.

Owning the entire infrastructure also gives FIFA a clear view of how fans are engaging—what they’re buying, how often they use the platform, and where they spend money. That data could be a goldmine for partnerships and new kinds of fan experiences.

However, FIFA still has some explaining to do about how it’ll address common Web3 concerns—like security and user privacy. And since the organization has tried a few blockchains in the past, this new move signals a commitment to longer-term stability.

Final Thought

For most collectors, you’ll wake up, the migration will be done, and all your NFTs will still be right where you left them (unless you need to bring them in from an external wallet).

But for FIFA, it’s a major behind-the-scenes shake-up—and a statement about its dedication to Web3.

Met Gala 2025: From Basement Balls to Billion-Dollar Red Carpets

Met Gala 2025: From Basement Balls to Billion-Dollar Red Carpets

It began with a velvet-draped charity ball in a New York department store basement in 1948—not yet a global spectacle, but the seed of what would bloom into the Met Gala: fashion’s most theatrical, opulent, and talked-about night. Fast-forward to 2025, and the Met Gala is no longer just an annual fundraiser; it’s a cultural moment, a red carpet battlefield, and a brand goldmine.

This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” is presented through the lens of the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, and it pays tribute to the enduring impact of Black style. This includes a powerful nod to Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, which explores how fashion has long served as both armor and articulation for the Black diaspora. And with Louis Vuitton as the lead sponsor, the fusion of heritage, haute couture, and high-stakes branding has never been more potent.

The Timeline of Transformation: From Modest to Monumental

1948: Eleanor Lambert, America’s fashion publicist extraordinaire, founded the Costume Institute Gala as a way to raise funds and visibility. Held in humble settings, it was more debutante ball than dazzling runway.

1971: The Met Gala became an annual tradition, tied directly to the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

1973: The theme The World of Balenciaga marks the first official exhibition under Diana Vreeland, ushering in a new era of themed fashion storytelling.

1981: The Eighteenth-Century Woman theme established historical costume as a central concept of the Gala’s identity.

1995: Anna Wintour takes the reins. Under her watch, the Met Gala becomes what it is today: exclusive, global, and utterly influential. This year’s theme was Haute Couture.

1999: Rock Style bridges music and fashion cultures, bringing pop and rock stars into the spotlight.

2004: Dangerous Liaisons: Fashion and Furniture in the 18th Century adds multidimensional historical interpretation.

2011: Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty draws record-breaking crowds and emotional tributes, affirming the Gala’s power.

2013: PUNK: Chaos to Couture mixes rebellion with runway, celebrating fashion as disruption.

2015: China: Through the Looking Glass sparks conversations about cultural appropriation and representation in fashion.

2018: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination becomes the most attended exhibition in Met history, with jaw-dropping red carpet moments.

2019: Camp: Notes on Fashion channels Susan Sontag’s essay into a rainbow-colored red carpet of exaggeration and irony.

2021: In America: A Lexicon of Fashion re-centers American designers and identity politics in post-pandemic fashion.

2022: In America: An Anthology of Fashion continues the conversation with a focus on forgotten designers and untold stories.

2023: Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty honors the controversial icon with both admiration and critique.

2024: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion uses technology to animate archival garments and asks what it means to preserve ephemeral beauty.

2025: With Superfine: Tailoring Black Style and its nod to Black style and diasporic identity, the event returns to its roots as both art exhibit and cultural commentary.

Stitches of Culture: Fashion as Resistance, Identity, and Power

This year’s thematic depth goes beyond dreamy aesthetics. The exhibit draws from Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, which reframes fashion not as frivolity but as resistance.

Think Pharrell in pearl-studded suits, Janelle Monáe in Afrofuturistic tuxedos, or Colman Domingo redefining masculinity in couture — all echoing the sartorial lineage of icons like Duke Ellington or Diahann Carroll. Tailoring becomes armor. Style becomes storytelling.

The Book Behind the Theme: Slaves to Fashion

To truly understand the soul of Met Gala 2025, look no further than Monica L. Miller’s seminal 2009 work, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. This isn’t just a fashion book—it’s a cultural manifesto.

In it, Miller explores how Black men across history have used sharp dressing as a form of resistance, reinvention, and rebellion. From the colonial Caribbean to contemporary America, the “Black dandy” reclaims the tools of colonial oppression—tailored suits, silk cravats, polished shoes—and turns them into symbols of autonomy and defiance.

Her research uncovers how clothing becomes a political language. It’s not about vanity; it’s about visibility. These style choices dismantle stereotypes, challenge notions of respectability, and create space for Black identity in elite and often exclusionary spaces.

The 2025 Met Gala and its exhibition, Superfine, draw heavily from this intellectual framework. They celebrate not just the aesthetics of dandyism, but the deeper implications of Black self-styling as art, protest, and pride. By spotlighting Miller’s scholarship, the Met is signaling that fashion isn’t just fabric—it’s theory, history, and transformation stitched into every seam.

The Star Power: Why the Guest List is More Than Just Glitter

The Met Gala 2025 isn’t just a who’s-who of fashion—it’s a masterclass in cultural influence. The guest list is famously hush-hush until the night of, but this year, with a theme like Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, expect a guest roster that reflects both style and substance.

Among the confirmed co-chairs:

Pharrell Williams – Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Creative Director, a longtime champion of Black style and streetwear luxe. His presence fuses fashion, music, and cultural leadership.
Colman Domingo – The actor known for his regal red-carpet presence and fearless fashion choices, Domingo is tailor-made (pun intended) for this theme.
A$AP Rocky – Hip-hop’s most stylish tastemaker. His love for bold tailoring, experimental fits, and luxury heritage brands makes him a living mood board.
Lewis Hamilton – Formula 1 icon with a side hustle in high fashion, known for using his global platform to speak on race, identity, and representation.
Anna Wintour & LeBron James – Two culture-defining titans bringing editorial clout and social resonance to the mix.

And that’s just the front row.

Expect appearances from global icons like:

Rihanna – Often the unofficial MVP of the Met, whose fashion moments become instant cultural history.
Zendaya – A sartorial chameleon who transforms every theme into an editorial.
Burna Boy, Tems, and Wizkid – Bringing Afrofuturism and contemporary African tailoring into the spotlight.
Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra Jonas – Showcasing India’s role in global luxury and red-carpet couture.
BLACKPINK’s Rosé or Jennie – South Korean stars merging K-pop, streetwear, and high fashion for a new global language.
Shah Rukh Khan, making his Met Gala debut in custom Sabyasachi couture, bringing Indian regality to a global stage.

SRK’s presence is a big deal. Not just because he’s Bollywood royalty with global appeal, but because he bridges the East and West in a way few can. Draped in Sabyasachi—India’s leading couturier known for weaving heritage into haute couture—Shah Rukh’s appearance symbolizes the arrival (and recognition) of South Asian craftsmanship on one of fashion’s most elite stages.

It’s not just about representation—it’s about reverence. When a man from Delhi in a Bengal-born designer’s ensemble walks the Met steps alongside Parisian tailoring and New York minimalism, it reminds the world that fashion is no longer Eurocentric—it’s everywhere.

Why Their Presence Changes Everything

These celebrities aren’t just attendees. They’re cultural translators. Their fashion choices ripple through industries—from fast fashion to haute couture, from New York to New Delhi. When they show up in custom pieces rooted in Black tailoring, they amplify the exhibition’s message across continents.

They don’t just wear clothes. They embody narratives—of reclaiming heritage, bending gender norms, or challenging Eurocentric beauty standards. This year’s red carpet is a runway and a revolution.

And with Louis Vuitton dressing many of these stars, their looks become more than red-carpet wins—they become moments of branded storytelling. For LV, it’s a PR dream with a PhD in cultural strategy.

Louis Vuitton’s Sponsorship: A Strategic Power Play

So where does Louis Vuitton come in? Right at the center of the cultural crosshairs.

By sponsoring the 2025 Met Gala and its accompanying exhibition, LV isn’t just flexing its financial muscle—it’s aligning its brand with a deeper cultural dialogue. Under Pharrell Williams’ creative direction, the maison has embraced a new vision: one that blends streetwear attitude with bespoke craftsmanship.

This year’s theme fits that narrative like a perfectly tailored suit.

LV’s investment here is about:

Cultural credibility: Aligning with the Black diaspora’s influence on luxury fashion.
High-fashion innovation: With Williams, LV pushes the boundaries of luxury while respecting its legacy.
Global resonance: Merging street culture with haute couture allows LV to maintain relevance in a rapidly evolving market.

And while LV is a fashion powerhouse, this sponsorship also signals a larger shift: that luxury fashion is no longer solely dictated by the West—it’s shaped by cultural movements, artists, and trailblazers from every corner of the globe.

How the Met Gala Impacts Luxury Fashion—and Luxury Resale

The Met Gala has always been a trendsetter, and it’s no surprise that its influence trickles down to the wider luxury market, including luxury resale. The red carpet effect drives demand for iconic pieces, from limited-edition bags to one-of-a-kind couture.

When stars walk the carpet in vintage looks or brand-new pieces, resale platforms like The Luxury Closet experience a noticeable uptick in searches and sales for similar items. People want to recreate the looks they’ve seen on their favorite celebrities—and thanks to the booming market for pre-owned luxury, they can.

More specifically:

Celebrity-Driven Resale: When fashion icons wear rare vintage pieces or brands like LV, collectors and fashion enthusiasts flock to resale platforms to secure their own versions. This fuels demand for archival pieces, making them more valuable.
Timeless Pieces Reimagined: As celebrities increasingly wear classics like vintage Chanel, Hermès, or Dior, these items gain new life in resale, becoming even more coveted.
Price Evolution: The Met Gala’s influence can even affect pricing trends in resale markets. An item seen at the Gala often experiences a surge in resale value, especially if it’s linked to the exhibition’s theme, like Black tailoring this year.

Ultimately, the Met Gala doesn’t just influence fashion—it creates a ripple effect that extends all the way into the second-hand luxury market. It reminds us that fashion is cyclical, and every red carpet is a signal to the world of what’s to come next.

Unlike typical large language models (LLMs), Mellum is specifically optimized for coding. The company focused on creating a smaller and more efficient model that minimizes latency, providing developers with almost instant code suggestions. This makes Mellum more effective than many third-party models currently on the market.

Mellum supports code completion for a range of programming languages, including Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, PHP, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, Rust, and Ruby.

With 4 billion parameters, Mellum is a multilingual model specifically that has been benchmarked across various datasets and languages, and extensive human evaluations have been conducted within JetBrains’ integrated development environments (IDEs). The current version of Mellum available on Hugging Face is intended for use by AI/ML researchers—particularly those examining AI’s role in software development, model benchmarking, or interpretability. It also serves as a foundation for AI/ML engineers and educators who are interested in learning how to build, fine-tune, or adapt domain-specific language models, or who are looking to support educational programs centered around LLM architecture and specialization.

JetBrains’ Mellum Integration Powers AI Assistant With Enhanced Code Completion Performance

Since Mellum has been integrated into AI Assistant to power code completion, it has produced notable improvements. Completion latency has been reduced to a third of its previous time, indicating a substantial decrease in the time needed to complete tasks. The acceptance rate of completion suggestions driven by the Mellum AI model stands at around 40%, which is considered a solid benchmark in the industry. Additionally, the cancel rate has decreased by three to four times compared to the earlier version of AI Assistant. Furthermore, the total number of completion suggestions displayed has more than doubled when compared to the previous version.

JetBrains is known for its specialization in creating intelligent tools for software developers and teams. It is particularly recognized for its IDEs that support a wide range of programming languages. One of JetBrains’ major contributions to the software development field is Kotlin, a statically typed programming language designed to run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

$364 Million Lost in April to Crypto Hacks, Scams: CertiK – Decrypt

4 Million Lost in April to Crypto Hacks, Scams: CertiK – Decrypt

New CertiK estimates suggest about $364 million was lost through crypto hacks, scams and exploits in April alone.

The cybersecurity firm says the vast majority of this total, $337 million, is related to phishing attacks.

And most of these illicit gains were generated from a single incident, after sophisticated social engineering tactics were used to steal 3,520 BTC from a wallet.

According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, the funds were quickly laundered through at least six instant exchanges and swapped for Monero, causing XMR’s price to surge by 50%.

On Wednesday, ZachXBT confirmed that the victim was “an elderly individual in the U.S.” who had held onto the crypto since 2017.

Other notable incidents across April included a $7.5 million attack on the decentralized exchange KiloEX, which was linked to a “price oracle exploit.”

A further $5.8 million was stolen from Loopscale, with over $5 million drained from an airdrop contract belonging to Ethereum scaling protocol ZKsync.

According to CertiK, all three of these crypto platforms have managed to recoup funds from white-hat hackers.

April’s data is a marked jump from the $28.8 million in losses confirmed in March. But it pales in comparison to the record-breaking $1.5 billion stolen in February, when Bybit was targeted in an audacious hack by North Korean hacking outfit Lazarus Group.

CertiK’s findings come days after its co-founder Ronghui Gu warned that the security challenges facing blockchain remain “severe,” despite this technology becoming “critical global financial infrastructure” in recent years.

He noted that $1.67 billion was stolen by malicious actors between January and March—a quarter-on-quarter increase of 303%—with most attacks targeting the Ethereum ecosystem.

The cyber security firm says phishing attacks are still on the rise, meaning crypto businesses and investors must take extra care in verifying whether URLs and smart contracts are authentic before transfers are made.

Other top tips include utilizing cold storage that’s disconnected from the internet, and not sharing information about crypto holdings on social media.
