    ‘Waitress: The Musical’ (2023)

    This Broadway adaptation of the Keri Russell romantic dramedy has even more delicious heart than the original. When diner waitress and master pie baker Jenna (Sara Bareilles, who also wrote the music for the show) finds herself pregnant, she decides to save up and enter a pie contest to escape her abusive husband Earl (Joe Tippett). Her best friends Dawn (Caitlin Houlahan) and Becky (Charity Angél Dawson) encourage her along the way. But things get a little more complicated when, much to her surprise, she ends up having an affair with her kind and understanding OB/GYN, Dr. Pomatter (Drew Gehling).

    Jenna’s pregnancy helps her discover strength she never imagined she had. The songs are irresistibly funny and catchy in one moment and heartbreakingly beautiful in the next. Waitress: The Musical will leave you hungry for more — and for a slice of pie.

    ‘The Princess Bride’ (1987)

    To paraphrase one of the dozens of quotable lines in The Princess Bride, there’s a shortage of perfect movies in the world. It would be a pity to miss this one.

    The Princess Bride is a practically perfect story, featuring fencing, fighting, horseback riding, “true love, miracles” and Rodents of Unusual Size. A framing device serves up the wonderful backdrop for this swashbuckling tale — a grandfather (Peter Falk) reading a story to his grandson (Fred Savage) while he’s home sick from school. Gramps shares the story of Buttercup (Robin Wright), a beautiful but spoiled maiden, and Westley (Cary Elwes), the farmboy who wins her heart.

    When the evil Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) kidnaps Buttercup, Westley teams up with master swordsman Inigo (Mandy Patinkin) and giant Fezzik (André the Giant) to rescue his true love. It’s funny, charming and romantic. Not loving this movie is “inconceivable.”

    ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ (2009)

    He’s Just Not That Into You is based on a book, which is itself based on a line of dialogue from an episode of Sex and the City. The movie’s sprawling origin story feels relevant to its plot, which features a large ensemble cast of interconnected characters. Each couple (or trio or quartet) includes one person who is much more invested in the relationship than the other — an imbalance that almost any viewer can relate to.

    The connective thread is Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin), a hopeless romantic who is constantly pursuing disinterested men. When she meets Alex (Justin Long), an aloof bartender, he begins giving her advice about how to interpret signals from guys. Meanwhile, their friends and coworkers are stuck in their own romantic entanglements. The impressive cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Connelly, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore and Kevin Connolly.

    ‘Mamma Mia!’ (2008)

    ABBA + Meryl Streep + stunning Greek island vistas = perfection. This movie version of the jukebox musical is a sparkling, effervescent affair about Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), a young woman desperate to learn the identity of her father before her wedding to Sky (Dominic Cooper). But her mother Donna (Streep) doesn’t know exactly who Sophie’s father is. There are three candidates — Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgård) or Harry (Colin Firth). Certain that she’ll know her dad as soon as she meets him, Sophie invites all three men to the wedding.

    What follows is a farcical romantic musical comedy full of stellar choreography, funny dialogue and a sweet message about true love — for a partner but also for yourself. Christine Baranski and Julie Walters are particularly delightful as Donna’s best friends and former bandmates who help her as she tries to balance her unexpected reunion with her three exes and her daughter’s upcoming nuptials.

    ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ (2018)

    Crazy Rich Asians was groundbreaking for the mainstream spotlight it placed on Asian (particularly Chinese) characters and actors. It features stars like Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh, Gemma Chan and Awkwafina in a love story about class, wealth and culture.

    Rachel (Wu) is a New York economics professor happily in love with Nick Young (Henry Golding). When Nick takes Rachel to Singapore for the wedding of his best friend, Rachel learns that Nick’s family is part of Singapore’s wealthy high society. Not only are Nick and Rachel constantly in the public eye, Nick’s mother Eleanor (Yeoh) has incredibly high expectations about who her son should marry. Rachel, as a middle-class American, meets none of those expectations.

    Rachel has to fight for love and the future she wants in this movie, which features fantastic fashion, eye-catching settings and a soundtrack with music by Asian artists like Jasmine Chen. Rachel is an engaging, relatable protagonist who you’ll root for every step of the way.

    ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (2012)

    A charming examination of love amid mental health issues, Silver Linings Playbook is a must-see romantic comedy that’s both heart-wrenching and heartwarming. Pat (Bradley Cooper) has recently completed a stint in a psychiatric facility after a violent episode when he caught his ex-wife Nikki (Brea Bee) cheating on him. Desperate to reconcile, Pat moves in with his parents, Patrizio Sr. and Dolores (Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver).

    He meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a widow who is also dealing with mental health problems. She encourages Pat to compete with her in a ballroom dance contest to prove to Nikki that he’s changed. Unfortunately, Patrizio Sr.’s gambling problem and obsession with the Eagles cause him to pressure his son and drive a wedge between him and Tiffany. (Patrizio superstitiously believes Pat’s attention to Eagles games is necessary for the team to win.)

    The tension is near constant in this pressure cooker of a movie, yet it still manages to deliver laughs. Lawrence, De Niro and Cooper make deeply flawed characters extremely likable, while the family dynamics are complex and relatable. If you’ve ever felt like your family is about to drive you off the deep end, this movie is for you.

    ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ (2002)

    Toula (Nia Vardalos) is a shy, awkward woman who has always felt like an outsider in her loud, effusive Greek American family. When she falls in love with WASP-y teacher Ian (John Corbett), she struggles to get her family to accept him. Throughout the movie, she learns to stand up for herself and the man she loves, but she also learns to appreciate the rich culture that makes her family unique. It’s a heartwarming, hilarious story.

    Despite being over twenty years old, My Big Fat Greek Wedding remains the highest-grossing rom-com of all time — and rightfully so. The script, written by lead actress Vardalos, is instantly quotable and emotionally resonant. More importantly, Toula and Ian’s romance is endlessly endearing. The movie spawned two sequels in 2016 and 2023, but the original remains the best of the bunch.

    ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ (2001)

    Based on the bestselling 1996 novel, this sharp and hilarious rom-com follows Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger), an ordinary “singleton” with a habit of ending up in ridiculously awkward situations, as she documents her quest for self-improvement in a wine-soaked diary. Caught between smug married friends and the pressures of turning 30, Bridget navigates the chaos of modern womanhood with humor and heart.

    Things get even messier when she begins a flirtation with her charming scoundrel of a boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), and keeps crossing paths with the uptight but oddly endearing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), who harbors an unexplained grudge against Daniel. Loosely inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones’s Diary is an entertaining chronicle of its title heroine’s journey of growth, misjudged first impressions and realizing that love rarely goes according to plan.

    Bitcoin and XRP Volatility: How Much Could They Move During ‘Sell in May’?

    Bitcoin and XRP Volatility: How Much Could They Move During ‘Sell in May’?

    In traditional finance, the phrase “Sell in May and go away” reflects a strategy of exiting markets in May to avoid the summer lull. But does this approach hold true in the world of cryptocurrencies? Especially for leading assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ripple (XRP), historical data and current market volatility suggest a far more complex picture.

    Historical Trends: “Sell in May” in the Crypto Market

    Since Bitcoin emerged as a mainstream financial asset, May has consistently been a month worth watching. Reliable data from StatMuse and Binance reveals that in May 2017, Bitcoin surpassed the $2,000 mark for the first time, rising from approximately $1,348 to $2,286. However, not every May has delivered gains. In 2018, BTC fell nearly 20%, dropping from $9,200 to $7,494. The most dramatic correction occurred in May 2021, when the price plunged from $58,000 to just $37,332 amid China’s crackdown on crypto mining.

    Historical Trends: “Sell in May” in the Crypto Market

    Source: TradingView

    XRP posted a 15% gain, rising from $0.45 to $0.52, driven by optimism surrounding the Ripple v. SEC lawsuit and a general altcoin recovery.

    However, in May 2024, XRP moved sideways in the $0.52–$0.55 range, reflecting investor caution during the lawsuit’s final stages. Liquidity declined slightly, and the price failed to break out despite signs of recovery across the altcoin sector. This underscores how heavily XRP depends on news-driven catalysts rather than technical setups or short-term speculative inflows.

    May 2024: On-Chain Data and Derivatives Activity

    In early May 2024, the market observed a notable increase in the amount of Bitcoin transferred from cold wallets to exchanges, according to data from Glassnode. This is a classic signal of potential profit-taking, especially as BTC had just touched the $67,000 mark at the end of April.

    Meanwhile, the funding rate – a measure of the difference between derivatives prices and spot prices – turned negative on major platforms such as Binance and OKX. This shift indicates that speculative sentiment has tilted toward short-term bearish expectations.

    Despite this, institutional capital remains steady. Spot Bitcoin ETFs, including BlackRock’s iShares and Fidelity Advantage, have not experienced significant outflows. This supports the view that most selling pressure is coming from retail investors and short-term traders, while long-term holders continue to view BTC as a store of value amid persistent inflation.

    Seasonality is another important factor. Data cited by Matrixport shows that Bitcoin historically underperforms in May, with average returns skewing negative across several years. This seasonal trend reinforces a more defensive market posture, especially as global financial markets remain under pressure from inflation and prolonged monetary tightening.

    Some analysts warn that the “Sell in May” effect could resurface strongly this year unless a clear macroeconomic catalyst emerges in the short term.

    May 2025: Between Risks and Optimism

    As May 2025 begins, Bitcoin is trading around $94,598, just shy of its all-time high set in early April. This strong rally is accompanied by robust liquidity and continued inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs. Similarly, XRP has reached $2.17, marking an impressive recovery from sub-$1 levels just six months ago.

    May 2025: Between Risks and OptimismMay 2025: Between Risks and Optimism

    Source: CryptoQuant

    However, despite these bullish technical signals, macroeconomic headwinds persist. The U.S. Federal Reserve maintains its benchmark interest rate above 5% and has reiterated that no policy pivot is expected in 2025. Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) has climbed to its highest level since October 2023, dampening demand for non-yielding assets like Bitcoin and XRP.

    On a positive note, data from on-chain analytics platforms such as CryptoQuant indicates that BTC outflows from exchanges continue to rise. The number of wallets holding BTC for over 12 months has reached an all-time high, signaling long-term investor conviction that the bull trend remains intact, despite monetary tightening and global economic uncertainty.

    Prevailing Market Sentiment

    Based on current technical analysis and macroeconomic conditions, analysts have outlined two clear scenarios for the crypto market in Q2 2025.

    In the bullish scenario, Bitcoin could extend its upward momentum and reach the psychological $100,000 milestone if the upcoming May CPI data shows U.S. inflation cooling below 3%. Such a reading would raise hopes of monetary easing by the Federal Reserve later in the year, encouraging further capital inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs. Institutional demand stays strong as BTC in funds hits a yearly high. If this trend continues, Bitcoin could very well set a new all-time high in 2025.

    For XRP, the post-litigation phase following the SEC’s withdrawal of its appeal in March 2025 has opened a new chapter. The end of Ripple’s legal battle has calmed investors and cleared U.S. legal risks. This paves the way for institutional investors to re-engage with XRP at scale.

    The CME Group’s confirmation that it will list XRP futures contracts in mid-May 2025 further reinforces the token’s institutional positioning. As capital shifts to mid-caps, XRP may gain if bullish signals persist. Prices could target the $2.50 range or higher, particularly if derivative platforms ramp up marketing and trading volumes remain strong.

    binance-logo-2binance-logo-2

    A bearish turn may follow hotter CPI or a jump in unemployment. The Fed may keep rates high longer, adding pressure on risk assets. BTC may drop to $85K–$88K support as spot activity slows amid rising caution.

    Even with XRP’s improved outlook post-lawsuit, short-term risks remain. Speculative capital could quickly shift toward trending sectors like meme coins or AI tokens, fragmenting XRP’s liquidity. CME’s XRP futures may draw institutions but also risk fueling shorts if sentiment weakens. If trading volume weakens and technical momentum fades, XRP may correct back to the $1.80 range in the short term.

    Conclusion

    May has long been a noteworthy month for traditional financial markets. However, in the realm of digital assets, investor sentiment, regulatory developments, and institutional flows play a far more decisive role than seasonal patterns.

    In 2025, the crypto market is experiencing a strong wave of growth despite lingering macroeconomic headwinds. Bitcoin remains near its all-time highs, while XRP is steadily reclaiming its position amid favorable legal developments. The “Sell in May” strategy may still apply during certain pullback phases, but rigidly following it could cause investors to miss out on key opportunities in a broader bull cycle.

    From a long-term perspective, May 2025 may simply represent a temporary pause, a healthy correction before the crypto market resumes its upward trajectory for the remainder of the year.

    How to Create a PDF Chatbot Using RAG, Chunking, and Vector Search

    How to Create a PDF Chatbot Using RAG, Chunking, and Vector Search

    Interacting with documents has evolved dramatically. Tools like Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude, and NotebookLM have revolutionized how we engage with PDFs and technical content. Instead of tediously scrolling through pages, we can now receive instant summaries, answers, and explanations. But have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes?

    Let me guide you through creating your PDF chatbot using Python, LangChain, FAISS, and a local LLM like Mistral. This isn’t about building a competitor to established solutions – it’s a practical learning journey to understand fundamental concepts like chunking, embeddings, vector search, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

    Understanding the Technical Foundation

    Before diving into code, let’s understand our technology stack. We’ll use Python with Anaconda for environment management, LangChain as our framework, Ollama running Mistral as our local language model, FAISS as our vector database, and Streamlit for our user interface.

    Harrison Chase launched LangChain in 2022. It simplifies application development with language models and provides the tools to process documents, create embeddings, and build conversational chains.

    FAISS (Facebook AI Similarity Search) specializes in fast similarity searches across large volumes of text embeddings. We’ll use it to store our PDF text sections and efficiently search for matching passages when users ask questions.

    Ollama is a local LLM runtime server that allows us to run models like Mistral directly on our computer without a cloud connection. This gives us independence from API costs and internet requirements.

    Streamlit enables us to quickly create a simple web application interface using Python, making our chatbot accessible and user-friendly.

    Setting Up the Environment

    Let’s start by preparing our environment:

    First, ensure Python is installed (at least version 3.7). We’ll use Anaconda to create a dedicated environment conda create—n pdf chatbot python=3.10 and activate it with conda activate pdf chatbot.

    Create a project folder with mkdir pdf-chatbot and navigate to it using cd pdf-chatbot.

    Create a requirements.txt file in this directory with the following packages:

    Install all required packages with pip install -r requirements.txt.

    Install Ollama from the official download page, then verify the installation by checking the version with ollama –version.

    In a separate terminal, activate your environment and run Ollama with the Mistral model using ollama run mistral.

    Building the Chatbot: A Step-by-Step Guide

    We aim to create an application that lets users ask questions about a PDF document in natural language and receive accurate answers based on the document’s content rather than general knowledge. We’ll combine a language model with intelligent document search to achieve this.

    Structuring the Project

    We’ll create three separate files to maintain a clean separation between logic and interface:

    chatbot_core.py – Contains the RAG pipeline logic

    streamlit_app.py – Provides the web interface

    chatbot_terminal.py – Offers a terminal interface for testing

    The Core RAG Pipeline

    Let’s examine the heart of our chatbot in chatbot_core.py:

    from langchain_community.document_loaders import PyPDFLoader
    from langchain.text_splitter import CharacterTextSplitter
    from langchain.embeddings import HuggingFaceEmbeddings
    from langchain.vectorstores import FAISS
    from langchain.chat_models import ChatOllama
    from langchain.chains import ConversationalRetrievalChain

    def build_qa_chain(pdf_path=”example.pdf”):
    loader = PyPDFLoader(pdf_path)
    documents = loader.load()[1:] # Skip page 1 (element 0)
    splitter = CharacterTextSplitter(chunk_size=500, chunk_overlap=100)
    docs = splitter.split_documents(documents)

    embeddings = HuggingFaceEmbeddings(model_name=”sentence-transformers/all-MiniLM-L6-v2″)

    db = FAISS.from_documents(docs, embeddings)
    retriever = db.as_retriever()
    llm = ChatOllama(model=”mistral”)
    qa_chain = ConversationalRetrievalChain.from_llm(

    llm=llm,
    retriever=retriever,
    return_source_documents=True

    )
    return qa_chain

    This function builds a complete RAG pipeline through several crucial steps:

    Loading the PDF: We use PyPDFLoader to read the PDF into document objects that LangChain can process. We skip the first page since it contains only an image.

    Chunking: We split the document into smaller sections of 500 characters with 100-character overlaps. This chunking is necessary because language models like Mistral can’t process entire documents at once. The overlap preserves context between adjacent chunks.

    Creating Embeddings: We convert each text chunk into a mathematical vector representation using HuggingFace’s all-MiniLM-L6-v2 model. These embeddings capture the semantic meaning of the text, allowing us to find similar passages later.

    Building the Vector Database: We store our embeddings in a FAISS vector database specializing in similarity searches. FAISS enables us to find text chunks that match a user’s query quickly.

    Creating a Retriever: The retriever acts as a bridge between user questions and our vector database. When someone asks a question, the system creates a vector representation of that question and searches the database for the most similar chunks.

    Integrating the Language Model: We use the locally running Mistral model through Ollama to generate natural language responses based on the retrieved text chunks.

    Building the Conversational Chain: Finally, we create a conversational retrieval chain that combines the language model with the retriever, enabling back-and-forth conversation while maintaining context.

    This approach represents the essence of RAG: improving model outputs by enhancing the input with relevant information from an external knowledge source (in this case, our PDF).

    Creating the User Interface

    Next, let’s look at our Streamlit interface in streamlit_app.py:

    import streamlit as st
    from chatbot_core import build_qa_chain

    st.set_page_config(page_title=”📄 PDF-Chatbot”, layout=”wide”)
    st.title(“📄 Chat with your PDF”)

    qa_chain = build_qa_chain(“example.pdf”)
    if “chat_history” not in st.session_state:

    st.session_state.chat_history = []

    question = st.text_input(“What would you like to know?”, key=”input”)
    if question:
    result = qa_chain({
    “question”: question,
    “chat_history”: st.session_state.chat_history
    })

    st.session_state.chat_history.append((question, result[“answer”]))
    for i, (q, a) in enumerate(st.session_state.chat_history[::-1]):

    st.markdown(f”**❓ Question {len(st.session_state.chat_history) – i}:** {q}”)
    st.markdown(f”**🤖 Answer:** {a}”)

    This interface provides a simple way to interact with our chatbot. It sets up a Streamlit page, builds our QA chain using the specified PDF, initializes a chat history, creates an input field for questions, processes those questions through our QA chain, and displays the conversation history.

    Terminal Interface for Testing

    We also create a terminal interface in chatbot_terminal.py for testing purposes:

    from chatbot_core import build_qa_chain

    qa_chain = build_qa_chain(“example.pdf”)

    chat_history = []

    print(“🧠 PDF-Chatbot started! Enter ‘exit’ to quit.”)

    while True:

    query = input(“\n❓ Your questions: “)

    if query.lower() in [“exit”, “quit”]:

    print(“👋 Chat finished.”)

    break

    result = qa_chain({“question”: query, “chat_history”: chat_history})

    print(“\n💬 Answer:”, result[“answer”])

    chat_history.append((query, result[“answer”]))

    print(“\n🔍 Source – Document snippet:”)

    print(result[“source_documents”][0].page_content[:300])

    This version lets us interact with the chatbot through the terminal, showing answers and the source text chunks used to generate those answers. This transparency is valuable for learning and debugging.

    Running the Application

    To launch the Streamlit application, we run streamlit run streamlit_app.py in our terminal. The app opens automatically in a browser, where we can ask questions about our PDF document.

    Future Improvements

    While our current implementation works, several enhancements could make it more practical and user-friendly:

    Performance Optimization: The current setup might take around two minutes to respond. We could improve this with a faster LLM or additional computing resources.

    Public Accessibility: Our app runs locally, but we could deploy it on Streamlit Cloud to make it publicly accessible.

    Dynamic PDF Upload: Instead of hardcoding a specific PDF, we could add an upload button to process any PDF the user chooses.

    Enhanced User Interface: Our simple Streamlit app could benefit from better visual separation between questions and answers and from displaying PDF sources for answers.

    The Power of Understanding

    Building this PDF chatbot yourself provides deeper insight into the key technologies powering modern AI applications. You gain practical knowledge of how these systems function by working through each step, from chunking and embeddings to vector databases and conversational chains.

    This approach’s power lies in its combination of local LLMs and document-specific knowledge retrieval. By focusing the model only on relevant content from the PDF, we reduce the likelihood of hallucinations while providing accurate, contextual answers.

    This project demonstrates how accessible these technologies have become. With open-source tools like Python, LangChain, Ollama, and FAISS, anyone with basic programming knowledge can build a functional RAG system that brings documents to life through conversation.

    As you experiment with your implementation, you’ll develop a more intuitive understanding of what makes modern AI document interfaces work, preparing you to build more sophisticated applications in the future. The field is evolving rapidly, but the fundamental concepts you’ve learned here will remain relevant as AI continues transforming how we interact with information.

      Rihanna: PREGNANT with Baby #3! Check Out Her Baby Bump!

      Reading Time: 3 minutes

      The stars came out for the 2025 MET Gala.

      But so did a certain singer’s protruding stomach and that has become the talk of all Tinseltown.

      Yes, folks. Rihanna is pregnant with her third baby, as evidenced by her walking of the red carpet in New York City on Monday night… looking like this:

      As you can see above, Rihanna must be fairly far along with her pregnancy because her baby bump was in full display in this light blue skin-tight two-piece outfit, which was donned along with a headpiece outside of the Carlyle Hotel.

      The beloved artist carried simply stunned all onlookers.

      Rihanna is already the mother of two kids along with A$AP Rocky, RZA, 2, and Riot, 21 months.

      The rapper was nowhere to be seen at this annual event; neither he nor his expecting girlfriend have said anything about the bundle of joy that is sure to arrive at some point this summer.

      Last year, though, the artist made no secret of her desire to expand her family.

      “[I’ll have] as many kids as God wants me to have,” she told Elle in April 2024. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

      We don’t know the gender or the due date at the moment.

      But rumors of a Rihanna’s pregnancy started to make the rounds just a few weeks ago. There was only so long she could hide it with a (blessed) figure that currently looks this way.

      Rihanna and A$AP Rockey, who began dating in 2020, announced that they were expecting their first child in January 2022.

      “I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of sh-t. We just had fun,” she candidly told Vogue in April 202. “And then it was just there on the test. I didn’t waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor’s office the next morning and our journey began.”

      Simple and sort of lovely, wouldn’t you say?

      “You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever,” she told British Vogue in February 2023 of being a parent.

      “You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before — but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because … because it doesn’t matter.”

      The couple mostly keeps to themselves, but Rihanna hasn’t been able to help but gush over her man any time the topic is broached.

      “We’re best friends with a baby,” she told British Vogue in February 2023.

      “We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship. Everything changes when you have a baby, but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”

          Towards Interoperable Anchoring for XR

          Towards Interoperable Anchoring for XR

          As part of the Metaverse Standards Forum’s Special SDO Sessions, the Forum conducted the Towards Interoperable Anchoring for XR webinar on April 30, 2025. The webinar focused on efforts to achieve interoperable anchoring systems for extended reality (XR). The main presenters, Jérémy Lacoche (Orange) and Jérôme Royan (BCOM), shared work from ETSI’s Augmented Reality Framework (ARF), highlighting new standards, architecture, and open-source tools designed to enable consistent AR experiences across platforms and devices.

          Neil Trevett, President of the Metaverse Standards Forum, opened with an overview of the Forum’s mission: to foster cross-silo cooperation and support pragmatic, bottom-up standardization efforts across metaverse technologies, including AI, XR, Web3, and digital twins.

          The core issue addressed was the lack of a shared, standardized way to represent the real world in XR. Today’s AR systems often rely on ecosystem-specific spatial anchors and tracking technologies, limiting cross-platform compatibility. ETSI’s ARF proposes a unified model for representing the real world using a graph-based structure called a “world graph.” This integrates multiple types of trackables (e.g., image markers, 3D maps, geolocation data) into a spatially-organized, interoperable reference system. By separating the real-world model (world graph) from virtual content (scene graph), applications can share environments and assets more flexibly.

          Open-source tools were also presented, including Unity-based editors, world analysis modules (for pose estimation), and remote server implementations. Demos illustrated industrial maintenance use cases using a combination of indoor and outdoor localization technologies across both iOS and Android.

          The webinar concluded with Q&A, highlighting the need for consistent coordinate systems, interest in semantic integration (ontologies), and discussions on collaboration with standards groups like Khronos and OpenXR. ETSI’s ongoing work aims to expand support for geometry, appearance, and semantics, enabling richer real-world interactions and easier AR content creation at scale.

            Sexually Explicit Content Is Coming
            … Too Much For You?!?

            Published May 5, 2025 1:24 PM PDT

            Potential jurors in Diddy’s federal sex trafficking trial are getting grilled on topics like sex and violence before they get picked … because they’re being warned the case will include graphic content and some upsetting things they’re expected to handle like grown-ups.

            TMZ obtained the questionnaire being given to prospective jurors … and there’s an emphasis on the graphic nature of the allegations against Diddy.

            For instance, the questionnaire asks … “The charges in this case involve allegations of kidnapping, arson, bribery of a witness, obstruction of justice, drug distribution, forced labor, sex trafficking, and transportation for purposes of engaging in prostitution. Is there anything about the nature of these allegations that would make it difficult for you to be fair and impartial?”

            The video of Diddy beating Cassie is going to be shown at some point during the trial, and jurors are being asked about how they would handle it.

            Jurors are being asked, “There may be evidence of graphic videos and photographs, including videos of physical violence, in connection with this case. Is there anything about the nature of this evidence that would make it difficult for you to be fair and impartial?”

            There’s not one, but two follow-up questions … with the first covering “evidence of sexually explicit videos, photographs and language in connection with this case.”

            A second follow-up question asks, “Would you be able to listen to and discuss matters of a sexual nature with fellow jurors?”

            Jury selection started Monday, and Diddy was in court wearing a navy sweater over a white collared shirt … and he told the judge he was so nervous he needed to use the restroom.

            Moonshadows Owner Shares His Hopes for the Restaurant After LA Fires

              Moonshadows Owner Shares His Hopes for the Restaurant After LA Fires

              Los Angeles love! Moonshadows owner JD Slajchert sat down with ET to share how the California community has come together to support his family’s restaurant in Malibu, California after losing it to the wildfires in Jan. 2025.

              The eatery, visited by Britney Spears, LeAnn Rimes, Lupita Nyong’o, Kim Kardashian, and more, was a go-to spot for famous faces and beyond.

              “What made Moonshadows so unique was that at one table you could have some of the most notable A-list celebrities, and at the table beside them, there could be a normal family out to celebrate a birthday. It was an authentic melting pot. I think that was something that both celebrities and regular patrons alike enjoyed,” he explained.

              And the outpouring love and support the former Division I athlete has received since is a testament to just that.

              Michael Ojo and David Barton

              “Thousands of people from all over the world have reached out, often sharing their favorite photos and memories from the restaurant. It has been so touching and immensely helpful for my family and I as we navigate this difficult situation to be able to tangibly feel that reminder about how impactful Moonshadows was,” he continued.

              In addition to receiving heartfelt messages, the novelist started a GoFundMe for the restaurant staff, which raised over $100,000, and they have been able to serve some of their most popular dishes at their sister spot, The Sunset.

              “My hope is that we will continue to stick together and remain resilient. … It will be hard, and it will take time, but I’m confident in our community to bounce back. I believe in L.A.,” he shared.

              While the screenwriter has faced his own hardships recently, it hasn’t prevented him from helping others, including those suffering with Sickle Cell Disease after losing his friend and UCSB basketball fan, Luc Bodden, to the health condition.

              Michael Ojo and David Barton

              “I believe that giving back is the most important thing we do. … I credit this simple lesson in humility to my best friend, Luc. … Luc taught me that even if it’s something small, we have to always be looking out for others,” the motivational speaker noted.

              in 2017, Slajchert even launched The LucStrong Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the family and children diagnosed with the blood disorder, and in 2018, he wrote MoonFlower, a best-selling novel about their bond, both of which constantly inspire him.

              “Luc was legendary, and I know he could take on any challenge thrown his way, but it’s these days that I feel his legendary strength more and more, and because he’s no longer here with us, I feel a great responsibility to carry his message forward to a community that’s considerably in need of his inspiration right now,” he said ahead of what would have been Bodden’s 19th birthday on May 12.

              “Stand tall, love each other, and remember that you are not alone and that we will get through this. Brighter days are ahead, I promise,” he added.
