The pre-owned sale on Saturday – and Zurich, Rubato events
This coming Saturday we will be trying a new type of PS event – a pre-owned clothing sale.
Everyone accumulates too many clothes when they love menswear, and finding a way to give them a new, loving home is both useful and responsible. The idea with the event is that we’re bringing together a group of such people, and readers have the chance to and try and buy their things in person, rather than just online.
The event is this Saturday, September 6th, from 10am to 6pm in the Permanent Style Showroom (37 Harley Street).
In other news, we’re holding a joint event with Trunk in Zurich on September 18th, so please come if you’re not too far away. There will be book signing, and we’ll be bringing a size run of our new outerwear launch.
And, Rubato have just announced they’ll be coming back to London in November. They will be at the PS showroom from November 20th to 22nd.

On the pre-owned sale, the idea is that we’re starting with members of the PS team plus a couple of friends. It’s myself, Lucas, Shun, Alex Natt and Luke Walker. This is about as much as we can fit in the showroom, because everyone has so many great things to bring. But in the future, if it’s popular we can expand the format and include readers as sellers.
The nice thing about our group is that there’s a real range of sizes, so there should be something for everyone. My old tailoring is a 38-inch chest, but some things will be 40, Luke is smaller than me, Alex a size bigger, while Shun is a 40 or 42, Lucas a 44 or 46. So five sizes covered, and things like shoes will be similar.
Highlights of what I will be bringing include:
Three bespoke suits
A few pairs of bespoke shoes
Several handmade shirts
A Loro Piana bomber
And about a half dozen PS samples
Alex has some Rubato, Bryceland’s and Anthology, plus some ex-Clutch stock. Shun has shoes from Edward Green, Gaziano & Girling and JM Weston, a Connolly coat and a fair bit of Drake’s. Lucas always has some weird and wonderful vintage, with a good chunk of Armani. I know he’s got too many shoes as well!
I’m planning to send everything of mine that doesn’t sell to Marrkt. That way readers outside London can see some of it online and get a chance to participate. I’ll ask the others if they fancy doing that as well.
Last time, a few readers asked where the showroom is. It’s 37 Harley Street, a beautiful old Bath-stone building on the corner of Harley Street and Queen Anne Street. It’s very close to Oxford Street, just a couple of minutes walk. We’re on the first floor – buzz to be let up.

I’m pleased to be coming to Zurich for the first time, as there are a few readers I want to connect with. Do come by the Trunk store and get a cocktail. They’ve also just got their order of The Style Guide and Casual Style Guide, which have just been restocked, plus the magazine.
It was a shame Rubato won’t be coming to New York with us this autumn, so it’s great they’re coming to London. They’ll be in the showroom November 20th-22nd, Thursday to Saturday. Times and details as normal, all listed on the Events page of PS, as are the other events.
The guys have some new categories they’ve already started teasing, but I’ve yet to see any of it, so pretty excited.
