The moment gamers eagerly anticipate all year has finally arrived: the discussions surrounding the winners of The Game Awards, the video game industry’s largest annual show.
The 2025 ceremony took place this past Thursday night (December 11th) and revealed the winners across 30 categories, all dedicated to celebrating the most remarkable games of the year.
The Wait Is Over, Here Is The Full Winner List
As many in the community predicted due to the massive buzz (and the fact that it is a truly groundbreaking title), the highly acclaimed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the night’s most decorated game, with 9 wins!
The RPG powerhouse from the Sandfall Interactive studio secured the coveted Game of the Year title (or “GOTY” for short) among many other awards, such as Best Debut Indie Game, Best RPG, Best Independent Game, Best Score & Music, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Performance, and Best Game Direction.
Another curious detail, however, highlights Expedition 33’s domination: no game besides the winner secured more than one award tonight. Literally every other title that was honored walked away with only a single trophy, including games like Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Arc Raiders.
It is important to remember that the winners are determined by a vote split between the general public and a specialized jury composed of international press outlets and content creators.
