But the biggest surprise to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is “Guardians of the Galaxy” and how its scrappy band of space misfits were able to propel a trilogy of films that still stand among the studio’s best.

Half of the fun of these movies was watching previously obscure Marvel characters get thrust into the spotlight and seeing how they played off one another. The Guardians were the underdogs who had to prove themselves among the studio’s more popular roster of characters. The same challenge now applies to the upcoming “Thunderbolts*,” whose lineup includes a collective of anti-heroes from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Black Widow,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” It’s essentially Marvel’s answer to DC’s “Suicide Squad.”

While certain plot details are being kept under wraps, the marketing materials indicate that a lot of these characters will be introduced to one another in this vault within the repurposed Avengers tower. It’s now owned by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, so it makes sense that she would use this space — now called the Watchtower — to throw them all together and see what happens. I have to imagine the “Die Hard” element would have had the Watchtower as a character itself, with the anti-heroes having to ascend the building to take out a villain at the top. But that may have ultimately been too close to something like “The Raid: Redemption.”

The issue with making comparisons to “Die Hard” is that the John McTiernan-directed action flick is about the might of one flawed individual overcoming a team of baddies to rescue the woman he loves. I could envision a version of the “Thunderbolts*” where Valentina has hired this crew to stop a character from getting what they want. How much of that initial draft made it into the film? We’ll have to wait another few days to find out.

Days of our Lives: May Sweeps Stuns Salem – John Black Death and Sarah Heartbroken

Days of Our Lives sees May sweeps are here. And there is devastation coming to Salem as John Black (Drake Hogestyn)’s death is confirmed. And we’ve also got Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) set for heartbreak among other big action coming in sweeps. Let’s look ahead together at what we are hoping to see in the 15 episodes left in May sweeps and what action’s going down on Days.

Bo Brady’s Miracle Cure: Days of Our Lives May Sweeps Spoilers

So, first off, let’s talk about Bo Brady (Peter Reckell). He needs a miracle right now quite desperately and he’s going to get it. After Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) shot him, Bo, fell into a coma where he has been for two years. In fact, last week was the unfortunate anniversary of when Shawn shot his dad, April 24th, 2023.

And now Bo is dying of sepsis because he got an infection from his ventilator and it’s killing him. But Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans)’s got a guy on staff, Dr. Russell, doing research into an amazing new sepsis drug.

So Kayla’s going to talk to Dr. Russell, but he has to refuse because he legally can’t let her have the drug even though Bo is dying, even though he wants to be compassionate. It’s not in human trials as she told Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols).

Days of Our Lives: Hometown Homecoming

So Shawn won’t let it go and he’s going to pitch to Steve that they do some crime and they steal that cure for his dad. And sounds like a plan. Once they get the serum for Bo, the shock of the infection and the infusion of this experimental medication should be what pulls him out of his coma.

Fancy Face Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and her hubby Bo, enjoy a big homecoming to Salem soon, possibly before the end of sweeps. We’ve heard they’re coming in May at the very latest, early June.

Johnny DiMera’s Daddy Issues and Adoption Drama on Days

Next, let’s talk about Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and his daddy issues. After finding out what EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) did to Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), we’re seeing Johnny having a crisis of conscience about impending fatherhood.

He’s got double deep daddy issues, actually issues with his own daddy EJ and now issues with the idea of being a daddy himself to Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd)’s baby that he and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) were planning to adopt.

Days of Our Lives: Sweeps Swings and Turning Points

Johnny just feels dirty inside because of his rape origins, but May sweeps could be a turning point for him. First one and then back the other. After breaking Chanel’s heart by saying he just can’t do this adoption thing, Johnny going to find himself at the Salem Inn all alone in a room.

And Tate finds Johnny there. And then Tate punches him in the face. He’s furious at Johnny for pulling this move and disappointing him and Sophia whose college hopes and everything were hinging on this.

So maybe it takes Tate kicking his butt and it knocks some sense into Johnny. I do expect we’re going to see him relent during May sweeps and apologize to Chanel and agree to the adoption.

Who Shot EJ DiMera? Rachel Black and Kristen’s Confession Revealed

All right, our third big plot for May we want to talk about is who shot EJ. Well, it could be that the shooter is revealed but doesn’t go to prison, but the shooter’s mother Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) does.

So Johnny brought a gun to the mansion, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor)’s gun, and threatened to kill EJ for coercing his mom Sami into sex and really for ruining Johnny’s life now that he’s found out about it.

So that happened the same day EJ was shot and he’s going to remember that pretty soon. But like our leaker said, looks like Johnny couldn’t pull the trigger, left the gun, and stormed out. Then little Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) picked it up and put a bullet in her wicked uncle EJ, if our leaker is correct.

Days of Our Lives: Leaks and Insider Info

I do feel pretty good about the leak, by the way, because I got chastised for publishing that information by the Days of Our Lives press office. So, there’s that. May sweeps should be when we see EJ’s would-be killer revealed, but little Rachel will probably get away with it if indeed it is her.

My leaker also told me that Kristen confesses to protect her daughter Rachel and EJ may force her hand since Kristen keeps threatening him. And a behind-the-scenes photo of the DiMera siblings, Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), EJ, Kristen, and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) from a few months back show her in Statesville Prison blues.

And by the way, there’s this sketchy website who listened to my video and decided to write an article and say it was their leak that came to them. So, if you’ve seen that website, I just want you to know that they’re liars.

Days of Our Lives Sweeps: More DiMera Drama

Anyway, however, let’s talk about it. Let’s be real. Assuming that it is Rachel obviously Kristen can do the time even if she didn’t do the crime. She’s no stranger to Statesville. She’s been there before. She did fine.

And EJ may hold his sister’s feet to the fire to make it happen, to put Kristen behind bars. Maybe he’s going to forget that promise to Belle that he’s a new man and he wants to be better and he’s going to just go right back to being a diabolical DiMera as usual.

John Black’s Shocking Death and Emotional Funeral on Days of Our Lives

All right, now let’s talk about the shocking and sad ending to John Black on Days of Our Lives. In case you don’t know, we’ve got his funeral coming in June. That is when Carrie Brady, Sami Brady, Will Horton (Chandler Massey), recast Ariana Horton, and a lot of other people are coming back to Salem.

Everyone’s gathering to say goodbye to John Black and it’s a very emotional sendoff kind of retroactively for Drake Hogestyn because we’re all seeing this knowing that Drake has passed away, but he was still alive when they filmed all this.

Days of Our Lives: John Black’s Fate

So, yeah, it’s kind of it watch the look on the actor’s faces. This isn’t easy, you know, and it’s quite likely that Andrew Donovan (Colton Little) reports back to Marlena and Steve by the end of Sweeps that John is indeed dead. And of course, he’ll have to tell his fiance Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) first, who may be with Andrew, when he finds out that John is dead.

And Paul will be devastated to lose his father John, as well as John’s other daughter and son being crushed, Belle and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). But also look for John’s death to be a bit mysterious and open-ended because they wrote it hoping Drake would recover and come back to Days and they would get to revive his character John.

Sarah Horton’s Secret Exposed: Xander’s Heartbreak on Days

All right, the last storyline for Sweeps we want to talk about is Sarah and that dirty little secret she’s keeping from Xander Cook (Paul Telfer). Let’s face it, Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) has been extremely fortunate that no one has busted her out for conspiring with Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) to keep the forgery hidden from Xander.

And let’s be real, Philip first off, could have thrown Sarah under the bus to diffuse some of the anger coming his way from his brother Xander. And of course, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) is sick of all the lies, as is Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein). So either of them could have ratted Sarah out, but they didn’t do it.

And now, of course, Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) knows and she’s furious, not so much at Sarah, but at Philip. And we all know how much Maggie loves Xander. He’s like a son and son-in-law to Maggie all rolled into one big Scottish package. And speaking of big Scottish packages, Xander is probably going to be withholding his from Sarah once he finds out about her big fat lie.

Days of Our Lives: Xander Gets the Truth?

This week, Maggie tears into Philip for his betrayal and deceit. And that could be how Xander finds out that Sarah knew. For a big guy, Xander is also a sneaky little eavesdropper. One way or another, it seems like May sweeps is when Sarah’s life falls apart and Xander finds out she’s been lying to him for a long time.

We may see Sarah’s heartbreak because it seems pretty likely that Xander is going to dump her and move out because I doubt he would kick out Sarah since her mom Maggie is the matriarch of the mansion. So, he’ll probably go.

Hopefully, Xander cools down and comes home after he thinks things over and specifically all the things that Sarah has forgiven him for. And that’s key. But Xander and Sarah life is going to implode soon. And Sarah got no one to blame but herself. Although, to be fair, she can blame Philip because I mean, heck, I would.

Inside Joe Swash’ sister Shana’s life now – EastEnders axe; ‘never say never’ to soap return; tragedy that led to ‘normal’ job

Joe Swash isn’t the only celeb in the Swash family – as his sister Shana has also had a taste of fame…

Shana, 34, shot to fame as Demi Miller on EastEnders. Joe, 42, also starred on the BBC soap playing her on-screen brother Mickey.

But where is Shana now? What’s her ‘normal’ job? And how many children does she have? Keep on reading to find out…

Joe Swash and sister Shana found fame on EastEnders

Shana appeared in EastEnders from 2004 to 2006 portraying troublemaker Demi Miller. And it’s fair to say she had some big storylines including Demi giving birth aged 13.

However, after two years in Walford, Shana was axed from the soap. And the news didn’t go down well with fans at all, as they set up a petition to keep her in Albert Square.

Speaking exclusively to Entertainment Daily back in 2023, Shana admitted that she’d “never say never” to a return.

She told us: “I always said I’d never say never. I think my brother has always said the same thing. He’d never say never. We were never killed off, so I think it would always be nice to come back with a real big bang storyline. So yes, we’re always open to it.”

And, after Joe returned to his role as Mickey Miller briefly, perhaps it isn’t far out of the realms of possibility for Shana.

Following her EastEnders exit, Shana continued to act, starring in the 2008 Scottish soap River City. Shana has also turned her hand to theatre over the years.

In 2016, she featured in the film My Feral Heart, where she received a nomination for the BIFA for Best Supporting Actress. In 2023, she starred in the film Love Without Walls. Four years later, Shana appeared on Your Face Or Mine alongside Joe and Stacey.

She’s now a regular on Stacey & Joe.

Shana’s ‘normal job’

In recent years, Shana has pivoted away from acting. She ended up setting up her own pop-up coffee shop in North London.

Back in 2021, Joe posted a photo showing a mobile coffee shop called Swash & Jones on his Instagram Stories. He tagged Shana in the post.

The cute little trailer is painted green and white with elegant wooden panels and a menu of different coffees and teas. It sits in Shana’s local park.

Speaking to ED!, Shana revealed the business idea came about following the pandemic: “Everything stopped. Work stopped, acting stopped, auditions stopped, so it was really difficult. But for me it was a kick up the [bleep].

“I thought, everything’s dried up, we now need to think how we’re going to get ourselves out of this. It was a really tough situation for a lot of people. But for me it’s what kick-started my own business, so I was always thankful.

“It was a catch 22. It was really awful but my business came out of it and it’s really successful. But I needed lockdown to happen for the business to start. Ultimately it was a productive time but I know a lot of people had hardship,” she said.

Shana’s love life

Shana has been engaged to Nick Jones since August 2021. Two years later, they welcomed a daughter, Kitty Frances Swash-Jones, in December 2023.

She shared a black-and-white picture of the baby and introduced her to followers, saying: “Kitty Frances Swash Jones,” before revealing she was born on December 18, 2023.

Now 18 months, little Kitty is a regular on Stacey & Joe, the Solomon-Swash family’s BBC One reality show.
