Wham! singer Shirlie Kemp found labour ‘not as bad as a period’
Back in a 2023 interview for The Times, Shirlie discussed her experience of living with the medical condition endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a condition that affects more than 1.5 million women in the UK. It’s a chronic disease that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus. These externally growing cells lead to inflammation and intense pain.
After struggling without a diagnosis for years, Shirlie revealed that giving birth to her first child with husband Martin Kemp – daughter Harley Moon – was a breeze compared to what she’d been experiencing.
She told the news outlet: “A private female doctor gave my symptoms a name. When I went into labour I thought, this is not as bad as a period.”
I could have kissed the doctor who said, ‘You sound like you’ve got endometriosis’
Told to ‘get over’ her endometriosis symptoms
The 62-year-old star felt great relief at finally having a diagnosis for the condition that had left her “bedridden” with “horrendous pain” from periods since the age of 16. However, prior to her diagnosis, Shirley had to suffer at the hands of the medical service.
The singer disclosed: “A male doctor said: ‘What a load of nonsense. She’ll get over it,’ and gave me tablets that made me vomit.”
Along with this apathetic comment, Shirlie was told that endometriosis could affect her fertility. She said: “My husband wasn’t ready to have a baby. He was a rock star. When the doctor told me that endometriosis can affect your fertility, I said: ‘Martin, I’ve got to have a baby. I have a problem with my fertility.’”
Shirley and Martin have two children together – daughter Harley Moon and son Roman Kemp.
More celebrities have been speaking out about their experiences with endometriosis to raise awareness.
Watch Shirley as a guest on Interior Design Masters on Sunday (November 17) at 4.30pm on BBC Two.

While we don’t know if Lil Wayne will be making an appearance at the Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans, we do know another big-time rapper will be in attendance — Big Sean — who tells TMZ Sports he already has tickets to the big game!
That’s how confident Sean feels!
We caught up with the Detroit rapper out in Los Angeles … and he didn’t waver at all — he’s emphatic in his declaration that Jared Goff and the Lions are a lock to make the big game.
“Bet all your money on the Lions, I swear to god,” he said. “And you know I don’t even like to bet against Patrick Mahomes, man. But I got to go with the Lions, brother.”
While he didn’t outright say it’d be Lions vs. Chiefs … it seems like the 36-year-old is anticipating that being the matchup.
With the reigning Super Bowl champs sitting at 9-0, and the Lions with just one loss (8-1), it’s not far-fetched.
We’ve seen Big Sean show love to his squad in the past … cheering them on from the stands during their first playoff win in 32 years back in January.
Shyne has come forward to express his support for his former mentor, Sean “Diddy” Combs, after the Bad Boy Records founder’s arrest.
The former rapper, who was convicted over an infamous club shooting that involved Diddy and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, said he hopes the embattled rapper is “able to reform and fix himself.”
Shyne has undergone a remarkable transformation since his stint behind bars, trading in his mic for a life of spiritual reflection and public service.

In a chat with Page Six while promoting his upcoming Hulu documentary, “The Honorable Shyne,” the rapper-turned-politician said he hopes his former mentor, Diddy, is “able to reform and fix himself.”
“That’s not what I want from the universe. I don’t say to myself, ‘Yeah,’ you know, ‘it’s your turn now!’ Like, that’s not the type of person that I am,” he said, adding that Diddy “has to deal with his debt to the universe.”
Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2001, following a 1999 Manhattan club shooting incident that involved Diddy and his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
Diddy and Shyne went on trial in 2001, and although one of three victims who sustained injuries claimed Diddy accidentally shot her, only Shyne was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment.

Shyne Refused To Rat Out The Music Mogul
MEGA
Shyne seemingly took the fall for the infamous shooting scandal as he refused to rat on Diddy despite being pressured to do so.
Speaking on the circumstances that surrounded the case at the time, the “Bad Boyz” rapper claims he believed he was protecting Diddy and being true to his training on not “getting my friends in trouble.”
“I grew up [being told] to not get my friends in trouble,” he explained. “And that’s what it really boiled down to, integrity about character.”
He noted that he believed he was protecting Diddy but claims the “Coming Home” rapper “got witnesses to testify against me, to say that basically I was this uncontrollable person that was acting in a depraved manner, which was the furtherest from the truth.”

Shyne Says He Has Moved On From The Nightclub Shooting Incident
MEGA
As part of his promotion for his “The Honorable Shyne” documentary, Shyne made an appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show,” where he also talked about the shooting incident that led to his prison sentence.
Looking back on the moment, Shyne reiterated his claim that the music mogul set him up as the fall guy. However, he has since let go of the grudges he once held against Diddy.
“I moved on, and I healed,” Shyne said. “I didn’t see him shooting, but I know that he made me take the fall. I know that he called witnesses to testify against me.”

Meanwhile, a rep for Diddy has rebuffed Shyne’s allegations, distancing the Bad Boys Records founder from claims he allowed Shyne to take the fall for the shooting incident.
They stated that the rapper “categorically” denies the “unequivocally false” allegations, “including any suggestion that he orchestrated Mr. Barrow to ‘take the fall’ or ‘sacrificed’ him by directing witnesses to testify against him.”
Diddy also praised Shyne regarding his new career path as a politician but maintained that he was disappointed that his former label rapper chose to raise the dust on a forgotten issue.
“It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations,” the rep added, per TMZ, “Mr. Combs trusts that responsible journalism will weigh both the established legal outcomes and Mr. Combs’ positive, longstanding support for those he has worked with.”

Shyne Said Diddy ‘Destroyed’ His Life
MEGA
Diddy is currently locked behind bars at the metropolitan detention center in Brooklyn following his September 16 arrest outside a luxury hotel in Manhattan.
He faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution and is set to begin facing trial in May 2025.
Shortly after Diddy was arrested, Shyne, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives, shared his thoughts on his arrest and claimed he “destroyed” his life in a press conference.
“When I was an 18-year-old kid, just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud and be recognized for my talent and take over the world. I was defending him and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me. He pretty much sent me to prison,” Shyne claimed back in September after Diddy’s arrest.
“This is someone who destroyed my life,” the politician said, per Billboard. “And who I forgave and who I moved on and for the better interest of Belize, because he was in a position at that time to give scholarships and to maybe invest, I would not deny attempting to bring the investment to Belize and contribution to education to Belize.”
TV star Romesh Ranganathan previously opened up about his suicidal thoughts after one of his close friends tragically took their own life.
The actor and comedian, who hosts ITV’s Parents’ Evening this weekend (November 16), is a patron of mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). He also ran the London Marathon in aid of the charity in 2023 and 2024.
As well as that, Romesh has spoken about his own mental health issues.

Romesh Ranganathan on friend’s suicide
In an interview with The Times last month, Romesh opened up about his friend’s death three years ago. The pair met when his friend was a teacher at the school Romesh became the head of sixth form at.
Even though Romesh’s career in comedy began in 2010, his friend was one of the first people to champion and believe in his dreams.
“He’d drive me to the crappy open-mike gigs and watch me perform to four people in some bar in Southampton,” he revealed.
When Romesh’s comedy career took off, he quit his teaching job. However, he and his friend remained close.
His friend, on the other hand, would later lose his job for providing “over-diligent help with a class’s GCSE coursework”. Sadly, the worst was still yet to happen. While out in Ethiopia filming The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, Romesh was informed that his friend had died from suicide.
“I was completely off-grid for 48 hours. As we were driving back I got reception and my phone started blowing up. The first message read: ‘I can’t believe what’s happened,’” he explained.

Romesh ‘used to fantasise’ about death
As she began to get reception, Romesh soon found out that the sad news that his friend had died, leaving him distraught.
Romesh’s initial emotions were that he felt that he had “let his friend down”. Upon realising that “you can’t do anything about that now”, he began working with the mental health charity CALM.
Speaking about the impact of his friend’s death, Romesh said: “On more than one occasion, I have felt suicidal. Somebody told me it was ideation. I used to fantasise about it. I’d be feeling so stressed out. The idea of those feelings disappearing felt tempting,” Romesh continued.
During an appearance on The Diary of a CEO Podcast, Romesh opened up about his suicidal thoughts once again.
“I think that all comedians are wired slightly differently,” he said, adding, “They’ve had something happen to them that has made them an outsider in some way.”

The filming of “Schindler’s List” was, to put it mildly, a difficult experience for Steven Spielberg. Principal photography took place in Poland in and around many of the concentration camps where Jewish captives were murdered en masse. The weight should be too much for any human being to bear (clearly it isn’t, because human beings carried out this unspeakable genocide), and it absolutely cut through Spielberg. As he said in Joseph McBride’s “Steven Spielberg: A Biography”: “I was hit in the face with my personal life. My upbringing. My Jewishness. The stories my grandparents told me about the Shoah. And Jewish life came pouring back into my heart. I cried all the time.”
This was not fertile grounds for laughs, but to get through the making of such a soul-scarring motion picture, Spielberg needed some semblance of levity. And so, when he knocked off for the day, he would repair to his quarters in Poland and find lighthearted solace via two sources: phone calls from Robin Williams and videotapes of “Seinfeld” episodes.
For Jerry Seinfeld, discovering Spielberg’s fandom was a godsend. As he remarked in a 2014 Reddit AMA, “That was really one of the great moments in the history of the show. We really felt like we were doing something worthwhile.”
So, in classic “Seinfeld” fashion, they paid tribute to Spielberg with a wildly inappropriate gag.
Jerry and Rachel made out throughout Schindler’s List
NBC
In the season 5 two-parter “The Raincoats” (the third best season of “Seinfeld” according to /Film), Jerry goes out on a movie date with his girlfriend Rachel (Melanie Smith). They choose to see “Schindler’s List,” and because they’re both a little frisky from not having been alone together in a while, they start to make out. Jerry’s nemesis, Newman (Wayne Kramer), sees their amorous display and later tries to expose Jerry’s cultural faux pas by asking him questions about the movie.
It’s an outrageous moment in a series filled with them, but what did Spielberg think? Interestingly, it appears he’s never gone on the record about it. Surely, he got a huge laugh out of it (and knew it was a joke written expressly for him), but given how hard it was to film at or near camps like Auschwitz, maybe it was hard for him to get a kick out of the joke.
Again, Spielberg is a pretty good sport, so it’s quite likely he roared with laughter at the scene. If anything, he should feel relieved his film received better treatment than Anthony Minghella’s masterpiece “The English Patient.”
Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer behind PATAPON, has partnered with Tokyo Virtual Theory to announce RATATAN. Strictly star Craig Revel Horwood on eating disorder
Speaking to the Daily Record, long-standing Strictly judge Craig revealed that he’d battled with anorexia for decades.
“When I studied myself in the mirror every morning and night, anything that wasn’t muscle I saw as fat. I was terribly insecure about my body and having my supposed flaws judged by others,” he said.
I was never happy with what I saw.
“I disgusted myself and I also felt guilty about my behaviour. I was never happy with what I saw but that is what body dysmorphia and eating disorders do to you,” he then added.

‘I always thought I was fat’
Craig then continued, saying he grew “paranoid” over everything he ate. It got to the stage where he cut protein out of his diet, which left him with low energy. He then said that he basically lived off lettuce for four years, but would go on binges after shows.
“I always thought I was fat, but I was actually truly thin. When I look back, I was 6ft 2in and 11 stone, which is crazy between the ages of 18 and 22,” he said.
The star then added that years of starving himself took its toll on his skin. His immune system went “haywire” and his moods took low turns.
He credited switching from dancing to choreography as what helped him to get better. He then added that he “would have come close to dying” if he hadn’t made the change.

‘I still battle with my food demons’
Craig previously opened up about his health struggles in an article in the Daily Mail. Back in 2009, he explained that his issues with food started when he was a teenager.
He said: “I’ve battled food issues since my late teens. I was quite chubby, so when I started dancing professionally I had to work hard to stay slim. This led to a lifelong struggle with anorexia and body dysmorphia.”
Craig concluded: “I still battle with my food demons, but I’m much better at keeping them under control.”

A tragedy appears to have been avoided when it comes to Jason “Sundance” Head, a singer best known for having won The Voice back in 2016.
But the artist could still use a whole bunch of thoughts and prayers right about now.
Late on Friday, the star’s agent told The New York Post that Head had been shot “in the naval area,” but thankfully the wound missed all off his vital organs.

The incident took place at Head’s Texas ranch when the singer was all alone.
“This is Misty – I don’t have a lot of information but please keep Sundance in your prayers,” wrote Head’s wife on Facebook in her first update.
“Sundance has been life-flighted with a gunshot wound to his stomach per the paramedics who called me. They did get him stable for the flight (per the paramedic) We are on our way to Tyler now.
“Again this is the only information I have at the time. Please just keep him in your prayers.”

A short time later, Misty provided a follow-up message that calmed the nerves of followers and also provided many more key details.
“It was not his hunting rifle and no nobody shot him,” she posted to Facebook on Friday night. “He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off.”
Misty elaborated as follows:
“Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging. I thought he called 911 he didn’t- he put his hands in pocket for phone immediately after getting hit but phone wasn’t there just filled with blood so he took off down the driveway out to the main road to flag a car down for help.
“10 cars later someone turned around to help and called 911.”
Wow. Crazy, huh?!?
Sundance competed on season 11 of The Voice as part of coach Blake Shelton’s team, beating out rivals Billy Gilman, Josh Gallagher and Wé McDonald to claim the win.
Most notably, Head won over fans with version of tracks by such superstars as Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Keith Urban.
“Well since no surgery to remove bullet (safer to leave in per trauma Dr) they are releasing him,” Misty also wrote. “Really thankful for the care I’m concerned they are releasing him so soon. He’s already bleeding out of where the wound is also no antibiotics or pain meds being sent home. Probably going to get him home and a second opinion…
“It’s so crazy 7 hours ago he was life flighted and now being released.. continued prayers for quick recovery.”
In his recent SmartCon 2024 keynote, Sergey Nazarov explored how TradFi and DeFi are converging into a single unified Internet of Contracts through Chainlink. This post is based on his presentation.
Our fundamental goal is to establish a global standard—one that works across both DeFi and traditional capital markets. These two sectors are set to converge, and when they do, we expect it will create an economic boom by combining into a single global Internet of Contracts. Chainlink’s mission is to lead this transformation by creating the standard powering this new onchain financial system.
Web3 and TradFi adoption of Chainlink standards.
Currently, these two worlds—DeFi and TradFi—are evolving in separate directions. We’ve already made significant strides in establishing Chainlink as the standard for DeFi by powering a significant portion of it, securing $75+ billion in DeFi TVL at its peak. Now, we’re also making progress in becoming the standard for TradFi capital markets.
The ultimate goal is to create applications that work seamlessly together, defining the standard for how value is transacted across the entire financial system. That’s what success looks like—building a global standard that powers the Internet of Contracts, which we expect will lead to the economic boom that will result from merging these two worlds into a single global market.
The goal is to merge Web3 and TradFi ecosystems using a unified set of Chainlink standards.
We’ve made significant progress within TradFi markets. In addition to DeFi, we have implementations in production for large asset managers, multiple collaborations with major financial market infrastructures, and we’re in various stages of implementation with some of the biggest banks and asset managers in the world. Just like we’ve successfully established Chainlink as a global standard for the DeFi community, this year we’ve made great strides toward creating the standard for capital markets.
Chainlink has been collaborating with leading financial institutions.
We’ve achieved this by providing a comprehensive set of services: data, proof of reserves, identity, cross-chain, and more—all integrated into contracts. One key lesson we’ve learned along the way is the need for a unified system to weave together these services, blockchains, smart contracts, and payment systems into a single application.
Introducing the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE)
Looking back at the history of financial applications, each economic boom has been driven by the simplification of new technologies. In the 1970s, the introduction of COBOL as a runtime technology simplified interactions with databases and created the first electronic banking transactions. Similarly, in the 1990s, the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) simplified the interaction between new database technologies and the Internet, paving the way for online banking.
Every 30 years there is a new runtime powering the financial system.
Now, as the world’s value migrates across hundreds of chains and thousands of oracle networks, the opportunity to unify these systems into a single application has emerged. The goal is to allow developers to create advanced applications much more quickly than before—within days or even hours. This simplification is what has driven economic booms in the past, and it’s what we aim to do now with the Chainlink Runtime Environment.
The Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) is designed to play the same role that COBOL and JRE played in previous economic booms in the last few decades. The CRE will coordinate blockchain technologies, oracle networks, and smart contracts into a unified application. By simplifying the complexities of interacting with multiple systems, the CRE will provide developers with an environment to easily integrate existing data, systems, and new blockchain technologies into a single application—this is the next step in simplifying blockchain application development.
The CRE will emerge as the next runtime to power the financial system.
We’ve already seen this work with the Swift network. Through the CRE, we integrated Swift messages with multiple blockchains to create a seamless transaction flow. A small amount of engineering resources was needed to achieve this, demonstrating the CRE’s power in simplifying complex systems. This solution was showcased at Swift’s Sibos conference and received a strong response. The ability to coordinate Swift messages and blockchain events securely and efficiently is just one example of how the CRE will simplify cross-chain interoperability and make complex systems more manageable.
The adoption of the Chainlink Runtime Environment is a critical piece of our vision for the future. It’s designed to unify these complex services into one cohesive application, allowing developers to write code in languages they’re already familiar with, such as Go and TypeScript, with other languages like Rust under consideration. We believe this will lead to widespread adoption and make it easier for developers to build applications that integrate smart contracts, blockchain technologies, data, and payments—ultimately leading to the creation of a global, interconnected network of contracts.
The CRE enables secure data access, cross-chain interactions, and unified smart contracts with APIs for data, payments, and more.
Privacy Is the Key to Unlocking Institutional Adoption
As we continue to innovate, we are also addressing privacy in blockchain transactions. For institutional transactions, privacy is essential, and that’s why we’ve introduced the Blockchain Privacy Manager. This tool helps manage privacy across various chains by defining what information can and can’t leave a chain. We’ve also applied this tool to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to create private transactions, essential for institutional users.
The Blockchain Privacy Manager enables secure offchain data retrieval and writing with privacy management for blockchain applications.
Additionally, we’re releasing tools like the DECO Sandbox, which allows developers to apply zero-knowledge proofs to any API and prove data information without revealing sensitive details. This is a significant advancement for privacy, especially in sectors like identity management and proof of funds, where confidentiality is crucial.
Proof of identity onchain with full data privacy using Chainlink’s Deco verifier and zero-knowledge proofs.
SmartData Leads to SmartAssets
We also recognize the importance of creating data standards. Chainlink is rapidly becoming the standard for proof of reserves, a critical element in the reliability of stablecoins and commodity-backed assets. The work we’re doing with the SmartData standard will further expand the types of data that can be reliably transmitted onchain, leading to the creation of SmartAssets that are enriched and controlled by highly reliable data feeds.
SmartData enriches tokenized assets to create SmartAssets, ensuring data synchronization, yield, reserves verification, and protection across chains.
The Next Evolution of Chainlink CCIP
Finally, our vision extends to the continued evolution of CCIP. With features like Programmable Token Transfers, CCIP is being adopted by major blockchains as their canonical bridge solution, providing a reliable and secure way to transfer tokens across chains. The ability to conduct transactions and manage payments seamlessly across multiple blockchains will play a key role in the growth of this technology.
CCIP capabilities, including elf-serve deployments, token developer attestation, programmable transfers, and more.
The goal is to create a unified standard that spans both the DeFi and TradFi worlds. Through the Chainlink Runtime Environment, we are bringing that vision to life. We’re laying the groundwork for an interconnected global economy driven by smart contracts, and as we continue to develop these technologies, we believe Chainlink will be at the epicenter of the next economic boom.
Solving a mystery is a challenging endeavour. Police officers emphasise the importance of patience, due diligence, and meticulous examination of all facts, no matter how peculiar. It’s crucial to avoid premature conclusions until the truth is irrefutable.
The Case of the Golden Idol presents an unusual murder mystery spanning multiple chapters, each with its own intricate web of deaths and secrets to unravel. In this game, you assume the role of an unnamed, unseen detective. Does it matter? Not one bit.
There’s a case to solve!
The game plunges you directly into the mystery without introductory cutscenes or explanations. You begin with a murder, and your task is to solve it. Set in a fictionalised 18th-century England, the narrative revolves around the Cloudsley family and the unfortunate events that plague their lives, as the game’s visual style draws inspiration from old newspaper cartoons. For instance, the opening scene depicts a clifftop with one person falling to their death and another seemingly responsible for the push. Though presented as a static image, the scene is subtly animated, and clues are scattered throughout, inviting you to piece together the events.
The narrative and world-building are superb. The game weaves a tapestry of strange mystic idols, Masonic rituals, and family drama, creating a universe that is ripe to explore. The characters are well-developed, and the mythology is both intricate and intriguing.
Gameplay consists of two distinct phases. The first involves gathering information. Clues are hidden within objects, characters, and documents and clicking reveals valuable information that can be used as evidence. Each level requires you to collect a specific number of clues, which can be items, names, or even words within a sentence. Once you’ve gathered all the evidence, you move on to the deduction phase.
Scour the scene.
This is where your detective skills are put to the test. Your objective is to solve the crime by filling in the blanks in a statement. For example, you might encounter a statement like, “______ killed ______ with a ______.” Using the collected clues, you must fill in the blanks correctly to solve the case. There are also bonus objectives for those seeking an additional challenge, such as matching character names to their portraits. This core mechanic is both addictive and rewarding, making you feel like a true detective piecing together a complex puzzle.
The Case of the Golden Idol’s visuals are distinctive, resembling 18th-century newspaper cartoons. The level of detail is impressive, with numerous objects and characters to examine, whilst the props and costumes are well-designed and imaginative. The game excels in its more surreal moments, and the brief cutscenes between chapters are visually striking.
In addition to that, the sound design is functional, with background music that, while not particularly memorable, complements the atmosphere.
Well worth the investigation
The Case of the Golden Idol is an original, brilliantly strange game. The detective gameplay is both challenging and rewarding, and the narrative is intriguing and filled with unexpected twists. Further, the visuals are unique and effectively convey the game’s atmosphere.
If you enjoy solving intricate mysteries and appreciate unconventional game design, The Case of the Golden Idol is worth investigating.
