Fashion Month 2024/2025 ended in Paris with some of the prettiest, yet sexiest, fashion to ever hit the runway. From the frilly and flouncy looks of Alessandro Michele’s debut collection for Valentino, to the leather & lingerie looks from Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski at Hermès and Patric DiCaprio & Bryn Taubensee at Vaguera.

Fashion Inspiration

For designers, fashion weeks are always a time for inspiration. Whether we are hit with a new trend, or a new design detail, chances are that University of Fashion’s vast catalog of how-to videos can teach you how it’s done.

This blog post is the last in our fashion month series entitled, “How Did They Make That?” We will be covering a few of Paris fashion week’s trends and design details and then pointing you to the appropriate lesson on the UoF website.

Pretty is Back!

In Alessandro Michele’s show notes, he said, “Frivolousness is not useless,” and this concept was completely evident in his beautifully designed collection for Valentino. He served up interesting uses for cascade ruffles by cleverly sandwiching them into vertical seams on skirts and dresses. They were positively gorgeous (see above).

Michele also designed several pencil skirts with contrasting multi-tiered flounce layers and then paired them with over-the-top embellished jackets with frog passementerie closures.

To learn how to draft and drape cascade ruffles see the link to our lesson below. Then use your creativity to insert the ruffles into your own designs.

If multi-tiered flounce layers is your thing, then let us teach you the concept. For example, how to plan your tiers and utilize the slash & spread method to add fullness based on the correct shirring ratio for a particular fabric. It’ll then be up to you and your imagination to do the rest! (See Valentino’s triple flounce skirt and dress above).

Although she’s had an impressive career at Maison Martin Margiela, Celine, the Row, and as Creative Director at Hermès since 2014, Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski seems to float under the radar. She is in a class of designers who generally believe that attention is tacky and that their work should speak for itself. Vanhée-Cybulski can easily accomplish this because she is a part of a 187-year-old French maison, known for incredible leather craftsmanship. In fact, the theme of her S/S 2025 Hermès collection was “Inside the Workshop,”featuring bras and panties paired with sheers and leathers as a tribute to dressing the truly liberated woman.

Speaking of women’s lib, Demna Gvasalia, Creative Director at Balenciaga, opened his show with lingerie in what is being called the “no-clothes season.” Gvasalia mixed it all up though, by layering and embroidering his bras and teddies.

There is much to learn when working with leather (and faux leather) and it all begins with our lesson entitled, Leather: Tanning to Types. This lesson teaches the types of animals that are tanned, how they are tanned and how leather skins are measured and sold.

Due to the fact that leather skins vary in shape and size, certain design decisions must be made in the pattern making process. For example, where to plan the ‘cut-lines’. In our lesson, Leather Sorting & Cutting, we cover how to sort the skins by shade prior to cutting the pattern pieces and then how to strategically place and cut each pattern piece on a skin. Our lesson, Leather: Interfacings & Stabilizing Skins, teaches about the appropriate types of interfacing and how to stabilize your leather seams to keep them from stretching, the way it is done in the sample room of the largest leather manufacturer in the fashion industry, GIII Apparel Group.

Our 4-part leather construction lessons will guide you through the process of how to sew a complete women’s leather jacket.

Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball Review | TheXboxHub

It’s time for a guilty admission: I’ve never played Goat Simulator before. In the hustle and bustle of day to day life, I’ve never had a chance to sit down and play the game. But what I have played a heck of a lot of is Pinball.

So, despite my unfamiliarity with Goat Simulator, when I heard Zen Studios was building a table based on the game, I knew I had to check it out.

Pinball FX Goat Simulator Pinball Review 1
Pinball FX Goat Simulator Pinball – a brilliant table

Needless to say, after playing the Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball pack, I’m glad I did! I’ve played a decent number of tables that Zen Studios has made across Pinball FX on multiple platforms and Zen’s mobile offerings (primarily Bethesda Pinball and Pinball Masters). Goat Simulator is, without question, my absolute favourite of their original tables to date.

Bringing the world of Goat Simulator to life, players are tasked with launching a variety of balls (golf balls, soccer balls, basketballs, beachballs, etc.) out of a cannon into the playing field. They are faced immediately with a giant Ubisoft-like Goat Tower in the middle of the table, and upon launching into it can ascend right up the top of the spire. You can also launch balls up the spire, but good luck there.

From there, as you play the table, you get to take on a series of whacky tasks (from charging up 5G towers to getting a lawnmower to start running) and upgrade and electrify your ball. As you up the speed, the game gets crazy fast, leading to a frantic state of play.

Electrifying.

The Goat Simulator Pinball table does a great job of striking a balance between arcadey and classic pinball. The table is very much indebted to the world of video pinball where balls can go at breakneck speeds and visual effects and living statues can breathe life into the table, but Goat Simulator grounds these fantastical elements in strong pinball fundamentals. If you stripped away the crazy speed and nuts tasks, you would still be left with a well designed table with a killer showpiece in the middle. The only area I can really criticize is that the play area is rather cramped to accommodate for the giant spire.

Goat Simulator Pinball is great value too. Pinball FX has a free-to-play base version, but if you want to add tables al a carte, Goat Simulator is among the strongest tables that Zen Studios has built.

All in all, I had a great time with the Goat Simulator PinballFX Pack. There is a genuine case to be made that Pinball FX – Goat Simulator Pinball is the G.O.A.T. of Zen Studios’ original tables. It also has exciting future prospects for other tables from Zen.

THE GOAT!

Recently, Zen Studios joined the Embracer family, which has a number of other beloved gaming franchises under its belt, including Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider, Saints Row, Metro and Remnant, as well as the Lord of the Rings rights. If Zen wants to make tables based on these properties, and they are given the same TLC Goat Simulator has been given, we could get some incredibly exciting new virtual machines in the not-so-distant future!

Only time will tell, but as of right now, run (preferably on four legs), don’t walk to check out this Goat Simulator Pinball pack. It’s anything but BAAAAAAAd (I’ll see myself out).

Strictly star Chris McCausland makes shock exit fears admission as he brushes bottom of the leaderboard

Strictly star Chris McCausland makes shock exit fears admission as he brushes bottom of the leaderboard

Comedian Chris McCausland has made his way to the bottom of the Strictly leaderboard tonight after he failed to impress the judges with his spooky Samba.

Unfortunately, this isn’t much of a surprise for Chris, who made his own fears about a possible Strictly exit clear just moments before he twirled onto the dance floor.

Chris McCausland hints at Strictly exit

Dianne and Chris kicked off tonight’s Halloween special sporting zombie outfits and shimmying a Samba to Staying Alive.

Just moments before his Samba attempt panned out, Chris made his fears clear in a candid VT.

He told viewers: “We’ve lost four people so far this series, two of them on Sambas. And we’ve had four dance offs and three of them have had people who’ve gone on first so the maths is against us this week.”

It seems Chris sadly predicted his spiral to the bottom of the leaderboard, scoring only 26 tonight, tied with telly star and GP Dr Punam.

For all the latest Strictly Come Dancing news head to our dedicated Facebook page here.

Evidently, plenty of viewers weren’t happy with Chris’ scores.

One penned: “Criminal that Craig scored Punam & Gorka higher than Chris & Dianne.” [sic]

Strictly viewers fume over Chris’ score

Another said: “I’m not afraid to throw hands if Chris and Dianne end up in the dance off.”

A third added: “Are the judges trying to get Chris and Dianne out tonight? They were underscored, and so many other couples are being over scored.”

According to bookies, Dr Punam is the favourite to be axed from the show this week.

UK Director at BetMGM, Sam Behar, said: “Punam Krishan might be the favourite for the next Strictly elimination at 6/4 but, unlike in previous weeks, we haven’t got anyone who is odds-on so it’s not a full-gone conclusion by any means.

“The Scottish doctor is 6/4 to go home on Sunday, but Sam Quek (6/4), Pete Wicks (5/1), Shayne Ward (11/2) and even JB Gill (8/1) are all considered contenders for the exit door.”

Will.i.am on backlash over his sexuality and why he has ‘no shame’ in being ‘ultra-feminine’

The Voice judge Will.i.am previously spoke out about not being ashamed of his femininity.

The musician shot to fame back in the 2000s as a member of The Black Eyed Peas. And since then, Will.i.am – who is back on The Voice today (October 26) – has not slowed down one bit.

However, over the years, Will.i.am has had to deal with a ton of invasive questions and rumours about his sexuality. And in 2023, he spoke out about it – revealing he had “no shame” in “being super feminine”.

The Voice judge Will.i.am on being ‘super feminine’

In 2023, Will.i.am took part in an interview on Steven Bartlett’s podcast The Diary Of A CEO. During their conversation, he recalled growing up and the lack of father figures he had.

“Coming of age, I didn’t have a man in my life — a father in my life to guide me through that,” he said. Will.i.am added: “My mom did that, which probably made me ultra feminine. I have no shame in being super feminine.”

Will.i.am recalls people asking if he was gay growing up

As a result, Will.i.am recalled how growing up, lots of people would ask him if he was gay. He said: “I remember in the 1990s, we [didn’t] have the support in the LGBT community like [we do] now.

“So growing up in the 1990s, [people were] like: ‘Are you gay?’ A lot of people would question if I was [gay] because I was feminine.”

      He’s ‘strong with his femininity’

The chart-topping musician then noted: “I’m still feminine. I sit where I sit. I act the way I act. My mannerisms are my mom’s.”

He went on: “I’m strong with my femininity. I think it’s a superpower. When you know who you are, when you love who you are, how you are, how you vibe, that’s what it’s about.

“I like girls,” the musician added before saying: “I never was attracted to men. I’m attracted to females, but I’m feminine.”

A Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024

        0
A Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024

The NFT conversation may be dominated by the big three – CryptoPunks, Bored Apes and Pudgy Penguins – but there’s a fourth collection that deserves, and arguably now receives, equal recognition.

That NFT collection is the Doodles.

This group of 10,000 colourful, vibrant characters have turned a fun, creative and excitement-filled experiment into one of the premier transmedia entertainment brands of our time – but what are they, what should you know about them, and how did they grow into one of the biggest NFT collections around today?

Here’s our complete 2024 guide to Doodles.

A Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024 - NFTs

        What are Doodles?

Doodles is a collection of 10,000 line-drawn NFT characters. Each Doodle – drawn by co-founder Burn Toast – features a playful combination of vibrant colours and bountiful personality. Launching just before the zenith of the NFT craze in 2021, Doodles quickly gained popularity for their distinctive art style, professional outlook, and committed holders.

The trio of creative minds behind Doodles are:

Evan Keast (“Tulip”): A marketing and product expert who played a significant role in the success of CryptoKitties at Dapper Labs.Jordan Castro (“Poopie”): A blockchain technology guru who also contributed to the success of CryptoKitties.Scott Martin (“Burnt Toast”): A Canadian illustrator and animator whose art has been featured by brands such as Google, Snapchat, and WhatsApp.

2022 saw Doodles make two big name hires. First, they brought in Julian Holguin, former President of Billboard, as the CEO of Doodles. Later that year, they announced that Pharrell Williams would become Chief Brand Officer.

Doodles have moved beyond digital collectibles into music, animation, physical products and more, with high-profile partnerships, appearances and references within many mainstream properties, such as Adidas, The Simpsons and more. These have led Doodles to become one of the most recognisable NFT collections in the world.

A Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024 - WearablesA Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024 - Wearables

        The history of Doodles

Doodles debuted on October 17, 2021, with each NFT minted at a price of 0.123 ETH. The collection sold out quickly, with community interest exploding. Collectors were drawn not just to the art but also to Doodles’ clever approach to nurturing its community engagement.

As time went by, Doodles introduced a number of new collections and features:

Space Doodles: This is the official companion collection to Doodles, allowing holders to send their Doodles into space for a range of digital experiences.Dooplicator: An NFT tool launched in summer 2022, allowing holders to create wearable items from the clothing on their Doodles NFTs.Genesis Box: Doodles’ inaugural NFT lootbox released in June 2022, including wearable items that could be equipped by Doodles characters.

Doodles welcomed Pharrell Williams as Chief Brand Officer in June 2022, announcing his appointment at their Genesis Factory IRL side-event at NFT.NYC 2022. Pharrrell’s involvement drew widespread attention, paving the way for collaborations in music, fashion, and entertainment domains, and kick-starting a period of growing recognition for the collection.

The collection acquired award-winning animation studio Golden Wolf in January 2023, bolstering their storytelling and content creation output and making S-tier brand-building and animation their clear goal.

In April 2023, ‘The Stoodio’ entered beta on the Flow blockchain. This introduced Doodles 2, a free-to-join platform that allowed anyone to create a Doodles-esque character and equip it with a variety of digital wearables, both from Doodles NFTs and from lootboxes.

The Doodles Inkubator was introduced in July 2023. This platform served as a place for community-driven initiatives to be highlighted to Doodles holders, with funding and assistance given to bring these creative extensions to the Doodles brand to life – with the soon-to-form Community Council fostering stronger ties between the Doodles brand and its holders.

August 2023 saw Doodles collaborate with CAMP to create a 3,500ft pop-up experience in Chicago, featuring real-world representation of the Stoodio, and giving visitors a way to physically dive into the world of Doodles.

The remainder of 2023 and the first half of 2024 saw a flurry of activity. Brand partnerships were created with the likes of Crocs, Casio G-SHOCK, Adidas and AriZona, and new initiatives were pushed, with Castro releasing the $POOP token, the announcement of record label Doodles Records, and the announcement of their inaugural animated short, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse”, featuring the likes of Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, and Coi Leray.

This animation would premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, attracting mainstream media coverage as Doodles burst onto the world stage.

Like any NFT collection, Doodles has faced some controversy.

Castro attracted criticism in March 2023 for stating that Doodles was “no longer an NFT project”. This caused concerns that the collection would turn its back on its web3 roots to pursue mainstream success – although since then, Doodles seems to have treated its connections to web3 in much the same way as other collections that have attracted mainstream eyes, such as Bored Apes and Pudgy Penguins.

A Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024 - Dullsville and the DoodleverseA Complete Guide to Doodles in 2024 - Dullsville and the Doodleverse

        What’s next for Doodles?

The team has laid out ambitious plans to extend their presence, reach, and mainstream credibility.

With the success of “Dullsville and the Doodleverse”, Doodles will be doubling-down on the talent of Golden Wolf and Burnt Toast to produce additional animated content. This will likely revolve around the recently-released DoodlesTV, an online pay-per-view platform for watching Doodles-created content.

On the blockchain front, Doodles is shifting The Stoodio – and hence Doodles 2 – away from the Flow blockchain to the Base blockchain. This aims to improve usability and scalability whilst reduce costs, with Doodles 2 set to become the primary way for mainstream audiences to interact with the Doodles brand.

With mainstream eyes and many big-name brand partnerships under their belt, after the success of “Dullsville and the Doodleverse”, we can expect to see many more of these collaborations down the line. The 2023 release of the Pharrell Pack – a collaboration between Pharrell and Adidas for a line of digital wearables – was a clear example of this.

Doodles has emerged as one of the true pioneers of the NFT industry. By continuously pushing boundaries whilst staying true to their web3 origins, the collection has achieved recognition and fanfare both across web3 and with mainstream audiences – a rare feat for a blockchain-based project.

As Doodles continues to grow, they continue to pursue their ambitious plan to become an entertainment powerhouse – and from what we’ve seen so far, they have every chance at succeeding.

Bitcoin ETFs Are Booming as BlackRock Shatters Records – Decrypt

Bitcoin ETFs Are Booming as BlackRock Shatters Records – Decrypt

In case it wasn’t already obvious, Bitcoin exchange traded-funds (ETFs) are hot—with demand for the products smashing all expectations.

Data from Bloomberg shows that of the 575 ETFs launched this year, 14 of the top 30 products have been either new Bitcoin or Ethereum funds, with the top four spots owned by Bitcoin funds.

And in the past four years, of the 1,800 ETFs that started trading during that span, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust is the biggest by far in terms of inflows, the data shows.

ETFs are popular investment vehicles that trade on stock exchanges. They allow investors to buy and sell shares that track the price of anything from the S&P 500 and gold to Bitcoin and real estate firms.

In January, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the Bitcoin products, allowing 10 such funds to start trading on American stock exchanges after a decade of denials.

The investment vehicles have been widely popular, attracting billions of dollars in months in flows. Last week, they collectively crossed the $20 billion mark—smashing expectations by taking just 10 months to do what gold ETFs did over five years.

The reason for the fast money, according to Bloomberg Intelligence ETF research analyst James Seyffart, is partly down to investors who had wanted to invest in Bitcoin for some time, but didn’t have a safe or easy way before the approval of the ETFs. Now that the ETFs are trading, that demand is rapidly entering the market.

“I think it was partly pent-up demand,” he told Decrypt. “But it’s also new demand as people are learning more.”

He added that traditional financial institutions are interested in the products too—including hedge funds involved in futures trading. “That has helped improve flows and demand,” he said, adding that hedge funds have been going long on the ETFs and then selling the futures contracts.

Massive institutions—including Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs—now have exposure to Bitcoin via the new products. The price of Bitcoin even hit a new all-time high in March following their approvals.

But the Ethereum counterparts haven’t had as much luck thus far. The SEC approved the ETFs for the second-biggest cryptocurrency—reluctantly, it appeared—in May. They haven’t done nearly as much in terms of inflows since trading began in July.

This is partially because Grayscale’s Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) previously operated like a closed-end fund rather than an ETF before July. Its subsequent conversion means that investors who previously had cash locked up in the fund have fast been redeeming shares—leading to massive outflows.

So far, $3 billion has left the fund, bringing the total flows for all nine Ethereum ETFs currently trading to negative $472.7 million, Farside data shows.

However, that doesn’t mean demand won’t pick up. Investors have thrown cash at the other products, and that could mean a turnaround is on the horizon.

“It’s just that the outflows from ETHE are overwhelming the inflows to these other [Ethereum] ETFs,” added Seyffart. “For now.”

‘American Pickers’ Fallout Explained: What Caused the Feud?

The American Pickers fallout continues — outlasting the feud between the former costars.

Following the tragic death of Frank Fritz, fans are divided over drama that surrounded the late American Pickers star in life.

Famously, Frank once clashed with his co-star, Mike Wolfe. Though they resolved their differences, that conflict left a memorable mark on the History Channel series.

Who is to blame for the feud? Allegedly, American Pickers itself caused the problem.

Who is to blame for the ‘American Pickers’ fallout?

The erstwhile feud between American Pickers stars Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe is part of the History Channel series’ complicated legacy.

On September 30, 2024, Frank passed away. He was only 60 years old, and had suffered a stroke just two years earlier.

Alongside his loved ones, 59-year-old Mike Wolfe was also by his side. The two stars reconciled following Frank’s stroke … but had been at odds, not even on speaking terms, for years.

In a new interview with The US Sun, Jerry Genreau — a friend of the late Frank Fritz — explains the American Pickers fallout and which party he believes is to blame.

“Working with anybody on a daily basis for 10 or 15 years is tough,” Jerry suggested.

“Mike is very, very scripted and knowledgeable about what he does, and Frank would shoot from the hip,” Frank’s friend characterized.

Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe of American Pickers fame in January of 2011.Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe of American Pickers fame in January of 2011.

How did the American Pickers stars end their feud?

According to Jerry, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz reconciled in the aftermath of Frank’s stroke because “whatever happened between them, time always heals.”

That said, he knows that fans missed out on them making nice. “I wish everything could’ve come around and ended with one season of them all reconciling,” Jerry expressed.

Previously, Jerry had opined that Frank would have happily returned to American Pickers if his health had been up to it.

Fans may recall, Frank Fritz actually left American Pickers a couple of years prior to his stroke. He had numerous health problems. In 2020, he departed from filming to undergo back surgery. The show formally let him go in 2021.

That was the same year when Frank shared his then-ongoing feud with Mike. He revealed that the two had not spoken in two years, and accused Mike of having not called him to check on him.

Frank also expressed frustrations at the time about the show, which he felt favored Mike very strongly. He accused Mike of wanting to replace him on American Pickers. (Frank believed that Mike’s brother, Robbie, would take his place — which ultimately turned out to be right on the money)

At least they reconciled before the end

As we mentioned, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz reconnected following Frank’s 2022 stroke.

Annoyance with a friend and coworker can drive people apart. But there’s not enjoying clashing personalities and styles of working, and there’s the reality of life and death.

It sounds like Frank’s friend clearly blames American Pickers for the drama. Reality TV stardom is truly a double-edged sword.

This week saw the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and with it, the return of a classic Zombies experience. It’s terrific, and took our writer right back to the nights he spent happily playing the mode with friends back in the days of Black Ops 3. Meanwhile, the arrival of Destiny 2’s latest content update, and the terrible drop rate for god rolls on its hottest weapon, has some fans certain that there’s a statistical disadvantage for that drop to occur. The result is a compelling conspiracy theory about how loot drops actually work in Destiny 2, and given that the community has the statistics to back it up, Bungie is now conducting its own investigation. Find these stories and more in the pages ahead.

Donald Trump made his highly anticipated debut on the “The Joe Rogan Experience” Friday night … and it sure seemed like 45 was not leaving without a public endorsement — that very moment!

DT sat for a nearly 3-hour interview with Joe Rogan … their conversation touched on several topics … but one moment that really stood out was Trump requesting — practically demanding — Joe’s seal of approval for re-election.

Trump flaunted his “nicest endorsement” from Elon Musk … before he told Rogan … “You should do the same thing, Joe.”

A relentless 45 told JR there was no way he could be a Kamala Harris supporter … at one point joking … “You’re a Khabib [Nurmagomedov] person, but you’re not a Kamala person” … which got a legit laugh out of Joe, with KN being a UFC superstar.

Despite the pestering … Rogan never agreed he’d endorse Trump — at least at the moment — and he, obviously, didn’t deny he would later.

Of course … the two are not strangers … Trump and Joe run into one another when DT goes to UFC fights … which he’s done several times over the years.

With only a little more than a week before the election … Joe still has some time to see if Trump’s offer was one he can’t refuse.
