A Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024

Bored Apes, Pudgy Penguins, Cool Cats – this NFT collection debuted far later than all of them, but in the space of two years, it has grown to become a major player in one of the world’s largest entertainment industries.

    This NFT collection is Azuki.

Starting with landmark debut mint, Azuki has been met with a few controversies, but stands proudly today as a new force to shake-up the anime industry. What is Azuki, what should you know about the collection, and why should it be on your radar?

Here’s our complete 2024 guide to Azuki.

A Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024 - NFTs

    What is Azuki?

Azuki is a collection of 10,000 anime-style avatar NFTs, inspired by modern manga and Japanese streetwear. Each NFT features a unique mix of traits, including hairstyles, clothing, accessories and more, giving each Azuki a one-of-a-kind look.

Created by Chiru Labs – a team of LA-based artists and developers – the collection is led by the pseudonymous originator known as ZAGABOND. With a team that holds vast experience in crypto, technology, and gaming, Chiru wanted to build an NFT collection that took a unique look at the anime industry.

Holders of Azuki NFTs are granted an array of benefits. These include membership to online collective “The Garden”, access to exclusive asset drops and unique collaborations, entry to holder-only in-person events, and much more.

There are long-established rumours of Chiru Labs looking at developing a native token for the Azuki ecosystem, but as of writing, this has yet to come to fruition.

A Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024 - BeanzA Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024 - Beanz

    The history of Azuki

The Azuki collection was minted on January 12, 2022 using a Dutch auction format – where prices start high and decline over time. The initial price was set at a hefty 1 ETH, but that didn’t stop the collection from selling out within 3 minutes, raising an incredible 8,700 ETH – worth over $29 million USD at the time.

Following this landmark launch, Azuki NFTs surged on secondary markets, seeing over $300 million USD in trading volume – boosting the floor price into double-digit ETH.

In April 2022, Azuki debuted Beanz – a 20,000-piece companion collection. These NFTs were airdropped to existing Azuki holders, giving them access to exclusive Discord channels and merchandise releases. Beanz have become a low-cost entry point to the Azuki ecosystem, and are regularly traded volumes to this day.

The start of 2023 saw the introduction of Hilumia, an online experience in the Azuki universe. Open to the public, but with only Azuki and Beanz holders able to interact, Hilumia hosted branded games, activities and online content, giving fans a deeper look into the world of Azuki.

April 2023 saw Azuki partner with IPX, the company behind Line Friends, for a branded collaboration with the Beanz collection, resulting in exclusive co-branded merchandise and real-world activations.

A Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024 - Enter The GardenA Complete Guide to Azuki in 2024 - Enter The Garden

During their “Follow The Rabbit” event in June 2023, Azuki announced their second companion collection: Azuki Elementals. The collection minted out in 15 minutes on June 27, but controversy arose over the lack of minting limits, and the similarity of the art to the main Azuki collection.

In response to the backlash, Azuki revealed that an anime anthology series was in production. Its official announcement came in January 2024, with global advertising firm Dentsu announcing their involvement in April 2024, helping to assemble an all-star team of anime veterans to work on the project.

This anime series, titled Enter The Garden, premiered in late April 2024 with the first episode, titled The Waiting Man. The episode was met with rave reviews for its writing, voice acting, and overall quality – especially as a free-to-air series hosted on YouTube.

In June 2024, ZAGABOND revealed Azuki’s long-term goal – to create what he termed “anime 2.0”, powered by AnimeCoin. September 2024 saw the reveal of Anime.com – including new Azuki mascots Ayame and Decky – alongside a public waitlist, and the private launch of AnimeChain.

It hasn’t all been sunshine and roses. It came to light in May 2022 that ZAGABOND had been involved in several abandoned NFT projects, such as Tendies, CryptoZunks, and CryptoPhunks. There were widespread fears that Azuki could become a rug pull, causing a sharp decline in floor prices – but after an apology from ZAGABOND, and the commitment shown to Azuki to date, any fears have largely disappeared.

As mentioned earlier, the Azuki Elementals mint in June 2023 fell short of expectations. With no minting limits, all of the Elementals were minted solely by Azuki and Beanz holders, meaning there was zero public access. Due to how similar the Elementals looked to the original Azuki collection, the prices of both Azuki and Beanz fell dramatically – although both stabilised in due course.

    What’s next for Azuki?

The goal of Azuki is clear – to shake up the anime industry, and to improve the experience of being an anime fan.

Episode 2 of Enter The Garden is set to premiere very soon, and Azuki continues to grow across its animations, merchandise, behind the scenes content and more.

Though we are yet to discover the exact purpose of Anime.com, AnimeCoin and AnimeChain, there are high expectations for each of these initiatives – especially given the expertise, commitment and quality demonstrated into their flagship Enter The Garden series.

Chiru Labs continue to put their holders – and the wider anime community – at the heart of Azuki, and they’re taking this community-driven approach from web3 into a mainstream environment.

In just two years, Azuki have had a groundbreaking impact on web3. In 2025 and beyond, they could have a revolutionary impact on the anime industry.

Immutable Receives Wells Notice from SEC, Likely Related to IMX Token – Cryptoflies News

Immutable Receives Wells Notice from SEC, Likely Related to IMX Token – Cryptoflies News

    7

Web3 gaming platform Immutable has received a “Wells notice” from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) — signaling that the SEC may be preparing a lawsuit against the company.

In a statement published Friday, Immutable noted that the SEC’s notice includes “non-specific allegations” related to securities law violations and alleged misrepresentations by the company.

Although the exact reasons for the SEC’s action remain unclear, Immutable believes the issue may relate to the 2021 listing and private sales of its IMX token — an ERC-20 utility token central to the Immutable ecosystem. The SEC may consider IMX a security.

The Wells notice was not limited to the company itself; the SEC also issued notices to the Immutable CEO and the Digital Worlds Foundation, the organization that issued the IMX token.

Immutable expressed disappointment over the timing of the SEC’s actions, particularly as the Web3 sector continues to seek regulatory clarity in the United States.

The company noted that the SEC’s approach to Web3 has been inconsistent and has often lacked clear communication. “It appears that some elements of the SEC do not want to engage in a constructive dialogue,” Immutable stated.

Concerns grow over SEC’s approach to Web3

Immutable criticized what it sees as a lack of transparency from the SEC, a sentiment shared by many in the industry who feel that the agency’s actions have hindered the growth of blockchain technology and Web3 initiatives.

Immutable’s statement referenced previous SEC actions within the Web3 space, drawing parallels to cases like the one involving Ripple, a blockchain-based payment platform. Last year, a U.S. judge ruled that Ripple’s XRP token was not a security.

The SEC later investigated Ethereum as a potential security, only to drop the case after blockchain technology firm ConsenSys filed a lawsuit to protect the Ethereum ecosystem.

The SEC has taken similar steps against other companies, particularly those operating in the non-fungible token (NFT) space. In one recent instance, the SEC issued a Wells notice to OpenSea, stating that NFTs traded on its platform are securities.

Other notable cases include actions against the Flyfish Club, an NFT-based restaurant, which agreed to a $750,000 settlement in September over claims of offering unregistered securities.

Similarly, the SEC penalized media company Impact Theory $6.1 million last year for issuing unregistered NFT securities called “Founder’s Keys.” The Stoner Cats NFT project faced similar allegations and paid a $1 million penalty, while Dapper Labs recently settled a lawsuit related to its NBA Top Shot NFTs for $4 million.

Industry leaders and community call for clarity and support

These legal actions have led to widespread concern within the Web3 community, with many creators and companies calling for greater regulatory clarity. In July, two artists took legal action against the SEC, seeking guidance on whether NFTs should be considered securities.

The uncertainty around NFT classification has also led some organizations to advocate for more defined regulations. The Digital Chamber, a U.S.-based blockchain advocacy group, recently urged Congress to classify certain NFTs as consumer goods rather than securities, following the SEC’s enforcement action against OpenSea.

To support NFT creators and provide legal protection against the rising regulatory challenges, Coinbase launched a $6 million legal defense fund in September. The initiative, a collaboration with OpenSea, a16zcrypto, and several law firms, aims to offer free legal assistance to those facing SEC actions related to NFTs.

Where Was Gilligan’s Island Filmed? Every Major Location, Revealed – SlashFilm

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Enterprising fans of Sherwood Schwartz’s 1964 sitcom “Gilligan’s Island” have figured out more or less where the “Island” might be in the Pacific Ocean. Using Hawai’i as a starting point, and including known information about the make and model of the S.S. Minnow, certain viewers on Reddit have tried to calculate how far such a boat could have drifted during a three-hour tour. Some have even incorporated known tropical storm wind speeds and the fastest a non-operational ship could have drifted in the Pacific to locate Gilligan’s desert isle. One calculation puts the island about two-thirds of the way to Midway Island from Hawai’i. Those calculations, however, are based on a lot of unspoken assumptions.

Much easier to figure out are the locations of the “Gilligan’s Island,” as complete records exist on the show’s high-profile production. Most of “Gilligan’s Island” was famously filmed indoors at the CBS Studio Center, located at 4024 Radford Ave. in Studio City, California. The Radford Center was built way back in 1928 when a lettuce farm was transformed by producer Mack Sennett into a motion picture facility. Silent superstars like W.C. Fields, Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin all filmed there.

The following decade, the studio fell into the ownership of Republic Pictures, and many famous serials and Westerns were filmed there. In the 1950s, TV productions moved in and hit shows like “Leave It to Beaver,” “The Big Valley,” and “The Rifleman” were filmed there on a weekly basis. By the early 1960s, the studio became devoted to TV production almost exclusively, with CBS leaning heavily on the property to make “Gunsmoke,” “My Three Sons,” and, yes, “Gilligan’s Island.” All the island sets were clearly interiors, and the cast filmed nearly all of their scenes on constructed sets.

But where were all the exteriors? The outdoor locations have a much more far-reaching geography. Luckily, the website SetJetters has tracked down all the notable Hawai’ian locations where “Gilligan’s Island” was filmed.

Gilligan’s Island’s title screen included shots of two different tropical islands

The notable outdoor lagoon of “Gilligan’s Island” was also located in Studio City and was merely an outsize water tank. The Lagoon wasn’t heated or filtered, so the stagnant water became brackish and gross after being left uncovered year-round. The “Gilligan’s Island” actors had to complain to the producers to get the tank drained and refilled with fresh water. On busy days traffic days, shooting on the lagoon had to be delayed, as one could hear cars from the nearby 101 Freeway. The lagoon was paved over in 1995, and its old location is now a parking lot. (As Joni Mitchell once observed, they paved paradise …)

The opening theme sequence of “Gilligan’s Island,” however, was filmed in Hawai’i, and most of the outdoor ocean scenes were filmed off the coast of Waikiki. The marina where the S.S. Minnow was moored is the still-functional Ala Wai Harbor on the southern coast of Oahu. The opening sequence was filmed shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, so the flags in the sequence are at half-mast.

The title card of “Gilligan’s Island” was superimposed over a distant island, meant to be a wide shot of the show’s home location. For season 1’s title sequence, that island was footage of Sandy Cay, an island in the Bahamas. (Fun fact: if you have $3 million burning a hole in your pocket, you can buy Sandy Cay for yourself.) The second season of “Gilligan’s Island” was shot in color, and the title sequence footage of Sandy Cay was replaced by shots of Coconut Island, located in Oahu’s Kaneohe Bay. It is current the site of the Hawai’ian Institute of Marine Biology.

The color footage of the marina, shot for the title sequences of seasons 2 and 3, were merely filmed in Marina del Rey, California.

The beach where the S.S. Minnow crashed was also in Hawai’i

The title sequence footage of the S.S. Minnow, damaged and washed up on shore, was also filmed in Hawai’i. According to Sherwood Schwartz’s memoir “Inside Gilligan’s Island: From Creation to Syndication,” Schwartz scoured the Hawai’ian islands, looking for just the right kind of boat that would serve as the S.S. Minnow. He also needed one that he could smash holes into, as seen in the above photograph. He even tells an amusing anecdote about how he and the “Gilligan’s Island” production crew arranged the boat on a local beach and got to smashing when a very baffled old man wandered by, wondering what the heck they were doing.

The remote beach was located one island west of Oahu on Kauai. Specifically, it was Moloa’a Beach. According to Schwartz, the boat was already non-functional when he bought it, so it needed to be towed all the way from Oahu to Kauai for filming.

When the actors filmed their Hawai’ian footage, according to the fansite GilligansIsle.com, they stayed at the Coco Palms Hotel in Kaui, near Wailua. Sadly, that resort has been torn down, and the resort built to replace it was damaged by Hurricane Iniki. Filming there only took four days, from November 18 to November 22, 1963, the day Kennedy was shot. After that, it was back to Southern California to shoot the bulk of the series, all within earshot of the 101 Freeway.

Natalie Schafer, who played Mrs. Howell, once admitted that she only took the “Gilligan’s Island” job because she wanted a brief, free vacation to Hawai’ia.

Sony has been developing PS5 Pro for over 5 years – WholesGame

Sony’s PlayStation division has revealed that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro console has been in development for over five years, with planning beginning even before the launch of the original PS5. This long-term vision demonstrates Sony’s commitment to elevating the gaming experience on the PlayStation platform by anticipating advancements in gaming technology and user expectations.

From the start, Sony’s team aimed to deliver significant enhancements in graphics, speed, and user experience. The PS5 Pro, as the latest entry in Sony’s console lineup, is positioned not only as a powerful alternative to the standard PS5 but as a device that meets the evolving demands of a more sophisticated gaming ecosystem. Its development underscores Sony’s belief that gaming technology requires a forward-looking approach, where every new product is envisioned with the next generation already in mind.

The technical improvements expected in the PS5 Pro are substantial. Sony aims to push the boundaries of visuals with sharper resolution and smoother frame rates, catering to both competitive and casual gamers. The Pro model is designed to support high-end televisions and immersive experiences, such as virtual reality. These advances indicate Sony’s focus on providing a platform capable of handling more intensive game mechanics and detailed graphics. Enhanced performance, such as quicker load times and more responsive controls, are integral to Sony’s vision for the PS5 Pro, which it hopes will redefine what gamers expect from a console.

In addition, Sony recognizes that user expectations have grown, with gamers wanting richer experiences without waiting for the next console generation. The PS5 Pro was envisioned as a bridge between current hardware and future capabilities, ensuring that users can access the best gaming experience without frequent hardware upgrades. Sony’s move aligns with industry trends where mid-generation upgrades, such as the PS4 Pro, have proven popular among players who seek performance boosts without investing in entirely new consoles.

By developing the PS5 Pro over a five-year period, Sony is demonstrating its dedication to an iterative but robust approach to console development. Rather than a simple hardware refresh, the PS5 Pro represents an evolution of the PlayStation ecosystem, meeting the growing demand for performance and immersive experiences. With Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro poised to elevate gaming standards, players can anticipate a console that delivers not only on power but also on an experience tailored for the future of gaming.

Speculation Swirls of Hedi Slimane Heading to Chanel as Michael Rider Replaces Him at Celine

Fashion thrives on change, and behind these status-quo-challenging shakeups often lie designers. Gabrielle Chanel’s singular vision to liberate women from restrictive clothing spurred the immense success of her label, Chanel, and then there’s Daniel Lee, whose tenure at Bottega Veneta saw fringed skirts and the inception of celebrity-favourite It-bags like the Jodie, which ushered in a new era of youthfulness at the historic Italian label.

This undercurrent of change is more relevant than ever in 2024, considering the reshuffling of personnel at fashion’s top jobs. With this typically comes a drastic switch in the aesthetic sensibilities of the brand—think Sabato De Sarno’s understated take at Gucci compared to Alessandro Michele’s tendency toward romantic excess, an approach he’s already bringing to Valentino.

As of August this year, we’ve seen creative directors like Peter Hawkings and Dries Van Noten unexpectedly bowing out at their respective houses without announcing a successor. Van Noten, in particular, embraces the possibility of his replacement veering away from the codes he’s established over 38 years at his eponymous brand. “No, I absolutely don’t want them to do it the way that I do,” the member of the Antwerp Six told Business of Fashion’s Tim Blanks in an interview, explaining that he’d prefer them to approach his brand with a “new eye”.

Chanel and Givenchy have faced the same situation since Virginie Viard and Matthew M. Williams left their posts at the respective fashion houses. In the case of such industry power players, speculation amongst fashion insiders about Viard and Williams’s potential successors are understandably rife.

For one, there were reports by the likes of Fashionnetwork on John Galliano’s rumoured decision to leave Maison Margiela for Fendi or Chanel—or even to make a return at Dior—although Maison Margiela has not confirmed this. Amongst the three labels, though, Fendi has been highlighted as the most likely destination for Galliano if he were to be tapped for another brand, considering his past controversies.

Notably, Maison Margiela is missing from the roster of upcoming presentations for Spring/Summer 2025, though an event will be staged by the house in late September.

In other news, Celine’s Hedi Slimane—known for his distinctive svelte silhouettes and references to the rock’n’roll genre—is speculated to be in the running for Chanel’s top position once again by major publications like W and Highsnobiety. He had previously faced similar rumours when he left Saint Laurent in 2016.

But Galliano and Slimane are not the only creative directors being watched closely—so is Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson, who has been said by multiple sources on the internet to leave Loewe for Gucci. This, like many others on this list, has not been officially confirmed.

Over at other fashion houses, the future seems a tad more certain with new creative directors already in place. See the latest on the confirmed changes in creative directors at each brand ahead.

Michael Rider Is The New Creative Director Of Celine

October 2024: Michael Rider is the new creative director of Celine, replacing Hedi Slimane (Photo: Celine)

Hedi Slimane’s successor has been named: Michael Rider is the new artistic director of Celine. From early 2025, he will helm the French fashion brand’s womenswear, menswear, leather good, accessories, and couture.

Rider was most recently the creative director of Polo Ralph Lauren. But Philophiles may know him as the design director of Celine during Phoebe Philo’s tenure. He served that role for 10 years. Before that, he worked alongside Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga.

“Celine is a maison with values very close to my heart and a beautiful heritage to build on,” said Rider in a statement. “I am honoured to come back and shape the future of the maison together with the Celine team.”

      Hedi Slimane Exits Celine

October 2024: Hedi Slimane is exiting Celine. He is one of the many fashion designers involved in the recent reshuffling within the fashion industry (Photo: Getty Images)

Hedi Slimane is saying goodbye to Celine. The news was announced in a statement by LVMH, which owns the French fashion brand. Slimane became the artistic, creative and image director of Celine in February 2018.

“Under his creative and artistic direction, Celine has experienced exceptional growth and established itself as an iconic French couture house,” said LVMH in its statement while Celine noted in a statement “Under his creative and artistic direction, Celine has experienced exceptional growth and established itself as an iconic French couture house”.

“The holistic vision of Hedi Slimane, his exigence and rigor have made it possible to redefine the codes of Celine whilst reaffirming its feminine and Parisian roots. He has also remarkably enriched new territories for the maison such as the men’s silhouette, couture and haute parfumerie. The extraordinary journey taken together over the last seven years has made Celine a house with a formidable foundation for the future.”

There are no news yet on where Slimane is headed next. The fashion designer previously made his mark at the helms of Saint Laurent and Dior Homme. At Paris Fashion Week, Slimane unveiled Celine’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which included tweed ensembles. The collection has led some fashion insiders to speculate that Slimane may be headed to Chanel, which is yet to announce its creative director.

Sarah Burton Is Givenchy’s New Creative Director

September 2024: Sarah Burton is the new creative director of Givenchy (Photo: Givenchy)

One of the biggest announcements coming out of New York Fashion Week? Sarah Burton is the new creative director of Givenchy. Burton succeeds Matthew M. Williams, who exited the French luxury fashion house in January 2024.Burton is the former creative director of Alexander McQueen, and the longtime right-hand woman of the brand’s late founder, Lee McQueen. During her tenure at Alexander McQueen, which she helmed from 2010 to 2023, she designed the royal wedding dress for Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton. The British designer was also awarded an OBE for her services to British fashion.

Burton will present her first collection for Givenchy during Paris Fashion Week in March 2025. She will oversee both women’s and men’s collections.“It is a great honour to be joining the beautiful house of Givenchy, it is a jewel,” Burton told WWD. “I am so excited to be able to write the next chapter in the story of this iconic house and to bring to Givenchy my own vision, sensibility and beliefs.”

Haider Ackermann Replaces Peter Hawkings At Tom Ford

September 2024: Haider Ackermann is the new creative director of Tom Ford (Photo: Tom Ford)

Haider Ackermann is the new creative director of Tom Ford. He replaces Peter Hawkings, who led the American luxury label for one year and departed in July 2024.“It is with tremendous pride that I will seek to honour the legacy of Tom Ford, a man I have long admired and have the utmost respect for,” says Ackermann, who previously helmed Berluti. “I am much looking forward to what lies ahead.” Tom Ford offered his stamp of approval: “I have long been a great fan of Haider’s work. I find both his womenswear and menswear equally compelling. He is an incredible colourist, his tailoring is sharp, and above all he is modern. We share many of the same historical references, and I could not be more excited to see what he does with the brand.”Ackermann succeeds Peter Hawkings as creative director of #TomFord. He will show his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week in March 2025. “I suspect that I will be the first on my feet to applaud after his show in March,” says Ford. Like Ford, Ackermann has a star appeal: his headline-making designs have been worn on the red carpet by celebrities like Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton and Kylie Jenner.

      David Koma Joins Blumarine

Earlier this week, Blumarine announced that it has tapped David Koma as its new creative director following Walter Chiapponi’s exit in March. This was unexpected but not shocking, considering how the designer’s slinky, celebrity-favourite offerings at his eponymous brand reflects that of Blumarine’s.

      Veronica Leoni Joins Calvin Klein

Likewise, Veronica Leoni at Calvin Klein just makes sense. Pre-Calvin Klein, the Italian designer had cut her teeth at the likes of The Row and Phoebe Philo’s Céline—who excel at producing elevated, wearable basics—before launching her own brand, Quira. Come next March, expect a lineup of tailored, minimal pieces on Calvin Klein’s Fall/Winter 2025 runway.

      Paul Andrew Joins Sergio Rossi

Paul Andrew, who was previously at Alexander McQueen and Ferragamo, was just onboarded as footwear giant Sergio Rossi’s creative director. Andrew also has his own label, Paul Andrew.

Internet Star Peanut The Squirrel Seized And Euthanized

Animal lovers are mourning the loss of a squirrel who stole the hearts of many online. Peanut the Squirrel, owned by Mark Longo, was seized and euthanized earlier this week. Longo is speaking out about the “selfish” people who had a hand in Peanut’s unfair demise.

Peanut was well known on Instagram and TikTok, as Longo shared many videos and photos of his furry best friend. He recently took to Instagram to share the sad events that happened this week.

Longo took to Instagram to share his frustration, anger, and sadness about what happened to the squirrel he called his “best friend.”

“Well internet, you WON. You took one of the most amazing animals away from me because of your selfishness. To the group of people who called DEC, there’s a special place in hell for you,” he began his Instagram caption. “Today at 10 am Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024…The NYC State DEC showed up to my house and took Peanut. He was TAKEN to the EUTHANIZED.”

He continued his caption to explain that he’s “in shock, disbelief, and disgusted” about who did this to Peanut.

        Article continues below advertisement

“For the last 7 years, Peanut has been my best friend. He’s been the center of my world and many of yours for so long. I don’t know how to process this, emotionally,” he continued. “Last year we moved to NY in hopes of starting a NONPROFIT animal rescue in PNUT’s name.”

Mark Longo Doesn’t Know How He Will ‘Continue To Fundraise’ For The Nonprofit

Longo’s caption continued to share his frustration and explain that he’s not sure how he will be able to keep the funding the rescues without Peanut.

“With over 350 rescues, we’ve relied heavily on PNUT and his internet family to gather donations to help more animals,” he explained. “I don’t even know how I will continue to fundraise for this nonprofit.”

“I can’t believe I am reading this. Why can’t miserable people just let others be happy. And WHY in the right mind would any agency euthanize him. I’m so sorry. This is so maddening and sickening,” one follower wrote.

Another added, “I am absolutely HORRIFIED and sick to my stomach reading this. I literally cannot believe that 1) this is how the laws in the state of NY are and 2) that anyone would go out of their way to report you. What an absolute tragedy. My heart breaks for you guys and for sweet baby Peanut.”

Mark Longo Shared An Emotional Video On Instagram

Just a few hours ago, Longo shared an emotional video on Peanut’s Instagram page holding back tears.

“I just want to say thank you to all of you. Peanut was the best thing that ever happened to us, and we got confirmation that they put him down,” he said. “I want to continue to fight this fight as much as I can, but we need all of you to come together and help us. Please continue to help us to raise money for the ongoing legal battles and for the nonprofit so we can keep Peanut’s name alive. Thank you all.”

The video’s caption shares more of the story.

“RIP MY BEST FRIEND. Thank you for the best 7 years of my life. Thank you for bringing so much joy to us and the world. I’m sorry I failed you but thank you for everything. ‘Call For Justice For Peanut The Squirrel And NYSDEC Reform’

        Change.org

A petition and a GoFundMe asks for help from fans and animal lovers for change and reform. Over on Change.org, a petition with an “urgent call to action” has been signed by more than 31,000 people. On GoFundMe, more than $14,000 has been raised so far.

The GoFundMe explains that Peanut was euthanized, as well as Longo’s raccoon, Fred.

“It is with profound sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news: on October 30th, the DEC made the devastating decision to euthanize our beloved Peanut the squirrel and Fred the raccoon. Despite our passionate outcry for compassion, the agency chose to ignore our pleas, leaving us in deep shock and grief. To add to our anguish, they informed the media of their decision before even notifying P’nuts Freedom Farm, his loving home. This demonstrates a troubling lack of respect and empathy. Their lives were precious, and we refuse to accept this loss in silence,” the GoFundMe description reads.

“We urgently call on all of you to stand with us in demanding accountability from the DEC and the New York State government.  We must advocate for a more passionate approach to wildlife management to ensure that no other animals suffer such a fate. Together, we can amplify our voices and fight for the change that is desperately needed.”

With more than 537,000 followers on Instagram and an additional 6,000 on TikTok, it’s safe to say that Peanut will be missed by many.

Just a few days before tragedy struck, Longo shared a video of Peanut climbing onto his head to get a waffle. The video also features other animals that Longo cares for.

Peanut’s Instagram page has more than 1,400 videos of the talented little squirrel.

How Celeb Facialist Shani Darden Maintains Glowy Skin When Traveling

How Celeb Facialist Shani Darden Maintains Glowy Skin When Traveling

Glow everywhere you go! Celebrity facialist Shani Darden is known for keeping Hollywood stars like Jessica Alba, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, Kelly Rowland, Shay Mitchell, Emmy Rossum and more look flawless, and now she’s telling ET how you can do the same wherever you are — or are going.

With the holidays and travel season approaching, Darden spilled her tips for maintaining luminous skin pre, mid, and post flight.

Before hopping on a plane, the Shani Darden Skincare founder recommends following a regimen filled with high-quality products that suit your specific skincare needs.

          Frankie Marin

“Start with the Cleansing Serum, which is a gentle cleanser with hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin, oat bran to re-balance moisture levels, and olive extract to soothe irritation or inflammation. Next, use iS Clinical’s Pro-Heal Serum to protect the skin and offset the effects of oxidative stress,” she says.

“For extra hydration, use the Moisture Boost Plumping Serum and Intensive Eye Renewal Cream. Finish with Supergoop’s Play Everyday SPF, which is one of my favorite sunscreens. It’s hydrating but doesn’t cause congestion and has an SPF 50,” Darden adds.

When you’re up in the air, the skincare guru suggests incorporating a few essentials as you sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight.

“I always travel with my Facial Sculpting Wand and use it when I’m on board. It really helps to counteract puffiness from flying and will keep your face sculpted. I usually wear eye masks as well to keep my under eyes hydrated. Once I remove the eye masks, I put on my eye cream and love to use it with the wand to help the product penetrate deeper,” she shares.

Next, it’s time to reapply your sunscreen.

“When you’re traveling by plane, the UV rays are that much more intense, so keeping yourself protected is essential. … UV rays can penetrate the clouds, windows, and so on, so even if you’re inside all day, wearing sunscreen is essential to keep your skin healthy,” Darden notes.

Once you reach your destination, the esthetician suggests resetting your complexion with the Triple Acid Signature Peel.

“It’s the perfect chemical exfoliant to achieve a studio-level glow at home and something I always rely on to keep my skin glowing and my pores clear. Follow it with the Moisture Boost Plumping Skin, which leaves skin supple and bouncy while nourishing it with snow mushroom and glycerin.”

And even if you’ve landed in a cold climate, keeping SPF on hand is necessary.

“Everyone is always trying to reverse the signs of aging, however, you can prevent brown spots, discoloration, fine lines, and wrinkles by protecting your skin from sun exposure, which involves wearing sunscreen regardless of the weather,” Darden explains.

Finally, don’t let your jet lag hit you before completing your nighttime routine.

“Cleanse again and add the Retinol Reform, which is the go-to serum I recommend to all of my clients to keep their skin glowing in between facials. … Follow it with a hydrating serum and eye cream again. Then apply the Hydration Peptide Cream to deliver deep hydration and support your skin barrier,” she spills.

To amplify your skincare goals throughout your trip, the Déesse Pro LED Light Mask is key.

“It’s a quick 10-minute treatment with clinically-proven wavelengths of red, blue, and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular response to clear mild to moderate acne, target pigmentation, and visibly diminish fine lines and wrinkles. … It yields amazing results when used consistently,” Darden reveals.
