The veteran sports journalist and activist joined us Thursday on “TMZ Live” … and, she tells us even George Washington used sports to talk politics when he was running for office — plying guests with alcohol and playing competitive games to win their votes.
Hill says that’s just one interesting anecdote she digs into for the first episode of her new podcast “Spolitics” — and adds, famous athletes are still just citizens, so they’ve got every right to speak their minds about how they’re voting.
JH says there’s a long history of this, but when Black athletes finally broke the color barrier in major professional sports, people flipped the script — calling the rhetoric divisive.
Hill often speaks out about political issues, dating back to 2017, when she called then-President Donald Trump a “white supremacist.” She left ESPN shortly after, later blasting the workplace’s “conservative culture.”
Now, she’ll further explore the intersection between sports and politics on “Spolitics” … when debuts on October 17. She and Cari Champion also cohost the Vice TV series “Cari & Jemele (Won’t) Stick to Sports.”

Nearly a year after its initial announcement at IVS Kyoto, Ubisoft, known for games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, is venturing into Web3 gaming with the support of Oasys and double jump.tokyo. The tactical RPG invites players to assemble teams of mythical Champions and engage in PvP battles while exploring the dark fantasy world of Grimoria.
“At Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab, our goal is to be pathfinders in delivering innovative player experiences,” says Nicolas Pouard, VP of the Ubisoft Lab. “With Champions Tactics, we aim for Web3 technology to seamlessly fade into the background, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the fun and strategy of the game.”
Game Features and Mechanics
Central to “Champions Tactics” is a collection of 75,000 Champions—digital collectibles serving as primary characters in Grimoria. Each Champion comes with their own unique traits and abilities, letting players build and fine-tune their ultimate team. Then, by strategically selecting a trio of Champions, outplay your opponents and achieve glory in PvP showdowns.

2. Club crush nightmare
Love is in the air – or should we say Square – with Denise and Jack seeming to be getting back on track.
They have the full support of Kim and Howie. However, one person is not happy about the arrangement – Chelsea.
Back at No.20, Chelsea rails at her mum to keep her distance from Jack, lest he finds out she was behind the club crush and she gets into trouble with the police.
The repercussions across the Square are still being felt, with Lauren continuing to struggle with her recovery and Amy also feeling upset with her ‘slow’ recovery.
Later Penny makes the decision to leave Walford due to her constant arguments with the family, and arrives at No.27 as Jack and Denise try to buoy Amy up.
Things quickly heat up between the Brannings. In the middle of a bust up, Denise finally drops the bomb that Chelsea was behind the crush.
Later on, an emotional Chelsea prepares to hand herself in after being confronted by Amy, Lauren, Penny and Jack, but will she make it?

3. EastEnders spoilers next week: Nish’s secret plan
Some things on the Square never change, and Nish feeling bitter about Eve and Suki’s engagement is a certainty.
He concocts a plan as the fiancées arrange an engagement party, and summons Vinny and asks him to speak to Habiba to arrange for Tye to visit the Square.
When he arrives, Suki is touched when Vinny reveals that Nish has arranged for grandson Tye to visit. Nish even receives an invitation to the party, after Nugget and Avani’s request.
The happiness is short lived, as usual. Nish overhears a conversation between Suki and Eve about bringing Nish down, which leads him to make a mysterious phone call…

4. Eve hits the road
Last minute, Eve announces she’s heading to Yorkshire to be with her family. She asks Suki to accompany her, but she decides to stay behind to soak in time with her grandson.

Later, Eve softens after talking to Stacey, and calls to apologise to Suki but it’s clear that Nish is not happy at her intrusion in their family time…

5. EastEnders spoilers next week: Teddy’s making moves
Now he’s settled in the Square, Teddy sets his eyes on Sharon and tries to impress her through several plans.
He tries to impress her by helping Kathy with Suki and Eve’s engagement party plans at the eleventh hour.
Later on, he asks Sharon on a date, but she rejects his offer, despite her love for the Mitchell men.
After a few words, Kathy loosens her up and convinces her to give Teddy a chance…
Feeling more positive, she finds him for a conversation. Things don’t go to plan when Harry puts his foot in it.
Harry vows to make things right by setting up a date between the pair at The Arches. Teddy rails at Harry for being deceptive, but Sharon had already cottoned on to the plans and decides to attend anyway, much to Teddy’s surprise.

6. Avani takes the next step
Teddy is not the only Walford resident with an exciting love life, after Avani and Mason share a kiss at The Arches.
However, young love stings as Avani bolts after she thinks Mason wants more.
Later, Avani confides in Lily at McKlunky’s, who offers her worldly advice and convinces her not to sleep with him.
Little do they know, but they are being listened to by Tommy from another table…
Later, Avani visits No.1 as per Teddy’s invitation to play video games with Barney, but their games are interrupted when Priya arrives and demands answers.
She heard the whole situation from Tommy, who was all too happy to report back.
7. Jean and Harvey make up
Jean and Stacey are officially back on the Square after a couple of weeks sunning it up in Greece.
However, the holidays blues are hitting and Jean shares a frosty exchange with Harvey. Perhaps she needs a bit more time…
Later on, Jean seeks out Harvey to discuss her worries about Kat.
She heard differing events about Tommy’s behaviour from the mother and son, and shares her thoughts with Harvey.
Lending his ear as usual, the conversation soon diverts to their relationship.
The pair agree to try again!

Hyundai has decided to revive a non-fungible token (NFT) initiative originally launched in 2021, combining it with real-world offerings.
At that time, the company introduced the Santa Cruz pickup and released ten Santa Cruz NFTs, which were given away through a sweepstake on X (formerly Twitter).
On September 30, Hyundai announced that Santa Cruz NFT holders could enter for a chance to exchange their NFT for a real 2025 Santa Cruz vehicle.
Hyundai highlighted this initiative in a video on Instagram and X, stating, “We’re making NFTs relevant again.”
The post was then updated on October 8 to say, “The Offer has been claimed. Thank you for your interest in the promotion.”
This move may serve to revive the company’s NFT efforts while also promoting its vehicles. Yet, it’s not Hyundai’s first venture into Web3.
In 2022, the company released the “Shooting Star” NFT collection, which consisted of 10,000 Ethereum-based NFTs. These were later transformed into “MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid),” marking Hyundai’s entry into metaverse mobility experiences.

ITV released a statement today declaring the tragic news. “We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Cheryl Murray, our thoughts are with her family and friends.
“Her vibrant portrayal of Gail’s best friend and Elsie Tanner’s lodger Suzie Birchall lived on in the memories of Coronation Street fans long after Suzie left the cobbles for the bright lights of London.”
While Cheryl was on the show for six years, she expanded her career outside of the cobbles, too. Notably, she appeared as the eldest daughter of Billie Whitelaw and sister of Smiths fan Lucette Henderson in Morrissey’s Everyday Is Like Sunday video.
She also acted in Hi-de-Hi! as Joan Wainwright in the fourth series and as Gillian in the 1980s BBC comedy series Sorry!
Her talent was undeniable, but she had to step back from acting in 1998 after receiving a tough diagnosis jut a few years earlier.
Cheryl was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and had her first MS attack while working on the set of Coronation Street.
The condition is an autoimmune condition which affects the brain and spinal cord. The actress was born in Liverpool in 1952 and died on September 23 last year, with the family now sharing the sad news.

Coronation Street: Suzie Birchall’s life on the Cobbles
Suzie Birchall was Gail’s best friend and similarly lodged with Elsie Tanner in the late 1970s. She got a job at Sylvia’s Separates along with Gail, which grew their friendship together.
She eventually talked her way into sharing her lodgings at 11 Coronation Street, where the pair became quite the double act.
While Suzie was usually the sensible of the pair, in 1979 Gail married Brian Tilsley and moved out.
In a turn of events, Suzie moved to London, craving excitement – a huge change from Gail’s honeymoon married life.
She didn’t stay away for long, and returned to the cobbles just four years later and took a job up at the Rovers.
It transpired that she was on the run from her abusive husband, Terry Goodwin, who she had married two years before.
However, feeling jealous of Gail’s relationship, she tried to make a move on Brian. When Gail found out, she ended their friendship and Elsie told her to leave, which is the last we saw of Cheryl in Weatherfield.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 looks like a return to form for the series, introducing a more interesting campaign alongside its signature satisfying multiplayer. While the game feels like a return to the classic 360 era of CoD releases, the game’s single-player appears to require an internet connection to play.
Fans who beat the campaign will receive a special post-game reward, which is always nice. It’s also going to be one of the “smaller” downloads in the series’ modern era, even if that means it’s still over 100GB.
An online-only campaign
Gamers who have received early copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have found themselves unable to play the game’s single player. The back of the physical box informs players that an internet connection and the latest version of Call of Duty HQ is needed to play the game.
Alongside the constant internet connection, the game also takes up a minimum of 137GB of space on Xbox consoles. However, this size will likely increase as the game receives additional maps, weapons and (of course) the slew of cosmetics and emotes.
Publishers have been trying to force the online only requirement for a decade now, often failing due to fan backlash. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League actually patched in offline play after fans were angry at the game for locking the campaign behind an internet connection.
It would be great to see fans react angrily to this, but Call of Duty is a primarily multiplayer series and most players might just ignore the campaign. Obviously, a good majority will still play it due to how promising it looks, but we doubt any fan backlash will get to Activision Blizzard.
The first blemish of Black Ops 6?
Requiring online connections for a single-player campaign is never good no matter how the narrative is spun, so that’s an instant negative against Black Ops 6. Critical reception will have to wait since the game isn’t out yet, but previews were pretty positive until this happened. But with online being the focus, we doubt this will be a major detraction to many.

Since the relocation, she shared with People Magazine that Hope is “thriving” and “improving,” reflecting the positive changes in their new environment. “We’re in a place where Hope is thriving,” the morning talk show host told the outlet. “She’s improving, we’re watching her, and I think as time goes on, we’ll have a better handle on it, but we’re already seeing great differences.”

Haley, Hoda Kotb’s eldest daughter, was born on Valentine’s Day in 2017, and her younger sister, Hope, arrived in 2019, with Kotb present at her birth.
