“I was always insecure about my body. As a female, throughout my youth [I was] touched inappropriately so many times [and] I was in abusive situations where you hate being a woman,” Twain shared with Us Weekly.

She explained that this deep-seated discomfort led her to imagine a life where she could become a “big, strong man that nobody was going to f-ck around with.”

Her candid confession shed light on how the trauma impacted her as a young girl. “My mother goes, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ and I said, ‘A bodybuilder,’” Twain recalled. “No one was going to touch my arm or my a– or anything unless I was OK with it. I was hiding all through my teens.”

The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer admitted that she “hated having boobs” and “hated having hips,” struggling with the changes in her body as she grew up. She attributed some of this insecurity to the beauty standards of her youth, where being “very, very thin” was associated with “elegance and feminine beauty.”

This isn’t the first time Twain has spoken about the abuse she endured.

In a 2022 interview with the Sunday Times, the 59-year-old revealed more about the physical and sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her late stepfather, Jerry Twain.

“I hid myself and I would flatten my boobs,” she said. “I would wear bras that were too small for me, and I’d wear two, play it down until there was nothing girl about me. Make it easier to go unnoticed.”

Twain described a tumultuous household where being a girl felt dangerous.

She often fought back against Jerry when he was abusive toward her and her mother, Sharon Morrison. Tragically, both Jerry and Sharon died in a car crash in November 1987.

It wasn’t until her mid-20s that Twain began to appreciate her body and build the confidence she exudes today. “By the time I had my record contracts I was the kind of woman that when I walked in the room, it’s like, don’t even get any closer. It was clear in my body language,” she explained.

Twain hopes that her story can inspire young girls to develop their own sense of strength and self-assurance. “I think maybe what young girls can learn too is to exude that confidence,” she said, turning her painful past into a powerful message of resilience.

“I wish I’d come to this so much earlier, but I think referencing yourself to others is dangerous,” she continued. “For me, walking on the beach in a bathing suit is like, ‘What was I waiting for?’ Of course I don’t have the body I imagined because my image of the perfect body is a supermodel with no cellulite, perfect proportions and a beautiful stride. This is just not me. You can wish a lot of time away ignoring what you actually look like. Just get real with yourself.”

Shania Twain also talked about how her country-pop blend, paired with bold, pro-woman lyrics, didn’t quite fit the traditional mold of country music at the time.

“It was its own thing,” the 59-year-old music icon told the outlet. She admitted that the industry had little confidence in her ability to connect with audiences. “What I was saying, what I was wearing, how I was performing,  all of it.”

But Twain never considered abandoning her vision. “I only ever cared about being as original as possible and being myself,” Twain explained. “There is no other me. That’s my biggest power.”

Twain went on to sell over 100 million records worldwide, earning her place as the best-selling female country artist of all time. Her groundbreaking work created a blueprint for future crossover stars like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Kelsea Ballerini, all of whom have credited Twain as a significant influence.

‘Queen of the Ring’ Review | Emily Bett Rickards Stuns in Ash Avildsen’s Powerful Biopic on Wrestling Trailblazer Mildred Burke

Making a biopic is never easy. However, making a biopic about a name many people might not know is even more difficult. If you are a wrestling fan, you’d know names such as Dan McLeod, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Ric Flair and more. These are some of the names who took professional wrestling to greater heights and made it a global sensation. However, not many people know about women’s wrestling, its rise to success, and the struggles female wrestlers faced in a male-dominated sport. In today’s time, women’s wrestling has evolved so much and female wrestlers are getting the recognition that they wholeheartedly deserve. But there was a time when a section of society didn’t see women getting into the ring and being a part of the sport. However, one woman refused to back down, doing everything to bring women at the forefront, and that name was Mildred Burke. If you haven’t heard of her before, Ash Avildsen’s movie Queen of the Ring tells the inspiring story of how Burke stopped at nothing to prove that women not only belong in the wrestling ring but are also capable of headlining main events. But is the movie worth watching? The answer to that question is HELL YEAH!!!

Queen of the Ring tells the story of Mildred Burke (played by Emily Bett Rickards), a determined single mother who works at her mother’s diner but dreams of achieving something greater. From the initial scenes, viewers get to know that she loves wrestling and wants to know about the sport. While watching a wrestling match between two male wrestlers, she realizes that she wants to be a wrestler and wrestle professionally, but doesn’t know how to move ahead with it. One night, she meets wrestling promoter Billy Wolfe (played by Josh Lucas) and tries telling about her desire to be a wrestler. Initially, he doesn’t listen to her, but she doesn’t back down and Wolfe gives her a chance to have a practice match with a man. She defeats him in the practice, prompting Wolfe to train her. In no time, Burke became his most-valued asset and took her everywhere. But Burke’s ambitions were big as she wanted to be a big name in the sport of wrestling, and that’s when the story takes a dramatic turn, as Burke’s rise to fame is met with relentless challenges—both inside the ring and beyond—forcing her to fight not just for victories, but for respect, recognition, and her rightful place in a male-dominated sport.

A Story of Determination, Passion, and Perseverance

One of the film’s greatest strengths lies in its storytelling. Avildsen crafts a narrative that seamlessly balances Mildred Burke’s personal life with her professional journey, shedding light on the sacrifices she made to break barriers in the wrestling world. The screenplay delves into her tumultuous relationship with promoter Billy Wolfe, whose controlling grip on women’s wrestling presented one of Burke’s biggest obstacles. The film also explores her rivalries with contemporaries like Mae Young (Francesca Eastwood) and June Byers (Kamille), adding layers of complexity to the narrative. Beyond the wrestling ring, Queen of the Ring highlights the emotional weight of Burke’s battles, making her triumphs even more impactful. The film does not shy away from depicting the struggles of women in a sport where they were often treated as mere side attractions rather than legitimate athletes. By focusing on Burke’s relentless pursuit of equality, the film becomes more than just a sports drama—it is a testament to the power of perseverance and the fight for recognition.

Apart from good storytelling, the visuals make this film such an enthralling watch. This film is a stunning tribute to its era. The cinematography by Andrew Strahorn captures the atmosphere of 1930s-50s America in the most amazing way possible, from smoky wrestling halls to the bright lights of championship bouts. The film’s color palette and set design enhance the authenticity of the period, taking audiences back to a time when women’s wrestling was a fiercely contested battleground. Moreover, the camera work during the wrestling sequences is beyond amazing, using close-ups and wide shots to highlight the intensity and magnitude of the matches.

Emily Bett Rickards shines as Burke, Francesca Eastwood triumphs

However, it is the stellar performances of the cast that truly make Queen of the Ring a knockout, bringing depth, authenticity, and emotional weight to this inspiring story. Emily Bett Rickards delivers a thumping performance as Mildred Burke, embodying the grit, resilience, and indomitable spirit of the wrestling pioneer. She brings an emotional depth to Burke’s character, capturing both her vulnerability and fierce determination. From the hardships of her personal life to the brutal battle inside the ring, Rickards ensures that the wrestler’s struggles and triumphs resonate deeply with the audience. Burke was the first female athlete in the history to earn $1 million at a time when women fought hard to break the shackles, giving women the motivation to move ahead. She worked hard for it and so did Rickards to bring the wrestler’s unique personality to the screen. Her physical commitment to the role is commendable and she looked like someone who could hold a wrestling championship over her waist.

While Rickards shines as Burke, the supporting cast elevates the film even further. Francesca Eastwood delivers a strong performance as Mae Young, portraying her with both charisma and intensity. Eastwood is one of the standout performers in the film and makes everyone realize how she can portray complex characters effortlessly. She may not have many in-ring sequences, but she captures Young’s charismatic personality with remarkable precision. Every gesture, expression, and line delivery reflects the confidence and charm that made Young stand out. Even in moments outside the ring, she commands attention, making her presence felt in every scene. Her portrayal adds depth to the character, ensuring that Young’s legacy shines through. Meanwhile, Kamille as June Byers is extraordinary. She has a commanding presence throughout the film and perfectly captures the competitive rivalry between her and Burke. Josh Lucas is outstanding as Billy Wolfe, embodying the manipulative and controlling promoter with chilling authenticity. His portrayal adds depth to Burke’s struggle, making her victories feel even more hard-earned. On the other hand, Deborah Ann Woll steals the show with an emotionally charged-up performance. Her story arc is really moving and gives the film more emotional depth.

        What is Xsolla Offerwall?

A standout feature of the Xsolla Offerwall is its high revenue-sharing model, which grants developers and publishers up to 90% of the revenue—significantly higher than the industry norm of 30–60%. This ensures developers maximise their earnings whilst maintaining flexibility in how they monetise their games.

The Offerwall brings several benefits for developers and players:

Increased Player Engagement: Players complete various activities such as Cost Per Install (CPI), Cost Per Engagement (CPE), Cost Per Acquisition (CPA), and Cost Per Click (CPC), encouraging more in-game participation.Expanded Monetization Options: Developers can reach untapped markets and new user bases through quests and advertiser-backed rewards.Enhanced Security Measures: SMS-based verification ensures transactions are secure, preventing fraudulent activities and improving traffic quality.Improved Player Retention: The introduction of redeemable Xsolla Points offers additional incentives beyond standard in-game currency, keeping players engaged for longer.

“With Xsolla Offerwall, we’re enabling game developers to unlock new revenue streams while delivering value to players through rewarding and engaging experiences,” said Chris Hewish, Chief Strategy Officer at Xsolla. “This solution is a game-changer for developers looking to expand their monetization efforts and engage players in multiple ways.”

Currently available in the United States, Xsolla plans to expand the Offerwall globally, further increasing monetisation opportunities for developers and broadening engagement strategies worldwide.

Native USDC Arrives On Linea With Industry’s First Bridged-to-Native Upgrade

Native USDC Arrives On Linea With Industry’s First Bridged-to-Native Upgrade

        In Brief

Linea will be the first blockchain to have Circle’s Bridged USDC Standard upgraded to native USDC and gain support for CCTP V2 following its mainnet launch.

Native USDC Arrives On Linea With Industry's First Bridged-to-Native Upgrade

Global fintech company and stablecoin issuer Circle has announced the launch of native USDC on the zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain Linea.

Linea, a zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain developed by ConsenSys, is designed to scale Ethereum while maintaining its security and decentralization. Since its launch in July 2023, Linea has quickly gained traction, securing over $183 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) across more than 400 applications and processing 250 million transactions, making it the largest zkEVM blockchain by total value secured.

With this new launch, Linea will become the first blockchain to transition seamlessly from bridged USDC to native USDC without requiring any action from developers or users. Furthermore, Linea will be the first blockchain to support CCTP V2, following its upcoming mainnet launch on Avalanche, Base, and Ethereum. CCTP V2 introduces a burn-and-mint process, allowing for secure, capital-efficient USDC transfers across blockchains, with faster-than-finality settlement and improved smart contract composability for post-transfer operations, all without the need to lock liquidity.

Linea, as one of the early adopters of the Bridged USDC Standard, showcased the advantages of this approach by minimizing liquidity fragmentation. It did so by creating a single unified version of bridged USDC for the ecosystem to utilize. This standard played a key role in jumpstarting activity within the Linea ecosystem, with more than $19 million in bridged USDC, making up over 71% of its stablecoin circulation.

The transition to native USDC will provide significant benefits to Linea’s developers, applications, and users. This upgrade ensures a seamless experience by eliminating the need for ecosystem education or liquidity migration incentives. After the upgrade, bridged USDC (USDC.e) on Linea will automatically be converted to native USDC (USDC), with no requirement for code changes or asset swaps by applications or token holders.

Native USDC, along with CCTP V2, offers several important features, including regulatory compliance, being fully reserved, and redeemable on a 1:1 basis for US dollars. It also provides access to institutional on/off-ramps via Circle Mint for eligible businesses. The integration of native USDC into both new and existing apps will be straightforward, enabling fast, secure, and efficient cross-chain transactions.

How The Upgrade Will Be Implemented

The upgrade process, expected to take approximately 1-2 weeks. First, on March 16, Linea will pause the bridging activity for bridged USDC (USDC.e) on its main bridge between Ethereum and Linea, while ensuring any pending transactions are settled. Other bridging routes will not be affected by this pause.

Next, Linea will transfer the ownership of the bridged USDC contract to Circle, which will pave the way for the upgrade to native USDC. Following this, Circle will launch CCTP V2 on Linea, establishing connections to Avalanche, Base, and Ethereum for efficient and seamless cross-chain transfers of USDC.

Throughout this upgrade period, bridged USDC (USDC.e) on Linea will remain fully functional for trading, spending, and swapping. Users will be able to swap USDC.e for any supported asset and bridge to other blockchains via third-party bridging providers.
