Valve updated Proton Experimental, the testing area for the latest fixes to their Windows compatibility layer to run more games on Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck.

Here’s all the changes for the May 16th update (changelog):



Fixed The First Berserker: Khazan showing a warning about outdated OS version.
Fixed The Finals showing EOS EAC updater window twice on start.
Improved force feedback support in Assetto Corsa EVO.
Improved rendering of Alpha Protocol’s launcher.
Fixed boss intro videos playback in River City Girls.
Fixed the new Final Fantasy XIV launcher getting stuck on “loading” screen.
Fixed Proton 10 regressions:

The Sims 2 Legacy Collection is playable again.
RAGE no longer has focus issues when Alt-Tabbing on KDE Wayland.
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is playable again.
Dishonored 2 window can be dragged on Gnome again.
Forza Horizon 4 and 5 no longer require focus change to not have black screen.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition (2009) no longer has problems minimizing after Alt-Tabbing.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition no longer has issues with keyboard registration after refocusing the game.

How to get it?

It will show up as an update in your Steam Downloads, if you have it installed. If not, search for Proton Experimental in your Steam Library to install them. It will also download automatically if you go to run a game that Valve have set to use it.
