REVIEW | A Queer Love Story Redefined: ‘The Wedding Banquet’ Shines with Emotional Truth

In the summer of 2024, my mother sent me a reel on Instagram in which a young man in his mid-twenties was playing a beautiful rendition of “Tum Hi Dekho Na” from the movie “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna” on his sitar. The tune was so melodious that I saw that 90-second reel for around 20-25 minutes. This made me curious, and I searched more about this talented musician. While searching for this tune on the internet, I learned that the artist’s name was Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, a sitar player and the last disciple of the legendary Pt. Ravi Shankar.

This is how I got to know about Rishab’s music and his journey into this realm. His music made a quiet impact on me, and as soon as he announced his India tour, I knew I had to see him live. Rishab performed to a sold-out crowd in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Arena, and for almost 2 hours, he mesmerized everyone with his charm, talent, and soulful music.

From the first note of Tilak Shyam, it was evident that this was not going to be an ordinary sitar recital. With gentle strokes and a steady rhythm, Rishab built a meditative atmosphere. He let the raga unravel gradually, with grace and depth. The meends were elegant, the jod section stretched with care, and his taans flowed like poetry. It was the perfect way to open the evening, rooted in tradition, calm yet commanding. However, before he began his performance, he started the night with a little exercise where he told a crowd of 14,000 to inhale and exhale by putting one hand on their heart, and the other on the belly. This was to relax everyone so that they could enjoy the music wholeheartedly. But it seemed he did that to calm himself as well before the performances began, and the atmosphere started getting a bit more energetic.

After the melodious introduction to Tilak Shyam, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma looked more relaxed and started performing on his popular tracks. First came Shiv Kailashon Ke Vaasi, a powerful composition inspired by Lord Shiva’s cosmic abode. The artist transitioned from the calm of Tilak Shyam to the intensity of devotion. The slow-burning tune was spiritually rich, and as the other instruments joined in, the performance lifted into another realm. It wasn’t just technical brilliance, it was the way he communicated devotion through every pluck and pause. People didn’t just hear the music, they felt it. It was one of the performances that brought a tear to many eyes, not because of how intense it was, but because of how pure it was.

Meanwhile, Roslyn, a delicate original composition, was quiet and inward-looking. That piece had restraint, melancholy, and vulnerability. The silence between the notes spoke as loudly as the notes themselves.

And then came the unexpected: a sitar rendition of Kal Ho Na Ho. He began the performance by telling the audience to snap their fingers in a rhythm for a while, and no one knew what was going to come. However, he took everyone by storm as soon as he hit the first note. There’s always a risk when you take something iconic and emotional as this Sonu Nigam classic, and interpret it on a classical instrument. But Rishab didn’t just pull it off, he elevated it. The melody flowed beautifully on the sitar, and by the time he reached the chorus, people were lost in people were lost in a wave of memory and meaning. It was deeply nostalgic and a clear nod to how versatile Indian classical instruments can be.

He also gave a tribute to his teacher, Pt. Ravi Shankar, by playing one of the most extraordinary songs, Saare Jahaan Se Accha, on the sitar. In that moment, Rishab became a bridge between the old and the new, the purist and the popular.

    Sitar for Mental Health

The mood suddenly shifted when he played another of his popular tracks, Chanakya, which brought in a completely different energy. It was sharp, full of strategy, just like the man it’s named after. This is where Rishab didn’t hold back, and his storytelling through the sitar shone. Each taan felt like a well-thought-out argument in a debate. The audience was hooked, and applause erupted midway—not something you usually hear during Indian classical concerts. But that’s the Sharma effect. He makes classical music feel immediate and urgent. Just when we thought the emotional waves had crested, Rishab brought out the final act of the night—Taandav. And it wasn’t just a finale, it was a storm. It was pure adrenaline, and the hall vibrated with the energy.

As the show ended,  we all felt we had seen something special. But, as a journalist, I needed to know how others felt. So, I talked to people and they shared how they felt. For Neeti, a resident of Noida, this show was “beyond anything she expected.” Moreover, she felt that the tunes he played were “incredibly calming and therapeutic, and felt like a gentle reset” for her “mind and soul.” Meanwhile, for Samyak, it was an “emotional rollercoaster” performance that brought tears to his eyes. In reality, it was not just a performance, but a therapy session.

What makes Rishab Rikhiram Sharma so impactful is not just his command over the sitar—it’s his ability to make classical music feel alive, relevant, and emotionally direct. For anyone who doubts whether classical music can still move today’s audiences, this concert was a clear, hard-hitting answer. Rishab is not the future of Indian classical music. He is its present, burning bright with passion, power, and precision.

Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is currently touring India.

Strictly stars Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff hit with fresh blow following ‘£1million debt’ problems

Strictly stars Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff hit with fresh blow following ‘£1million debt’ problems

Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff have been dealt another setback as their £1.75 million house sale has reportedly fallen through, just months after confirming their separation and ongoing financial troubles.

The former couple met during the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing while Ben was still married.

Despite their breakup, they are still living together in the five-bedroom Northamptonshire home with their nine-year-old daughter, Mila.

The home was originally purchased in 2016 for £950,000. It was put on the market last September as the pair began to grapple publicly with growing debt and the breakdown of their relationship.

Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff struggle to sell house

In a fresh blow, the property is now back on the market after a potential sale collapsed. Oscar James Estate Agency has resumed viewings.

“There is only so much one couple can take,” a close friend told The Sun. “The financial problems Kristina and Ben were facing pushed them to the brink. It has been incredibly stressful for them. This was what properly broke them and ended the relationship.”

Their financial woes are linked to a series of business ventures they launched together – primarily their wellness and fitness company, Soo Yoga Group, which Kristina once said they had “invested everything we’ve ever had” into.

But court documents and company filings have revealed the full extent of the pair’s money problems.

These documents show that the couple carries a whopping £1 million debt. The highest debt comes from Soo Yoga Group, for the amount of £488,470.

ED! has contacted reps for comment.

      ‘I’m so overdrawn’

Speaking emotionally in court during Kristina’s driving offence hearing – where she was spared a ban due to “exceptional hardship” – Ben opened up about the toll of their situation.

“I get up every day and I fight not to lose everything – to lose my cars and my house and my relationship. I’m so overdrawn,” he said.

While their personal and financial situation has drawn public attention, so has their relationship.

The couple’s romance began under scrutiny after Ben split from wife Abby, with whom he shares 15-year-old twin daughters.

Following the news of the breakup and financial trouble, Abby issued a pointed statement: “What goes around comes around.”

Abby is now in a relationship with businessman David Warner. She has maintained a relatively low profile despite the media spotlight on her ex-husband’s personal struggles.

A friend close to the couple reflected on the pressure they faced from the start.

“Their union hasn’t always been a bed of roses because of how they got together. With the amount of public jibes sent in their direction, their friends have commented that they think it’s amazing their relationship lasted for as long as it did.”

Immutable Powers Ubisoft’s New “Might & Magic: Fates” on iOS & Android | NFT News Today

Immutable Powers Ubisoft’s New “Might & Magic: Fates” on iOS & Android | NFT News Today

Ubisoft is revisiting its classic Might & Magic franchise—this time with a blockchain twist. The famed publisher behind Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry has teamed up with Immutable, a leading Web3 gaming platform, to introduce Might & Magic: Fates, an original strategy card game.

The new title, slated for release on iOS and Android, aims to honor the franchise’s 40-year legacy while integrating optional blockchain-based digital ownership and trading elements.

      Modern Card Strategy Meets Blockchain

Fates blend the classic strategic essence of Might & Magic with fresh mechanics designed for mobile play. Players can assemble and customize decks from hundreds of collectible cards, each featuring iconic creatures, heroes, and spells. The game will also include faction-based playstyles, allowing players to build decks around distinct themes and mechanics. Each faction offers unique synergies to encourage diverse tactical approaches.

Ubisoft and Immutable promise a skill-based experience, emphasizing that a player’s tactical prowess—not sheer luck or spending power—will determine victory.

Leveraging Immutable’s technology, Fates will introduce new forms of digital ownership, such as cards minted as NFTs that can be traded outside the game’s ecosystem. However, Ubisoft has stated that this feature is optional and does not provide gameplay advantages, aiming to preserve balance and accessibility.

Immutable has experience backing popular blockchain titles like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, which feature player-owned assets. Gods Unchained has notably benefited from Immutable’s gas-free layer-2 solution, with plans to transition to Immutable zkEVM for additional functionality.

According to Immutable, the AAA partnership with Ubisoft was first revealed two years ago and has now led to this major announcement. Backed by millions in investment and developed by a team of Ubisoft veterans, Fates is designed to be “free-to-play” and easily accessible through mobile devices worldwide.

Champions Tactics: Reforged Sees Season 3 Update

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has also been updating its Web3-inspired tactical strategy game, Champions Tactics: Reforged. Recently entering Season 3, the game added new content and competitive challenges, setting the stage for a broader audience as it prepares for its launch on Steam.

However, Champions Tactics faced setbacks during an opening weekend bug that led to just two players winning every matchmade game. The issue branded the game “unplayable,” although Ubisoft has since addressed the glitch and continued rolling out seasonal content. Season 3 offers further narrative developments in the fantasy world of Grimoria while refining PvP battles to focus on strategy rather than luck.

      A Broader Push into Web3

Ubisoft’s latest move into blockchain gaming shows they’re still exploring new frontiers—but it’s not their first time testing these waters, and past efforts haven’t exactly won everyone over.

Earlier ventures, like the Quartz platform and NFT integration in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, drew criticism from players. Many felt those features didn’t add much to the actual gameplay and raised concerns about their environmental impact.

This time, though, Ubisoft appears to be taking a different approach. By teaming up with Immutable and leaning on proven blockchain tech, they’re aiming to offer something more thoughtful—something that blends innovation with accessibility.

If it all comes together, Fates could become a model for how game studios can explore Web3 without losing sight of what makes games great in the first place.

Gate.io Introduces CandyDrop To Simplify Crypto Acquisition And Enhance User Engagement With Quality Projects

Gate.io Introduces CandyDrop To Simplify Crypto Acquisition And Enhance User Engagement With Quality Projects

      In Brief

Gate.io has introduced CandyDrop, designed to simplify the process of acquiring cryptocurrencies while fostering greater interaction between users and high-quality projects.

Gate.io Introduces CandyDrop To Simplify Crypto Acquisition And Enhance User Engagement With Quality Projects

Cryptocurrency exchange Gate.io introduced its new airdrop platform, CandyDrop, designed to simplify the process of acquiring cryptocurrencies while fostering greater interaction between users and high-quality projects. CandyDrop utilizes a task-based incentive system, aiming to reduce entry barriers and enhance user engagement with promising projects.

CandyDrop allows users to earn candy points by completing various tasks such as achieving specific trading volumes, depositing particular tokens, or referring new users. These points can then be redeemed for airdrops of project tokens. Gate.io ensures the quality of the projects featured on the platform by adhering to strict selection criteria, focusing on mature or high-potential tokens to guarantee that users receive valuable and reliable rewards.

The process of participating in CandyDrop is straightforward. On the web platform, users can easily access the feature by clicking “Startup” in the navigation bar and expanding the “CandyDrop” page. On the mobile application, users can access the feature by selecting their profile picture in the top left corner, scrolling to the “Earn” section, and opening “CandyDrop.” Once users complete the required tasks, they are awarded candy points, and the more points they accumulate, the more tokens they will receive after the event concludes. At the end of the activity, the platform distributes the corresponding tokens to users’ wallets. Users have the option to either trade the tokens for immediate gains or hold them for potential future value growth.

Understanding CandyDrop: Empowering Users To Participate With Confidence

CandyDrop activities are designed to have minimal entry barriers, allowing all verified Gate.io users to participate. In addition to tasks such as depositing, trading, and referring new users, the platform plans to introduce more innovative tasks in the future.

The distribution of candy points on CandyDrop is closely linked to user engagement. The more tasks a user completes, the more candy points they accumulate, increasing their chances of reaching the candy threshold necessary to earn rewards in each event. It’s important to note that each CandyDrop event operates with its own candy system, meaning that candy points from one event do not carry over to the next.

Each CandyDrop event comes with its own specific set of rules and task requirements, ensuring fair and orderly execution. Users are encouraged to thoroughly read the terms outlined on the activity page before participating. This helps them understand the specifics of each event and plan their participation strategies accordingly, maximizing their potential rewards.

As the cryptocurrency market evolves, the CandyDrop platform, with its innovative and user-centric features, is expected to attract more participants and bring fresh energy to the industry. Going forward, CandyDrop will continue to refine its platform, introduce new task types and incentive models, and offer users more diverse ways to increase their assets, ultimately contributing to the growth and success of the crypto ecosystem.

Web3 gaming platform Immutable and French video game powerhouse Ubisoft have officially announced Might & Magic Fates, a new TCG title set to launch later this year.

With development led by Ubisoft teams known for producing global hits such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, and backed by Immutable’s blockchain infrastructure, Fates represents a significant convergence of traditional and blockchain gaming.

The project is described as the biggest partnership in Immutable’s history and is expected to tap into Ubisoft Connect’s user base of over 138 million players.

What is Might & Magic Fates?

Might & Magic Fates is a trading card game and is a new instalment in the Might & Magic franchise, a series that dates back to the 1980s and includes both role-playing games and strategy spin-offs.

Over the past four decades, the franchise has cultivated a loyal global fanbase and is widely regarded as one of the longest-running IPs in gaming history. The new title draws from the Might & Magic franchise’s factions, creatures, and characters, combining them into a competitive, deck-building experience.

Might & Magic Fates is primarily free-to-play with optional web3 features available for players who want it. According to the official site, players will be able to trade cards via the Immutable blockchain, though this has no impact on gameplay or competitive balance. The core experience will remain fully accessible without interacting with any blockchain elements.

He also cited “millions in funding” and the reach of Ubisoft Connect as key ingredients for the game’s anticipated success. In Ferguson’s own words, Immutable is “not stopping until Immutable games are played by 1B+ people worldwide.”

Ubisoft and Immutable have confirmed that Might & Magic Fates is scheduled to launch later this year, with further details to be shared in the coming months. These will include more information about the game’s mechanics, its approach to lore, and the broader vision behind the project.

CME Group to Debut XRP Futures Following Solana Launch – Decrypt

        In brief

CME Group on Thursday said it would debut XRP futures on its derivatives marketplace.
The new product will allow clients to trade contracts of 2,500 XRP and 50,000 XRP.
XRP is the fourth biggest cryptocurrency by market cap.

CME Group on Thursday said it would introduce XRP futures on its derivatives marketplace for clients on May 19, the company announced Thursday.

The new product will allow clients to trade both a micro-sized contract of 2,500 XRP, and a larger-sized contract of 50,000 XRP.

“As innovation in the digital asset landscape continues to evolve, market participants continue to look to regulated derivatives products to manage risks across a wider range of tokens,” Giovanni Vicioso, CME Group’s global head of cryptocurrency products, said in a statement. “Interest in XRP and its underlying ledger (XRPL) has steadily increased as institutional and retail adoption for the network grows, and we are pleased to launch these new futures contracts… to support clients’ investment and hedging strategies.”

XRP is the fourth biggest cryptocurrency with a $126.6 billion market capitalization. It was recently trading for $2.19 per coin after a 4% 24-hour dip, according to CoinGecko. It is up more than 9% over the past 14 days, part of a wider market upswing.

The coin was created by the founders of fintech company Ripple Labs, and was designed with the intent of moving money across borders in a faster, more efficient way.

“XRP was purpose-built for real financial use cases and today facilitates global value transfers through the fast, low-cost XRP Ledger,” Sal Gilbertie, CEO of fund issuer Teucrium, said in a statement. “The listing of regulated XRP futures by CME Group marks another milestone in the ecosystem’s evolution, and we intend to be active participants in supporting that growth.”

CME Group is the world’s biggest derivative marketplace. Futures are a type of contract allowing an investor to buy or sell the underlying asset at a given price at a predetermined expiration date.

The marketplace offers Bitcoin and Ethereum futures.

Decrypt reached out to CME Group for additional comment.

UPDATE (April 24, 2025, 10:32 a.m. ET): Adds comments and XRP price information.

What Happens When a $100M+ NFT Project Goes Dark — And Leaves Holders Hanging

In the golden age of NFT mania, few projects shone brighter than CloneX, a sleek, futuristic collaboration between RTFKT Studios (later acquired by Nike) and the legendary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. It was stylish, innovative, and loaded with promise — avatars built for the metaverse, with traits designed for modularity, fashion drops, and future integrations. CloneX wasn’t just an NFT project; it was a vision of digital identity at scale.

But today? That vision feels like a ghost in the machine.

Go to any CloneX token on OpenSea or other marketplaces and you’re greeted not with high-fidelity 3D avatars, but with this message:

“The content has been restricted. Using Cloudflare’s basic service in this manner is a violation of the Terms of Service.”

What was once the poster child for digital fashion is now… a broken link.

Let’s break down what happened, why it matters, and what it signals for the NFT space.

💸 From Hype to High Stakes: The CloneX Money Trail

CloneX was a monumental success by the numbers:

        $81.3 million in primary sales.

$37.8 million in royalties from secondary markets.

Countless community initiatives, collaborations, and IRL events.

It wasn’t just a cash grab. At least, it didn’t seem like one.

CloneX came with high expectations. With Nike in the mix and Murakami lending his visual genius, the community believed in a long-term vision — one that included augmented reality sneakers, avatar wearables, and a full-blown RTFKT ecosystem. People weren’t just buying avatars — they were buying into a brand.

The team even launched NFT-based sneaker drops, physical redemption events, and teased integrations into the metaverse. For a time, RTFKT felt like it was shaping the very DNA of digital fashion.

        📉 The Sudden Silence

        And then… it got quiet.

RTFKT, after an energetic run of product drops, Twitter announcements, and NFT airdrops, started to go radio silent. Promised roadmaps turned into vague tweets. Updates became sporadic. Murakami distanced himself. And slowly, the shine wore off.

This week, the situation reached a tipping point.

The servers hosting the CloneX metadata are offline.

That means the images and files that power the avatars are no longer accessible. The NFTs still exist — they’re on-chain. But what made them valuable, the experience and visual assets, are gone. All that remains on marketplaces is a grim reminder:

        “The content has been restricted…”

        🧠 Why This Matters

This is more than just one project fading out — it’s a wake-up call for the entire NFT space.

Centralized Hosting is a Risk.CloneX metadata was hosted using Cloudflare’s basic services, which are not meant to serve as permanent storage for digital assets. When RTFKT failed to pay for ongoing hosting, everything vanished.

NFTs Are Only As Valuable As Their Infrastructure.Without IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), Arweave, or on-chain storage, NFT projects are vulnerable. A token on Ethereum is forever — but the media it points to might not be.

Even Big Names Can Fumble. This wasn’t some rugpull from a shadowy dev. This was Nike. This was Murakami. And yet, poor planning and communication eroded community trust.

👣 Where Do We Go From Here?

The CloneX situation is disappointing, but not hopeless.

Decentralization advocates are using this moment to push for better standards in NFT storage.

Some community developers are trying to mirror assets to IPFS or archive old metadata.

Holders are demanding accountability — and possibly legal recourse, depending on how funds and promises were managed.

Nike and RTFKT have yet to release a formal statement. But the ball is in their court. If there’s one thing brands should learn from this: Web3 is about transparency, not just tech.

🚀 Lessons for the Future of NFTs

Don’t trust, verify. Know where your NFT’s metadata lives.

Community is your lifeline. Go dark too long, and the project dies with the silence.

If you make $100M+, you owe your holders more than a broken link.

CloneX had all the ingredients of a blue-chip project. But ambition without execution is just vaporware.

And in Web3, vapor doesn’t hold value.

        TL;DR:

CloneX, once a high-profile NFT project from RTFKT and Nike, made over $119M but has now gone silent, leaving holders with broken image links due to lapsed server payments. This highlights critical issues with centralized metadata hosting and underscores the importance of transparency, accountability, and decentralized infrastructure in the NFT space.
