The Evolution of Humanity: From Homo Sapiens to Technological Society

The Evolution of Humanity: From Homo Sapiens to Technological Society

Around 150,000 years ago, the first modern humans, known as Homo sapiens, emerged and began an extraordinary journey of development and transformation. As language skills evolved, communication and expression became easier, enabling early humans to form communities and take the first steps toward settled life.

Driven by survival instincts, humanity began to discover new tools to hunt and protect itself. Fire was used not only for warmth but eventually for cooking food, and weapons like spears and arrows became essential hunting tools.

The agricultural revolution, which began with semi-nomadic lifestyles, eventually led to permanent settlements. This, in turn, triggered urbanization, mechanization, and ultimately the industrial revolution.

As humans learned to harness natural resources and solve challenges through invention, we steadily progressed toward becoming modern technological beings—reaching a point that may mark the beginning of the end.

The Limit of Humanity – The Rise of the “Superhuman”

“Man is something that shall be overcome. Man is a rope, tied between beast and superman—a rope over an abyss.” – Nietzsche

The primitive brain, once focused solely on survival, has now led us to explore deeply complex topics. We, once creatures of nature, now create supernatural tools to modify and extend our own species.

Thanks to our curiosity and intellectual abilities, humans have always developed alternatives to improve life. From traditional medicine to modern science and herbal therapies, we now turn to technology to increase lifespan and quality of life.

Everyday examples of this are visible—prosthetic limbs for amputees, artificial heart implants, and other bio-augmentations are no longer science fiction.

Where Do Artificial Enhancements Stand Today?

With the rise of artificial intelligence, we now find ourselves asking: Where does AI fit into this transformation? Arguably, right at the center.

So far, we’ve seen countless initiatives aimed at expanding human capacity, both biologically and genetically. When combined with modern technology, this gives rise to the semi-utopian concept of transhumanism—the vision of the post-human, or superhuman.

Semi-utopian, because we are already taking steps toward it. But becoming a superhuman isn’t just about replacing lost limbs with mechanical ones. At the heart of this vision is the age-old dream of eternal life.

What Does Transhumanism Promise?

Scientists are working on solutions to:

Extend lifespans

Treat genetic diseases

Eliminate physical and mental disabilities

But there’s more: concepts like memory expansion, accelerated learning, and enhanced cognitive functions are also on the table.

The rapid advancement of AI technologies suggests a future where artificial intelligence could be indistinguishable from human intelligence.

The Era of Technological Singularity

This phase, often referred to as technological singularity, envisions a world where AI-powered humans and human-like AIs coexist. Though our understanding of the human brain remains incomplete, the possibilities continue to excite researchers.

Could our consciousness be transferred to an artificial body when our biological form begins to fail? If it is transferred, would we still be “us”? Would we have emotions, or just rely on stored memory?

These are the questions challenging our understanding of identity, consciousness, and humanity.

What Kind of Future Awaits in a Human-Like Robot World?

As robotic limbs become more lifelike, and AI systems start to mirror the human brain, we’re left wondering—what comes next?

While we strive to surpass our current biological limitations, technology is evolving at an even faster rate. The future remains full of possibilities, risks, and infinite potential.

Ethena Labs Brings USDe Stablecoin to Telegram via TON Blockchain Integration | NFT News Today

Ethena Labs Brings USDe Stablecoin to Telegram via TON Blockchain Integration | NFT News Today

In a move that could reshape the way we use Telegram for financial transactions, Ethena Labs is partnering with the TON Foundation to introduce its synthetic dollar stablecoins—USDe and sUSDe—to the TON blockchain. Since Telegram connects over 1 billion users every month, this collaboration has the potential to offer a variety of new financial tools directly within the familiar messaging app.

A Closer Look at the Stablecoin Rollout

Rebranding for the TON Ecosystem

For the TON community, sUSDe will be rebranded as tsUSDe. Both USDe and tsUSDe will be supported across a range of Telegram-friendly wallets, including:

Telegram’s Built-in Custodial Wallet: Ideal for users who want straightforward crypto management.

TON Space: A self-custodial wallet for those who prefer full control over their assets.

Third-Party Wallets (Tonkeeper, Tonhub, and MyTonWallet): Expanding accessibility and encouraging broader adoption within the TON ecosystem.

This multi-wallet strategy is designed to meet the varying levels of comfort people have with holding their own assets while making synthetic stablecoins more accessible to Telegram’s global community.

Earning Yield with tsUSDe

One highlight of this partnership is a 10% APY on tsUSDe holdings, offered through participating wallets. As of early May 2025, users with non-custodial wallets (like Tonkeeper or TON Space) already receive weekly TON token rewards, with more wallets scheduled to join soon. These incentives are in addition to Ethena’s usual sUSDe yield mechanisms, creating extra ways for users to earn.

Source Ethena

Introducing “USDT Earn”

On top of that, Ethena plans to roll out a “USDT Earn” feature. This will let people deposit their Tether (USDT) and collect returns tied to the performance of USDe. In other words, if you hold USDT but still want to tap into Ethena’s synthetic stablecoin ecosystem, you’ll have an opportunity to earn extra yield.

Boosting TON’s DeFi Scene

By bringing Ethena’s synthetic assets on-chain, the partnership aims to reinvigorate TON’s decentralized finance (DeFi) environment. Recent dips in user engagement have prompted the TON Foundation to focus on growing its ecosystem, and offering synthetic stablecoins and yield-earning opportunities could be a step in the right direction. Future development plans include:

A TON debit card to turn crypto rewards into everyday purchases

Payment integrations with Apple Pay and other debit services

User-friendly tools to make peer-to-peer transactions and DeFi activities more accessible within Telegram

What Sets Synthetic Stablecoins Apart?

Unlike traditional stablecoins such as USDT or USDC—which are backed by fiat reserves—synthetic stablecoins like USDe rely on financial derivatives and hedging to stay pegged to the dollar. Ethena uses a delta-neutral strategy to keep its value stable and generatFe yield at the same time. This opens up flexible saving options and is especially appealing for users in economies dealing with inflation or volatile currencies.

Why Telegram’s Fintech Pivot Matters

This move by Telegram fits into a broader trend among messaging platforms, such as WeChat and Line, which have integrated payment features for convenience. Telegram, however, is diving deeper by embracing blockchain-based assets and decentralized wallets. Essentially, it’s aiming to be part instant messenger and part financial hub—all in one app.

Staggered Rollout Throughout May 2025

Ethena’s integration with TON will happen in stages. Initially, tsUSDe and USDe will be compatible with non-custodial wallets like Tonkeeper and TON Space. After that, support will extend to Telegram’s own custodial wallet. Later phases will focus on weaving these synthetic assets into more areas of TON’s DeFi ecosystem, giving users ample ways to trade, lend, and save.

For Ethena, teaming up with the TON Foundation means tapping into a massive user base that extends across the globe. For TON, offering yield-bearing synthetic stablecoins could help bring renewed energy to its blockchain scene.

For Telegram’s hundreds of millions of users—especially those in places dealing with currency risks—these new features may offer a practical way to save, earn yield, and transact in dollar-pegged assets without ever leaving the app they already use daily.

Claynosaurz Expands From Solana to Sui With New NFTs, Upcoming Game – Decrypt

Claynosaurz Expands From Solana to Sui With New NFTs, Upcoming Game – Decrypt

In brief

Claynosaurz is expanding from the Solana blockchain to Sui for upcoming features and drops.
A new NFT collection will be minted on Sui, and the chain will support the project’s achievements system.
The upcoming Claynosaurz game will also release on the SuiPlay0X1 handheld device.

Claynosaurz, an NFT-driven entertainment brand that first set up shop on Solana, is expanding to a second blockchain: Sui.

The announcement came during Token2049’s Sui Basecamp event, where Claynosaurz CEO Andrew Pelekis outlined how the team is setting its sights on a broader frontier for interactive digital IP—starting with a series of upcoming launches tied to collectibles, gaming, and community engagement.

The expansion builds on a March reveal that Claynosaurz would use Walrus Protocol—a decentralized storage platform built by core contributors to Sui—as its backend infrastructure of choice. With this foundation in place, Claynosaurz is gearing up to introduce a suite of experiences that tap into Sui’s technology.

“We’re not moving chains—we’re expanding to shape the future of entertainment,” said Pelekis. “Sui offers a scalable, flexible foundation that empowers us to build entertainment products that feel frictionless, immersive, and rewarding—whether you’re a seasoned Web3 user or brand new to NFTs.”

The original Claynosaurz NFTs will remain on Solana, with newer expansions to the project debuting on Sui going forward.

“The Genesis collections will always be on Solana,” said Claynosaurz founder and Co-Creative Director Nicholas Cabana. “That’s their provenance. But for expansionary collections tied to new experiences, we’re doing that with Sui.”

First up is the achievements system, an ecosystem-wide rewards engine that recognizes engagement across gameplay, collecting, and creative contributions. While Claynosaurz’s Solana-based NFTs like the O.G. collection and Saga phone-related assets will still be integrated, the badges themselves will be minted on Sui. The system also includes “soft staking,” letting holders earn rewards from both Solana and Sui assets.

A Claynosaurz Popkins pack. Image: Claynosaurz

This month, Claynosaurz will debut Popkins, a 25,000-character expansion on Sui that introduces a new species into the Clayno universe. Popkins won’t launch via a standard mint. Instead, collectors will purchase themed booster packs containing digital perks like shop discounts and in-game cosmetics.

Each pack includes a chance to catch a Popkin—but it’s not guaranteed.

When you open a pack, the contents will shake loose and there will be either a Popkin in it—meaning you caught one—or otherwise, one of nine collectible species cards.

Later in 2025, Claynosaurz will also roll out its first mobile game for iOS and Android, and eventually the SuiPlay0X1 gaming handheld.

The game promises real-time creature battles and rich world-building, but the blockchain layer will be completely abstracted for casual players, with gameplay designed to appeal to non-Web3 natives users while still integrating Web3 mechanics behind the scenes.

Claynosaurz said the move to Sui is rooted in both technical ambition and community growth, and that the chain will “enable Claynosaurz to craft the most epic and engaging on-chain experience ever” via the combination of storytelling, gameplay, and collectibles.

The full mint mechanics, distribution, and pricing are expected to be revealed soon.

MOVE Downed 80%: Catalyzed by Negative Information Overload

MOVE Downed 80%: Catalyzed by Negative Information Overload

The $MOVE token has seen a sharp dump recently due to malicious activities from market makers, the internal team, and a past sell-off from Web3Port Labs in December 2024.

$MOVE Downed more than 80% since ATH

Movement Network’s native token, MOVE, has experienced a precipitous decline, falling over 80% from its ATH of $0.25, with current prices hovering around $0.19-$0.25 as of May 2, 2025. This significant erosion in value was exacerbated by a critical development on May 1, 2025, when Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, announced the suspension of MOVE trading effective May 15, 2025, citing the token’s failure to meet its listing standards.

Learn more: What is Movement?

Following the announcement, MOVE’s price plummeted by approximately 14%-20% within hours, reflecting heightened market uncertainty and investor concerns surrounding Movement Labs’ operational instability. This decision, coupled with ongoing controversies, has intensified scrutiny on the project and contributed to its diminished market confidence.

$MOVE Downed more than 80% since ATH

$MOVE downed significantly in 3 months – Source: CoinGecko

Key Factors Contributing to the Decline

Coinbase Trading Suspension and Listing Standards

Coinbase’s decision to suspend MOVE trading stems from a routine review that determined the token no longer complies with the exchange’s stringent listing criteria.

The shift to “limit-only mode” on Coinbase’s platforms, effective immediately, restricts trading to specific price levels, further constraining liquidity.

This move follows a pattern of erratic price movements and evidence of insider profit-taking, which have undermined the token’s credibility. The suspension has been particularly damaging given Coinbase’s significant market influence, with the token’s price dropping to an all-time low of $0.18-$0.20 post-announcement before a modest rebound to $0.25.

Market Manipulation Scandal Involving Market Makers

A major catalyst for MOVE’s decline was a market manipulation scandal uncovered in March 2025, which implicated a market maker associated with Movement Labs. Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, banned a market maker—speculated to be Web3Port or its affiliate Rentech—for misconduct after it dumped 66 million MOVE tokens (approximately 5% of the total supply) on December 10, 2024, one day after the token’s listing.

This sell-off, valued at $38 million, was executed with minimal buy-side support, triggering a sharp price crash and raising allegations of price manipulation. The market-making agreement, which incentivized artificial price inflation to achieve a $5 billion valuation, was criticized by industry experts as “dangerous” and unethical, further eroding investor trust.

Binance subsequently froze the market maker’s profits and collaborated with Movement Labs and the Movement Network Foundation to initiate a $38 million token buyback program to stabilize prices, though this measure has failed to halt the token’s downward trajectory.

Internal Instability and Ongoing Investigations

Movement Labs has faced significant internal challenges, including allegations of mismanagement and conflicts of interest. A third-party investigation, launched on April 21, 2025, by Groom Lake, an independent cybersecurity firm, is examining a market-making agreement that granted Rentech disproportionate control over MOVE’s token supply.

Learn more: $MOVE Token Under Fire As Co-Founder Controversy

Internal documents revealed that Movement Labs was misled into signing this deal, which allowed Rentech to facilitate a $38 million sell-off, exacerbating price volatility. Additionally, co-founder Rushi Manche temporarily stepped back amid the scandal, raising concerns about leadership stability, while co-founder Cooper Scanlon continues to lead the project.

The Movement Network Foundation has distanced itself from the market maker’s actions, claiming no prior knowledge of the misconduct, but these developments have fueled negative sentiment within the crypto community.

Wrap-up

The combination of Coinbase’s trading suspension, the market manipulation scandal, and internal governance issues has severely undermined MOVE’s market position.

Despite a brief price increase of 25% in late March 2025 following the announcement of a Strategic Reserve, the token has struggled to recover from its 80% decline since its ATH. The project’s initial promise, backed by prominent investors such as Polychain Capital and Binance Labs, and its $40.4 million in funding, has been overshadowed by these controversies.

Furthermore, the delay of the anticipated MoveDrop airdrop event, intended to distribute 740 million tokens, has disappointed investors.

Another bad news that could happen to Movement Labs is that the World Liberty Finance gives up the $MOVE supply in their portfolio, leading to a prolonged unstable situation for the token.

As Movement Labs navigates this turbulent period, the ongoing third-party investigation and the effectiveness of its buyback program will be critical in determining whether the project can restore investor confidence.

At the moment, MOVE remains highly volatile, trading on exchanges like Binance and Upbit, but its future hinges on addressing these systemic issues and rebuilding trust within the crypto ecosystem. However, for the recent negative influence from $MOVE, the risk of delisting from major exchanges could not be undeniable.

MapleStory N Release Date, Gameplay & NFT Features Explained | NFT News Today

MapleStory N Release Date, Gameplay & NFT Features Explained | NFT News Today

MapleStory N Release Date, Gameplay & NFT Features Explained is on every player’s mind as Nexon’s latest step into blockchain-powered MMORPGs. Scheduled to launch globally on May 15, 2025, MapleStory N merges classic side-scrolling action with NFT-driven ownership.

Key Takeaways

MapleStory N arrives on PC worldwide on May 15, 2025.

It combines traditional 2D MapleStory gameplay with blockchain mechanics.

Players can earn, trade, and own in-game items as NFTs without transaction fees.

There is no cash shop; all premium currency (“neso”) is earned through gameplay.

Community contributors help shape content, securing token rewards for participation.

What Is MapleStory N?

MapleStory N is a brand-new title from Nexpace—an arm of Nexon—built on a gasless blockchain infrastructure known as AvaCloud (Avalanche). It retains the side-scrolling, monster-hunting elements long-time MapleStory fans recognize, while adding an on-chain economy that encourages item ownership and trading through NFTs.

This game stands as the first major launch within the broader MapleStory Universe, which promises a shared ecosystem across multiple games. That universe is where player-driven trading meets the nostalgia of 2D gameplay that many fans know and love. And where new gamers can find a fresh take on online interaction.

Release Date and Platform

Nexon plans to release MapleStory N globally on May 15, 2025. At launch, it will be available exclusively for PC. Future expansions or platform details have not been confirmed, but the team has hinted that the MapleStory Universe could expand in ways that benefit other apps, games, and user-generated content.

Gameplay Mechanics and Blockchain Integration

MapleStory N preserves the classic 2D side-scrolling format, featuring quests, monster battles, and party-based adventures. The key difference lies in blockchain-powered systems:

Gasless Transactions: On-chain actions happen without fees, so there’s no typical barrier associated with blockchain games.

Secure Blockchain Infrastructure: AvaCloud (part of the Avalanche ecosystem) facilitates real-time, tamper-proof records of item trades and ownership.

Item Rarity & Distribution: Unlike typical MMORPGs where bosses and mobs can endlessly drop items, MapleStory N limits and periodically distributes new gear. This approach makes each valuable find more meaningful.

NFT Features and On-Chain Economy

A defining feature is its NFT-driven economy, where players can truly own and trade items:

Item Types:

Local Items: Stay in a player’s inventory but cannot be traded.

Unchained Items: Tradable and upgradeable assets that appear on the blockchain.

NFT Items: Rare, marketable gear shared across the MapleStory Universe.

Marketplace: A dedicated marketplace allows buyers and sellers to transact NFT items. Some NFTs may also be transferable into future MapleStory Universe apps, enhancing the long-term value of each digital collectible.

True Ownership: Owning an NFT item means the asset remains in the player’s control, even outside the game. This significantly changes how in-game economies work, giving control back to the community.

Free-to-Play Model and Monetization

MapleStory N adopts a fully free-to-play approach without a cash shop:

No Direct Purchases: Real money cannot directly buy in-game assets.

Neso Currency: MapleStory N introduces “neso,” earned only through gameplay. Players may trade neso with others if they desire to accelerate their progress.

Fair Opportunities: Since in-game growth and currency acquisition depend on actual play, it balances out the advantage that paying for boosts might have once provided in other MMORPGs.

Community Involvement and User-Generated Content

Nexon has built MapleStory N to encourage collective creativity and collaboration:

Community-Driven Items: Creators, modders and developers can submit new items that fit the MapleStory N experience.

Token Rewards: Contributors who bring innovative ideas or content to the ecosystem can receive special tokens in recognition.

User Engagement: Periodic events, competitions, and development updates foster communication between the official team and the player community.

Security and Anti-Cheat Measures

Fair play is a cornerstone of MapleStory N. Nexon applies its extensive experience managing massively multiplayer games, employing:

Advanced Anti-Cheat Protocols: Automated systems detect unusual player behavior, multi-client abuse, or exploitation.

Blockchain-Based Verification: On-chain records make it easier to identify shady item trades or suspicious wallet activity, helping maintain a fair environment for all.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is MapleStory N truly free-to-play?

Yes. Players invest time and effort to acquire in-game currency (neso) and items. Real money purchases are unavailable in the game’s ecosystem.

How do I acquire NFT items?

NFT items drop under special conditions or can be traded through the official marketplace. Each item’s supply is limited, which keeps in-game economics balanced.

Will MapleStory N run on other platforms in the future?

At launch, MapleStory N is planned only for PC. Nexon has not ruled out other platforms, but no official announcements have been made.

Do I need a crypto wallet to participate?

Yes, though the game makes it simple. Wallet creation can be done during account setup, and gasless transactions mean players do not face blockchain fees.

Can I use my MapleStory N items in other MapleStory games?

Some NFT items may transfer across the MapleStory Universe. Nexon has indicated future titles and apps might share certain items to strengthen continuity and ownership.

Final Thoughts

MapleStory N is a new take on the MapleStory franchise. Classic side-scrolling battles combined with on-chain mechanics so you can truly own your gear and shape the economy. This is Nexon’s vision for a community driven ecosystem where user generated content and advanced anti-cheat tech means long term engagement. Launching May 15th 2025, MapleStory N’s mix of nostalgia and blockchain is going to grab the attention of gamers looking for something new in online RPG.

Oh Great, Now Microsoft Is Raising The Price Of The Xbox, Its Games And Accessories

Oh Great, Now Microsoft Is Raising The Price Of The Xbox, Its Games And Accessories

Just a few weeks ago, PlayStation announced that it was raising the price of the PS5 yet again. Perhaps that was an ill omen because now Microsoft is treading that same path, revealing that the Xbox is going to get a price hike, along with some of its games and accessories. Check out the charts I’ve whipped up below to see the new prices.

The new prices will go into effect…well, now, actually. On top of that, Microsoft also stated that this summer the price of “some” of its first-party titles will go up to $80. This is in line with Nintendo, which recently said that Mario Kart World will retail for $80.

Xbox controllers are also going up in price.

“As of May 1, we have adjusted recommended retailer pricing for our consoles and controllers worldwide,” said the official Xbox website. “We also expect to adjust the pricing of some of our new, first-party games starting this holiday season to $79.99. Those titles purchased on the Xbox Store have the benefit of Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to buy once and play on console and PC at no additional cost.”

Ubisoft Says Prince Of Persia Is “Just Warming Up” As Lost Crown Surpasses 2 Million Players

Ubisoft Says Prince Of Persia Is “Just Warming Up” As Lost Crown Surpasses 2 Million Players

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has surpassed 2 million players, Ubisoft said in a brief announcement. The news comes roughly 15 months after The Lost Crown’s release in January 2024, and Ubisoft appears to be teasing a bright future for the series.

“Well over 2M players by now,” Ubisoft said on the Prince of Persia’s official X account.” You’ve revived the legend. The Prince is back, and believe us–he’s just warming up.”

What Ubisoft has in store for The Prince of Persia is anyone’s guess, though. The company disbanded The Lost Crown’s development team in October 2024 on account of lower-than-forecasted sales, though those who worked on the game were shuffled around to different parts of Ubisoft and not laid off. It’s worth noting that 2 million players isn’t the same as 2 million sales. The Lost Crown was available on Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service, and has also been part of the PS Plus Extra and Premium.

The Lost Crown released to widespread praise from critics, including GameSpot’s Steve Watts, who called it “so confident and impeccably crafted that this should simply be the identity of Prince of Persia for the foreseeable future.” Ubisoft reportedly rejected Ideas for a Lost Crown sequel prior to breaking up the development team, though the company never confirmed whether that was true.

Meanwhile, The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake remains in development, apparently on track for release sometime in 2026. Ubisoft first announced the project in 2020, though it was delayed several times, including an “indefinite delay” in 2021, and restarted development completely in 2023. It re-entered full production in June 2024, though Ubisoft has said nothing about the project since.

Instead, thanks to some quick-thinking PR work from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and The Sentry (Lewis Pullman) holding back the entity known as The Void with the help of his new friends, the world has now been introduced to a fresh group of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes — the New Avengers (yes, that’s what the asterisk means). For a brief moment, after assuring Valentina, “We own you now,” Yelena (Florence Pugh) lets out a sigh of relief, seemingly accepting that she has finally stopped simply existing and instead has a purpose in a world where she could actually do some good.

The only concern, for now, is how long that will last and what kind of confrontation she and her team could encounter. They may have saved the day this time around, but with a potential new threat entering their airspace, how will this cosmic event be dealt with by the new team of Avengers, while another is waiting to reassemble? Let’s not jump ahead of ourselves, though. First, let’s catch up with the Red Guardian (David Harbour), who has finally had his wish come true and become a breakfast of champions.

The first Thunderbolts* post-credits scene focuses on Red Guardian

After all that talk about becoming a hero on the cereal box that comes with the little kiddie toy, it’s revealed during the mid-credits scene that the New Avengers have now become exactly that. While a simple civilian is at the supermarket, she’s pressured by Alexei into buying a brand new box of Wheaties that he and the team are pictured on. Unfortunately, his salesmanship isn’t so great, and the woman kinda weirded out, immediately putting the box back while Alexei isn’t looking, proving that the Red Guardian should stick to what he’s good at in the future.

As far as mid-credits scenes go, this is certainly in line with the comedic moments tacked onto the end of some other great Marvel movies. Proving that this team of New Avengers might be getting marketed to a greater extent than their predecessors (though Hulk and Iron Man did have their own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavors), it’s just a nice add-on gag and a decent payoff for Alexei’s obsession with reaching hero status.

Taking the time out to have a giggle at the Red Guardian’s expense is just a nice note to leave things on, but it’s the final scene with Alexei and his team that should have fans buzzing for what’s coming next. Besides spending its final seconds on a bombastic and fantastic note, it’s the matter of legal trouble and conflict with another world-famous team that could be setting up some interesting plot threads for the New Avengers going forward.

The second Thunderbolts* post-credits scene hints at New Avengers vs The Avengers

The New Avengers have settled into Stark Tower, or the Watchtower as it’s now known, 14 months after their inception. Unfortunately, while they might still be getting into the swing of things as a team, they’re also receiving kickback from the older iteration. Bucky (Sebastian Stan) reveals that former Avenger and new Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), is suing them for taking the name of Earth’s original hero squad. When Yelena asks him if talks of settling the issue were successful, the former congressman admits that things didn’t go well with his old friend, implying that they might be back on squabbling terms. Worry not, though, as Alexei’s master plan to avoid such an issue is simply to turn the group into the “New Avengerz,” thereby dodging the incoming lawsuit.

While this might be a minor superhero spat to begin with, it’s worth noting that the New Avengers was a real group formed in the comics in 2004, following the dissolution of the original team. Referred to as “New” only in the book’s title, the team consisted of Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, along with Spider-Woman (who was secretly a Skrull), Echo (posing as Ronin), Luke Cage, and eventually The Sentry. Just like the film, things got a little heated with The Avengers reformed during Civil War, pitting heroes and teams against one another. With this in mind, it seems evident that a New Avengers vs. Old Avengers story could come to fruition eventually, but there’s five reasons why that will have to wait — and four of them have just entered the atmosphere.

The Fantastic Four arrive in The Thunderbolts*

It was always expected that Marvel’s First Family would be making an appearance elsewhere before their own film, so literally soaring into the sky for “Thunderbolts*” made for the perfect entrance. After Yelena gets reports of an unknown space invader, satellite imagery picks up an aircraft that looks like it’s flown straight out of a Gerry Anderson show. Shiny, silver, and hurtling through the air, the angular vessel (previously seen in the trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”) reveals the team’s logo emblazoned on the side. From there, Michael Giacchino’s hair-raising score kicks in before we’re assured that “The New Avengers and Bob Will Return.”

It’s a tease-worthy moment that does enough to hook us and tap back into the kind of classic MCU post-credit moments we’ve missed these past few years. It also raises more questions about the approaching team and the chain of events yet to unfold. Just how far into “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” story does this moment occur, and how does the shift from their reality to Earth-616 happen? We already know that the trailer teases Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and his family on a highly dangerous mission, but will it be one with enough time to make it into the final act and tee up the equally iconic rival that’s set to follow them? Doom is coming, and if we do the inter-dimensional math, there’s a lot of ground to cover, and there might not be enough time to fill it.

What the Thunderbolts* post-credits scenes man for Avengers: Doomsday

What we can confirm so far from “Thunderbolts*” is that when Latveria’s fearless leader arrives, his longtime comic book foes will already be there to meet him. Now, as awesome as it might be seeing Robert Downey Jr. in a different metal suit meet Pedro Pascal’s stretchy scientist for the first time, Doom might have to get in line.

For now, we can only assume that the first encounter with Earth-616 will be the New Avengers, given that they’ve got a lead on the world-saving family that may have just fled their own to save it. Such a cross of characters could spark the same kind of fun when Downey’s Tony Stark met the Guardians of the Galaxy in “Avengers: Infinity War,” with the likes of John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Pascal’s Reed coming with the same energy as Peter Quill and Tony crossing paths for the first time. Of course, the race is on to see who gets to meet them first.

Given that Bucky and Sam appear to be no longer on speaking terms, would a space race of sorts be on for both Avengers teams fighting to get to the Fantastic Four first, and will they be able to put name ownership aside when they’re faced with… Doom? Whatever happens, it will demand a lot of time even before Victor arrives and these things can’t be rushed.

We’ll just have to see what else is on the way when “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” lands in theaters on July 25, 2025

Inside Gavin Plumb’s life in prison following Holly Willoughby kidnap and murder plot – previous convictions; where he’s being held; when he’ll be released

Inside Gavin Plumb’s life in prison following Holly Willoughby kidnap and murder plot – previous convictions; where he’s being held; when he’ll be released

Channel 5 documentary The Plot to Kill Holly Willoughby is on TV tonight (Thursday, May 1) – and it delves into Gavin Plumb’s obsession with the former This Morning co-host.

Plumb, a 37-year-old man from Harlow in Essex, was handed three concurrent life sentences in July 2024. Security guard Plumb had been found guilty of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder Holly, having been arrested in October 2023.

He’d denied the charges – but Plumb was convicted following an eight-day trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

“I find that you are dangerous”

Justice Murray stated he had considered the impact of the case on women in a wider sense, as well as how Holly was affected.

He told Plumb: “I have no doubt this was more than a fantasy to you. You always intended to carry out your plan to kidnap, rape and kill Ms Willoughby.”

He also revealed Plumb intended to sexually assault the TV personality, and then “slit her throat, wash her in bleach and dump her in a lake”.

Justice Murray then read out all Plumb’s previous violent sexually motivated offences. And he then revealed how he had come to his sentencing verdict.

Explaining that Plumb poses a “significant risk” to women, he added: “I find that you are dangerous.”

      Holly Willoughby statement

Holly, who did not attend the trial or sentencing, released an emotional statement following the verdict, saying: “As women we should not be made to feel unsafe going about our daily lives and in our own homes.”

What previous convictions did Gavin Plumb have?

During the trial, the court heard Plumb had previous convictions for attempted kidnap. He once attempted to abduct two women off a train.

He also had two previous convictions for false imprisonment after holding two 16-year-old girls at knifepoint.

The court also heard how Plumb had been having graphic and sexualised conversations online about attacking Holly since December 2021.

In messages shown in court, Plumb had shared pictures of Holly’s home as well as faked pornographic images of the star. He even discussed booking time off work to put his plan into action.

During conversations with an undercover officer he befriended online – who later alerted authorities about Plumb’s plans – Plumb shared pictures of a ‘kidnap kit‘ – which included manacles and whips he owned.

Plumb said he was “sorry” for the contents of his messages. “I’m absolutely heartbroken, disgusted and shocked that it has come out,” he said.

He also claimed it was nothing more than online chat. Plumb insisted it “was never going to be anything more than a fantasy”.

However, Alison Morgan KC told the jury: “It was not just the ramblings of a fantasist.” She also added Plumb had carefully planned out what he would do and what items he would use to carry out the attack.

When might Gavin Plumb potentially be released?

Justice Murray concluded Plumb will serve a minimum of 15 years in jail.

The judge told him at the time of sentencing: “I conclude that I must impose on you a sentence of imprisonment for life, which will in fact be three concurrent sentences for life. This is not a case where it is necessary to impose a whole life order. In other words, an order where there is no possibility of you being released. But accordingly I must determine the minimum term you must serve for each conviction.”

What has happened to Holly Willoughby?

Holly quit This Morning around the time Plumb was arrested. She didn’t return to TV until Dancing On Ice earlier in 2024.

She returned for another series of DOI this year before it was announced the ITV series was to be shelved.

Holly has also made appearances on You Bet! and Celebrity Bear Hunt since Plumb’s arrest.

She is not believed to have been involved in the new documentary. But it has been reported Holly is ‘concerned’ about the programme as it will “bring back a lot of the horrendous memories”.
