Arbitrum has announced a $10 million investment into blockchain gaming through its newly formalised venture initiative, Arbitrum Gaming Ventures.

The capital is being deployed as part of a broader $200 million programme funded by the Arbitrum DAO and is focused on supporting early-stage projects building within the Arbitrum ecosystem, marking the first major tranche under the programme and includes participation from venture capital firms Paradigm, Framework Ventures, and BITKRAFT.

Five projects have been selected for funding, covering both game development and infrastructure.

What is the investment for?

The $10 million allocation is intended to support projects working on games, publishing platforms, and underlying infrastructure. The five selected recipients are Wildcard, Hyve Labs, T-Rex, Xai, and Proof of Play.

Wildcard is developing a multiplayer game that combines third-person combat with spectator interaction. It is led by industry veterans with experience in mainstream game development.Hyve Labs is creating a gaming-specific rollup designed to allow cross-platform gameplay on social platforms and browsers.T-Rex is focused on consumer blockchain infrastructure, with operations concentrated in Southeast Asia.Xai is building a Layer 3 chain using Arbitrum Orbit, intended to connect traditional PC games to blockchain features.Proof of Play is an on-chain game studio best known for Pirate Nation. The company is led by the co-creator of FarmVille and backed by a16z.

“Arbitrum Gaming Ventures is backing proven founders who aren’t just making games—they’re helping create an even more vibrant Arbitrum ecosystem,” said Rick Johanson, Partner at Arbitrum Gaming Ventures.

“This first cohort reflects our commitment to supporting high-quality experiences that are built for the long term—products that attract players, retain them, and expand meaningful engagement across Arbitrum.”

Why is this significant?

This is the first major investment round conducted under the Arbitrum Gaming Ventures programme, previously known as The Gaming Catalyst, representing a shift from grant-based support to direct capital deployment and indicates a more targeted approach to ecosystem development.

The initiative reflects Arbitrum’s strategy to compete in a growing market for blockchain-based games and infrastructure. Other networks such as Immutable and Ronin have also made gaming a core focus, and Arbitrum’s latest move positions it to retain developers and attract new projects.

The selected projects include a mix of infrastructure providers and game studios, showing an effort to support both content and the systems that underpin it. Some of the funded developers, such as Xai and Proof of Play, are already integrated into the Arbitrum ecosystem, whilst others are newly joining.

What’s next for Arbitrum?

In parallel, Arbitrum continues to offer grants to smaller or earlier-stage projects through the Arbitrum Foundation. Recent recipients include Tarta Games, Sanko, and L3E7.

Palia’s highly anticipated Elderwood update is releasing today at 10 AM (PT), which will bring a ton of new content for players to enjoy. The main story continues in the new magical region, where players get to meet a new villager, explore mysterious areas, forage for new items, catch new fish and critters, and more. With all of the new items, materials, ingredients, etc. that Elderwood offers, players are worried about insufficient storage in Palia. It is because there has been no increase in the overall storage capacity for the storage chests, and the Décor Limit does not help with storing materials.

It is Time for More Storage Capacity or the Palium Tier Storage Chest

Currently, Palia offers three tiers of Storage Chests: Wooden, Copper, and Iron. Each Storage Chest holds a certain number of items, and you can place up to 8 storage chests in the Housing Plot. The maximum number of items or storage capacity that a player can have is 10,000. This is achieved by placing 8 iron storage chests, each one offering 1,250 storage capacity. As most of the players like hoarding the materials, crops, and ingredients, they usually fill up a 10,000 capacity easily.

However, the developers encourage players not to hoard the items, especially the common ones. The developers encourage players to sell the items to make space for the new items. It is a great way to make space and earn Gold on the side, but players are asking for more Storage regardless.

As the Elderwood has its own Palium mining node, players wonder if the developers will introduce a new tier of storage chest. Palium is one of the rarest minerals in Palia. If the developers add the Palium Storage Chest, it will offer more storage capacity. Alternatively, the developers can also increase the number of storage chests that players can place in the Housing Plot to increase the maximum storage capacity.

For now, the official Patch Notes of Elderwood update only mention the increase in Décor Limit. The Décor Limit has increased to 3,500, but it does not help with storing materials. So, if players have to grind for the new materials, forageables, ingredients, and crops, they will have to get rid of the older items to store them.

    Brand new show Virgin Island premiered on Channel 4 last night (May 12) and viewers were appalled by the “shocking” scenes.

    The show follows 12 adults, who are mostly in their 20s, who have never had sex before. And so they travel to an Island in Croatia to complete a range of tasks to guide them towards losing their virginity.

    Throughout the course of the show, the therapists will throw them into the deep-end, guiding them on extremely intimate situations. But the bizarre scenes led viewers feeling very uncomfortable.

    What is Virgin Island on Channel 4?

    While there are some TV shows out there that are unusual, Virgin Island seems to be at the top of the list.

    During the first episode, we were introduced to some of therapists who are “surrogate partners”. Their job is to take on the more physical sides of things, and can legally have sex with their clients.

    28-year-old Zac was the first person on the island to meet with his surrogate partner, and got very involved in his first session, telling her he was keen to take it all the way.

    However, it wasn’t that simple for other people on the show, as 29-year-old Taylor burst into tears during one of the first tasks of maintaining eye contact with another contestant.

    Elsewhere in the episode, each contestant was asked to write down their “hottest fantasy” and then had to read it aloud to the rest of the group. Then later in the episode they all burned their fantasies in a fire.

    While the show tries to reinforce that they’re trying to grow their confidence and find the deeper meanings behind the participants fears. But it wasn’t received that way by Channel 4 viewers.

    Fans ‘disgusted’ over new show

    Taking to social media, one viewer penned: “This is hands down the most disgusting bit of television I have ever seen. Who came up with this? Even Channel 5 would have passed on this [bleep].

    “Anyone else a bit creeped out by this show?” another asked.

    A third commented: “I can’t believe somebody pitched this. And then somebody gave it the green light.”

    Another added: “This shouldn’t be allowed on TV. It’s the weirdest [bleep] I have ever seen.”

    An enraged fan penned: “I think they all need a body confidence and self love course more than this. When they love themselves sex will happen, but this is just weird.”

    “How is this classed as therapy?” a confused fan asked.

    Virgin Island continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.

    NVIDIA today received multiple accolades at COMPUTEX’s Best Choice Awards, in recognition of innovation across the company.

    The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU won the Gaming and Entertainment category award; the NVIDIA Quantum-X Photonics InfiniBand switch system won the Networking and Communication category award; NVIDIA DGX Spark won the Computer and System category award; and the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system and NVIDIA Cosmos world foundation model development platform won Golden Awards.

    The awards recognize the outstanding functionality, innovation and market promise of technologies in each category.

    Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, will deliver a keynote at COMPUTEX on Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m. Taiwan time.

    GB200 NVL72 and NVIDIA Cosmos Go Gold

    NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 and NVIDIA Cosmos each won Golden Awards.
