This article contains spoilers for “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”
You never forget the first time you see it: a truck that appears to be humongous, barely fitting within a single lane on a busy highway. Its payload, a large number of thick, hefty, freshly-cut logs, sits precariously on its flatbed, barely held in place by just three chains, which, when compared to the mighty logs, seem precariously flimsy. It’s the sort of vehicle you wouldn’t be too enthused about driving behind under the best of circumstances, for not only would it cut off your visibility, but it would compel you to conjure up images of your worst fears, should one of those logs fall off the truck. In the film “Final Destination 2,” all of those fears come true, as a premonition of death by one of the characters is depicted, the logs begin careening off the truck, and the result is one of the most awesome and terrifying highway disasters ever filmed.
Ever since “Final Destination 2” was released in January of 2003, generations of people have been extra wary of logging trucks, and for good reason. The film, directed by David R. Ellis, was so effective in depicting the type of accident that every motorist has nightmares about that it made the very sight of the vehicles feel like an ill omen. I once experienced it firsthand, forced to drive for miles on a single-lane highway behind a log truck, and my anxiety level was through the roof the whole time. As much of an influence the log truck sequence has had on real life, it’s had equal weight on the “Final Destination” film series. With each subsequent installment, the “Final Destination” films found new, ingenious, and often ridiculous ways of allowing Death to visit its doomed characters through a series of Rube Goldbergian circumstances. Yet, despite a number of valiant and effective efforts, nothing has really topped the fear factor of that damn truck.
For the latest sequel in the series, “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” the filmmakers seem to finally be acknowledging the sheer lasting power of the deadly log truck. Even though the truck only claimed 15 or so lives in “Final Destination 2,” the number of people it scared out of their wits is countless, hence its status as the greatest horror movie villain of the century. As such, “Bloodlines” makes sure to bring back this icon in a series of surprise cameos, one you’ll certainly catch upon your first watch, and a couple you may not.
‘Bloodlines’ features a near-collision with the deadly log truck
Warner Bros. Pictures
The main cameo of the killer log truck in “Final Destination: Bloodlines” occurs at the end of the film’s second act, when Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), her brother Charlie (Teo Briones), and their mother Darlene (Rya Kihlstedt) are leaving a hospital. By this point, the family unit are well aware that Death is after them, as it’s attempting to follow a trail of cosmic course-correction that had been instigated by Stefani and Charlie’s grandmother, Iris (Gabrielle Rose/Brec Bassinger), who had a fateful premonition that helped her save her own life as well as dozens of others. Having recently witnessed firsthand the awesome power that Death has over creating circumstances that all but ensure the demise of those that it’s after, the trio make a plan to travel to the home of the now-deceased Iris, a place that the woman had death-proofed to the best of her ability.
As they begin to drive out of the hospital, the family becomes distracted for a moment and very nearly collide with oncoming traffic just outside the hospital entrance. Fortunately, our protagonists survive this particular brush with death, the close call reminding them that Death will arrive right when they’re not prepared for it. The vehicle they almost hit is none other than our buddy the log truck, looking bigger and badder than ever.
It’s possible that this is the exact same log truck from “Final Destination 2,” even though we don’t have concrete proof of that. After all, there would have been more than enough time between that movie and this one for the original truck to be repaired and put back into service. And don’t forget: the log truck was only one of two killer trucks in the road crash sequence from “Final Destination 2,” with the other killer truck being a car carrier, one which also made a killing after Kimberly (A.J. Cook) had her premonition. So, as seen in “FD 2” itself, while the log truck did the majority of the killer damage in the premonition, it was robbed of at least eight people it had been promised. This perhaps means that Death isn’t finished using the vehicle, and our villain still has a bloodlust in it.

The log truck Easter eggs in ‘Bloodlines’
Warner Bros. Pictures
This theory, that the log truck is the same log truck from “FD 2” come back for revenge, is born out by the other Easter eggs concerning the truck in “Bloodlines.” Its first appearance in the film is actually a sketch in Iris’ big book of research on Death. It’s full of reference material, which Iris compiled with the help of her lifelong friend, William Bludworth (Tony Todd), who has been seen as the closest thing to an authority on Death for the entirety of the series. Clearly, the appearance of the truck in Iris’ notes indicates that it has some special significance for Death. It also implies that maybe Kimberly’s premonition averting the originally planned car pile-up has left it a still-active threat for those targeted by Death.
The proof of all of this may lie in the film’s delightfully brutal final moments. During their fateful confrontation with Death at Iris’ cabin, Stefani appeared to die briefly before being revived by Charlie, thus causing the siblings to believe that Death would now skip over them due to Stefani experiencing a technical demise. However, after a physician neighbor of theirs explains that Stefani couldn’t have been revived if she had actually been dead, the two realize that they’ve been fooled into thinking they’d escaped, and it’s too late: a train has derailed on the tracks next to their neighborhood, and is careening toward them. Just as it seems they have outrun the crashing train, the momentum of the crash dislodges some freshly cut logs, sending them flying ahead and squishing Stefani and Charlie to death.
While it’s not made explicit that these are the very same logs that the log truck had been transporting, it’s entirely possible, and the connection would be entirely fitting for “Final Destination.” It not only appeals to Death’s wicked sense of humor, showing its victims the method of their demise, which they’re unaware of, but it also potentially closes the loop begun by “Final Destination 2” all those years prior. Although it may seem safe to go back on the highways now, I’d caution against it, because there’s just no way of being sure that Death doesn’t have further plans for that villainous log truck.
“Final Destination Bloodlines” is now playing in theaters everywhere.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) skewered the Trump family’s crypto firm, World Liberty Financial, on Friday—for what he called its “seriously inadequate” response to a Senate inquiry into the company’s business practices.
“This seriously inadequate response conveniently avoids the fact that foreign governments and others can enrich and compromise the President through World Liberty Financial,” Blumenthal said Friday in a statement shared with Decrypt, referencing a letter sent to him by the company earlier this week.
“WLFI’s refusal to answer even the most basic questions about President Trump’s financial entanglements with the company raises serious concerns,” the senator continued. “And I will continue demanding transparency for the American people.”
World Liberty Financial, led by Chase Herro, Zak Folkman, the Trump family, and the Witkoff family—who are close with the Trumps—is a so-called DeFi project, the sort that allows for the trading, lending, and borrowing of crypto assets without third-party intermediaries such as banks. The project, launched in September during the leadup to the U.S. presidential election, raised $550 million in a token sale and issued its own stablecoin in March.
Earlier this month, Blumenthal, the ranking member on the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent a letter to World Liberty’s leadership informing the decentralized finance company that it is now being investigated over potential violations of government ethics requirements and other laws, including the foreign emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution. The clause prohibits federal officials from accepting salaries, fees, or profits from foreign governments without the consent of Congress.
The inquiry opened days after World Liberty, which is partially owned by President Trump and his sons, announced a $2 billion deal backed by the UAE government and facilitated by World Liberty’s new stablecoin, USD1. Days prior, the firm announced it had agreed to advise the Pakistani government on crypto-related matters.
Blumenthal said such business dealings pose “unprecedented conflicts of interest and national security risks,” and asked the company to submit key information to the Senate’s Investigations Subcommittee—including details regarding President Trump’s involvement in the firm’s operations.
On Thursday, World Liberty’s attorneys replied to Blumenthal’s inquiry, which they dismissed as containing “inaccuracies and fundamentally flawed inferences.”
“The Company has exercised rigorous diligence to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations at every stage,” World Liberty’s attorney, Teresa Goody Guillén, wrote.
While the letter emphasized the importance of World Liberty’s self-stated mission of “democratizing access to the financial system,” it did not address President Trump’s ownership stake in the company or potential conflicts of interest posed by the company’s dealings with foreign governments. It also did not provide any of the information Blumenthal had requested about World Liberty’s operations.
Inquiries into the Trump family’s crypto dealings are now sprouting across Capitol Hill, as Democrats seize on the narrative. On Wednesday, House Democrats sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, demanding access to any suspicious activity reports (SARs) his department may have filed in recent months regarding the president’s now numerous crypto endeavors.

I like trash. Am I saying the new Doom game is trash? No. It’s fun! But I don’t think anyone’s fooling themselves into thinking it’s fine art, is what I’m getting at. And no, you won’t get three weeksof me talking about how muchI love this game like you did for Clair Obscur—which I still haven’t finished because I am glued to several grinding zones I’ve mapped out in the world where I’ll just spend five or six hours a night leveling up and drilling the combat. It’s so good that I—see? I almost wrote another damn entry for that RPG again!
Read More: Doom: The Dark Ages: The Kotaku Review
But no, this weekend I’m gonna log some hours with the new Doom (and maybe with Clair Obscur in between somewhere). Normally, I might’ve just not cared about a new Doom. 2016’s reboot was entertaining, but I bounced off of Eternal in its opening moments and never looked back. In recent years, I’ve also been properly introduced to ‘90s-era Doom, and I really fell in love with those games and various wads. So when I’m seeking Doom vibes, I tend to prefer perusing the older entries or toy with neat player-made creations.
So why am I playing the new Doom game? For the story, mostly! Though it’s less that the story has gripped me and more that I have a kind of morbid curiosity about what kind of story a narrative- and cutscene-heavy Doom could even be telling. Just like that one time I got curious about how a story that spans seven loosely adapted video-game films could work and thus watched every Milla Jovovich Resident Evil movie (wasn’t worth it, but there was some unexpectedly neat cinematography from time to time!). Maybe you have similar proclivities. If so, why not check out what the heck kind of story is in this narrative-focused prequel to the current Doom series?
Five hours into the game, however, I really couldn’t tell you what’s going on. The story seems to be more interested in just showing things happening when what’s needed is a bit of explanation for where the hell we even are. Or maybe it’s just that the dialogue is so nebulous and uninteresting that it’s easy to check out. The good news, though, is that the core loop, which is a bit long as it includes shooting, blocking, shield charging, shield throwing, and ammo-based melee strikes on top of the glory kill stuff that 2016’s Doom introduced, is fun if not a little easy on Ultra Violence difficulty.
I do still want this story to surprise me with at least one compelling scene, some clever line of dialogue, perhaps a bit of humor or some neat worldbuilding, so hopefully I come across that this weekend. Or not. Game’s fun either way! — Claire Jackson
In the coming weeks, Kit will start to question whether Brody (supposedly Mick and Lou’s son) could actually be his.
But, if this is the case, it’s bound to be a struggle for Kit to adjust to as Jacob admits that Kit’s ‘not ready to be a dad.’
Brody could be Kit’s son (Credit: ITV)
Brody ‘revealed’ as Kit’s son in Coronation Street
Viewers first met Brody in the STC, soon making friends with Dylan Wilson. But, he then showed his true colours by threatening Sean and Dylan, demanding that Sean gave him a burner phone.
When Sean didn’t succeed in the arrangement, Brody then got his mates to teach Dylan a lesson. And, Mick did the same for Sean by attacking him on the outside.
Brody is Mick and Lou’s son, but recent reports suggest that Kit is about to find out that Brody is actually his biological son.
A source told The Sun: “It’s going to be a big shock when Brody is revealed to be Mick and Lou’s son but it’s clear the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
They then added: “But there’s going to be a massive twist that reveals Brody isn’t Mick’s son – he’s really Kit Green’s.
“It’s going to be explosive as Kit discovers the truth and finds out he’s had a kid for years.”
And tonight (Friday, May 16), after flashback scenes which proved that Kit and Lou had been seeing each other while Mick took the blame for starting a fire, Kit walked into Speed Daal and realised how old Brody was… He’s definitely started to question things…
It’s a lot for Kit to process (Credit: ITV)
Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts opens up on Kit and Brody ‘twist’
While Coronation Street is yet to confirm whether Brody is actually Kit’s son, Kit Green is starting to wonder whether he could be.
Actor Jacob Roberts teased Kit’s initial reaction to questioning Brody’s paternity, speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media.
He teased: “Kit obviously knows that Brody’s just come out of the STC. And, I don’t think you can change a lad. I think the damage has already been done. So, if he is his, it’s going to be a shock to him.
“Although, I don’t think he thinks anything will change. He thinks Mick’s his dad, I’ve got nothing to do with this kid even if it is his blood.
“He’s not ready for a kid, he’s not ready for a baby, so how can he be ready for a 16 year old lad who has already learnt off his dad Mick?”
But, will Brody turn out to be Kit’s? And, what will this mean for Lou and Mick… and Kit going forward?
General Hospital sees several leading ladies whose lives are teetering on the edge of disaster and ready to explode at any moment. We’re talking about Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), we’re talking about Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), and five others.
There’s blackmail, there’s baby secrets, there’s filthy lies, and they are all about to come out and wreck lives all across Port Charles. We’re going to talk about how some of the major storylines are about to just upend the lives of seven of the female characters on the show in spectacular ways.
GH Spoilers: Kristina Corinthos-Davis Faces Prison or Mental Hospital
Number one, the first lady whose life is about to explode spectacularly is Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi). Eventually, we all knew it was going to come out that Kristina tampered with Ric Lansing‘s (Rick Hearst) brakes, thinking it was Ava Jerome‘s (Maura West) car, and we all know she’s responsible for the accident that almost killed Ric and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).
I do expect it’s going to be sooner rather than later now that even more people are being brought into the mix because as of recent episodes, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) now knows that Ava and Ric are blackmailing Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). And I expect he may tell Kristina because of course he knows about the brake lines. And then Kristina may feel like she has no choice but to confess to save Alexis.
General Hospital: Molly Rages?
But even if Kristina turns herself in and commits herself to the mental hospital while Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) works on her defense, that’s still not going to help Kristina’s relationship with Molly. Kristina and Molly finally patched things up after the whole surrogacy nightmare and after the baby’s death.
But once Molly finds out Kristina nearly killed her dad, Ric, because she’s so unhinged, Molly may never forgive her. So, pretty soon, Kristina may lose her sister. Her crimes might become public knowledge, and she’ll either be facing prison time or a lengthy stint in Shady Brook.
Ava Jerome’s Blackmail Scheme Explodes on GH
And Kristina leads us to the next character whose life is about to blow up, and that is Ava. So, she’s the second one. Alexis is working really hard to shut down Ava’s blackmail. And even though Alexis hit a speed bump recently, it looks like it’s going to happen soon thanks to Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and his top-notch cyber hacking skills. Ava knows that Alexis is on to her, and she moved Ric’s car before Alexis could destroy it. And she even left a note taunting the lady lawyer.
But pretty soon, Ava is going to be flat broke again. The blackmail is going to end. The money train is going to end as well. And then she’s going to be at risk of losing her art gallery and back in those dire financial straits she was in before. Now that Lucky is involved, I expect he is going to do all he can to shut down Ava. And you never know if Alexis can find a way to send Ava to prison without implicating herself. Of course she will. But I don’t see that happening.
General Hospital: Ava Loses it All?
Even so, Ava’s going to lose the money she needs, lose all her new stuff that she’s buying, and may lose things she had before that were already at risk. Plus, once Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) finds out Ava blackmailed Alexis, he might go back on their custody agreement and start the fight for sole custody of Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava & Grace Scarola) again.
The only reason Sonny agreed to joint custody was because he needed to avoid stress because of his heart thing. But now Sonny has had his heart surgery. He’s recovering. So after this Ava blackmail stunt, Sonny may backtrack and come after Ava. Either way, her life is set to explode.
Poor Molly Lansing-Davis Faces Heartbreak on General Hospital
Now on to the third female on General Hospital whose life is going to blow up very soon. That is poor Molly. And unlike some of the other ladies on our list, what’s going to happen to her is through no fault of her own.
First, Kristina was going to snatch back the surrogate baby from Molly that she agreed would be hers and TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow)’s. Then Kristina lost the baby. And from there, Molly and TJ broke up. It’s just been one bad thing after another for her.
And it’s going to get even worse because Molly is about to find out Kristina once again lashed out without considering consequences and almost killed Molly’s father, Ric. Then, of course, Kristina has been lying to her face and acting sympathetic, sitting by her side at General Hospital while Ric is in life-saving surgery.
And it’s all Kristina’s fault. Molly is going to be furious that once again, Alexis covered for Kristina and enabled her terrible behavior. And Ric blackmailing Alexis is also going to hit Molly really hard. She’ll have no parents that she can trust or admire and a sister that keeps ruining her life. Poor Molly.
General Hospital: Lois Cerullo – Molly Lansing-Davis
Portia Robinson’s Lies Exposed
All right, number four on the list, another lady whose life is about to blow up is Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr). For a while, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) was blackmailing Portia over the Heather test tampering, but at least Portia told Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) what she did, but she left out the blackmail stuff.
And of course, now Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) has that same info thanks to Brad. And he’s blackmailing Portia. She is hiding that from Curtis, too. Plus, Drew knows about the ketamine. Portia doesn’t know he knows.
But that’s another bombshell, another scheme that Curtis is going to be furious about. Her hubby knows something is up, but Portia, let’s face it, she’s a big old liar who never tells the truth until she’s cornered. And usually by then it’s too late. And Curtis may not forgive these recent lies. So Portia may lose Curtis, her job, her medical license, and her freedom because she might go to prison.
Nina Reeves Dragged Down by Portia Robinson’s Scheme on GH
All right, number five on our list. Portia’s mess of a life ties into Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros)’s because they were working together to destroy Drew. It’s clear that Portia may go down soon, and Nina may be dragged down with her.
Brad dropped that dime on Portia, and he blamed her for the ketamine. So now Drew is putting all the pieces together because he knows that the prostitute Jacinda was on Nina’s radar. sleazy Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) let him know that.
It shouldn’t take long for Drew to realize Portia and Nina were working together. So, yeah, Nina may lose Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), and she could face arrest for the ketamine caper, and that would definitely blow up her life, especially if the whole thing with Nina sleeping with Drew comes out as well.
Willow Tait Faces Custody Battle on General Hospital
All right, number six, from Nina, we go directly to the next lady whose life may implode. That’s Willow. She is to blame for a lot of what has happened in her life lately because she slept with Drew. But Carly Corinthos Spencer (Laura Wright) and Nina have plotted and conspired to make her life worse and tried to destroy her and Drew. And when Willow finds out Nina was part of the plan to drug Drew with ketamine and set him up with a hooker, she’s going to be horrified.
And at that point, Drew may go for broke and tell Willow that Nina had been shagging him for months to try and keep him away from her so that he can make himself look better. Willow’s going to be crushed.
And with Carly pushing to take custody of her kids using the Drew incident against her, that’s going to hurt Willow, too. It also looks like recast Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is back soon. And Willow’s life may blow apart if he makes that move for sole custody.
Lois Cerullo’s Baby Secret Explodes on GH
Number seven, speaking of kids and custody and drama, Lois’ life is hanging by a thread, and her lies are about to come out in an explosive manner. Lying to Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and keeping her son Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) right under her nose all these years is going to look so bad. Lois lied to Brooklyn, to Gio, and pretty much to everybody except her mother Gloria Cerullo (Ellen Travolta).
And then, of course, Gio’s adoptive mom died, leaving him an orphan. So, that poor kid, the poop is all about to hit the fan, and Lois’s life is going to be shattered. Brooklyn is going to be furious. Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) will be. Gio, absolutely. Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) probably will be. I think the only person that will excuse and defend Lois is going to be Gloria, her partner in crime.

Former I’m A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo and her husband, BrewDog co-founder James Watt, have been revealed to have a jaw-dropping combined net worth of £425,000,000.
Their vast income placed them at number 304 on the Sunday Times Rich List 2025.
Georgia first rose to fame on Made in Chelsea before winning the nation’s hearts in the jungle.
Now a successful businesswoman, Toff runs a dog food company and talent management agency.
Meanwhile, James is the driving force behind BrewDog, the craft beer company that took the world by storm with its bold marketing.
Georgia Toffolo and James Watt’s astronomical net worth
In a candid joint interview with The Times, the couple opened up about their relationship, careers and how their wildly different worlds collided.
“James and I were set up on a blind date the summer before last. I’d heard of him. Everyone knew about BrewDog, with its crazy marketing. I remember talking to someone in marketing who said: ‘How crazy do you want to be, on a scale of one to James Watt?’” said Toff.
Despite James not knowing who she was – “I’ve never even seen a second of Made in Chelsea”, he admitted – the connection was instant.
“Even on our first date, it was clear it was going to be something special. We were glued together immediately,” Georgia gushed.
Wedding bells
Their romance has been anything but ordinary.
In March 2025, the pair eloped to Gardenstown, a small fishing village in Scotland, where James’s family has married for generations.
With just 48 hours’ notice, close family, including James’s daughters Evie and Mia from his previous marriage, joined for a low-key celebration featuring sausage rolls at the pub and a reception at BrewDog HQ.

‘I wanted financial freedom’
Despite their immense wealth, the couple insists that money isn’t what brings them joy. They split their time between a Thames-side penthouse in London and a modest home in Aberdeenshire.
“Money can make life much easier. But it has nothing to do with the feeling you get when you’re surrounded by the ones you love, in a place you love,” Georgia admitted.
Still, they are driven by ambition.
“I was always tough on myself, always wanted to be top of the class. I wanted financial freedom and independence.”
James said the couple shares a passion for growth and creation. He said no matter how much he’s achieved or made, he’s always thinking “what’s next?”.
He also hailed his wife as a “terrific businesswoman”.

In Brief
Interlace is building the compliant, secure infrastructure powering crypto payments, cards, and global payouts—bridging crypto and banking to make finance more open, usable, and competitive.
In the divide between traditional finance and crypto, Interlace is building the bridge—and they’re doing it with cards, compliance, and seamless global payouts.
At the core of Interlace’s mission is a deceptively simple idea: make crypto infrastructure as trustworthy and usable as traditional finance, but far more inclusive.
“Right now, you have a banking system that keeps people out,” says Mark Homeier, Chief Business Development Officer at Interlace. “Crypto lets anyone in—but it’s complicated and not always protected. We’re solving both.”
The Infrastructure Behind the Onboarding Process
Unlike consumer-facing crypto startups, Interlace is purely B2B. Their customers are the local wallets, fintech apps, and regional payout platforms that everyday users interact with. Interlace operates behind the scenes—providing the rails, regulation, and reliability these services need to scale safely.
“We work with downstream providers—wallets, payment systems, payout systems,” says Homeier. “We enhance their capabilities with banking relationships, card issuing, fiat, and stablecoin liquidity—all wrapped in a compliant infrastructure.”
Interlace isn’t just bridging crypto and banking—they’re building the foundation that lets wallets issue cards, support global payments, and offer banking-style services to their users. And they do it without the downstream partner needing to worry about KYC, AML, KYT, or liquidity sourcing.
Security and Compliance Built In
Interlace leverages battle-tested technologies like multi-party computation (MPC) wallets, one of the most secure forms of digital asset custody. However, the real differentiation comes from their full-stack compliance model.
“We do KYT on all transactions, we screen wallets, we run AML and KYC with multiple systems,” explains Homeier. “We keep the ecosystem safe so our partners can focus on their users.”
This focus on regulated, enterprise-grade infrastructure positions Interlace as one of the few trusted players capable of supporting institutional-level flows, while still enabling grassroots fintech builders in emerging markets.
Crypto Cards That Compete With Traditional Banks
Interlace already supports stable, high-volume card issuance—something they’ve done quietly for years. But the new frontier, says Homeier, is around benefits innovation: bringing traditional rewards systems into the world of crypto cards.
“We’re exploring cashback, staking integrations, airline miles, travel rewards—all the things people love about traditional cards,” he says. “But now tied to crypto accounts and wallets.”
By enabling partners to build yield and loyalty programs into their card products, Interlace is making it possible for a user to earn travel rewards from their crypto wallet, without ever touching a bank.
This is a big deal. It signals a shift from crypto being merely functional to being aspirational and competitive with traditional finance products.
“Now you don’t need to go to your regular bank to get airline miles—you can get them on your crypto card,” says Homeier. “That’s the future I want.”

In Brief
Fluence is reshaping cloud computing with a lean, decentralized platform that’s cheaper, open, and resilient, starting with blockchain node providers and scaling one focused market at a time.
In an interview with Fluence Co-founder Tom Trowbridge, we got a deep dive into how the company is reshaping cloud computing through decentralization, starting with a very focused strategy and a clear view of what’s ahead.
The Pitch: Cheaper, Open, and Resilient Compute
Fluence is building a decentralized compute platform — and it’s not just about ideology. The model comes with real, tangible benefits. According to Tom, compute on Fluence can be 20% to 80% cheaper than traditional providers, depending on usage and duration.
“Lower cost is what gets people in the door,” Tom said. “But openness and resilience are what keep them here.”
Unlike centralized cloud platforms, Fluence is designed to be open and portable — users aren’t locked into one provider. And thanks to its distributed design, it’s more resilient to outages and less dependent on any single point of failure.
Starting With a Niche, High-Need Market
Fluence is taking a focused go-to-market approach, beginning with third-party node providers — companies that host and maintain blockchain nodes for others who don’t want to deal with the infrastructure themselves.
It’s a smart play. This is a hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars market, and Fluence already has $5 million in pipeline volume, with expectations to triple or quadruple that in the near term.
“You need a focused market at the start. Execute well, build a position, then expand,” Tom emphasized.
Once they’ve established themselves in the node provider space, the team plans to expand to layer-1 blockchains running their own infrastructure, and later to AI agents, massive consumers of compute power.
A Minimalist Product with Big Ambitions
Fluence’s current offering is lean by design: a compute marketplace centered on virtual machines (VMs). Containers and tools like Docker are on the roadmap, but the strategy is to nail the basics before branching out.
“It’s tempting to add more features, but we’re holding back until we’ve locked down this first market,” Tom said.
The key technical milestone ahead? Service Level Agreements (SLAs) — something Tom believes will be a game-changer for customer trust. With SLAs in place, users will know they can expect consistent reliability and that there are consequences for providers who don’t deliver.
“SLAs will unlock more use cases and help us grow the customer base. They’re a major priority for us this year.”
Eyes on ARR
When it comes to success metrics, Tom isn’t shy: it’s all about revenue and customer traction. Milestones like hitting $1M, $2M, $5M, and $10M in ARR are top of mind for the team, along with continued platform development and customer expansion.
