Opinion: Coronation Street’s Craig Tinker deserved a happier ending after 14 years in soap

It’s been a tragic week in Coronation Street this week, as Craig was struck by Mick Michaelis in Monday’s episode. Sadly, he died in hospital tonight (Wednesday, May 21).

The copper was keen to prove himself to Kit, who was in no way interested in mentoring Craig for his CID training.

Sadly, Kit’s disinterest and Craig’s desire to prove himself led to a one-on-one showdown between PC Tinker and violent Mick.

Mick’s abusive ways revealed ahead of attack

Over the last week, Mick’s anger has been steadily increasing.

After learning that his son, Brody, might actually be Kit Green’s biological child, fans saw the true abusive nature of Mick, when he took his anger out on wife, Lou.

A disturbance was reported to the police, and it seemed like it wasn’t the first time there’d been such an incident at the Michaelis residence.

Tonight, it became clear, with Lou planning on running away with her children, that this wasn’t the first time Mick had harmed her.

Her oldest daughter, Joanie, asked if they were going ‘back’ to a shelter. Later, Lou informed Tim that she’d know the women’s refuge centre when she saw it.

At the hospital, a nurse saw that her arms were covered in bruises.

Lou admitted that Mick would never harm her daughters, confirming the abuse she’s been facing.

Mick’s violent nature clearly isn’t new, but Monday night saw it reach new heights…

Craig takes the brunt of Mick’s anger

Craig, who had been called to the disturbance at the Michaelis property, was on high alert when he saw Mick speeding off in his van.

Unfortunately for PC Tinker, upon following the dodgy builder to the precinct, he took the brunt of his anger in a horrific way.

As he was about to arrest Mick, he grabbed a bat from his van, and hit Craig in the face with force.

Though Mick panicked and tried to wake him up, he soon fled the scene, realising he’d hit him too hard.

Monday (May 19) ended on Craig lying lifeless as Mick sped away from the scene of the crime.

Opinion: Coronation Street’s Craig deserved better

That final scene was incredibly poignant, and it was wonderful to see a character like Craig get such a massive send off. However, after 14 years, killing him in such a way was brutal.

Tonight, we saw Craig in hospital, struggling to answer questions when asked for a statement about the attack.

As Kirk and Maria arrived to visit Craig, his brain started to swell.

Tragically, CPR was unsuccessful, and his time of death was declared.

After more than a decade on the cobbles, it was nice to see Craig’s exit be the main focus of both Monday and Wednesday’s visit to Weatherfield… But, killing him off did feel unnecessary.

His death comes two years after ex-girlfriend Faye moved to Slough, and just 9 months after mum, Beth, moved to Norfolk.

If it was really time up for Craig on the Street, could he not have moved to be with one of them? Craig deserved to live a happy life away from the cobbles. Chance of a bright future ahead of him was robbed just like that. Absolutely tragic.

Fans are devastated by Craig’s sad death in Coronation Street

On social media, Coronation Street fans have now expressed their sadness over Craig’s tragic demise.

One fan said: “Aw Craig didn’t deserve this. Love his character. Please don’t kill him off. Should just leave Corrie open for him, so he has the choice to come back.”

Another added: “You should never have gotten rid of Colson. He was such a brilliant actor. You really didn’t need to kill him off. Big mistake Corrie.”

A third chimed in: “Appalling way for this character to leave.”

    Colson Smith praises exit scenes

Although fans hoped that Craig might get something of a happy ending, the actor seems to disagree. When speaking about his departure, Colson Smith said: “It is exactly the exit I wanted for him and we are all really proud of what we filmed in those final weeks.”

It would have been nice to see Craig have a happy ending. Perhaps he could have moved away to start a CID career elsewhere.

However, with Daisy and Eileen both leaving of their own volition, it was inevitable that one of the big exits would be a tragic one.

Hopefully, some good can come out of this tragedy. Fans are hoping for comeuppance for both Mick and Kit, and for Lou to be freed from the constraints of an abusive marriage.

It certainly would have been better to see Craig leave in the back of a taxi instead of in a body bag. However, his 14 year stint on the cobbles certainly won’t be forgotten.

Get some dino games like Parkasaurus, Amber Isle and Prehistoric Kingdom in this Humble Bundle

Get some dino games like Parkasaurus, Amber Isle and Prehistoric Kingdom in this Humble Bundle

I looked over the list and for me personally, Prehistoric Kingdom is the star of the show here. It’s a superb dinosaur/prehistoric-animals park builder with modular building system, which is actually a joy to build with, unlike in Planet Zoo. The animals are extremely good looking and it’s so much fun to make realistic exhibits. And it has BABY DINOS! Need I say more.
The other ones that seem interesting are Amber Isle (which reminds me a lot of Stardew Valley) and Fossilfuel 2, and possibly Parkasaurus. The rest of the bundle seems rather weak though.

Personally, I think it’s worth it just for Prehistoric Kingdom alone. It’s weird they did not include any of the Jurassic World Evolution titles here though or ARK

Ruth Langsford, Charlene White and Kaye Adams favourites to leave Loose Women as ITV cuts costs

Bookies fancy Ruth Langsford as ‘favourite to leave’ Loose Women amid news of changes to the ITV daytime show.

It was announced by ITV yesterday (Tuesday May 20) that cuts will be coming to scheduling and production for programmes such as Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, as well as Loose Women.

The Sun has gone on to speculate that up to a third of the show’s 26-woman line-up could be slashed in what one unnamed source has described as “the death of daytime TV”.

Now oddsmakers have weighed in – and Gambling Industry News reckons there are four names who are mostly likely to quit.

Loose Women latest as ITV announces cuts

As part of the sweeping changes, Loose Women will only be shown on the box for 30 weeks a year.

The “efficiencies” are set to occur as part of cost-cutting drive at ITV, and follow modifications already made to its soaps. The changes are expected to come into effect from January.

While ITV insists cuts will help support other programming such as new drama and sport, one ITV worker is quoted as telling The Sun: “Everyone is completely gutted and in shock. We can’t believe they would dismantle these brilliant shows.”

However, ED! has been told that, despite changes to the way shows are made, the cuts are not about changes in front of the cameras. The brand has also been expanded with the Loose Women podcast.

ED! approached ITV for comment on The Sun’s claims.

Which stars are tipped to leave Loose Women?

Nonetheless, could stars choose to step away?

According to Gambling Industry News, Charlene White, Kaye Adams and Christine Lampard could choose to leave.

Ruth Langsford is said to be the 5/6 favourite to decide to move on herself.

Charlene White, meanwhile, is priced at 5/4 to quit of her own accord.

Additionally, Kaye Adams is rated at 6/4 to leave fronting Loose Women behind her.

And Christine Lampard is given odds of 2/1 to prioritise other opportunities over the hosting position she has appeared in since 2016.

A spokesperson for Gambling Industry News said: “Loose Women has been a daytime TV staple for decades. But it looks like we could be seeing some familiar faces leave the programme. Ruth Langsford now odds-on at 5/6 to step down from her regular role.

“Charlene White and Kaye Adams are also in the mix to leave at 5/4 and 6/4 respectively. Christine Lampard is a longer shot at 2/1.”

Bold and Beautiful Early Spoilers May 26-30: Liam’s Time is Up & Deacon Fights Back

Bold and Beautiful Early Spoilers May 26-30: Liam’s Time is Up & Deacon Fights Back

Bold and the Beautiful spoilers for May 26-30, 2025 see Liam Spencer‘s (Scott Clifton) time is just about up, and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) is fighting back about something.

As we always do on early edition day, we’re going to start with what’s coming the rest of this week and then talk about what is ahead for next week.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Hope & Carter Reunite, Liam’s Health Crisis Deepens

With that in mind, on Wednesday, May 21st, we’ve got a previously broken up couple patching things up. Obviously, unless something dire happens, it’s going to be Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) because Hope just showed up at Carter place and said he’s the guy she wants and loves.

But Carters kind of in shock because that’s just what he heard Hope saying to Liam, and he tells her that. He seems in shock at what Hope is saying. But you know, he said he loved her and he wants her, so he’s like, “Okay.” But Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) is going to be horrified because she thought, “Oh, I’ve got him. I’ve got Carter.”

Speaking of her, Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace) and Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) are talking to Daphne about a new line. Could be cosmetics, maybe some kind of branch off. But after hearing that Hope has gone back and reunited with Carter, looks like Daphne is planning to pack her bags to head back to Paris because she’s not going to get the prize she wanted.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Liam’s Health Update

Meanwhile, Liam gets a health update over at the hospital from Dr. Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech). Looks like Finn (Tanner Novlan)’s going to go along too to translate the medical jargon, but it does not look good. He’s hoping it looks good, but you know, things are dire. The scans haven’t changed.

Maybe they’re going to find something, though. You know, recently Finn had told Liam no change after the latest test results, but they may be telling him, “Alright, you are dying, but now we have a better timeline.” Liam is having worse symptoms and looks like time may be up. You know, I still don’t think he’s going to die, though, so we’ll see.

B&B Spoilers: Brooke and Taylor Rage Over Ridge

Thursday, May 22nd, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) are back to fighting about guess what? Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). And more arguments about the little stunt that Brooke pulled with Eric Forrester (John McCook) at the Forrester Creations fashion show.

You know, Brooke’s going to keep beating Taylor (Rebecca Budig) over the head with dusty destiny. Taylor might say, you know, possession’s 9/10 of the law, and guess what? I’ve got Ridge. And she may throw in Brooke’s face that the Portofino dress stunt just didn’t work. The prancing around in her lingerie didn’t work on Bold and the Beautiful. Nothing’s worked. Ridge is still with Taylor (Rebecca Budig). So, she’s probably just going to say, “Give up, Brooke,” but she probably won’t.

Ridge gets relationship advice from Katie Logan (Heather Tom), who based on her own track record, probably shouldn’t be handing out any relationship advice. You know, things aren’t going well for her. But she’s obviously going to tell Ridge, “Embrace your destiny. Go back to Brooke.” But at least for now, Katie is wasting her time.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Romantic Reunion Ahead

On Friday, May 23rd, we’ve got a loving reunion taking place, and the happily reunited couple reconnecting. Those are the vague spoilers, but looks like it is Hope and Carter  unless something drastic changes.

Now, Liam is getting a slice of news that looks particularly bad, and he’s probably going to share it with Hope, but he also told her to go back to Carter. So, this looks like them really getting back together. However, he just told Daphne you know, you were right about Hope. So, he’s confused.

        Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers:

Meanwhile, something finally gets Brooke to snap out of this funk that she’s in. And it could be that Hope kind of fills Brooke in on some of the things she doesn’t know, like that she has decided to reunite with Carter. But with that and Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) rehiring her, Brooke’s got some questions.

So, especially with Liam now getting much worse and it is becoming more apparent that something is wrong with him and he is sick, you know, she may tell her mom Brooke, “Okay, I’m just going to get real. Liam’s dying,” but she can’t tell anybody. Especially because there’s a chance Taylor could tell Ridge.

So, everybody obviously is going to be finding out soon, and this may shake up Brooke and have her thinking less about Ridge and more about being there for Hope and for her granddaughter, Beth, as they have to deal with losing Liam.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton)- Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan)
Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Liam Spencer – Deacon Sharpe

B&B Weekly Spoilers May 26-30: Liam’s Fate, Hope’s Choice, and Forrester Drama

The week of May 26th through the 30th, of course, we’ve got more of Carter and Hope newly reunited, it seems. Meanwhile, Daphne is planning to leave Los Angeles. She feels like there’s nothing left for her there at Forrester Creations, but of course, Steffy doesn’t want Daphne to go. Steffy needs her friend. So, will she tell Daphne about Liam dying and just ask Daphne to stick around a little longer and be part of her support network during this trying time?

And of course, Hope has told Carter he’s the man that she wants to be with, but that’s because Liam prodded her to do it. Hope and Carter are reunited. But is Hope going to have some buyer’s remorse soon, especially when her dad gets involved?

Liam’s going downhill fast. Things definitely look grim. Other people should start figuring it out even if they’re not told, like Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) among others, and you know, he may get suspicious soon and just wonder why he’s looking that way.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Finn Searches for Answers

Finn continues to search for a miracle as he watches Steffy fall apart in grief, and he knows how bad this is going to be on Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras McKinlay) as well. Plus, Finn and Liam have been bro bonding, and Finn really feels for Liam. He totally understands this because he’s a dad too, and it could just as easily be him. So, Finn’s going to do any and everything he can to buy Liam as much time as he can, even if he can’t find a cure.

Brooke is on the receiving end of this wakeup call and knowing that Liam isn’t going to last and that her granddaughter is about to lose her dad. All of that, it may just give her some perspective, you know, that fighting Taylor over Ridge is kind of petty in the light of this. You know, this is a whole different kind of terrible destiny.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Deacon Gives Up?

Taylor and Ridge are looking to the future. And of course, Taylor does know that Liam is dying, and she may tell Ridge, and this is probably giving her some perspective of we don’t have an unlimited amount of time. Let’s get started on our tomorrow.

Right now, Hope is getting back into the groove over at Forrester Creations now that she has her job back. But of course, the team is going to be wondering about Steffy’s 180. Whether they agree or disagree with it, they don’t get it because she’s been very vocal about Hope can’t be here. And the question is, with Steffy hiring her back but not bringing her line back, where are they going to plug Hope in at FC since HFTF is gone?

And Hope may tell Deacon about her reunion with Carter, and she may come clean to her dad about Liam and his grim fate. I just wonder if Deacon is going to keep fighting for this Liam and Hope reunion anyway and just tell her, “Look, I’m a guy. I understand guys. The only reason Liam told you to go back to Carter was to be self-sacrificing, which kind of proves that Liam has changed and is worthy of Hope.

Pudgy Penguins and Random House to Publish First Children’s Book

Popular web3 brand Pudgy Penguins has partnered with Random House Children’s Books to release a new picture book titled Worst Birthday Gift Ever, due out on 4 November 2025, marking the brand’s first official venture into traditional publishing.

The book will introduce young readers to Pongo, a character from the “Lil Pudgy” sub-collection, in a story aimed at children aged 4 to 8.

Written by Michael Leviton and illustrated by Kuma Labs, the book will be released as a $9.99 hardcover, in time for the holiday season and is now available for pre-order.

Pudgy Penguins and Random House to Publish First Children’s Book Source: Penguin Random House

What is Worst Birthday Gift Ever all about?

Set in the fictional world of Pudgy Penguins, the book follows the character Pongo as he celebrates his birthday. Known within the Pudgy community as impulsive but well-meaning, Pongo finds himself in trouble after his friends mistakenly give him real swords instead of inflatable ones. The narrative unfolds with a mix of chaos and problem-solving, offering a simple storyline for early readers.

The book is targeted at children between the ages of 4 and 8 and combines traditional picture book elements—humour, character conflict, and resolution—with characters developed within the Pudgy Penguins universe.

“Worst Birthday Gift Ever is more than a book – it’s the next chapter in a movement that’s already resonating with kids, collectors, and families around the world,” said Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins.

What does this mean for Pudgy Penguins?

This book marks the first publishing collaboration for Pudgy Penguins, originally launched in 2021 as a collection of Ethereum-based NFTs. Since then, the brand has expanded into physical toys, gaming, and social media content, and has built a significant following on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

By entering the children’s book market, Pudgy Penguins is moving further into mainstream consumer media. The brand has previously placed toy products in major US retailers including Walmart, Target, and Walgreens, reporting over one million units sold and more than $13 million in retail revenue.

“Random House Children’s Books is the gold standard in publishing,” said Luca Netz. “They understand the power of narrative and building lasting characters. As the leading web3 brand bringing digital culture into the mainstream, this collaboration marks a major milestone in our continued expansion.”

The collaboration with Penguin Random House suggests Pudgy Penguins is pursuing a multi-platform strategy that includes retail, publishing, and digital engagement. Future projects have not been announced but are expected to follow in a similar direction.

Google Meet Adds AI-Powered Live Voice Translation – Metaverseplanet.net

Google Meet Adds AI-Powered Live Voice Translation – Metaverseplanet.net

At the Google I/O event, the company announced that Google Meet is getting a new live translation feature powered by Gemini AI. This capability will instantly translate spoken language into the listener’s preferred language—while preserving the speaker’s voice and tone.

During the highly anticipated I/O presentation, Google shared updates about upcoming innovations, especially in AI technology. One of the key updates was for Google Meet, which is widely used for virtual meetings.

Live Translation in Real-Time with Gemini

Google introduced a real-time speech translation feature for Meet that breaks down language barriers between people speaking different languages. This means you can now communicate seamlessly, even if the other person doesn’t speak your language.

Users will be able to select their spoken language and their preferred language in the Google Meet settings. From there, Gemini will automatically provide instant voice translations during the meeting.

          Natural and Human-Like Voice Translation

The AI translation will work just like having a live interpreter, offering fast and fluid translations. What makes it even more impressive is that the AI retains the speaker’s voice, tone, and expressions, making the interaction feel more authentic.

In a demo shown by the company, two participants—one speaking English, the other Spanish—had a conversation that was successfully translated in real-time. The translation feature added voice dubbing for both sides, enabling realistic multilingual communication.

          Availability and Languages

Initially, the Gemini-powered translation feature in Google Meet will be available only to paid Gemini subscribers, and it currently supports English and Spanish. Google also stated that German, Portuguese, and Italian will be added in the coming weeks.

Gemini Gets Camera and Screen Sharing on Android and iOS

Gemini Gets Camera and Screen Sharing on Android and iOS

ChatGPT’s Popular Feature Now Available on Gemini: Use Your Camera to Talk with Gemini in Real TimeThe popular camera and screen sharing feature—previously known from ChatGPT—is now available on Gemini for both Android and iOS devices. At Google I/O 2025, the company announced that this feature is no longer exclusive to Pixel phones and is now being rolled out as a free update to all compatible devices.

Thanks to Gemini Live, you can now interact with the AI assistant by sharing your phone’s camera or screen. This allows for more natural and visual conversations. Instead of describing something verbally, you can simply show an object to the camera, enabling Gemini to analyze what it sees, such as identifying an animal species or recommending the right type of screw for a repair task.

✅ This feature is available now for Android and iOS users.

Deeper App Integration and Privacy Controls

Google also revealed that Gemini Live will soon be more deeply integrated with apps like Google Maps, Calendar, Tasks, and Keep. This will allow Gemini to offer more contextual and intelligent answers to your questions based on what it sees and what you’re working on.

When it comes to user privacy, Google has emphasized that users will have full control over which apps are integrated with Gemini. All permissions can be reviewed and changed at any time.

Originally launched only for Pixel devices last month, this powerful feature is now available to a much broader audience. You can start using it right away from your Android or iOS device.

Spheron x SoloChain – Powering the Next Era of Fair Token Distribution

Spheron x SoloChain – Powering the Next Era of Fair Token Distribution

Let’s face it, token launches have become a messy playground. We’ve seen them all in bonding curves, private sales, presales, and point-based airdrops. Most launches either lean too centralized or are too complex for the average user to understand.

While some aim for fair distribution, they often fall short in practice. Although Bitcoin’s mining model is often hailed as the gold standard—“the more you contribute, the more you earn”—replicating that model isn’t easy. DePIN projects are trying, but require heavy upfront funding, hardware, and technical knowledge. The entry barrier is simply too high for most people.

          The SoloChain Solution

SoloChain is flipping the script. It brings a mining-first approach to token distribution. No more shady allocations. No more confusing point systems. Instead, it offers an open, transparent, and agent-powered way to mine tokens based on real contributions.

          Here’s how it works:

Transaction Mining: Users earn SoloChain by submitting on-chain transactions. Rewards are distributed fairly based on activity and block emissions.

DePIN Mining: Stake or restake SoloChain tokens or tokenized DePIN assets to secure the network and earn rewards.

Agentic Optimization: AI agents help users participate more efficiently, optimizing operations and keeping the system sustainable for all.

This system supports a “you get what you deserve” model, where effort equals reward. It empowers projects to bootstrap liquidity and distribute tokens without relying on centralized systems or massive seed rounds. But SoloChain needs serious computing power to run this kind of system at scale.

Enter Spheron: Decentralized Compute for Decentralized Mining

Spheron is building the world’s largest community-powered data center. Its mission is bold: bring permissionless compute access to everyone on the planet. That’s why this partnership just makes sense.

By integrating Spheron’s decentralized GPU infrastructure, SoloChain gets the compute muscle it needs to fuel agentic mining, process transactions, and scale the network. Meanwhile, Spheron reinforces its mission of supporting real decentralized ecosystems, not just speculative hype.

Spheron and SoloChain are laying the foundation for a new era of fair, transparent, and sustainable token economies.

Builders can now launch mining-based token models without worrying about backend complexity.

Users can participate in SoloChain mining with minimal friction and earn based on real activity.

Validators and DePIN providers can stake tokenized infrastructure and earn from network verification.

We’re combining Web3’s core values—decentralization, fairness, and transparency, with the infrastructure actually to support them. This is the beginning of something powerful.

          Let’s mine the future together.

Google Announces Google Beam: Revolutionary 3D Video Communication Technology – Metaverseplanet.net

Google Announces Google Beam: Revolutionary 3D Video Communication Technology – Metaverseplanet.net

Google has officially announced that its futuristic Project Starline will now be known as Google Beam—a technology set to revolutionize video calls by making it feel as though you’re in the same room as the person you’re speaking to.

First introduced during Google’s 2021 developer conference, Project Starline was an AI-powered communication system that enabled users to see a 3D hologram-like model of the person they were talking to in real time.

Now, at the latest Google I/O event, the company revealed the next evolution of this concept, officially rebranding the project as Google Beam. According to Google, the technology is steadily becoming the world’s first AI-powered 3D video communication platform.

          Feel Presence Like Never Before

With Google Beam, you will experience video conversations that feel as real as being face-to-face. The system uses specialized hardware that supports the technology, allowing both participants to feel as though they’re in the same physical space.

According to CEO Sundar Pichai, the first Beam-compatible devices will launch later this year for selected users. Pricing and detailed specifications have not yet been revealed.

          How Does Google Beam Work?

The system uses a six-camera setup to capture a person from multiple angles. Then, an advanced AI video model creates a real-time 3D virtual replica of that person. This results in an experience straight out of science fiction—bringing to life the holographic communication once seen only in movies like Star Wars and Star Trek.

By combining real-time rendering, multi-angle capture, and AI-generated 3D modeling, Google Beam is transforming a once-distant dream into a cutting-edge communication reality.
