It has felt like a long time since the last Dragon Age game. Ten years to be precise. In the last Dragon Age game, we needed to form an Inquisition. This time however, we’re forming a Veilguard. Find out who joins and why as Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will see you returning to the world of Thedas, some ten years after the events of Inquisition. Your mission this time involves dealing with two corrupted ancient gods who have decided to destroy Thedas. No big deal.
You will be able to recruit seven companions in your quest, with some new and some returning characters. How you do so and then how you treat them is entirely up to you. You may even be able to romance them, if you so desire. This is a BioWare game after all, so the choices are completely up to you.
Those choices extend as far as fully customising your character. What role will you play in The Veilguard? And more, importantly, what combat class are you aiming for? With a shift in the combat this time around, that choice could be all the more important.
“On behalf of everyone at BioWare, I want to thank you for joining us on our latest adventure,” said Gary McKay, Vice President/General Manager, BioWare; Executive Producer, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. “After years of careful planning, countless hours of expert work, and innumerable design decisions, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is ready. We are so proud of this achievement and excited to see its impact on our worldwide community of fans, without whom none of this would be possible. We hope you have just as much fun in your own Rook adventure as we did creating it.”
Picking the right companion
With companions varying from necromancers, detectives and assassins, most of the game will probably be spent picking the right one for you. These questions can only be answered as you delve into their backstories, take on unique missions for them or just have them along for the ride for a couple of hours.
Maybe you can reminisce about the earlier games, telling them about how you fought the Darkspawn in Dragon Age: Origins?
For a headstart on some of the companions you will be recruiting, take a look at the launch trailer below:
