Classic point-and-click adventures are not exactly flooding the release calendar in 2026, which makes Whirlight – No Time To Trip feel like a bit of an anomaly, but a good one at that.
Developer imaginarylab’s narrative adventure game is now available on PC via Steam, having launched on May 14, with console versions still planned for Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S in Q3 2026.
Set around the eccentric inventor Hector and the sharp, resourceful Margaret, Whirlight – No Time To Trip follows the pair as an experiment sends reality wobbling off its hinges. What follows is a sci-fi mystery built around fractured timelines and a whole lot of trying certain items here and there in order to progress.
The game obviously leans hard into classic point-and-click design, throwing you into exploring hand-crafted locations, solving creative puzzles, and chatting to a colorful cast whose stories weave across different points in time.
There are more than 100 explorable locations, which is pretty impressive, giving the adventure a scope that should please anyone still nostalgic for the PC puzzle glory days.
Visually, Whirlight also has its own thing going on. Its expressive 2D animated characters are placed against detailed 3D pre-rendered environments, creating a bold, cartoon-like style that feels modern without losing that old LucasArts-adjacent charm.
With so many modern games going all in on live-service hooks and skin shops, a fully fledged narrative point-and-click adventure might be just the refresher you need, and Whirlight – No Time To Trip could be just the ticket.
What’s more, if you like the sound of any of the above, there’s a no obligation free demo available on Steam, allowing you to sample its puzzle-box weirdness before parting with any cash.
