Unveiling the Truth Behind Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York | MarkMeets Media

Gangs of New York: An Exploration of Fact and Fiction

While Gangs of New York presents a gripping narrative set against the backdrop of 19th-century New York City, it’s essential to discern the line between fiction and historical reality. Although the central plot is fictional, the film serves as a window into the tumultuous era of the mid-1800s, highlighting the deep-rooted tensions among Catholics, immigrants, and Protestant “natives.” Drawing inspiration from real-life gangs and events of the time, Martin Scorsese masterfully weaves a tale that captures the essence of a bygone era while shedding light on significant historical phenomena.

    Scorsese’s Inspirational Journey

Martin Scorsese’s journey to bring Gangs of New York to the silver screen spans nearly three decades, rooted in his passion for the rich history of New York City. It all began when a young Scorsese stumbled upon Herbert Asbury’s book, “The Gangs of New York: An Informal History of the Underworld,” in the 1970s. Asbury’s vivid portrayal of the city’s gangs and political movements ignited Scorsese’s imagination, laying the foundation for what would become one of his most ambitious projects.

In an interview with NPR, Scorsese reflected on the profound impact of Asbury’s book, stating, “This film sort of represents the foundation upon which all my other movies are based, in a way.” For Scorsese, Gangs of New York served as a gateway to explore the complexities of human nature within the backdrop of a rapidly evolving cityscape.

    Separating Fact from Fiction

While Gangs of New York immerses viewers in the gritty world of 19th-century New York City, it’s important to recognize that much of the narrative is fictionalized. Characters like Amsterdam Vallon, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio, and Bill “The Butcher” Cutting, brought to life by Daniel Day-Lewis, are products of Scorsese’s creative vision rather than historical figures.

However, the film draws upon real-life gangs of the era, including The Plug Uglies, The Dead Rabbits, and The Bowery Boys, to name a few. These gangs, along with their rivalries and alliances, provide a glimpse into the chaotic landscape of mid-19th century New York.

    Unveiling Historical Realities

Despite its fictional elements, Gangs of New York offers valuable insights into the social and political dynamics of the time. The film’s portrayal of the Know-Nothing movement, a nativist political party opposed to immigrant influence, reflects the xenophobic sentiments prevalent in 19th-century America.

William “The Butcher” Poole, inspired by real-life figure William Poole, epitomizes the ruthlessness and violence associated with the era’s gangs. Poole’s affiliation with the Know-Nothings and his eventual demise mirror the historical tensions that simmered beneath the surface of New York City.

The New York Draft Riots: A Harrowing Reality

One of the most harrowing events depicted in Gangs of New York is the New York Draft Riots of 1863. Triggered by the Civil War draft, these riots erupted into days of civil unrest, resulting in widespread violence and destruction. The film captures the visceral chaos of the riots, underscoring the deep-seated divisions within American society.

Amidst the turmoil, Black individuals, abolitionists, and government institutions became targets of mob violence, highlighting the pervasive racism and prejudice of the time. The New York Draft Riots serve as a stark reminder of the human cost of war and the enduring struggle for equality.

    Legacy and Reflection

As viewers revisit Gangs of New York in the present day, its themes of conflict, identity, and resilience remain as relevant as ever. While the film may take liberties with historical accuracy, its portrayal of 19th-century New York City serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities of the past.

In a world grappling with its own social and political challenges, Gangs of New York prompts us to reflect on the enduring legacy of history and the lessons it holds for the present. Through Scorsese’s lens, we glimpse a bygone era defined by strife and struggle, yet illuminated by the indomitable spirit of humanity.

10 facts about Gangs of New York movie

Long gestation period: Martin Scorsese dreamt of making the film as far back as 1970 after reading the inspiration book, but it took him 32 years to secure funding and complete the project.
Real-life inspiration: While not entirely historically accurate, the film draws inspiration from real events and figures like the Five Points gang war and William Poole, the “Butcher” who inspired Daniel Day-Lewis’ character.
Star power: The film boasts a stellar cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Cameron Diaz, with notable supporting actors like Jim Broadbent and Liam Neeson.
Critical acclaim: The film received generally positive reviews, with particular praise for Day-Lewis’ performance, the production design, and Scorsese’s direction. However, some criticized the historical inaccuracies and pacing.
Academy recognition: Despite its critical acclaim, it only received one major win at the Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, garnering nine nominations overall.
Box office success: The film performed well commercially, grossing over $193 million worldwide on a $97-100 million budget.
Production challenges: Filming faced hurdles, including an elephant causing ruckus on set, leading to George Lucas stepping in to offer advice (Lucas had experience wrangling elephants for Star Wars).
Leonardo DiCaprio’s injury: During a fight scene, DiCaprio accidentally broke Daniel Day-Lewis’ nose. However, Day-Lewis, known for his method acting, remained in character and continued filming the scene.
Musical score: The film features a unique score by Howard Shore that blends traditional orchestral elements with Irish and American folk music.
Legacy: Though not without its critics, “Gangs of New York” remains a visually stunning and captivating film, lauded for its performances, historical scope, and contribution to the gangster genre.

    Scorsese’s Enduring Influence

Beyond its cinematic achievements, Gangs of New York stands as a testament to Martin Scorsese’s unparalleled vision and storytelling prowess. From his formative years in Little Italy to his ascent as a cinematic maestro, Scorsese’s passion for storytelling has left an indelible mark on the world of film.

As he accepts accolades and reflects on his storied career, Scorsese continues to inspire audiences with his unyielding dedication to the craft. Whether exploring the mean streets of New York or delving into the depths of human nature, Scorsese’s films serve as windows into the human experience, inviting us to confront the complexities of existence with courage and compassion.

In honoring Scorsese’s contributions to cinema, we celebrate not only the art of filmmaking but also the enduring power of storytelling to illuminate the past, inspire the present, and shape the future. As we journey through the cinematic landscape, may we continue to draw inspiration from the masters like Scorsese, whose creative genius transcends time and place.

Hyperliquid Ecosystem: From Perp DEX to Emerging Crypto Ecosystem

In a short period since the launch of HyperEVM – Hyperliquid’s EVM-compatible blockchain – the project’s ecosystem has expanded rapidly, now covering nearly all major sectors of Web3: from NFTs and GameFi to DeFi, AI, and Liquid Staking.

With its impressive growth momentum and an active builder community, Hyperliquid is gradually reshaping how users interact with blockchain technology.

    What is HyperEVM?

HyperEVM is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract execution environment developed on top of Hyperliquid – a decentralized perpetual DEX that operates without a traditional order book.

Unlike conventional EVM blockchains, HyperEVM was redesigned from the ground up to optimize scalability, reduce block times, and support parallel execution. These enhancements make it particularly well-suited for high-throughput applications such as real-time DeFi, artificial intelligence (AI), and dynamic on-chain data systems.

A Multidimensional Ecosystem: From DeFi to AI

HyperEVM has demonstrated an impressive pace of ecosystem expansion just months after its mainnet launch in February 2025.

Unlike many new blockchains that typically begin with a handful of experimental apps, HyperEVM has already attracted over 100 projects spanning core sectors of Web3, including DeFi, NFTs, Liquid Staking, GameFi, AI, Derivatives, and data infrastructure layers.

    hyperliquid logo

This trajectory signals that Hyperliquid’s strategy goes far beyond evolving from a successful derivatives trading platform. It aims to architect a diverse, multidimensional ecosystem that touches every corner of Web3.

The breadth and depth of projects building on HyperEVM reflect a well-planned approach – one that doesn’t rely on just a few flagship apps but instead spreads risk and fosters growth across multiple verticals.

A Multidimensional Ecosystem: From DeFi to AIA Multidimensional Ecosystem: From DeFi to AI

Lending & Borrowing – Redefining On-Chain Capital Efficiency

The lending ecosystem on HyperEVM is rapidly expanding, with diverse approaches ranging from traditional models to novel decentralized mechanisms.

Projects like FelixProtocol and PrimeFi follow a conventional lending structure but are optimized for UX and processing speed, offering a smooth experience for both borrowers and lenders.Meanwhile, Hyperlend and HyperYield focus on maximizing user returns through automated strategies like auto-compounding and cyclical interest reinvestment.Timeswap stands out with its oracle-free, fully decentralized lending model, allowing users to lend and borrow at fixed interest rates without liquidation – a truly trustless lending solution.Satoshi Protocol, on the other hand, implements a collateralized stablecoin model with automated liquidation, similar to MakerDAO or Liquity.

This diversity in design and operation signals that HyperEVM is steadily attracting stable liquidity while catering to a wide range of users, from conservative investors to adventurous DeFi participants.

Liquid Staking – The Foundation for Security and Flexibility

Protocols like Cluster, Harmonix, Solv Protocol, Tenderize, and Kinetiq offer users the ability to stake tokens while maintaining asset liquidity via Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSDs). This segment plays an increasingly crucial role in restaking ecosystems and modular security architectures.

DEX & Derivatives – The Next Generation of Decentralized Trading

Native DEXs on HyperEVM include HyperSwap, Sunder Finance, Valantis, and Laminar.

Notably, Spectra and D2 Finance are bringing derivatives to HyperEVM, enabling users to trade options and futures with a CeFi-like user experience.

AI + DePIN – Where Data Meets Intelligence

Projects like Beats AI, Farm Fun, and Sentient apply AI to market analysis, yield farming, and sentiment tracking.

HCR Bot and HyperLauncher offer automation tools for token launches and protocol management.

These initiatives demonstrate HyperEVM’s long-term vision, evolving from a smart contract platform into a hub for real-time data infrastructure and AI-powered systems.

Bridges, Stablecoins, and Oracles – The Backbone of Interoperability

No strong platform is complete without robust cross-chain infrastructure and reliable data:

Across, deBridge, HyBridge, and Wormhole simplify asset transfers to HyperEVM.Redstone and Pyth Network serve as the primary oracles for DEXs and lending protocols.Resolv and Stable Jack are essential stablecoin layers enabling sustainable liquidity.

NFT – A New Creative Wave

With projects like Octis, Drip Trade, Jelly Cat, and NFTs2Me, the NFT scene on HyperEVM is growing organically, driven by low gas fees and high minting throughput.

The standout collection Wealthy Hypio Babies has captured community attention for its unique design and rich lore.

    GameFi & Meme – Fun-Driven Community Engagement

Hyperliquid embraces community and entertainment through:

Meme tokens like Autist, Frudo, Catbal, and Rugman, which gain traction via humor and viral appeal.GameFi platforms including Hyperverse, Mon, Sovrun, and Moon HL, which bring diverse gaming experiences to blockchain users.

    What’s Next for Hyperliquid?

A closer look reveals that Hyperliquid is pursuing a vision akin to becoming a “Solana on EVM”, delivering ultra-fast and seamless user experiences while remaining fully compatible with the Ethereum environment.

Instead of building a new Layer 1 blockchain, Hyperliquid leverages its high-performance architecture and custom design to create an EVM environment that excels in speed, latency, and scalability.

Originally launched as a high-performance perpetual DEX, Hyperliquid has since evolved into the foundation for an entire ecosystem, now powering over 100 dApps across key sectors such as DeFi, NFTs, GameFi, AI, and on-chain data infrastructure.

    Conclusion

Hyperliquid is no longer just a decentralized exchange. With HyperEVM, the project is building a multidimensional blockchain environment – a space where DeFi, AI, GameFi, and community come together. If this growth trajectory continues, Hyperliquid could well become one of the most critical layers powering the next generation of dApps in Web3.

Mickey Rourke Exits Celebrity Big Brother After ‘Unacceptable Behavior’

Mickey Rourke has exited Celebrity Big Brother UK days receiving a formal warning for his treatment of fellow housemate, JoJJo Siwa.

“Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour,” a Celebrity Big Brother spokesperson told Us Weekly on Saturday, April 12.

Rourke, 72, left the all-star reality show following a disagreement with Love Island UK star Chris Hughes over a task. The two housemates became heated over their disagreement but the confrontation reportedly did not turn physical.

Earlier in the week, the one-time Oscar nominee received a formal warning in Big Brother’s “diary room” for violating “rules regarding unacceptable language.” He offended Siwa after telling her if he stayed in the house “longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.”

“I can guarantee I’ll still be gay,” Siwa, 21, shot back, “And I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”

Siwa then overheard Rourke telling Hughes that he was “going to vote the lesbian out real quick,” prompting the Dance Moms alum to respond, “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning.”

In the “diary room,” Rourke was told that his “language was offensive and unacceptable” and was warned he could be “removed from the Big Brother house” if there was another incident.

Rourke eventually apologized to Siwa, telling her, “I’ve got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don’t mean nothing by it. I do mean it [sorry]. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t say it to you.”

Siwa’s partner, Kath Ebbs, later condemned Rourke’s conduct as “beyond disgusting” while the reality star’s mother, Jessalyn Siwa, said she was disheartened by the ordeal.

In response to the controversy, the Iron Man 2 star’s spokesperson Kimberly Hines told Us Weekly that Rourke “speaks from his heart and means well.”

“He is old school, direct and honest. I have worked closely with him for nine years and he is 100 percent authentically himself. There will never be another Mickey Rourke. Period,” Hines said.

Cardano Price and Solana Surge, BlockDAG’s 600% Bonus Makes It the Leading Crypto

Cardano Price and Solana Surge, BlockDAG’s 600% Bonus Makes It the Leading Crypto

This week’s altcoin activity has created a stir across the market, with Cardano showing bullish signs and Solana bouncing off technical lows to post a significant rally. ADA’s technical breakout setup is drawing close attention from traders looking for confirmation above $0.64, while SOL has already registered a sharp 20% jump following major macro catalysts like Trump’s tariff delay. These signs of revival across prominent Layer-1s have added new fuel to the altcoin rebound narrative.

But amid this momentum, BlockDAG continues to set itself apart—not through speculation, but with measurable results and real-world traction. With its presale climbing past $213.5 million and a 600% Golden Ticket bonus available through the BDAG1200 code, BlockDAG is rewriting the playbook for investor-driven crypto adoption. The upcoming 7th AMA on April 17th and the first BlockDAG Global Convention only amplify its rising dominance in the space.

Cardano Bulls Await Technical Confirmation Above $0.64

Cardano has remained one of the most-watched projects this month as traders await confirmation of a broader breakout. Currently hovering around $0.61, ADA has pushed up nearly 12% in a matter of days, gaining momentum from its recent bounce off key support at $0.537. Analysts say a sustained move above $0.64 would mark the start of a fresh bullish trend, potentially driving ADA toward the $0.66 resistance zone. That said, the macro picture remains mixed. If the price fails to clear this level, ADA could retrace to deeper support zones at $0.509 or even $0.456. Still, the price structure has turned increasingly optimistic, and sentiment is beginning to favor a push higher. ADA remains a long-term play for many investors, especially as developments around Cardano’s governance and scalability continue to unfold.

Cardano Bulls Await Technical Confirmation Above $0.64

Solana Jumps 20% After Policy Pivot, But Caution Lingers

Solana delivered one of the strongest short-term rebounds in the market this week, climbing over 20% after news of Trump’s tariff delay spurred optimism across the tech and digital asset sectors. SOL is now trading above $115, reclaiming levels that many had written off during last month’s downturn. Despite the rally, some technical analysts note that Solana is still trading below key moving averages and remains in a broader downtrend from its Q1 highs. Traders are closely watching the $120–$125 range for resistance. A clean break above that zone could signal a larger reversal, but for now, volatility remains a factor. Still, Solana’s performance is bringing attention back to leading Layer-1s—especially those with meaningful user traction and infrastructure momentum. Which brings us to the project that’s rapidly separating itself from the rest: BlockDAG.

Solana Jumps 20% After Policy Pivot, But Caution LingersSolana Jumps 20% After Policy Pivot, But Caution Lingers

BlockDAG’s $213.5M Presale and 600% Golden Ticket Bonus Cement Its Status as 2025’s Leading Crypto Pick

While Cardano and Solana ride their respective waves of technical strength, BlockDAG is executing a far more structured rise—one built on fundamentals, architecture, community, and results. The project’s presale has now officially surpassed $213.5 million, with momentum continuing to climb. For new users, the BDAG1200 promo code unlocks a 600% bonus through the Golden Ticket campaign, an unmatched offer in today’s presale landscape. That alone has sparked renewed retail interest, but there’s much more under the hood.

BlockDAG’s CEO Antony Turner has confirmed that the upcoming 7th AMA will go live on April 17th, with fresh updates expected around its roadmap, upcoming listings, and global expansion plans. Just as impactful is the announcement of the first BlockDAG Global Convention, which will be held in the coming months at a destination near new investors who join now. This marks a major shift from online-only engagement to real-world, city-based activation—an approach few Layer-1s have executed at this level.

But what really sets BlockDAG apart is its technology. With a hybrid architecture that combines Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) and Proof-of-Work (PoW), BlockDAG is built for scalability at every level. The team has already stated their Mainnet launch will debut with 2,000 TPS, scaling up to 15,000 TPS within the first 24 months. That’s faster than many legacy Layer-1s and rivals even the most optimized DAG networks. Meanwhile, the X1 Miner App and Tap-to-Earn game have brought in over 1.1 million users combined, creating one of the fastest-growing Web3 communities in crypto.

BlockDAG’s $213.5M Presale and 600% Golden Ticket Bonus Cement Its Status as 2025’s Top Crypto PickBlockDAG’s $213.5M Presale and 600% Golden Ticket Bonus Cement Its Status as 2025’s Top Crypto Pick

Security is equally strong. The protocol is being audited by Certik and Halborn, with multi-party computation (MPC) securing its treasury. From decentralized governance tools to full DeFi capabilities at launch, BlockDAG isn’t just promising a future—it’s actively building it. And with each new milestone, it edges closer to joining the ranks of the leading 10 cryptocurrencies in 2025.

      Final Thought

As Cardano eyes a breakout and Solana rides a 20% surge, investors are reminded that technical momentum can spark short-term gains, but lasting success requires more. BlockDAG is delivering both. With a $213.5 million presale, 600% Golden Ticket rewards, a live testnet, and two major events—the AMA and Global Convention—on the near horizon, the project is positioned not just as a breakout contender but as one of the most complete investment stories in crypto today. For those still deciding which altcoin deserves a long-term bet, the window for BlockDAG is wide open—and closing fast.

You need to obtain your first Silver Crown (or higher) in the Hunting Log to get this achievement, which you should be able to get automatically through the story.

        The Hunt is On!

        Completed your first field survey.

Field Surveys become available after you’ve unlocked high-ranking hunts. The soonest you’ll be able to complete one will be during Chapter 3 of the main story.

        Let the Investigations Begin!

        Completed your first investigation.

To get this achievement, you’ll need to begin and finish a full investigation. To do this easily, you can start by selecting a monster’s icon, creating a quest for that monster, and then choosing to save it as an investigation.

        Explorer of the Eastlands

Obtained 10 different special items of Rarity 6.

Each map has its own special items; this achievement requires you to get the rarer versions of these items. The best time to collect these items is during an Emergence Event.

        Miniature Crown

Obtained your first Miniature Crown in the Hunting Log.

Using the binoculars, you can spot Crown monsters out in the wild; to get one with a Miniature Crown, look for one that looks like a Gold Crown but is a little shorter.

        Bourgeois Hunter

        Possessed 1,000,000 zenny.

This achievement can be unlocked simply by saving your currency and progressing naturally through the game. You can also sell items like materials or catch fish to give your in-game wallet an extra boost.

        Someone Worth Following

Completed 100 quests with your Palico deployed.

Go on and complete at least 100 quests with your Palico by your side. You can only deploy your Palico if you go alone or with one other hunter, so don’t try to get this achievement at the same time as “Hunters United Forever”.

        A Keen-eyed Observation

Used the binoculars to spot a Gold-Crown large monster.

Once you’ve unlocked the binoculars, use them to spy on monsters in the wild until you’ve come across a large monster with a Gold Crown.

        Miniature Crown Collector

Obtained a Miniature Crown for 10 monsters or more in the Hunting Log.

You can spot Crown monsters in the wild using the binoculars; to get ones with Miniature Crowns, look for the ones that look like they have a Gold Crown but are a little shorter. Do this for at least 10 monsters.

        Impregnable Defense

Forged 5 different pieces of armor with Rarity 7 or higher.

Once your character reaches HR 40, you’ll be able to craft Rarity 7+ armor. You can obtain this achievement by crafting yourself a full set of armor with this Rarity level, or just by crafting multiples of the same item, like Boots.

        Power is Everything

Forged 5 different weapons with Rarity 7 or higher.

Once your character reaches HR 40, you’ll be able to craft Rarity 7+ weapons. You can obtain this achievement by crafting 5 or more traditional weapons at Rarity 7.

        Miniature Crown Master

Obtained a Miniature Crown for many monsters in the Hunting Log.

You can spot Crown monsters in the wild using the binoculars; to get ones with Miniature Crowns, look for the ones that look like they have a Gold Crown but are a little shorter. Do this for as many monsters as you possibly can. There are 26 monsters in the game that can have a miniature crown.

        Giant Crown Collector

Obtained a Gold Crown for 10 or more monsters in the Hunting Log.

Using the binoculars, you’ll be able to spot monsters with Crowns out in the wild. Look for monsters with an icon that looks like a golden crown, and do this for at least 10 monsters.

        Giant Crown Master

Obtained a Gold Crown for many monsters in the Hunting Log.

Using the binoculars, you’ll be able to spot monsters with Crowns out in the wild. Look for monsters with an icon that looks like a golden crown, and then repeat as many times as necessary. There are 26 monsters you can do this with, so keep finding ones with gold crowns until the trophy is unlocked.

Out of the 29 total monsters in the game, only 26 are able to spawn with Crowns. Jin Dahad, Zho Shia, and Guardian Arkveld cannot spawn with Crowns. Keep this in mind when hunting for Crown-related achievements!

        Hunting Achievements

Fighting a Dragon Creature in Monster Hunter Wilds

These are all the hunting-related achievements that can be unlocked in the game.

Most of these trophies are earned by defeating/capturing specific monsters, defeating them under certain conditions, or by using certain strategies to take them down.

A lot of these achievements are as straightforward as they are tough; most of them aren’t that complex, but it’ll still take you a while to complete them regardless.

        Achievement/Trophy Name

        Requirements

        How to Unlock

        Hunter-Assassin

Performed your first successful Sneak Attack.

This achievement can be obtained fairly easily simply by sneaking up behind a monster and performing a Sneak Attack. If you’re having trouble with this, try equipping the Ghillie Mantle prior to attacking.

        Hit ‘Em Where it Hurts!

Landed 50 successful attacks on weak points or wounds in Focus Mode.

To get this achievement, you’ll need to land at least 50 Focus Strikes on open wounds while battling.

        Monster Ph.D.

        Hunted many different large monsters.

To unlock this achievement, you’ll need to hunt all the base game’s 29 different monsters at least once. Most of these will be covered in the main story, so try not to worry too much about this one early on.

        Seasoned Hunter

        Hunted 50 tempered monsters.

This achievement can be unlocked by hunting 50 tempered monsters, which are unlocked after completing the “Wyvern Spark and Rose Thorns” main quest. These monsters will appear in every region once the quest has been completed.

        Monster Slayer

        Hunted 100 large monsters.

All you need to do is hunt down 100 large monsters, which can be done surprisingly easily through the game’s main story. If you still haven’t reached 100 after you’ve completed the game, then all you have to do is pick up the few remaining stragglers you need afterward.

        Top of the Food Chain

        Hunted 50 apex predators.

Among the naturally spawning monsters in the wild, there are apex predators, which are the most dangerous and aggressive monsters of each area. Currently, there are 4 known apex predators in the game: Rey Dau, Nu Udra, Uth Duna, and Jin Dahad. These can be found in the Windward Plains, the Oilwell Basin, the Scarlet Forest, and the Iceshard Cliffs.

        Capture Pro

        Captured 50 monsters.

After you’ve completed the Capture Tutorial in the main story, you’ll be able to go out and collect the materials necessary for capturing monsters. Do this, and then repeat until you’ve reached 50 captures.

        Established Hunter

        Reached Hunter Rank 100.

Before you can get this achievement, you’ll need to first complete the main story. Once the main story has been completed, the rank cap will be removed, and you’ll then be able to climb the ranks up to 100.

Most of these achievements are super grindy, and aren’t the types to be unlocked in a single afternoon. If you’re trying to unlock all the game’s trophies as fast as you can, then you’ll probably want to start working on these achievements as early as possible, in conjunction with other achievements.

        Mission And Quest Achievements

Expedition Record Board in Monster Hunter Wilds

These are all the game’s achievements that are related to missions and quests—and if there’s one thing that this game has a lot of, it’s missions and quests.

Most of these achievements can be obtained simply by completing the main story’s missions, so they’re some of the easiest that the game has to offer.

For completionists, this category will be a total breeze for you; most of these are completely unmissable as long as you just play the game as it was intended.

        Achievement/Trophy Name

        Requirements

        How to Unlock

        Windward Lands

        Completed mission: The Desert Trotters.

This achievement is pretty much unmissable. All you need to do is complete the game’s first mission.

        Shadow in the Downpour

        Completed mission: Long-Forgotten Flame.

The “Long-Forgotten Flame” is a story mission available early in the game and is impossible to miss.

        Bringer of Harmony

        Completed mission: Monster Hunter.

This achievement is story-related and will become available towards the end of the story. There will be a strong “boss” monster you’ll have to face prior to the credits rolling, which you’ll need to defeat in order to get this achievement.

        New Ecosystems

        Completed mission: New Ecosystems.

This mission will become available to players after the initial story has been completed. New Ecosystems will be the very first mission you’ll receive post-game, so don’t worry too much about missing it.

        A Bitter Environment

Completed mission: Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns.

This achievement’s required mission can be completed simply by going along with the story. The “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns” quest removes the HR 20 limit for players, so you’ll need to reach HR 20 prior to taking it on.

        Beyond the Black Wings

Completed mission: A World Turned Upside Down.

This achievement’s mission, “A World Turned Upside Down”, will become available to players in Chapter 5 of the game’s main story. This achievement is unmissable as long as you maintain consistent story progression.

        One Corner of the World

        Completed mission: What Lies Ahead.

The “What Lies Ahead” mission is the final mission of the main story. Once it’s been completed, you’ll have officially “beaten” the game, along with gaining this achievement.

A True Hunter is Never Satisfied

        Completed 50 quests.

This one is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is complete at least 50 quests, most of which will be taken care of during the main story.

        A Step Toward Mutual Understanding

        Completed your first side mission.

You can unlock this achievement by completing your first side mission. One of the easiest side missions that you can get early on is the “Fishing: Life, in Microscosm” mission given to you by Kanya.

East to West, A Hunter Never Rests

        Completed 30 different side missions.

This achievement requires you to complete 30 different side missions unrelated to the main story, not including optional quests.

        Hunters United

        Completed a quest via multiplayer.

Connect with a friend or a fellow hunter online and complete a quest together.

        Hunters United Forever

        Completed 100 quests via multiplayer.

Complete at least 100 quests with friends or other online hunters through multiplayer.

Most of these achievements can easily be unlocked simply by playing through the game’s main story, so don’t stress too much about unlocking these.

Cooked over the BBQ Grill for the first time.

Open your Portable BBQ Grill and select “Grill a Meal”.

Open your Portable BBQ Grill and select “Grill Meat”.

        I Caught a Shooting Star!

Caught a creature in the desert that shines like a shooting star.

In the Windward Plains at night, you’ll be able to find a glowing blue rodent called the Sandstar. You’ll need to capture it to unlock the achievement, but you’ll also eventually get a quest from the twins in the base camp later on to capture a form of endemic life, so you might want to wait until you’ve received that quest before capturing it. That way, you’ll be killing two birds with one stone.

        A Prize Held High

Caught a creature that bears an ancient wyvern coin.

In the Flowering Rocks area in the Scarlet Forest, you’ll be able to come across a monster called the Curioshell Crab. Capture at least one to unlock this achievement.

Using your fishing rod, capture at least 30 whopper-sized fish.

        Glamper

Customized a pop-up camp for the first time.

After you unlock pop-up camps, talk to the relevant Palico at the forest base camp and choose the “Edit Camp” option. From here, you’ll be able to customize it to your liking.

        Campmaster

Established pop-up camps in 10 places.

Set up at least 10 different pop-up camps around the map.

        Newly Forged Bonds

Followed someone for the first time.

All you have to do to complete this achievement is follow one of your fellow hunters that you’ve played with before.

        Ride-or-die Companion

Customized your Seikret or changed its decorations for the first time.

You’ll be able to customize your Seikret from your Tent by opening the Appearance Menu and selecting Seikret Customization.

        A Legacy Restored

Obtained an Artian Weapon of Rarity 8.

Before you can unlock this achievement, you’ll need to first reach the point in the main story that teaches you about Artian weapons. After that, you’ll need to obtain at least 3 Ancient Weapon fragments before forging them into a usable weapon.

        Gossip Hunter

        Viewed 30 different Hunter Profiles.

View the profiles of at least 30 other Hunters.

        Eastward Wings

        Obtained all other achievements.

This achievement is pretty self-explanatory. All you have to do to unlock it is obtain all the other achievements in the game to ultimately be rewarded with this final trophy.

What it’s really like to be on The 1% Club – strict rules, why players end up out of pocket and reason they could be forced to ‘forfeit’ cash

The 1% Club has become one of the UK’s adored game shows on the telly at the moment – but what is it really like to appear as a contestant?

Since it premiered back in 2022, the ITV quiz show, fronted by Lee Mack, has become a hit with viewers. So much so, that a celeb version is on the cards.

The concept sees 100 contestants start out. However, if they want to make it to the end, they must answer correctly a question only 1% of the country could get right. If they do, they could win a top prize of £100k.

So, with The 1% Club back for another episode today (April 12), we’re taking a look at what it’s really like to be a contestant.

            The 1% Club secrets revealed

Speaking on behalf of FruitySlots.com, Heidi Phillips shared some behind-the-scenes secrets.

During her stint on the ITV game show, the 49 year old ended up using her pass at the 35% question before being eliminated.

And while some might think ITV would fork the bill for the contestant’s travel and hotel expenses, according to Heidi she had to pay for it herself out of her own pocket.

“I booked a hotel the night before as ITV didn’t cover the expenses for hotels or travel. But I wanted to treat myself,” she added.

Talking about the day of filming, Heidi continued: “We had to go through full security and then were put in a holding room. The producers came round again to explain the format of the show. And once again check we were happy to discuss the anecdotes we’d share during the audition process.”

Heidi also shared that before funnyman Lee Mack arrives to film the show, the contestants are greeted by a warm-up comedian in the studio.

“They also had a warm-up comedian for us who was really funny,” she shared.

The 1% Club star reveals show’s strict rules

As you’d expect there are several rules the players have to adhere to while on The 1% Club.

“Before the show, we were given rules about clothing. No logos or bright patterns. No fluorescent colours and nothing low cut,” Heidi revealed.

Why? She explained: “They didn’t want you to look dressed for a night out!”

Heidi also shared that prior to going on the show, ITV issue a serious warning regarding trolls.

“In the email that invites you on the show they warn you about it. They say to make your social media private to avoid anyone being able to reach out,” she said.

Contestants could be forced to give away their cash prize (Credit: ITV)

Why players would have to forfeit their prize

What’s more, even if players end up winning thousands of pounds, they could still be forced to forfeit the prize.

“When we got put in our seats in the studio, they gave us the tablets. And told us it was important to keep our eyes firmly locked on the screens and not look at each other,” Heidi said.

She added: “There were actually invigilators who go back through the show episode to make sure every contestant plays the game fairly.

“You could have won the cash prize but if they go back through filming and see you glanced over at another contestant’s screen before answering, you’ll forfeit the prize. That’s not happened yet but it was a stern warning!”

The 1% Club airs on Saturday (April 12) at 8.20pm on ITV1.

Is India Set to Host the World’s Largest AI Data Center? Reliance Grou

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group has unveiled plans for what might become the world’s largest data center by capacity in a significant move that could reshape the global AI infrastructure landscape. Located in Jamnagar, India, this ambitious facility is projected to reach an unprecedented three gigawatts of capacity—a scale that would fundamentally transform India’s position in the global AI ecosystem.

Breaking New Ground in Data Center Scale

The planned Jamnagar facility starkly contrasts with today’s leading data centers, which typically operate below one gigawatt capacity. Even the Sines data center in Europe, which is among the largest currently under development, is expected to barely exceed one gigawatt when fully operational. If completed as envisioned, Reliance’s facility would establish a new benchmark for data center scale globally.

This expansion is critical as data center capacity becomes vital to support growing AI workloads. Industry analysts at McKinsey & Co. project that global data center capacity could more than triple by 2030, reaching approximately 219 gigawatts annually—yet still potentially falling short of demand.

            Democratizing AI Through Competitive Pricing

A central element of Reliance’s strategy involves leveraging this massive infrastructure to offer AI inference services at significantly reduced costs. Ambani, the 67-year-old chairman and managing director of Reliance Group, has publicly committed to creating “the world’s lowest AI inferencing cost, right here in India.”

This approach mirrors Ambani’s previous market strategies, particularly in telecommunications, where aggressive pricing disrupted established competitors and transformed market dynamics. By investing heavily in NVIDIA’s AI semiconductors and building at unprecedented scale, Reliance appears positioned to replicate this disruptive approach in the AI services market, potentially.

“By leveraging our expertise in infrastructure, networking, operations, software, and data and by collaborating with our global partners, our goal is to make AI applications in India more affordable than anywhere else, making AI accessible to all,” Ambani stated last year.

            Strengthening India’s Digital Sovereignty

Beyond commercial considerations, the Jamnagar facility represents a strategic move to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure independence. Currently, India’s total data center capacity sits below one gigawatt—meaning this single project could potentially triple the nation’s capacity by 2027.

This expansion addresses a critical need as India’s AI adoption accelerates across both its thriving startup ecosystem and established enterprises. By providing localized AI compute resources, the facility would reduce reliance on overseas infrastructure while potentially positioning India as a self-sufficient AI hub with global reach.

Reports indicate that Reliance also intends to power the new data center predominantly with renewable energy, aligning with global sustainability imperatives while enhancing the project’s long-term viability.

            The Global AI Infrastructure Race

Reliance isn’t alone in pursuing massive AI infrastructure development. Tech giants, including Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon, are investing billions in expanding their data center footprints specifically for AI workloads. Meanwhile, the Stargate Project in the United States has attracted commitments from OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle ranging from $100 billion to $500 billion.

Despite these substantial investments, experts predict a significant capacity shortfall will persist. The United States alone may face a 15-gigawatt gap by 2030, requiring twice the data center capacity that has been built since 2000.

            Looking Ahead

As Reliance moves forward with its ambitious plans, the project raises important questions about the global distribution of AI compute resources. If successful, the Jamnagar facility could help address some of the projected global demand while simultaneously reshaping India’s role in the international AI landscape.

While these massive infrastructure projects take shape, businesses and researchers continue to seek immediate access to AI compute resources through alternatives like cloud GPU rental services, which provide flexible scaling without requiring direct infrastructure investment.

The race to build sufficient AI infrastructure continues globally. Reliance’s three-gigawatt ambition represents one of the boldest statements yet about the scale needed to power the next generation of AI innovation.
